Review Black Bull Steakhouse - Cape Town

The food was great and with the dessert it was just very good, the service was of a high standard a nice place to go with kids as there are a playground to keep them busy

We visited Black Bull Steakhouse to try out the kiddies play area because we are always looking for nearby places to entertain the kids. When we arrived it was loadshedding (no power in the area) however they were still able to serve certain foods such as toasted sandwiches, burgers, livers etc. The kids really loved the play area and were amazed by the giant koi fish in the pond. There is a lot of space for the kids to run around and it feels safe enough. The outdoor area is enclosed to the kids can’t go wondering off. The service was good and the staff quite friendly, the parking area is a little tight but not too bad. The food was good and they had really good options for little kids (the mash and gravy was amazing)

Great place to meet up after work or over weekends. Child friendly which makes it perfect for family outings. Outside area is well planned around a children's play area complete with khoi fish pond and water fountain. Service is great. Very helpful and friendly staff.

My son is not one for going out to restaurants, but loved the food so much he's begging to go back for the hake and calamari combo. The mean is enough for two as a light meal. The choc mousse was delicious 😋 He's asked to go again tomorrow night.

Best Eisbein I've had, EVER. Crispy, succulent and tasty and served with perfect condiments. Also very generous portion. Just a pity smokers are allowed to sit right outside the windows and next to the door.

Great food and service. It has a nice warm environment and a varied menu. TVs and a bar to watch the sport. Cocktails, shooters and craft beer on tap. There's even a play area outside for the kids.

We had a wonderful experience here, the food is absolutely delicious, the service is fantastic, and very accommodating to the kids needs. I would highly recommend the eisbein.

Ambience was the best I've experienced, with soft music playing in the background. Loved that we didn't have to leave the Northern Suburbs to have great food and service... In fact Excellent food and service. Garth, our waiter, was friendly and made the evening more enjoyable. Quite a diverse menu with food tasting wonderful and portions sizes and presentation beautiful. Best sushi I've had in forever!! There is also a private room available for a small group (20-25) dinner function. A small wooden playpark for kids (suitable for -8yrs) offers some distraction.

We held a babyshower there this past weekend and it was fantastic. What a beautiful serving, service was great and food platters were amazing. We loved it and will be back soon

Great food (best ribs!), craft beer on tap, nice venue with indoor and outdoor eating. Large play area for the kids with enough seating outside if you want to keep an eye on them. Sufficient parking. All in all a great experience.

Wrong one chose incorrect branch. Bit managers from Hazendal branch need a wake up call to client service

We only ever get the ribs from here with some spinach and butternut on the side but everytime it is amazing. Would definitely say go try the ribs.<br/>

Staff is very friendly and attentive. Great food with great presentation. Amazing children play area, decor is a nicely balanced mix of modern with a ranch feel. Very clean.

Excellent food all round. Service, however , is very very poor! Waitress kept on disappearing and needed to be called. Come on guys you must train your staff!

Great friendly service, terrible management. Breakfast arrived with the wrong combination of things after waiting 40 minutes. Sent it back. Came back 5 minutes later with the correct ensemble but horrifically overcooked rubbery poached eggs. Took my plate myself in search of a manager, eventually found one who simply said: "I'll sort it out for you". Went to sit down. Waitress came over 5 minutes later asking if I wanted a whole new breakfast or if they should just redo the eggs. I said no thanks, nevermind, I'm not hungry anymore as by this time everyone else at my table had finished their meals. The owner was there, never came to apologize despite having seen how upset I was.

We are always super excited when we order sushi from Blackbull, because we know it's going to be mind-blowingly good! Thank you to the sushi chef for always making the most fresh and amazing sushi. Definitely the best sushi in Cape Town! 🙋

A pleasant overall experience. Menu has a good selection and average prices. Service is acceptable and so is the food. Great if you have kids I guess but if u don't it gets a little annoying with rhetoric kids running around screaming hahaha

The only thing to order at The Black Bull is pork ribs.<br/>Ordered 600g rack with baked potato<br/>Fall off the bone superbly prepared. <br/>Accompanied by draft lager <br/>Service was so-so<br/>Steakhouse adjoins kiddy playing area so be prepared for quite a din. If you have small kids - great but otherwise quite nerve jangling <br/><br/>PS - Maybe it was my imagination but first rack was top quality but second rack was not as good and of inferior quality. While the food was good the service was not that great. Unless you sitting inside away from the kiddies area don’t expect a quiet lunch (if you don’t have little ones) - but if you have kids it’s definitely a good spot to let them run wild and free with great jungle gyms

Went for breakfast. Not a huge breakfast selection. Very well priced and the food was delicious. They have a lovely play area for the children. Great familt restaurant

My boyfriend and I went to Blackbull, for the first time, to try out there sushi and it was Hands. Down. The. Best. Sushi. EVER! The fish is so fresh, all the elements used were on point. Definitely our new favourite sushi spot!

Decor was great, steaks were well priced. The nachos however were terrible. They were very bland, had no chillis or salsa on them, and the cheese had no taste. Sushi also very tasteless. The kiddies menu was however great. Give it a try if you are looking for a different steak place to go to.

The service was good but the food not so much, i ordered a burger, when i got it it was so soggy i could hardly eat it, and they used way to much cheese sauce on their burgers, i started getting nauseous,don't get me wrong i love cheese, but this was a bit much.

Rump steak not tender. Very chewy. Sirlion very thin. Good service from waiter. Nice atmosphere for whole family. Over all happy with the rest of the food.

The food was good and the service was amazing but the sushi seemed a bit over priced. And the cost is drinks was through the roof. Enjoyable enough but there are better places for sushi.

Definitely a family hot spot with a wonderful kids section. The food selection isn't great and the service is very average. Takes a while to get the bill and drinks orders etc. I wouldn't recommend it if you're going for the food or the service.

Love it here! Right up the road from our house - so it's a great place to have a few drinks - we love popping round for a cocktail and their delicious ribs! We have also had a number of other items on the menu, and loved it every time! Great local gem.

Went there twice,(wife three times) once for dinner and once for breakfast. For Dinner I had the ribs that were pretty good, my wife had the burger which she was happy with, the kids chicken strips was a winner. Second time was for breakfast, poor menu options and very mediocre food. What fails this venue is the service, absolutely shocking, non existent and the waiters don't seem to put in any effort, my wife went without me a third time and the service was even worse. On our first trip the waitress had to do "cutlery" while the restaurant was empty and other waiters just standing around. When my wife on her own experienced the same bad service she eventually had to go look for the waiter who had to "help at the Bar" at 10:00 in the morning? The owner seemingly sits and watches all of this unfold with not a care in the world (when we went fro breakfast he got two cups of coffee reading his newspaper before we even saw a waiter). Very sad for such a great place with decent food (Lunch and Dinner, NOT breakfast). Breakfast scores a 1, Lunch/Dinner a 3 and service a 0 hence a 1.5 score. If service does not improve sadly this place will not likely see the end of 2017.

From the phone call to do the booking, right till we left at the end of the evening, everything went smoothly. Agness Detrie was a great waitress and made us feel right at home. Our party of 4 all agreed that the food was great. My sister and her husband rated the food better than a lot of A list restaurants they have eaten at. I have only one complaint (more of a nit pick) my medium rump was slightly overdone. The Jailbreak desert was one of the beat I have had.<br/>Will recommend to family and friends any time. Best family restaurant in Blouberg, hands down. Kids love it and in summer they burn off all the energy while we can enjoy a good meal. I make this a regular visit. The menu is well priced.

Heard good things about Black Bull but I was very let down. I ordered the cheese burger with added mushroom sauce. Nowhere on the menu did it say that the cheeseburger was a burger with cheese sauce and the waitress didn't mention this either when I ordered. The burger was not good. It was very bland and both the cheese and mushroom sauces were terrible. The cheese sauce tasted like a packet sauce with some grated cheese added to it to make it look a little more appealing, while the mushroom sauce was chunky and congealed. <br/><br/>We attended the beer fest event, which was quite a fail. Aside from having eisbeins and pretzels on the menu, there was nothing else that made it feel like a beer fest at all. The music was terrible, loud sad breakup songs were played so loud no one could hear each other. We complained about the music as did a couple other tables around us but the dj refused to turn it down. I understand if it was adding to the mood but this was just killing it to be honest. <br/><br/>The service was quite good and the prices were reasonable but there are far better places to go to in the area so sadly I will not be back.

Went to Black Bull after our first choice was full. Owned by the same chap from Spar and Fruit and Veg it does have that Spur/Angus Grill feel. Menu not too huge steaks,ribs,burgers and chicken. We both had burgers and they were tasty with chips but would not say it's the best I've had. We were seated on a two seater by the bar if it's cold don't sit here the door was always open make sure you have a jacket otherwise. Service was good and attentive the bill for two burgers and two drinks was R300

Atmosphere is fabulous, service could be a little faster. Food was alright, nothing that couldn't be made at home with ease. Will definitely go back for the atmosphere and a drink!

Food was good. Service was good. But the entrainment for the kids is priceless. To sit and chill and enjoy a little time-out while your kiddies are happy - is just bliss!

The food is absolutely brilliantVenue is ok - love the plant shop next door Service is once good, 2nd time absolutely none existing!!  The drinks are extremely well priced, you can easily drink what you want as much as you want and it wont break the bankI will go back!PS have the beef ribs - it was the best I have ever tasted!

Great service (waitress' name was Jessica) and great food. Liked the music (jazz/smooth jazz) and not too noisy so one can actually have a good conversation with fellow diners. Best pumpkin and spinach compared to other restaurants who typically serve this as a side. With food of this quality, would have liked cloth napkins instead of paper though. Also, TVs showing sport is welcome but does clash somewhat with the ambience and music - one gets the idea that the restaurant is not quite sure what it wants to be. Upmarket sports restaurant or high quality but casual steak dinner restaurant? <br/><br/>Just my own musings. Nevertheless had a great time here and food/service was very enjoyable. Had rattlesnake rump (with avo and biltong) and would like to try other items on menu as well!

Very slow service. We felt invisible. Not even busy. Took over an hour to eat. Irish coffee up to sh.....t. Food very nice though. Big portions. Tasteful.

Service extremely slow hour and a half for a meal for 2 people. Unprofessional staff, needs lots of training. We left without any meal no one spent an effort very bad service

I visited Black Bull Steakhouse with my family. The staff at this brand new establishment were very warm and inviting and the atmosphere is exactly what the area needed. The food is alright and prices are fair. I do feel that the motorbikes that the kids are riding on around the outdoor courtyard is more of a hazard than anything else. One child almost knocked me off my feet, which it could have been a waiter with a hot plate of food. Anyway I am excited to see how this new restaurant does.
