We just love this restaurant, we have been going there for about 2 years now. The sushi is always perfect and we often do takeaways too. The restaurant is generally quiet, and has a lovely peaceful zen to it with its bamboo decor and wallpaper. Always our only choice for a meal out at Canal Walk :) Located by Primmi and Tashas, not in the food court. Come on give this small business a chance :) Buy one get one free on Tuesdays :)
This was our first time trying a hotpot, and what a fun experience! The broth had incredible flavour to it and the food overall was fantastic. Amazing views of Table Mountain too! The service was hit & miss. Our waiter seemed a little lost and couldn’t answer most of our questions, so we gave up asking. I’d definitely come back though, even if it was just for a cup of that delicious broth!
If you don't mind paying a little bit extra for good quality food, then this is a good place to visit. The sushi was tasty, then ramen was flavourful, and our waitress was great.
Hope to go back!
Family outing for Father's Day lunch. He wanted Japanese cuisine. We ordered our feast - 2 Hot Pots - Seafood Nabe and Kimchi Nabe. The meat in the Kimchi Nabe was still frozen solid - but it did cook in the broth. The Seafood Nabe was advertised with scallops but there wasn't any scallops - they gave crabsticks (such a pity because we were looking so forward to scallops). We did still enjoy the Hot Pots as vegetables were good quality and the broth was good. We also had Ramen, beef flank, Katsu Don Chicken, Miso Ramen (with beef). For dessert we had the Kinako Soybean Mochi - really delicious and the Cream and Oreo Mochi. The bubble tea was excellent - Purple Cream and Oreo Chillato.
Average price for Hot Pots are R219, Ramen between R165 and R176. Bubble Teas between R65 and R68 served in a fairly big glass.
Friendly waitresses but they should be trained to keep patrons informed when dishes take a while to be served. Modern decor and there are tables to the right of the restaurant which have a lovely distant views of Table Mountain. Overall we enjoyed our luncheon and will return to try out their sushi and other dishes.
The food is extremely tasty! Definitely would recommend the Miso Ramen.
The service is ok as our meals came out at different times resulting in one person waiting for a while before eating. The music was too loud for the quality of the speakers but this was a small issue and only became an issue later into the evening
Good place, food is a little too pricey.
Overall, a nice experience. I would recommend this place if you have cash and feel like something different.
The highlight for me was the crunch banana with ice cream, this combo really works well.
Top class service, top class food and top class dining experience. Would highly recommend this restaurant !
It was amazing! My first visit to this gem in Cape town! Akiya Sushi exceeded all our expectations! Menu choices to die for-my youngest grandson was so impressed with his choice of food and drink! Friendly, welcoming atmosphere in a safe, airy space with lots of greenery in decor. A real treat!
The food was great!
The service however, not so much; the waiters are strange, not well trained, not so friendly either. Didn’t even get any smile, we tried to engage our waiter about the menu but no success. It was a strange and uncomfortable service but the food is great and thats the important part
Great experience if you're new to Ramen and so on. Portions are massive and tasty! Will go back soon.
I've lost count of the amount of time me and my wife have been here. all the dishes that we have tried so far, including the sushi, has been amazing. If you're looking for a place that has food that's consistently good, this is the one. The portions are big and you get more than your money's worth. You'll leave feeling satisfied.
