Fish and chips, the way it was meant to be! Well, arguably, wrapping the fish in an old newspaper would be more traditional (and slightly toxic), but the foil-lined paper wrapping they use at Melkbos keeps your fishy treasure toasty warm until you are ready to devour it. (And be assured, you will devour it. It's delicious.) This little hole-in-the-wall takeaway joint looks unassuming on first glance, but the throng of people waiting for their number to be called will confirm that it's bloody lekker food.

Ordered a lovely hake and chips that tasted fresh from the ocean while enjoying it on the beach. To be recommended (I don't often find a good fish & chips place to recommend). So this one gets an easy 4 stars.

Feb 12 2022 . Back at the West Coast's best fish and chips shop . Magnificent hake parcel for R85 . Easily enough hot food for two. October 19th . Here again for the most fabulous hake & chips served in thick heat retaining paper. July 30. Totally awesome hake and chips wrapped in heat retaining paper. Too much to eat. Fantastic value @ R80. April 10 2021 . Another fabulous hake and chips. Best on the west coast. Wrapped in great paper to keep the food hot . We returned for another 2 x hake and chips. Again both the hake and the chips were cooked to perfection. Impossible to make any complaint. Very delicious . Freshly cooked . Very hot. Fabulous hake and chips . The fish batter was awesome. The slap chips very hot. Served in a great heat saving paper. Highly recommended.

It's a much needed fish and chips take away on a cold rainy Friday evening. Support a small business and dig in. You dont do this every day, so enjoy it.

Their snoek samosas are awesome. They sell fishing bait and some basic tackle.

The best fish and chips we have found on the west coast, and beautiful coast to look at while you wait for your order 💗

Purchased dinner for five. Hake &chips, calamari & chips and Thai curry calamari with rice. All three options were very good. The Thai option was 10/10. I enjoyed the friendly service and great value for money. Thanks.

The best hake I've had in ages of not ever. I've found the staff to be helpful. It is obvious that they do effort to make your meal worth coming back for, unlike a lot of places that just want to make a couple bucks off every patron.
