This os a lovely bar with great toasties, we even used the venue to shoot at before. They have frequent shows in their theatre area. The building is under renovation so I cannot comment on how it has been affecting them.
I had my 30th there over the Easter weekend, and I have to say this place is fantastic! Service was amazing, and the owners / managers were so accommodating. The vibe and music is one of a kind, classy yet vibey. I cannot comment on their standard menu as I haven't had anything from it, but their catering menu for an event is fantastic! Such a little gem!
Great place to host a function, and also great for post-work drinks while the traffic dies down.
Always enjoy the atmosphere at Alexander bar. Went for a bit of improv the other night and grabbed a burger and some wine. Burger was cheap and super tasty and the wine glass was filled to the brim. Good stuff team.
Highly recommended Poulet Piaf!!!!! Luuurrrveeed it. The phones on the table.took me back in time, but a very innovative way to order:) Had a kir royale, made to perfection. loved the vibe and the music.
Headed here after dinner for some drinks. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service is great. The drinks are made well and in a quick manner. Sitting at a table gives you an added advantage of using the tables telephone to ring the bar for a new order. This system is so amazing as you don't have to keep getting up and making other people move to get a new drink
Had a great experience here on Sunday evening. Loved the decor and atmosphere here! Great for a casual date or a drink with friends. Was pleasantly surprised by the great quality of their food; in particular, the quality of the beef burger patty, in my cheese burger.. what a hidden gem. Such great flavor! Will be back.
This is still one of my favourite eclectic little bars / mini theatre venues.
To wrap up our Women's Day Celebrations, after dinner we headed over here for some coffees, hot chocolate and my fave Honey Jack Daniels Whisky.
My nephew had never been to this bar before so was quite intrigued by the retro dialing phones on eCh table. This and the fact that he was born long after these phones became extinct. He thoroughly enjoyed he novelty of calling our table from another table's phone.
Thank goodness it was quiet and not buzzing as usual so we could hear each other speak.
Of course I'll be back for drinks and a play!
One of my favourite spots in Cape Town. Very well designed, the staff are welcoming and the food is exceptional. You can also go watch one of the many shows upstairs, which makes it a great date night scenario.
Keep meaning to come here and finally did! It lives up to expectations of fine quality platters and decent foods. Beware of the snacks. The nuts are barely a handful and potato crisps is also about a handful of your good old lays. The wine isn't soo great either but their cocktails are tantalising!
The decor is sophisticated yet it embodies Cape Town's jest - try calling the bar with the outdated telephones, seriously, they work and you can order!! So rad 😱😈😝
It has a great setting of the outside area, especially in the spring & summer periods. The interiors are old school & quirky which makes it a warm and interesting ambiance to enjoy your drink. Ideal spot for Thursday or Friday evening drinks with friends and a bite of food, which is pretty good.
PS: I need to watch one the shows they are so famous for.
