Best place! Drinks are cheap, even cheaper during happy hour (5-7) Very very very prime food and the best service from the nicest people. Best atmosphere for big sporting fixtures! especially with a wife or galfriend who likes to hangout at decent places Give it a try, you won't regret i
So I come here often for the breakfast special. Usually on a brodate with my friend, or with a good book. I enjoy their other food and offerings as well, its just that this is so good, quick and easy if in a rush. The pricing and quality of this place is good.not just if you're a student, but a human being. That voodoo burger defo puts some food juju on me. But the waitrons, whom I share a profession with at the moment, are warm, friendly and on point. They go that extra mile and have good humour. I take my theoretical hat off to them. Now of Lord Commander Justin sires well over his wall Down South. Whenever I see him he is running around checking if the customers are okay. More so, he is always involved and helping - not doing their job for them in a judgemental fashion - his staff. I have respect for this. Happy staff, happy food consumptionists. Justin's a top bloke. Be more like Justin. So these guys get my nod of approval and anyone my stomach is a fan of, I'm a fan of theirs. Strong on.
Great service. Food is value for money
Great breakfast special. Real value for money. Friendly efficient staff made it a memorable experience.
They also have big screen tv's and a bar with a happy hour every day from 5-7pm. Great place to also come watch live sport
To start things off our waiter was hands down the best, he listened attentively to all our requests and gave the best suggestions. I'd like to thank him for the best customer service I've experienced in a while.
I chose to have a Mango G&T and let me tell you, it definitely has that well needed kick but the Mango definitely softens the kick. I'd recommend you come over for their happy hour you won't be disappointed.
It is a bar set up so don't be expecting a fancy interior but they could do with a revamp as the couches and place is looking a bit tired. This is the only reason I could not rate this place five stars.
The quesadias blowed us away, we had the pulled pork version and man I can't get the thought or taste of it out of my head. We were literally murmuring through every single bite. This must be what heaven tastes like if we could have a taste of it. That for me was the highlight of my entire Down South experience.
Portion size is great, definitely value for money.
It is quite quiet on a Sunday afternoon but we were told if we are looking for a more of a vibe Friday and Saturday night are it.
Overall I'd go so far as saying that this place is definitely a gem in Cape Town.
Really good chai latte, my favourite place to grab lunch particularly on grueling days at the salt mine. Really chill atmosphere and friendly staff.
Enjoyed the breakfast special this morning, such value of money as it is a good portion of food for the amount being charged. Also ordered a plate of blueberry flapjacks, they were excellently prepared. Soft, fluffy and warm, will definitely revisit for those. Of course the balcony allowed for a refreshing atmosphere looking out at the mountains.
This is the best place to eat in the area for me. The Texan aesthetic is so cheesy it has charm and the staff will always remember you even if you come just once. The food is god and reasonably priced with pretty large portions and the drinks are great. The cocktail list isn't that extensive but the bartender will mix anything together if you ask nicely.
I'm a regular here, it's genuinely my everyday go to . I love watching games here or getting in on the happy hour. It's a lovely go to for a chilled vibe after a long day . The food is not gourmet but it definitely makes me happy ☺️.
If you are a sports fan & love watching soccer or rugby whilst surrounded by other fans, this is the perfect place for you!
Very chilled, lotsss of students, bustling & the happy hour prices are great!
The food isn’t thaaaaat great but it’s okay 😂 I had their wings which I think I’d rate 6/10. Not too bad hey?
Great waiters too! ✨
It's sports season...and this is the place to come watch the latest sports games in this area. You see the screens from almost every seat inside the restaurant; whether inside or outside. I was there for the Happy hour...so drinks were my choice. The food menu is quite interesting, looking at what left left the kitchen repeatedly...the ribs, wings and burgers seem to be popular. Will give one of those a try next time

Went to down south foodbar for the first time over the weekend originally for drinks for a friend's birthday.
Happy hour was amazing and we surely drank our fill of their margaritas - some of the best I've ever sipped on (I'm really fussy when it comes to tequila cocktails).
We did then have some food, too. I ordered a pizza with ham, avo and feta which was great. Had a thin base, lots of cheese and avo is always a winner.
We also had wings and ribs which were basted o perfection, the meat just came straight off the bone and it was all so tasty.
Lastly we had some of their poppers - which wee recommended to us - and they were great. Unfortunately they were too spicy for me, but my partner ate the rest and was so impressed.
Overall, such a nice place. Typical bar vibe with the sport on and lots of people enjoying themselves.
