With Clarens Brewery always close to the Guesthouse we stay this always remains a good option for either lunch or dinner depending on the need or maybe the type of atmosphere your looking for. The beer is always cold and enjoyable with the selection being quite big and made by the brewery themselves, not to talk about the beers on the menu!
I also like the way they guide you on the menu to match the food with the beer that will compliment each other!
I highly advise if your in the area to give them a try we do every time!
It's a rustic cosy restaurant with a great drinks menu. Really supports local producers and I love that about them.
I was skeptical about going with my son but it turned out the place accommodates kids. They were playing Mumford and Sons when I was there so that's an extra point from me.
Beer is great, food is delicious, vibe is excellent. Nicely situated, too, around the town square. If you like good beer and tasty food, be sure to visit while in Clarens. You can buy some beer to take home too!
When visiting Clarens you can't miss the Brewery, it's iconic in my eyes. I always come back to it, it's a small brewery, but the quality is amazing. I'm into craft beer and I do my own craft beers, but that why I appreciate their effort and flavor profiles.
The food is actually great too.
I always get the beer tasting platter and food platter.
Then when leaving I buy some more for home.
Decided to pop in at Clarens Brewery to sample some of the local beers. They have 2 different beer tastings at R25 each. A good idea to do this if you’re unsure what to try. We also had their pub lunch of 3x hard shell tacos and fish bites. Very tasty. The service was also very good and informative about the different beers. Definitely worth a stop when in town.
Lovely place to sit down and have a nice cold one. So much choice and so little stomach. Plan to spend a couple of hours to get through most of the beer. I took a case for takeaway. Tasted the Yetti Dubbel and the Stout. Have to say that the stout was the best that I have tasted ever! And I'm not really a stout kind of guy. Food was amazing as well. We had the onion flat bread for starters. Mains we had the italian Job burger, on the roll and the taco trio. No complaints. Service was good as well. Overall great experience.

A very good selection of beers, from Bavarian wheat beer, regular blond, IPA, amber ales and very tasty coffee stout, as well as other drinks. The menu is European-influenced and offers classic bar food like burgers and salads with some vegetarian options like Greek salad and two quinoa dishes.
There's 8/9 under the craft beer's on the brewery menu.
The service was quick & friendly even though it was a busy Saturday morning.
The atmosphere was a bit odd.
Great food and beer, service excellent even when they are really busy.
Love, love, love this place. Treat yourself to the lamb shank with chips. It was superb. Their chips are a must. My husband had the beef pie was excellent. Beer tasting was so good. Staff are amazing.
