Review Mythos Irene Village Mall - Centurion

The restaurant is really good. Seating and vibe was pretty chilled and not clustered. The service was ok. The food was fresh. The only downside was that the prawns were overcooked. The wait time was short.

🙏 Thanks for concern about the hygienic at the covid-19 tome! The second time we are here. They have a nice service. The place is clean and have the choice to sit. For us we prefer open air. Our lovely cocktail, stater with oysters and sardines. The main course are lamp chop & fish menu😋😋😋 Thanks‼️

Amazing culinary experience! Great food and desserts, but pricey. Friendly staff (most of the time), but service is not always at its best (even when they are not that busy). If you have a birthday ahead and would like to smash a plate in the true Greek tradition, this is the place for you - and as a bonus they also give you a birthday treat on the house.

Great food, menu variety and awesome service!

It never disappoints me; all is well!

Excellent service and value for money and high quality!! Highly recommended

Really lovely place. I liked that the owner, I think, kept coming to see if everyone was okay. Loved the environment.

Food was great at a great price and good service as well

It was lovely coming back to what I refer to as one of my favorite places. On such a cold day and wet day, we walked in to a warm environment both temperature and feel...the anesthetics are on point from the cobblestone wall decor to the blue tinted glasses. I was looking for pork belly as out standard market was closed due to cold and the pork gyro? Was so yummy and worth it...tsatsiki always brings things together well but the pork was fabulously prepared and satisfied my direct craving. Kudos to the service team from receiving us well at the door and working together to make sure our delicious food was served timeously. Will always come back again and again.

The service at this Mythos is beyond disappointing. I mean an actual 4/10. The waitresses are not attentive at all. I think I asked for the wifi password at least 3 times and I was told the manager would come and give it to me and still 2 hours later, nothing. It’s 2019 and restaurants are still being secretive about their wifi...? Weird.

One thing I have noticed about this Mythos is the service staff is always different when I go there and for me this shows that they don’t have a good retention which shows that their waiters and waitresses are not treated well.

The food was delicious as always but as someone who orders the same thing all the time here, I think the quantity has become smaller.

I would rather commend the Mythos in Mall of Africa.

This is such a lovely restaurant! The staff is friendly and they let you eat in peace. I would recommend the lamb chops with the roasted potatoes.

I met with a friend at Mythos Irene, and ordered some wine. The waitress was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere warm and welcoming.

We decided to order main meals which was so delicious, followed by a donut desert which we shared - yum yum!

Will definitely be back.

Greek need I say more? I have always heard good things about Mythos and my visit to their Irene branch did not disappoint. Having stopped for a bite after a concert last week we were famished. The pita filled with halloumi and falafel was perhaps the best I have had to date. The service was good and definitely an enjoyable ambience. Mythos will definitely see me returning!

Mythos is my go to for just about everything ! All occasions even if it’s for a quick light lunch , the table salads let you share with a partner and add what ever extras you feel like! The portion sizes are very generous and the food is always amazing ! I have been there many many times and never been disappointed !

Good service with decent Greek food. A tad expensive perhaps, but portion do tend to be large. We had a vegetarian platter and it was a good representation of Greek food as I know it.

Always look forward to Mythos' Kingklip and veggies at Mythos in Brooklyn, this was the first time I had it here and it is actually disgusting to think one pays R155, 00 for this plate of food. Will not be returning.

What a disappointment! We went to this restaurant because their cake fridge was full and I had a craving for something decadent. The waiter forgot to go check if there was any chocolate mousse after saying he would and started to set a table right next to ours with no answer. Once asked, he went to the kitchen and came back 10 minutes later with a, "no we don't have but there is a nut chocolate thing if u want". The waiter was then asked to inform us of the cakes in the fridge which he was very unenthusiastic about doing. His poor description left a bad taste in my mouth and his knowledge of what was in the cakes was appalling. My partner persuaded me to have something as we were afterall, their for my craving. I ordered the chocolate cookie slice and asked if it could come with my partner's order. Needless to say, at this point I should have known better. My partner's food arrived and on his last few mouthfuls, my cake arrived. I tasted the cake, ate about half of it and decided to stop my misery as it was dry and full of glacéd cherries (case and point of the waiters lack of knowledge as according to him it was biscuit and chocolate sponge cake) . The waiter didnt even check to see if I was satisfied. I will definitely not be returning!

Enjoyed a lovely sunday lunch at Mythos Irene. Cocktails were divine! And wonderfully large at only R55/R60 each, both made with SKYY vodka. We opted to skip starters and made a tapas platter to share. The best option if you ask me! Standouts were the olive tapenade and the spicy feta dip on warm toasty fresh pita! We also loved the Kota (chicken) and the calamari. The dish of the day however was the deep fried eggplant!! Would give up chips for these babies!! Decor is also lovely, and the ambience is fresh and modern. Service could have been better considering the amount of waiters that stood around! All in all a great experience
Michelle
Service was really good , we were greeted so friendly by caroline and she was a great wAiter , wine was perfectly chilled and the food was fast . The only downside was the black mushroom was un- edible . The taste was really bad ..... better luck next time ? The lamb ribs and the chips were perfect 👍👍

We were always scared to try something new, on Sunday we decided to go to Irene and see what is there, we decided on Mythos, best decision we have ever made!! From the service from Joseph, to everything we ate it was incredible!! We will be back and believe me Mythos replaced some of our other favourites!!

I love Greek food and Mythos captures the vibe and feeling of being in an upperclass Greek restaurant. The food was delicious and fresh but the service left a bitter taste in our mouth. While we understand that good quality food takes time, our waiter was unenthusiastic and left us waiting for him on more than one occasion. It put a damper on our mood near the end of the night.

Went here for a quick lunch with my friend during business hours. As we only had one hour, we were in a hurry. I ordered the Salmon salad which was very nice! The rocket was fresh and peppery and complimented the salmon very nicely. I would however, as with most salads, prefer more protein, especially for the price. The service was good and the restaurant is very nicely decorated inside. I loved the blue plates.

A great friendly vibe which attracts young professionals. Clean with a distinct Mediterranean feel. Friends meet here. Having been here many times has us going for the same thing every time. You cannot get a better mezze platter for 2 anywhere . The Greek method of preparing meat is so much more flavoursome than most. Every mouthful is a snacky taste sensation. The choices of wine is a good selection and caters well. This place is one of those old favorites where you come back time and again. Book so that you can be sure to get a spot if you eat at the rush hour time especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

Let me start off by saying the service was good, the only reason this is getting anything above a 1 star rating. The oyster were not as stated on the menu "always fresh" they were very far from. The kingklip was very under done so much so I could only eat half of it, my wife ordered the mousaka which was still ice cold in the middle. Very poor food. Will not be returning any time soon

This restaurant can't get a simple dish, Moussaka right. It is never hot enough and we always need to send it back to the kitchen. But this was our last visit. Hie does one get 'fish and chips ' wrong. I'll tell you how, overcook the fish! Don't season the fish or 'dip' either. "We're only a franchise and we receive it as such from HQ" is the thin floor manager with the glasses' response. That says it all!
Cecelia Engelbrecht
I rated this restaurant a two , one point scored for the fact that the beer was really nice and cold and one point for the ambiance. Starting with the service , was extremely slow.We ordered the meat version meze platter for two. Presentation was poor and unimaginative . Price hefty for rather small plate for two .

I have been to this Mythos a few times & overall I have had good experiences. The lamb shank is very tender & tasty & their seafood is also of a good standard. The prices are also not too bad. The last two times I have been there I have had the beef fillet souvlaki & the first time I had it was much better than the second time. This last time the meat was dry & over-cooked where it was done perfectly the previous time. My friend had the Kota Mythos (chicken dish) which was delicious!! I do like the place so I will give it another try some time.
Lizanne
Mythos offers lunch specials at great prices for good quality food. I had the chicken souvlakia with salad. The salad was fresh and the chicken was cooked perfectly. My mother had rump steak, done according to her preference and super tasty. We also shared a falafel starter that lacked a bit of flavour but still very nice.

The decor in the restaurant is beautiful. A big open space where you can spend quality time with your family. The service is friendly and helpful.
I know that I already reviewed Mythos - the branch in Montes, but the level of service isn't always consistent across various franchise branches. From the outside everything looks the same, lovely light and open space, cool decor, same menu items, but the service... sigh... very slow, the waiter was mostly absent, it seems as if we spent most of the afternoon with empty plates and glasses in front of us.... We ordered the seafood platter for 2 and I think it was a bit overpriced for what we got (comparing to other 'seafood' franchises). I possibly missed it, but the manager was also no where to be seen? Maybe they were just having a bad day?

Mythos Irene is usually my central meeting point for lunch and dinner dates with some of my Johannesburg-based friends. We visit this branch at least twice a month and without fail, we order and share the vegetarian meze platter for 2. This platter boasts a large selection of tasty bites and with an extra order of pita bread it's more than enough food for three.

The food is always delicious and well-prepared and as a lover of Greek food, I'm always left satiated. The ambience is relaxed and the service is usually of a decent quality.
Rob
Great food great service and an enjoyable atmosphere. Always come back, great looking bar too.
Lunchtime specials are decent aswell. Cocktails good too.
A firm favorite for some quick seafood, and miles ahead of ocean basket (Calamari devine) I've had some of the best fresh oysters in pretoria here. They have my favorite Haute Cabiere here. Also the Verve goes for about R800 a bottle bargain! You will find me here often

We went to Mythos on friday and we got excellent service and excellent food! Their platters are amazing. Interesting options which work. There is a dish for every food palate. Excellent cuppucinos and desserts. Our waiter was fast and efficient. The new lady manager Alex was very helpful and accommodating. Thank you for the great experience! We'll be back soon.
I've always loved Mythos! Excellent food in convenient portions. We ordered a dip platter, the skordalia was good but the olive tapenade and taramosalata was amazing!! As my main I had the halloumi in pita, which was really very good. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. All in all, a very nice dinner.

I love Mythos...from the decor to the service. But I guess most of all you go to a restaurant to eat food...right haha. So I have to say the food is of good quality...fresh and tasty. I must admit that I'm not a Greek food expert but Mythos food is quite delicious. Everything from the steak, burger, salads and tapas.

I love Greek food, so was super excited when Mythos opened in Irene. The restaurant looks lovely, we were quickly seated, the waitress was polite. We were slightly disappointed by the food, some of our party ordered the Beef Yiro, the piece of beef where cut too large and most where mostly sinew. The manager was apologetic but did nothing else to rectify the situation. The Meze meat platter was acceptable.

First time here. It was really nice. The chips were amazing!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 I loved the flavors and the portions sizes. I just hated one thing. I went to the bathroom, and when I came back my milkshake was taken away. It was not finished and the lady double billed me, because I wanted a another milkshake.

The breaking of the plates... 🤔🤔🤔🤔 at some point it got annoying. But all in all I hade a nice time.

A friend and I had dinner here last night, greeted by our waitress Bridgette and directed to our table inside with beautiful decor of stone, white linen and blue accents and a mirror wall that stretches across the breath of the restaurant. I tried the Moussaka for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it, as I am a lover of eggplant, it was accompanied by a Greek salad with ample fresh feta cheese. My friend had steak and prawns as she couldn't decide between meat or fish. I'm yet to witness some plate smashing but I would definitely return based on the service received.

Love Mythos! And the Irene restaurant is no exception! Brilliant ambiance outside in the square, with a great menu and wine list! Good service! And delicious Greek food! Will be returning!

I love this Mythos!
Great food and friendly service, the restaurant and the staff always looks presentable. The portions are just right and the prices are very reasonable.
Frans Pretorius
Greek style restaurant. Fast and friendly staff. The prawb pasta was okay but expensive for what you get (lots of pasta with only a few prawns)
Diederik Van 't Hof
Very nice light and airy restaurant decorated in the obligatory Greek blue and white. Mellow Greek music plays unobtrusively in the background making for a pleasant atmosphere. Even the bottled water is Greek! (Not sure what difference it makes - but has a "cool factor" 😃) Had the grilled calamari heads as a starter. Could not fault the flavour - especially the lemon butter - delicious. The calamari was good, but could have been a bit crispier. The Kleftiko was outstanding!

I usually meet my girlfriends here for drinks and gossip, some eat, some don't, so I can comment on excellent service. The food is good. I've been to other Mythos restaurants and I think the quality in fourways is better. Overall, I'm not gonna stop going.

On our day out in irene we ended our day here for something small to eat. Nice vibey place and typical Mediterranean styled colours. Had a bit of atmosphere with people celebrating their birthdays and dancing with the staff and breaking plates. (Just some people throw too hard and the plates really splatter which could hurt someone)

We ordered the falafel, yiro and feta, and a pork souvlakia. All tasted very nice and their chips were amazing.

Just as far as service goes friendly staff and management. It was nice watching them shining and drying the wine glasses with care. Pity they kept giving us a wet beer glass, and the more my dad explained to the waitress to give a properly dried one and the reasons behind it , she eventually got it right.

Nice franchise which I enjoy eating from. The Irene branch is not my favourite as the atmosphere and service are lacking. And food which I have eaten before at other locations were made worse.

Although generally a really good restaurant and excellent food. Pricing is fair, can get higher as you order tapas to share.
Jacorien De Ru
Great Greek restaurant. Good tapas and other dishes. Not excellent, but satisfactory, will go again when in the mood for Mediterranean dishes or tapas.

With relaxing water fountains in the background, we enjoyed a delicious greek lunch today. We waited a bit long for the food and drinks, but overall we had a lovely relaxing lunch. Their cocktails are very refreshing, with meals with fresh ingrediants. I love their beef yiro with tzatziki served with fries. The decor is beautiful and calming. Will visit Mythos again, and soon!
Jean
Waited a long long time for a seefood for two, when it came, it had butter sauce on the seefood, which we explicitly asked not to be added, as my wife and I are allergic to butter. Now we are waiting again for a fresh plate..........

As a family we really love having our Sunday lunches here. The place is family friendly and always accommodating to our needs.

The waiters and management are always willing to help and the food is always fresh and tasty the way Greek food should be.

The spicy feta dip with some pita and the squid are two items I consistently order and love. I am disappointed that is is difficult to get octopus consistently at the restaurant. And I have never been disappointed by dessert. I love the franchise and particularly enjoy visiting this outlet.
Laura
The food was O.K. The service was a bit slow but O.K. But for the amount we ended up paying O.K was certainly not good enough. It took several attempts to get the drinks we had ordered. We ordered one of the mezze platters and the food was haphazardly slapped on the plate. There were dishes dished up right on top of other dishes so they ended up mixing. I'll think twice before going to this branch, I find Brooklyn's is much better. If it is s busy night avoid at all cost.
Cheryl Von Solms
Amazing tapas selection! The feta parcels and croquettes are divine. The wine list is pretty decent and the service good. I'll definitely go back.
Talita Jacobs
First time at Mythos and I really really enjoyed it! The service was good. The wine fantastic and the food was delicious, we ordered some tapas and it was A LOT of food, definitely seeing me again. Next time I'll try the one in Brooklyn!!

Felt like seafood and decided on Mythos because of their dependable service.

Settled on East Coast sole and my friend went for Kingklip. Mine was served with seasonal veggies and fries. Whilst the veggies were okay, the fish was just average, more towards bland. My friend was quite happy with his choice and could confirm this on how clean he left the plate....

Ambience = 3. Still a go-to restaurant if looking for engaging times and dependable menu

Food = 2.5. This time around didn't do the trick for me. Missed that pizzaz that we have become accustomed to with Greek cuisine

Service = 2. Not quite attentive, had to wait for longer periods this time around to access service.

Overall, great potential to take advantage of location if service could follow suit.
Melissa Claassens
Always enjoy greek cuisine and mythos never disappoints. Great menu to choose from with delicious fresh ingredients. Friendly service and great atmosphere ;)

Always wanted to try this restaurant as I enjoy Mediterranean cuisine. Sadly disappointed though. The menu was enticing, lots of options. Pricing seemed fair as it had an elegant appeal. Tables are a bit cluttered with advertisements - the elegant appeal waned fast. The atmosphere was somewhat noisy. I ordered a pita. Had to ask for a steak knife to cut through the wrap, somewhat unsuccessfully. No real taste and way too much fighting to get to bitesized portions. Not that it was anywhere close to being too large. The Greek coffee was most disappointing though. One should expect some sediment but not half of the espresso cup! Leaving barely a sip to enjoy. The floor manager confirmed that's how they serve it. Won't be back there again.

Mythos is my go-to place for a consistently fabulous meal. Whether its lunch or dinner, a quick bite or a party, the menu has something for everyone and tons of vegetarian options.

The waiters and staff at Irene are super friendly and helpful. The beers are ice -think arctic- cold and the atmosphere relaxed.

Pick from a range of meze (tapas) that can easily be shared (add on some warm soft pita and dips) or individual greek inspired dishes. Round off dinner with a slice of cake, some fabulous baklava or pick from a colourful range of macaroons!
Patricia Ann Bezuidenhout
Great place to be. The wine, the food was amazing and waiters are so friendly. Was really great had a starter to share, falaffels with hummus, our main meal was calamari nd veggies nd a wrap with veggies. We even had cake barone yummo check out the pics
Bernice
Love this place. Had dinner there on Friday night while the kids were at the movies. We shared a seafood platter and it was delicious! I had a chicken liver starter which was also divine. Staff are very helpful with allergies and know what goes into the food.

The decor inside is quite relaxing. The light coloured tables and chairs make it feel as though you should be at the beach. The bar is also setup really nicely.

The staff are friendly but things were a bit slow. Yes we were a table of around 15 but we booked in advance so they should have been a bit better prepared.

I wanted to try the meze but since this was a client lunch and I was the newbie amongst everyone, I didn't feel that comfortable sharing with others. Instead I ordered the Filleto Mythos which was cooked to perfection. I also ordered the baklava for dessert which was amazing.

Overall, a good experience. It's quite far from home but if I am in the area again, I would stop by to have another meal there.
Chokker
Greek food at its best. I had a good experience, with amazing food. We went
for the Tapas route and shared various dishes which was lovely. Unfortunately I’m
not be in a position to pronounce the Greek names of the various dishes we had
however every dish was made to perfection. The vibe on the evening was great
and enjoyed the evening as it was packed. I would recommend and book in advance.
Marelize Haasbroek
Had the best lamb shank at Mythos. Also love the small little dance and plate throwing for special occasions. And by the way - they sell the BEST macaroons and virgin moitos in Centurion!!!
Ayanda
Yummy yummy yummy food! I really enjoyed it and the Greek music. A bit costly but worth it. Service was excellent too, we had a great waiter.
Camiel Govinsammy
Stunning setup with average food. Service was average as well. I would eat there again only if I was really hungry. Overall it is a 3 star place!
Anton Barnard
Mythos in Irene Mall has a nice atmosphere and pretty decor, but unfortunately under-delivers as far as food is concerned. A while ago, we ordered a Meze Platter for two, in which the disappointing portion sizes left somewhat to be desired., considering the price of R275. The tapas platter for 2 at Doppio Zero South Downs, which is also R80 less than Mythos's, offers a lot better value and taste.

We then gave Mythos another chance on 29 December, and ordered 2 chicken dishes (Chicken Skara) with Greek Salad. When they arrived, not only was the promised Greek Salad missing, but the chicken breasts were almost inedible due to the breasts being extremely salty and, again, the portions were disappointingly small and clearly just slapped on the plate. Another order, for a Chicken Yiro, was OK, except for the old chips as a side dish.

All in all, disappointing for a venue which should offer slightly better quality than a budget restaurant would. Won't see us again soon.
Craig Nicholson
I really enjoyed the falafel starter however the sardines starter was a bit tricky to eat. My main of a meat balls in oregano tomato sauce was delicious even if the meat balls were shaped like logs. Service was good.
Markus Gschwari
Good food. Abysmal service. Waitress ignored us the whole night. They didn't bring one of the meze starters but added it to the bill anyway. Terrible.
Donavin Bezuidenhoudt
Went there for supper tonight with my mom and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Firstly it is a beautiful restaurant and it has such a warm, inviting and friendly atmosphere, which is a big plus
For a starter we had the dip platter with Hummus, Tzatziki and Ktipiti sauce.
She had her all time favorite, peri peri baby chicken (HOT) with cream spinach. Which was awesome! (Yes I had a bite)
I had a rump steak(MR) with veggies which I would highly recommend to anyone!.
Only thing that lacked was the service as the waiter was a little confused at times, and forgot out drinks once.
But Mythos Irene will definitely see me again and i recommend them to anyone!
