Beautiful building. Bright light and spacious, but also cozy, if that’s possible! A Thoughtfully designed haven for fine fresh food. Delicate dishes, plated with pride and care! Great mix of locals and tourists, who love style and food. Forget parking nearby, it’s a walk.
We just ordered a vegan meal in from this establishment. How incredible it was. The freshest ingredients and warm delicious fire roasted sweet potatoes. We ordered the Agave Sunrise and the Holy Hummus & we’re surprised at how effortlessly vegan, wholesome and delicious it was. Excited to return 🎈
The ‘fresh from the earth’ plate is one of my fav meals in CT, I crave it all the time. Obsessed! Also tried the vegan brownie for dessert this time which came straight out the oven and was perfect. Already thinking of when I can come back here
What a phenomenal little gem in the heart of town. The minute you step foot through the beautiful green door it’s like you are transported into a peaceful new world. The decor is simple yet so magnificent including a lot of greenery and open brick walls. The staff are polite and professional and the food is beyond amazing. Being a vegan there is heaven with a new and extensive vegan menu with magnificent flavours and the presentation is exquisite.
The setting is really interesting with a botanical theme (pot plants all over the interior) along with a slightly confused astrology angle going on too (star motif projected onto the back wall). Really cute bar upstairs and balcony over Loop Street.
Wine options nothing too special, though enough on offer.
The star of the show is undoubtedly the Salmon, either the Blackened with Avo or the salmon dish accompanied by sweat peas and broccoli. Possibly the best piece of fish I’ve ever had.
Prices are fairly high all round. Go for the fish, it’s definitely worth trying at least once!
Overall a great spot for something new!
Homage 1862 on Loop Street was my venue of choice for a catch-up with family recently, and gets its inspiration from its double-story Victorian building built in 1862.
As it was a warm evening, as opposed to our booked table next to their fire, we chose to sit outside upstairs and enjoy the intricate iron stilts and wooden balcony overlooking the Pepper Club Hotel.
To eat, we all selected their recommended salmon, which was melt-in-your-mouth perfection and incredibly flavorsome to boot.. Think Salmon, Miso, Fynbos Honey, English Spinach and wood-fired Broccolini & Mange tout, with Yuzu Enoji, Crushed Sesame and Red chili finish this dish off beautifully!
Service: Attentive.
Interiors: Albeit on such a hot summers night, warm but pretty.
Food: Good.
I would definitely return for that fresh salmon again!

Had my birthday party at Homage last night. Pre-booked and a table was set up upstairs.
Firstly I found the place on the internet and had NO idea how it would be. My online research guided me to it.
Venue-really lovely. Good use of space and lovely vibe.
Our waiter was superb- friendly, helpful and attentive.
Starters was tasty, fresh and delicious.
My friends consists of serious meat eaters, vegans, lactose intollerant and Gluton intollerant people- and there were wonderful, delicious choices for everyone. Timing was goid etc.
Everybody had the time of their lives, we are all going back! All my friends commented that they will be visiting again. Thanks Homage!!
Dinner for two, cool new place, good and fresh food, kind waiter. This new restaurant is surely a very nice addition to the offering of Cape Town. The owners did a very good job in creating a home like ambiance , and the smell of wood fire oven matches the place perfectly. It’s nice to find that burnt flavour also in some dishes. What I particularly liked is the way food is cooked, not over cooked or over covered with sauces.
A true Gem!
Dinner tonight marked my third time back at Homage 1862 in less than a week! The warm welcome, friendly service and unbelievably honest food, will keep you salivating for more. There is an abundance of vegetarian meals, allowing you to create your own experience tailored to your tastebuds - although everything is fantastic. My favorite is the Vegetarian Curry, followed by the Blackened Salmon. Homage is a true Gem and I cannot wait to be back for more. Thanks to Dan, Olivia and the rest of the team!
First off this place is new and the staff are still cutting their teeth (Oct 2017), as a fellow restaurant owner I can commiserate. We went on an unexpectadly busy night and the staff were overwhelmed and struggling to keep up, but maintained their composure and made up for a mistake with a complimentary item off the menu. We had the ribeye and the tuna steak. Both were uncompromisingly delicious. The food has a wholesome home-cooked feel to it - veggies and greens are fresh and crunchy (the side salad is a meal on it's own) while the presentation is on a par with any gourmet kitchen in Cape Town. I believe there is, perhaps inadvertently, a huge selection of options for vegetarians with the focus not being on meat as much as a typical South African establishment. Ambience is perfect for a civilised evening out. Good acoustics with relaxed piano background music in an interesting and creative "earthy" setting that pays homage (!) to historical Cape Town.
The wine list is not particularly exceptional but will suite everyone's tastes with a few SA bordeaux blends and other mainstays to choose from.
Have the chocolate fondant for dessert.
