Extremely good food and very intimate restaurant. Very well priced for the quality of food you receive.
You can tell the chef is passionate about what he does.
The watering staff let's it down a bit, one waiter never seemed to understand what we asked for. Whether it was an item on the menu or when we asked for the bill the other had to come running to assist.
I will still however give it 5 stars as the food and atmosphere make up for the staff.

The above was my initial review from 8 months ago, when we 1st visited Jean Luc's. I was abit sad to learn that they moved to the Sea Point area. The new location in the Mojo Market is a buzz with foodies. Jean Lucs is an establishment like no other.
The service levels haven't changed. The love of, and for, food is the same as I remember. Such juicy ribs and steak, Thick-cut chips and crispy fried onion rings. It just seems to melt in your mouth.
We had an awesome experience as we now have come to expect with Jean Luc's. This is still a must try for anyone who considers themselves a foodie.
We had the tasting platters and they were absolutely amazing! I have no idea how they put such a complex combination of fantastic meals and deserts together so quickly. Everything was perfect and it's the kind of meal that makes you want to remove one star from all your other reviews so this one stands out. Will definitely be back!
The food is to die for. They change their menu often. Worth a try since they cater for groups.
Jean-Luc's Kitchen is a great combination of delicious food, stylish plating and excellent service. While the menu is limited, each dish offers an exploration of flavor and texture.
I recommend the tasting platter for newcomers, which includes small portions of all main meals (excluding line fish). The menu is well priced (maybe even underpriced) and drinks are surprisingly cheap.
Absolutely worth a visit
Amazing flavours, with everything cooked perfectly. They had just opened so a full wine menu wasn't available yet. This also affected their ability to serve us quickly, with only one poor waitron having to run the entire front of house, playing hostess, barlady, and waitress all by herself to an almost full restaurant. That said she was friendly, and dis a great job. Jean-Luc also stepped out to greet us and make sure we were happy. We had plenty of time to chat on our date night and the wait here and there didn't exactly ruin the experience. Definitely recommended for couples.

I just had lunch and content I,m as content as cat who had a bowl of double cream. Simplistic and Comfortable, seating area. A haven from the heatwave in the Ciy today. We had a tasting platter for two, pork belly, tomato risotto , chalmar beef (medium rare & tender) these were all miniature but surprisingly quite filling. Quite a lovely combination of flavours. Dessert what a variety also miniature baked alaska, floating island, choc hotpot, creme brulee. Excellent service from our waiter James. 10/10
Excellent dining experience! The food is prepared with love and attention by a very passionate and creative chef. This place is a must if you are looking for quality and delicious food.
fantastic place for date night. The tasting board is def a must have for starters or even for mains. I love the warm reception we received from the time we got there until we left.
