I had the Pasta Alfredo with creamy chicken and mushroom at extrablatte and I was assisted by Lee-ann who always gives exceptional service...this place is a must try with great food...and I rarely write reviews but I had to write one for this place...service and food is on point 👌
Definitely one of the go-to spots over the weekend. Only downside is that you have to arrive early to get a good spot at the top level where the vibe is more jolly. Drinks are great just the food that needs some work.
This review might be a bit biased seeing that I am a regular here but for good reason. Really great place to lounge and cool off. Nice variety of beers on tap. Great pipes. And if you’re visiting, you absolutely must try the snail buns. The only criticism I have is that it does tend to get rather loud on a Friday or Saturday evening.
I went for their happy hour drinks special from 5-8pm. Vast selection of yummy cocktails that are not watered down or taste like you're paying for less. Also had their feta, avo and pepperdew burger which was quite big. One of the tastiest burgers I've had and I will definitely be back! The vibe is cool and they have oka pipes on offer as well

Waiters were attentive and our order didn’t take very long. The portion sizes are pretty big and the food was good. Good ambiance and the music isn’t too loud either. They have great happy hour specials. Will definitely be going back.

The ambience was cozy and warm, which was great for a cold evening. The waitstaff were so quick to help when we arrived and our drink order came within minutes. The soundtrack was amazing so we really enjoy our evening. The food was lovely too, I had the butternut soup with warm, soft rolls and my friend had the Flammkuchen. Overall a great night and was extremely affordable.
One of the minimal decent places in the area that closes 2am, which is so lovely and convenient if you want a cosy late night out.
Just stopped for some dessert and coffee and I must say their Lindt Brownie is a major win, I also had the Apple Strudel which I feel was filled with too many raisins.
This cafe is always hustling and bustling with local alcohol enthusiasts... Lovely bar upstairs! They have good food and a good vibe. Try a pizza... Or go for a breakfast if you're interested in trying out some German cuisine. I've tried a number of things and was never disappointed.
Probably one of our favorite places to go to, usually for a pipe and drinks only. The pic & dip item on the menu is quite tasty too.

Not the ideal place for supper. More or a quick bite with kick ass cocktails. Their cocktails are so good I don't think it classifies as 'pink drinks'
Nice vibe, had Chilli poppers and fries, really enjoyable, will definitely have again, waiter was great and accommodating, have often been to this venue, only issue is that that a price of a Hookah is R95, bit pricey, but awesome for a relaxed session to catch up and watch sport.

i've been there twice before and i had a great experience both times . i've only had their pizza though . all the flavours i had were amazing . they use quality ingredients and the pizza still tastes great as leftovers the next day lol . their wines and cocktails are amazing too . they make the best Mai Tai's in my opinion .
We went there for a German class gathering. We were all able to enjoy a lovely traditional German meal, 'Currywurst'. The price is quite expensive, but the location is very central. We were sitting outside and we had a nice view of the stadium. The staff were however rude and unfriendly. It felt as if they did not want to be there to serve us, or perhaps they lacked experience. This was the only downside of our dining experience.
Had a lovely evening here,but then again every time that I've come here has been excellent! Our waiter,Sbu, was super helpful with decision making regarding food and drinks and also highly entertaining. He handled our group of 10 with ease. The food was of a excellent quality and truly believe they have some of the best cocktails! The atmosphere was relaxed and vibey. One of my favourite places!
My first time at this place and it seems to carry a decent vibe. Went to catch up with friends and have drinks and a light meal. The food served was really good, however the same can't be said about the service from our waiter. The manner in which he operated, was like he didn't really feel to be serving our table. Before we left, I asked for a glass of ice water with lemon, only to be served with warm tap water with no ice or lemon. Who serves a someone warm water, needless to say, I didn't drink of said water.
I've been here once. A friend of mine booked the top floor for her birthday celebration. It's a really cool space - quite spacious in that it has lots of comfortable seats, a bar, dance floor and large balcony with a great view. The drinks at the bar were very good!
Good portions for the price, good range of items too. Wonderful location along the Green Point Promenade I had a Cajun chicken salad and it was lovely. I did not like their mint tea though.
Had a really good start to my birthday morning. Our waitress was absolutely stunning. She was friendly and engaging and had a beautiful smile. We were there on the morning of the 14 June.

The food and drinks were excellent, try one of their famous burgers. Atmosphere is very nice in both the smoking and non smoking sections. Wait for help was sometimes a bit long but the place was packed when we were there. Overall a good experience.
An interesting rather eclectic mix of contemporary street cafe, Italian pizzeria and German brewery. Good atmosphere, the music a bit overpowering, but a nice busy little spot. A double story building so choices of inside, outside, pavement and balcony.
Went the "German" route and had a very respectable Meatloaf with a Weissbier. Tasty, well presented, if a bit expensive. Good spot to meet friends and have a simple, robust meal.
I love this place and it a location, hard to miss as it's along Greenpoint main road, service is good and food delicious, good prices and buffer breakfast is worth the try. Love the decor and that it has outdoor seating, lovely for the summer evenings with cocktails and good company. The "Pick n Dip" is my favorite

Good location, nice staff, free wi-fi, nice music. The fillet and fajita wrap were delicious. It's not a premium restaurant but it's a very good place to eat. Price are very reasonable.
Always enjoy coming to Cafe Extrablatt, the food is really good, value for money cause they quite generous with their portions. My friend and I shared this chicken pita bread and it was so filling and delicious!! I have been here in the evenings an its really a nice vibe at night.
Cool spot for casual dining with friends and family. The service here is really good. Our waiter was always visible and explained the German dishes on the menu to us thoroughly. We got there at 6pm, right on time for their happy hour which takes place from 5pm-8pm. To eat I had the chicken schnitzel which I would not recommend to anyone but the portion was filling, my friends had the seafood platter which was quite delicious and filling too. We stayed for some shisha afterwards. When I asked to cancel my strawberry daiquiri order for a hot chocolate, I found out that the cocktail was already in process so the manager gave me a hot chocolate on the house, and I still got my strawberry daiquiri.
I'd suggest this place to anyone looking for a chilled hang out.
Cafe ExtraBlatt was very welcoming along with great service. Our waitress was very comforting and made us feel at home the minute we walked in. I ordered the Bacon Burger with the chicken patty and believe me when I say it was made to perfection. Definitely a place I'll recommend to friends and family for a easy social Saturday Lunch.
I've only ever had good experiences at Cafe Extrablatt. The food is tasty, portions are generous and service is good. I ordered from the "pick n dip" menu - calamari with chips, two pizza buns and garlic mayo. My friend ordered the vegetarian pizza. Both meals were served timeously. The atmosphere at Cafe Extrablatt is great - especially on a Saturday night when it's usually busy. I'd definitely go back and try the other "pick n dip" options.
This is my first visit to cafe Extrablatt, and it will not be my last. The decor is chic and warm, we sat on the balcony and enjoyed the lovely weather. I ordered the basic omelette and my hubby got baked potato with salad and both orders were just perfect. I loved the place and my next visit will be on Sunday morning to try the brunch buffet ... sounds yummy :)))))
I only go here for the breakfast buffet and I love it. It's a great deal, on a nice location and the staff are legit. It's a nice spot to take a date on Weekend morning and then continue your stroll down fit people Avenue.
Tasty, well-priced food. Great drinks specials with a good selection of beer. It can get a bit loud as the restaurant is quite big, but the vibe is always great. An especially popular spot when events are being hosted at the stadium.
Went there for the breakfust Buffet with family. They had a Good variety of food, and very good coffee. Definite if you have a big breakfast appetite!
We were only here for cocktails so cannot comment on the food although they do come highly recommended. Prices were cheap and we were there during happy hour so only paid for half the drinks ☺️

A very good view from our seating on the elevated "couch".If you have a very busy day of you , start off with this filling breakfast/brunch buffet on Saturday's and Sunday's then do your touring. It will last you the whole day.
We tried the R99 breakfast buffet here on Saturday morning. It's a bright and sunny venue with service to match. Excellent breakfast, nice venue, good service. We'll definitely be back.
I've been wanting to visit them for a while now. Decided to get lunch here the other day and was pleasantly surprised by the larger than normal selection for vegetarians. The service was friendly.
I opted to try their veg burger with camambert cheese. The actual patty was good but there was too much lettuce and it kept falling apart. The fries were also all hollow inside - not sure if it was a bad batch of potatoes. My friend ordered the cheese burger with a beef patty and said it was nice but nothing more.
Overall, pleasant lunch and the veg burger was enjoyable. I am looking forward to going back to try their pizza and maybe butternut soup.
I've only ever been to Café Extrablatt in the evening when they have a Dj playing at the top section. Both times I've eaten here, I had a pizza. Although this is not the most gourmet pizza you'll eat, it is highly satisfying. Their prices are quite reasonable and they have quite a few meals to choose from.
It can get a bit loud when sitting at the top, but I do think that the music along with their Hubbly pipes is what attracts people. Service can be a bit slow sometimes.
I had the biggest, most delishious feta, peppadew and avo burger ever. Happy hour cocktails for R30 do not disappoint! Extrablatt is so awesome, there is no reasons why this place souldn't be packed on a friday evening.
I got the chance to have dinner at Extrablatt and it was surprisingly good :) I've only ever had breakfast there so i didnt know what to expect.
There is happy hour between 5-8pm, but beware the fine print that says not on public holidays and event days...
The menu is vast, and really reasonably priced. There's a German influence with a selection of the favourites, so we chose from those - i opted for chickem schnitzel and my bf had the beef roulade with sauerkraut and fired potatoes. Both were good!
Our waitress was lovely and friendly.
One note, the menus have seem better days, hopefully next time i visit they have beem replaced!
We ended up here because we wanted to watch a sports match and this is one of the only places with a tv. At first I wasn't too impressed - the menus were sticky and worn down. I warmed up at how lovely the staff were. They turned up the volume for us and were really patient when we kept changing tables to find the best view. We didn't feel pressurized to order at a rapid rate unlike a lot of restaurants in Cape Town during December who just want to get people in and out and in again, and at the same time, we felt looked after. The vibe here is cafe meets pub and the selection of drinks is good too. A perfect place to watch a game :)
My Brother and I came here for breakfast. Fast and great value. Very nice coffee and great service. A very nice setting to have breakfast. It has a #Hemmingway feel to it.
Very very nice. My friend and I went on a Monday night and enjoyed the happy hour and their special:2 pizzas for R99. The chicken pizza was amazing! We alert back for their Wednesday buy one burger get one free special and once again were impressed. Both our waiters were super friendly, professional and made the experience all the more enjoyable. I'd highly recommend a visit here.
This is a decent food spot, they have a good selection on their menu and are incredibly well priced!
If you want to pop somewhere for a good meal this is always a good go-to place for simple laid back food and a chilled environment.
I have yet to try their weekend breakfast buffet but every time I've walked past, it looks seriously delicious!
The only real negative they have is I've found their service pretty slow and on one occasion we were ignored by our waiter for most of the time we were there!

I was there for a birthday event of a friend and the service was incredible. Despite the fact that the place was absolutely packed, our drink orders and food orders were taken very quickly and the food arrived quickly as well.
I've only had the pizzas there, but the ones I tasted were very good. They have a massive pizza that you can split with one or two other people, and you can customise the toppings quite a bit. The prices were very reasonable as well.
The atmosphere is warm, and the place looks very nice. The seating was quite comfortable.
I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a night out with friends with decent food and a chilled atmosphere.
So I have only had the pizzas but if the rest of their food is as good then this is a great spot to visit. The crudo pizza is my favourite. A simple Serrano ham, parmesan cheese and rocket concoction on a thin base. A true classic. I am eager to try their breakfast buffet as well.

We've been here a couple of times. The service is always amazing. The food, however, is quite average. It isn't too pricey, so I guess you get what you pay for.
So on a hot summers day - this is where myself and a friend ended up having some cocktails and munchies. I was so hungry and couldn't help myself to ordering my meal fast enough. Not long and it came - yes, it was delicious!!! Had the pick n dips. Value... yes, quality... yes, quantity...definitely yes. It was my first time here and I thoroughly enjoyed my cocktails and munchies!!! Venue was nice and clean, would definitely want to go back with a group of friends. Well done team!!!
Great place! Came here for the buffet breakfast, which did not disappoint, and is very reasonably priced. Omelettes made as you like, with all the trimmings. Service (Catherine and Rebecca) was great. Friendly and attentive staff, great vibe. Definitely coming back!

I've been angling for a Zomato meet up for a little while now and Cafe Extrablatt was a great place to do this. Situated on Greenpoint main road, it offers a lovely hangout and chill spot to enjoy a glorious day in Cape Town.
On the food side, they have an all you can eat breakfast buffet with an unlimited amount of cheese and croissants - basically the only thing that you should be eating for breakfast, so no complaints there. Their freshly squeezed orange juice is delish and definitely worth a recommendation. They also have this 'omelette guy' who literally flames up the pan on the gas, the downside is that there's enough oil to lubricate 5 and a half cars!
With such an extensive menu I had a hard time choosing what to order. After reading some reviews I knew I had to have a freshly squeezed orange juice at least. It's not a large glass for 25 bucks but was good. I finally settled for the biltong and brie burger with cajun chips. The roll was massive, basting very nice and overall satisfying. Curious to visit for a buffet brunch.
My friend and I went through a stage of visiting Café Extrablatt everytime we planned our weekly catch up sessions. It’s a good half way meeting point for us, they have ample parking over the road and there is always a spot on the balcony for us to drink wine, grab a snack and catch up on all the things girly. I have no idea why we’ve never taken any pics but we’ve tried out a decent amount of their food and wine over the years. Wine – they serve asara which gets a big thumbs up from me (memories). Food – their menu is extensive with everything from pizzas to salads, burgers, steaks, snacks etc. The waiters are a hoot (well ours always are) - full of jokes and always willing to listen to our complicated sharing orders. Prices are good – they have a big pizza (40cm with 4 toppings) for 120 bucks – which is pretty much a steal.

I didn't know this, but Cafe Extrablatt is actually part of a massive global brand and the European influence is strong with this one. We went there for the breakfast buffet, which I highly recommend if your appetite has trouble sticking to a budget. I had an omelette which they make right in front of you -
and it was delicious! The freshly pressed orange juice is an absolute must as is a spoonful of Nutella on your toast!
To be honest I never knew that this place was a world-renowned franchise. A big space perfect for any function with an owner who puts so much effort into every aspect of the establishment. I had a yummy omelette from the breakfast buffet which was made right in front of me. The freshly squeezed orange juice is also superb.
I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast here, mainly because it's a buffet and you have the luxury of eating a whole plate of cheese if you want to without getting judgey eyes. I restrained myself on the cheese and threw a croissant, some cold meats and the delicious mini pork sausages into the mix. Now I'm no croissant expert, but this one was perfectly buttery, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Just the way I like it. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed, friendly and the orange juice was the best I've ever had - but I did find the buffet area lacking a bit on the pastry side of things, and I missed the presence of salmon (which I do abuse at a buffet, I'll admit). Overall, a rather good brekkie spot!
Every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday, Extrablatt puts up a marvelous breakfast buffet spread. Oh and the orange juice - you must taste the orange juice. We had the pleasure or meeting the owner: a delightfully vibrant man with a great love for his restaurant and customers. The omelettes are made freshly in front of your eyes which makes for a fun show. Whatever the occasion, Extrablatt is guaranteed to be fantastic value for money with a variety of options for individuals of all ages.

A great spot for my first Zomato meet up! Cafe Extrablatt is definitely worth a breakfast visit. With the option of an a la carte menu or the buffet. The buffet was delicious with a range to choose from. Healthier fruit, yoghurt, muesli and toast options to a cooked breakfast of omlette, bacon, sausages. They had croissants on offer too, as well as the more European style of cheeses and cold meats. The freshly squeezed orange juice is fantastic too.

I went for the omelette, what's great is that the chef lets you pick your toppings at the buffet and makes it right there and then in front of you! The freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious!

Went to extrablatt one Saturday morning for the buffet breakfast. The food was awesome and so fresh will recommend this for all breakfast lovers.
The food is basic, but tasty and good value for money. The staff have always been attentive and extremely friendly! Nice for a quick dinner!

We stopped in for a quick coffee and snack on our way to the Waterfront and were pleasantly surprised by this gem. We got both got an Americano and shared the crumbed mushrooms pick 'n dip. Both were huge and our bill came to less than R100. It was also delicious. The service was great as well. We will be back to try more!

We went for the breakfast buffet...and we are obsessed! At just R95.90 per person, this is an amazing deal. They have serving trays filled with cheeses, cold cuts, yoghurt, jams, bacon, sausage, baked beans, and more! Plus, they have an station where you can order a custom made omelette.
We arrived early (around 9)and the service was outstanding. We took our time and stayed for about an hour and a half. It got much more crowded later on, causing the service to suffer a bit, but overall we can't complain. Our only real complain was the tiny size of the water glasses...but we asked for bigger ones and the problem was solved!
We will certainly be back to stuff our faces another day!
I love this place! My mom and I stumbled upon it when walking through green point! The staff are always happy and welcoming! Delish bubbly' and great food and have a great selection of cocktails! Their happy hours are the best! Be sure to go! 👌🏼

Had very yummy pizza-snailbuns and drinks, with a dessert of apple strudel and gluhwein and white chocolate hot chocolate. Loved it! Tanya was an awesome waiter and very helpful and friendly! Shame that such a nice place is this quiet! It deserves a bit more attention!

The ideal place for a nice breakfast over the weekend. Good food and service. Love the way the breakfast buffet turns into a lunch buffet without extra charge. Worth a couple of more visits.
Great casual setting with good food and mediocre service. Situated close to Cape Town Stadium it makes the perfect meet up point before a show or sporting match at the stadium. Affordable prices and food was good. Service was a bit slow but love the fact that on a warm summers day they have mist sprayers in the doorway to cool you down. We ordered the big pizza which is a 40cm pizza with any 4 toppings it fed 2 and with some left over.Main problem when visiting will be parking

What a spectacular atmosphere, both sophisticated yet relaxed. I was put at ease by the warmth and the service, and really enjoyed the hearty butternut soup on a cold evening.

Had a look at the menu before I sat down which looked good but unfortunately they only had the condensed "concert night" menu on offer.
I order the pom frits (fries) to start with as I would be here a while. The fries were good and the 2 dips excellent.
Service is a bit slow though. Been waiting for about 20 min for waitress to return so I can order a main meal. I eventually ordered the Alfredo Fettuccine and I must say it was really really good.
Parking was slightly tricky as Green Point gets busy on a weekend evening. The decor is modern, comfortable and not too pub-like. A nice spot to chill with friends. Enjoyed the DJ upstairs. The pizza snailbuns were wonderful! Think cinnabons but instead with pizza. So filling and only R35. I would go back for that alone. The okka pipe/ hubbly bubbly was also good.
The atmosphere was great as build up started for the Rugby World Cup quarterfinal - South Africa vs France. The German food was delicious. We also ordered wings, which was just as delicious. I can recommend the Raspberry craft beer!

We really had an absolutely fantastic time when we visited this restaurant on the 3rd of November.
This was the first place in Cape Town with the cocktails were really well priced where one could actually taste the alcohol in it.
The service was exceptional , we were helped by Christina who did an absolutely fantastic job she definitely does stand out with the exceptional service she offers , I would 100% recommend that anyone who visits this fine diner, ask to be assisted by this awesome lady.
At Extrablatt Cafe you definitely get your money's worth. Excellent food and the atmosphere is wonderfully. Enjoyed a chilled night out with my besties. For mid week and the eve of Women's day we enjoyed the happy hour cocktails which lasts from 5pm until 8pm. The food came nicely presented and tasted yummy enjoyed the sweet pototoe fries. An all round good evening and great setting to just unwind.
