Was the most delicious food, the prawn starter with melted cheese was the best we ever had, staff is friendly and helpful...Keep up the good work
Went here on a Sunday evening for a family dinner. Ambience was good. Service on the slow side, but only to comparison to some Joburg establishments. We had pies and oxtail. Great hearty meals - typical pub fare. I'll definitely revisit during my next visit to Clarens.
The hearty food and friendly service makes a Grouse And Claret experience one to remember. One can choose between inside or outside tables that look out on the street.
I had the venison pot pie, hubby had chicken and mushroom pot pie. Food was really good! Service was pretty quick. Thanks very much will be back!
Every time we come to Clarens we stop here. The food is beyond amazing. Winter times you have to try the oxtail! Prices are fair. The bar area is our favourite. Enough options to choose from. Drinks were served just as you ordered them. Friendly staff.

Generous portions, friendly staff I highly recommend this restaurant if you are visiting clarens!! Your meals are served to you exactly as described in the menu..i must say I was pleasantly surprised!!
What a great meal! Great service very friendly staff. I had a gorgeous, tasty, juicy rich oxtail the meat melted off The bone. It was served with mash, peas and carrots. The atmosphere is that of a normal pub but less smoky and dark. I would definitely come here again.
Oxtail, melting off the bone paired with peas and carrots and butter mash, chicken schnitzel to rival Mom's, a great winter red wine list and a burning fire, makes for happy travelers. Friendly helpful attentive staff...just wish they had a guest house on top to get they authetic travelers tavern experience. Go hungry and thirsty. You will leave happy.
We had some really good hearty food... Ordered the bangers and mash and the green beans that came with it tasted like my grandma's Sunday lunch. The peri peri chicken burger was so soft and tender.. Great food! Thank you!
