My party starter or after the party location!
Baghdad became my go to place after every event purely because of the ambiance and atmosphere. The staff make you feel like you are family and the drinks are always flowing. They make a mean steak and chips and the jack daniels is always on point!
One of my favorite places in Cape Town, definitely a must see if you are going pub hoping or need some time out for chillaxing and DON'T forget about the hoka pipes, they do have various flavors!
It's a cool place just to chill out and if you're in to shesha they offer that as well. The food is good, beat thing on the menu are the chicken wings other than that, there really is not much to say.
I had some left over entertainer vouchers and thought I would give this place a try despite never having even heard of it beforehand. As far as food goes this place is really a hidden gem! Baghdad is definitely set up more as a bar than a restaurant but this results in a more upbeat and fun atmosphere. I ordered the juicy jalapeño burger and I must say it totally exceeded my expectations. Full of flavor with a nice bite from the jalapeños and overall a very satisfying, filling meal. Our food did take a long time to be prepared (about 40 mins) especially considering that we were the only diners at the time but the wait was worth it. Our waitress was very friendly and did a good job otherwise. Glad I got to experience this restaurant.
The food here is surprisingly good for a whisky bar, not to mention how good their cocktails are. The wings are extra sticky - yum. And the waitresses are the friendliest ever.
Underrated but a classy, vibey space. Their selection of whiskeys are lavish & something dreams are made of but the shimmering gold is their great whiskey cocktail/Sours menu try any of them and I'm sure you'll be blown away. Prices ranging from 40-60 rand but made with quality bourbons you'll be pleasantly surprised
As a whisky lover and collector on a small scale, I really enjoyed the selection this whisky bar had on offer.
Initially you think it is a small collection they have, but sit down for a while and scan through the display, and you quickly see some sought after whiskies, limited editions and other hard to find bottles. They also have a good selection of well known whiskies.
The bar tender had good knowledge of the whisky on display and one could feel his passion too.
Prices of drams are reasonable, and like anything in life, you will have to fork out that little extra to get a shot of that limited edition dram or perhaps a single malt of over 25yrs
I had a dram of the recently limited release Lagavulin 8yr old.. Also part of Lagavulin's 200yr anniversary. Again something one can't easily find..so for me it was a no brainer choice. I also opted for a dram of The Old Malt Cask 28yr old. Rather special dram. Not cheap but well worth it. I have seen a few more very interesting whiskies which I have put on my shortlist to try out some time.
Don't expect a 5star interior here, but expect a 5 star selection. I would have loved to give a 4.5 or higher rating, but unfortunately the biggest let down for me was the poor quality glasses my dram was served in.
With both whisky's I ordered, the bar tender served me a square Johnny Walker gift pack glass. Spending about R200 per shot, I expected at least a Glencairn whisky glass. Or a Riedel perhaps. Those square gift pack glasses are good for Johnny Black or a Bells and soda, But not for a whisky of R2000 (cost), or more per bottle.
Such a cool bar for a unique whisky cocktail and a hubbly. Very cool decor with a chilled atmosphere...Tuesday night is great for a relaxed drink.
Yet another Long classic. I loved the previous small, dingy premises they had as it gave an aura of authenticity to a small backstreet shisha bar. But love the new place even more. They have good shisha and the staff is super helpful. The balcony gives you a nice view of Long Street without having the worry about the crowds of other establishments with similar views on Long.
If you are a fan of whisky, then well look no further! The selection is a real treat to relax after a long week and the bar tenders are wonderfully informative for the amateurs and pros. I enjoyed sipping on a tumbler or 2 and learning about some gorgeous whiskys from around the world.
I've only ever been here for drinks, but the vibe is great! Always a good night out! Their whiskey selection is amazing, I've never seen so many different types in one place! They do whiskey tastings which is a fantastic idea if you're not sure to try next.
