Review Cafe Extrablatt - Cape Town Central

The atmosphere was great as build up started for the Rugby World Cup quarterfinal - South Africa vs France. The German food was delicious. We also ordered wings, which was just as delicious. I can recommend the Raspberry craft beer!

Really great pizzas, with a decent selection of wines. It’s right across from the DHL stadium so a great place after a sporting event.

Really nice! Their Saturday breakfast buffet is amazing! Food was good, atmosphere was a vibe.. waffle was slightly undercooked and service good have been quicker but overall 10/10

We really had an absolutely fantastic time when we visited this restaurant on the 3rd of November. This was the first place in Cape Town with the cocktails were really well priced where one could actually taste the alcohol in it. The service was exceptional , we were helped by Christina who did an absolutely fantastic job she definitely does stand out with the exceptional service she offers , I would 100% recommend that anyone who visits this fine diner, ask to be assisted by this awesome lady.

At Extrablatt Cafe you definitely get your money's worth. Excellent food and the atmosphere is wonderfully. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a quick bite or just to come and enjoy the cosy vibe . Top notch 👌 and for that it deserves a 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from me . Enjoyed a chilled night out with my besties. For mid week and the eve of Women's day we enjoyed the happy hour cocktails which lasts from 5pm until 8pm. The food came nicely presented and tasted yummy enjoyed the sweet pototoe fries. An all round good evening and great setting to just unwind.

Went for a wonderful family gathering. We were greeted with a smiled, served with smiling faces and our sending off was with smiles. Perfect venue, service & atmosphere. Special thanks to Gugulethu for adding that special touch.

The best place to have after hours cocktails and good food. Mo-Fr cocktail happy hour from 5pm to 8pm. 50% off cocktails. Monday is pizza night, 2 for 1. Really the best hang out spot in the Atlantic Seaboard. German owned 😉

Covid 19 protocols were strictly observed here. It can get crowded here. As people come here to smoke, have some shisha and also enjoy football matches. Staff here were very nice, they assisted with our choice of food. The lamb cutlet and potato mash was great but could use some salt as well as the rice with beef. The waiter then indicated that their meals are prepared without salt.. so we should have requested for it to be added 🤦‍♀️.

I had the Pasta Alfredo with creamy chicken and mushroom at extrablatte and I was assisted by Lee-ann who always gives exceptional service...this place is a must try with great food...and I rarely write reviews but I had to write one for this place...service and food is on point 👌

I stopped in for a drink here after a grueling race 2day. Wonderfully inviting service. Just has a Dom Pedro. Lovely atmosphere and I could see people feasting on a buffet breakfast. Really nice.

Definitely one of the go-to spots over the weekend. Only downside is that you have to arrive early to get a good spot at the top level where the vibe is more jolly. Drinks are great just the food that needs some work.

This review might be a bit biased seeing that I am a regular here but for good reason. Really great place to lounge and cool off. Nice variety of beers on tap. Great pipes. And if you’re visiting, you absolutely must try the snail buns. The only criticism I have is that it does tend to get rather loud on a Friday or Saturday evening.

I went for their happy hour drinks special from 5-8pm. Vast selection of yummy cocktails that are not watered down or taste like you're paying for less. Also had their feta, avo and pepperdew burger which was quite big. One of the tastiest burgers I've had and I will definitely be back! The vibe is cool and they have oka pipes on offer as well

First time visit to Cafe Extrablatt. Quite an interesting place I must add. We sat outside with a view of the stadium. Ordered starters (chicken fingers) and mains (pasta, schnitzel and wings). Good value for money.

Waiters were attentive and our order didn’t take very long. The portion sizes are pretty big and the food was good. Good ambiance and the music isn’t too loud either. They have great happy hour specials. Will definitely be going back.

Stopped by the establishment to have lunch with my partner i had ordered a pizza which was ok and my partner ordered a burger which was huge and tasty.The service was a little slow.The restaurant had a peacfull vibe to it even though the place was packed on a sunday afternoon. We had a table outside which was lovely and you can see the stadium directly from the restaurant. Nice atmosphere okish food what more can i say.

Terrible service. Impractical environment -  the music upstairs was unbearably loud to the point where you cannot hear the person sitting next to you nor could the waiters hear our orders. We then asked to be seated outside on the balcony in attempts to get away from the claustrophobic environment inside. This was the first incident that eluded to the idea that the establishment tries to seat as many patrons as possible without considering their comfortability. The main incident and actual reason for this review is linked to the above mentioned seating arrangements and occurred when the waiter preceded to tell us to shift our table to allow more people to be squeezed in to the already cramped balcony area (they were rearranging to seat a party of over 10 people to a table that could only comfortably seat 6). He then preceded to move our table backwards against another party and while doing this picked up the hookah pipe carelessly which lead to the burning hot coal falling on to my lap and shoes while knocking over my drink, which then spilled on me as well. I then asked for the manager in attempts to resolve the dangerous situation. The floor manager was first to arrive as they felt that it was not a serious enough situation to call the general manager. His solution was to request that I somehow remove my pants or return tomorrow to drop it off so they could "take it to the dry-cleaner", which in either circumstance would be utterly inconvenient. I then asked if he could remove the hookah and drink from the bill because those were the 2 items knocked over on to me, however, he now believed that the situation required the general manager because it suddenly involved money which is all they seem to care about. The general manager then apologised insincerely and proceeded to tell us that he would not take anything off the bill because it was an "accident". I then told him that this is not how they should be dealing with a customer grievance in this way especially because the situation could have been so much worse if i had to suffer a first degree burn. He then gave the ultimatum that he would only remove the hookah or the drink. After much back and forth whilst still being dissatisfied i unwillingly agreed to the removal of the hookah from the bill. I would not recommend anyone support a business that only cares about their bottomline and not about their customers.

The ambience was cozy and warm, which was great for a cold evening. The waitstaff were so quick to help when we arrived and our drink order came within minutes. The soundtrack was amazing so we really enjoy our evening. The food was lovely too, I had the butternut soup with warm, soft rolls and my friend had the Flammkuchen. Overall a great night and was extremely affordable.

One of the minimal decent places in the area that closes 2am, which is so lovely and convenient if you want a cosy late night out. <br/>Just stopped for some dessert and coffee and I must say their Lindt Brownie is a major win, I also had the Apple Strudel which I feel was filled with too many raisins.

This cafe is always hustling and bustling with local alcohol enthusiasts... Lovely bar upstairs! They have good food and a good vibe. Try a pizza... Or go for a breakfast if you're interested in trying out some German cuisine. I've tried a number of things and was never disappointed.

Not the ideal place for supper. More or a quick bite with kick ass cocktails. Their cocktails are so good I don't think it classifies as 'pink drinks'

Nice vibe, had Chilli poppers and fries, really enjoyable, will definitely have again, waiter was great and accommodating, have often been to this venue, only issue is that that a price of a Hookah is R95, bit pricey, but awesome for a relaxed session to catch up and watch sport.

i've been there twice before and i had a great experience both times . i've only had their pizza though . all the flavours i had were amazing . they use quality ingredients and the pizza still tastes great as leftovers the next day lol . their wines and cocktails are amazing too . they make the best Mai Tai's in my opinion .

We went there for a German class gathering. We were all able to enjoy a lovely traditional German meal, 'Currywurst'. The price is quite expensive, but the location is very central. We were sitting outside and we had a nice view of the stadium. The staff were however rude and unfriendly. It felt as if they did not want to be there to serve us, or perhaps they lacked experience. This was the only downside of our dining experience.

Had a lovely evening here,but then again every time that I've come here has been excellent! Our waiter,Sbu, was super helpful with decision making regarding food and drinks and also highly entertaining. He handled our group of 10 with ease. The food was of a excellent quality and truly believe they have some of the best cocktails! The atmosphere was relaxed and vibey. One of my favourite places!

My first time at this place and it seems to carry a decent vibe. Went to catch up with friends and have drinks and a light meal. The food served was really good, however the same can't be said about the service from our waiter. The manner in which he operated, was like he didn't really feel to be serving our table. Before we left, I asked for a glass of ice water with lemon, only to be served with warm tap water with no ice or lemon. Who serves a someone warm water, needless to say, I didn't drink of said water.

I've been here once. A friend of mine booked the top floor for her birthday celebration. It's a really cool space - quite spacious in that it has lots of comfortable seats, a bar, dance floor and large balcony with a great view. The drinks at the bar were very good!

We support this location on a weekly basis. Tonight the manager refused to serve us a sheesha downstairs (outside) because there's "no function upstairs" This is despite having served us a pipe seated in the same location on numerous occasions. Function or not, this rule doesn't make sense. Otherwise a very nice place, when a different manager is on duty.

Good portions for the price, good range of items too. Wonderful location along the Green Point Promenade I had a Cajun chicken salad and it was lovely. I did not like their mint tea though.

Had a really good start to my birthday morning. Our waitress was absolutely stunning. She was friendly and engaging and had a beautiful smile. We were there on the morning of the 14 June. <br/>The food was tasty and cost effective. We will definitely be back for a supper with family and friends

Went there to catch up with a few friends and Sat upstairs. Food was a bit steep but tasted good. Had the pick and dip deal, was really excited about the pizza roll and it was a roll with melted cheese on top. The atmosphere is great but the music is way too loud for a anybody to have a conversation. The staff was friendly and efficient.

<br/>The food and drinks were excellent, try one of their famous burgers. Atmosphere is very nice in both the smoking and non smoking sections. Wait for help was sometimes a bit long but the place was packed when we were there. Overall a good experience.

An interesting rather eclectic mix of contemporary street cafe, Italian pizzeria and German brewery. Good atmosphere, the music a bit overpowering, but a nice busy little spot. A double story building so choices of inside, outside, pavement and balcony.<br/><br/>Went the "German" route and had a very respectable Meatloaf with a Weissbier. Tasty, well presented, if a bit expensive. Good spot to meet friends and have a simple, robust meal.

I've only ever been to Cafè Extrablatt for social gatherings. I think it has a great atmosphere for such things, especially when wanting to watch the soccer. The restaurant itself is very average and the desserts were very disappointing. If you're wanting to have a good Hookah pipe - and chill session with your friends I'd definitely recommend it.

Cafe Extrablatt has great food and their service is friendly but resosnably slow. The 1st floor is the restaurant and the 2nd floor is a pipe lounge. Awesome vibe and great music. Prices pretty steep though.

I love this place and it a location, hard to miss as it's along Greenpoint main road, service is good and food delicious, good prices and buffer breakfast is worth the try. Love the decor and that it has outdoor seating, lovely for the summer evenings with cocktails and good company. The "Pick n Dip" is my favorite

Good location, nice staff, free wi-fi, nice music. The fillet and fajita wrap were delicious. It's not a premium restaurant but it's a very good place to eat. Price are very reasonable.

I think Extrablatt is an institution, but only became familiar to me through friends from overseas that stayed close by... Anyway we met for a catch up coffee here, and the coffee was great...strong yet creamy, just what you need to get the day going.. The only thing that didn't really impress me was with the staff that stand around and chat especially when you're looking for a waiter and they're nowhere to be found. Also the outside sections(especially the balcony) doesnt really match up to the inside... It's slightly dirty and not as much care is put into it. Maybe something to look into... Other than that, nothing to fancy or over the top.

If I had to describe this restaurant it would be, 'average'. Everything from their menu, food and drinks to their setting and vibe on a Friday night was average. The waiter suggested their lamb chops for me to eat as it was a popular dish however there was absolutely nothing exciting about the dish.

Expected such a different experience, but sadly the food was very bland. Did not enjoy it at all, especially after hearing how lovely it is. Only thing I enjoyed was the hubbly and cocktails.

The venue has screens around, so it's a good place to watch sport. Had chicken schnitzel and it was pretty good. As a table we ordered two plates of chicken strips and the one plate had good fries, while the other had undercooked wedges and we found an egg shell in one of the strips. The restaurant did take the plate off the bill at least. Service was also very slow.

Went in this morning to get a breakfast at 820am... was completely ignored... and there were probably 12 other people in the whole place... went to ask if they were serving, was rudely informed if they have space they will accomodate... must be tough when u have more waiters than patrons to try get some service... would definitely not go back....

Always enjoy coming to Cafe Extrablatt, the food is really good, value for money cause they quite generous with their portions. My friend and I shared this chicken pita bread and it was so filling and delicious!! I have been here in the evenings an its really a nice vibe at night.

Cool spot for casual dining with friends and family. The service here is really good. Our waiter was always visible and explained the German dishes on the menu to us thoroughly. We got there at 6pm, right on time for their happy hour which takes place from 5pm-8pm. To eat I had the chicken schnitzel which I would not recommend to anyone but the portion was filling, my friends had the seafood platter which was quite delicious and filling too. We stayed for some shisha afterwards. When I asked to cancel my strawberry daiquiri order for a hot chocolate, I found out that the cocktail was already in process so the manager gave me a hot chocolate on the house, and I still got my strawberry daiquiri. <br/><br/>I'd suggest this place to anyone looking for a chilled hang out. <br/>

Cafe ExtraBlatt was very welcoming along with great service. Our waitress was very comforting and made us feel at home the minute we walked in. I ordered the Bacon Burger with the chicken patty and believe me when I say it was made to perfection. Definitely a place I'll recommend to friends and family for a easy social Saturday Lunch.

I've only ever had good experiences at Cafe Extrablatt. The food is tasty, portions are generous and service is good. I ordered from the "pick n dip" menu - calamari with chips, two pizza buns and garlic mayo. My friend ordered the vegetarian pizza. Both meals were served timeously. The atmosphere at Cafe Extrablatt is great - especially on a Saturday night when it's usually busy. I'd definitely go back and try the other "pick n dip" options.

This is my first visit to cafe Extrablatt, and it will not be my last. The decor is chic and warm, we sat on the balcony and enjoyed the lovely weather. I ordered the basic omelette and my hubby got baked potato with salad and both orders were just perfect. I loved the place and my next visit will be on Sunday morning to try the brunch buffet ... sounds yummy :)))))

Went here for a quick late breakfast. Took too long and food was ok when it arrived. Was in a hurry so had to gobble and go and take half as a take away.

Had the breakfast buffet and it was nothing amazing, average at best, but well priced for what you get and always nice if you are a big group of people to do buffet style breakfasts. The staff was just not always near when we needed them.

I only go here for the breakfast buffet and I love it. It's a great deal, on a nice location and the staff are legit. It's a nice spot to take a date on Weekend morning and then continue your stroll down fit people Avenue.

Tasty, well-priced food. Great drinks specials with a good selection of beer. It can get a bit loud as the restaurant is quite big, but the vibe is always great. An especially popular spot when events are being hosted at the stadium.

Went there for the breakfust Buffet with family. They had a Good variety of food, and very good coffee. Definite if you have a big breakfast appetite!

Average all the way, maybe the foods a bit better than expected and a good price. Nice location. Staff are never around. The bar can get seriously full. Typical café vibes.

This venue is a favourite of ours for their delicious, well-priced 3 ingredient omelette. We had lunch there with friends which satisfied almost all the guests. One had the extra large pizza which was impressively sized even for a body builder's appetite. The schnitzel, 'schweinhaxe' and spare ribs all looked tasty and were highly praised. The flammkuchen looked like a thin-based pizza to me, but received full marks from the eater. I had the 'deal meal' and on the friendly waitress's recommendation opted for chicken strips with 2 dips and cajun frites. The strips were disappointingly tasteless. Next time I'll have the omelette instead.

We were only here for cocktails so cannot comment on the food although they do come highly recommended. Prices were cheap and we were there during happy hour so only paid for half the drinks ☺️

Finally tried the jelepeno poppers, was HOT but lovely! The crumbed mushrooms was a bit on the bland side, lacked the basic seasoning. Had their cookies and cream milkshake which tasted okay but the vibe is always good! Service was slacking a bit and the hookah pipes were average but the company made up for all the flaws ☺️

A very good view from our seating on the elevated "couch".If you have a very busy day of you , start off with this filling breakfast/brunch buffet on Saturday's and Sunday's then do your touring. It will last you the whole day.

We tried the R99 breakfast buffet here on Saturday morning. It's a bright and sunny venue with service to match. Excellent breakfast, nice venue, good service. We'll definitely be back.

I've been wanting to visit them for a while now. Decided to get lunch here the other day and was pleasantly surprised by the larger than normal selection for vegetarians. The service was friendly. <br/><br/>I opted to try their veg burger with camambert cheese. The actual patty was good but there was too much lettuce and it kept falling apart. The fries were also all hollow inside - not sure if it was a bad batch of potatoes. My friend ordered the cheese burger with a beef patty and said it was nice but nothing more. <br/><br/>Overall, pleasant lunch and the veg burger was enjoyable. I am looking forward to going back to try their pizza and maybe butternut soup.

I've only ever been to Café Extrablatt in the evening when they have a Dj playing at the top section. Both times I've eaten here, I had a pizza. Although this is not the most gourmet pizza you'll eat, it is highly satisfying. Their prices are quite reasonable and they have quite a few meals to choose from. <br/><br/>It can get a bit loud when sitting at the top, but I do think that the music along with their Hubbly pipes is what attracts people. Service can be a bit slow sometimes.

I had the biggest, most delishious feta, peppadew and avo burger ever. Happy hour cocktails for R30 do not disappoint! Extrablatt is so awesome, there is no reasons why this place souldn't be packed on a friday evening.

Dissapointing....atrocious service and waitrons are not familiar with the menu, i.e. ingediants and how items are prepared. Cocktails not well balanced with flavour to amount of alcohol ratio and the food mediocre. And with nothing going well the decor became even more depressing.

I got the chance to have dinner at Extrablatt and it was surprisingly good :) I've only ever had breakfast there so i didnt know what to expect.<br/>There is happy hour between 5-8pm, but beware the fine print that says not on public holidays and event days...<br/>The menu is vast, and really reasonably priced. There's a German influence with a selection of the favourites, so we chose from those - i opted for chickem schnitzel and my bf had the beef roulade with sauerkraut and fired potatoes. Both were good!<br/>Our waitress was lovely and friendly.<br/>One note, the menus have seem better days, hopefully next time i visit they have beem replaced!

We ended up here because we wanted to watch a sports match and this is one of the only places with a tv. At first I wasn't too impressed - the menus were sticky and worn down. I warmed up at how lovely the staff were. They turned up the volume for us and were really patient when we kept changing tables to find the best view. We didn't feel pressurized to order at a rapid rate unlike a lot of restaurants in Cape Town during December who just want to get people in and out and in again, and at the same time, we felt looked after. The vibe here is cafe meets pub and the selection of drinks is good too. A perfect place to watch a game :)

My Brother and I came here for breakfast. Fast and great value. Very nice coffee and great service. A very nice setting to have breakfast. It has a #Hemmingway feel to it.

Very disappointed in their wraps. They are far too big and bland. Pity as it's a great place for drinks and location is amazing. Food definitely a let down.

Very very nice. My friend and I went on a Monday night and enjoyed the happy hour and their special:2 pizzas for R99. The chicken pizza was amazing! We alert back for their Wednesday buy one burger get one free special and once again were impressed. Both our waiters were super friendly, professional and made the experience all the more enjoyable. I'd highly recommend a visit here.

This is a decent food spot, they have a good selection on their menu and are incredibly well priced! <br/><br/>If you want to pop somewhere for a good meal this is always a good go-to place for simple laid back food and a chilled environment. <br/><br/>I have yet to try their weekend breakfast buffet but every time I've walked past, it looks seriously delicious! <br/><br/>The only real negative they have is I've found their service pretty slow and on one occasion we were ignored by our waiter for most of the time we were there!

I was there for a birthday event of a friend and the service was incredible. Despite the fact that the place was absolutely packed, our drink orders and food orders were taken very quickly and the food arrived quickly as well.<br/><br/>I've only had the pizzas there, but the ones I tasted were very good. They have a massive pizza that you can split with one or two other people, and you can customise the toppings quite a bit. The prices were very reasonable as well.<br/><br/>The atmosphere is warm, and the place looks very nice. The seating was quite comfortable. <br/><br/>I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a night out with friends with decent food and a chilled atmosphere.<br/><br/>

So I have only had the pizzas but if the rest of their food is as good then this is a great spot to visit. The crudo pizza is my favourite. A simple Serrano ham, parmesan cheese and rocket concoction on a thin base. A true classic. I am eager to try their breakfast buffet as well.

We've been here a couple of times. The service is always amazing. The food, however, is quite average. It isn't too pricey, so I guess you get what you pay for.

Came here for breakfast this morning and got really disappointed. The restaurant was busy as it was the gun run. Obviously the staff was not prepared fully staffed or ready for a busy day. We waited 20 minutes for our drink orders to be taken and had to wait a total of 50 minutes for our food order to be taken. We sat upstairs it was quite crowded but not packed. There was only one waitress for the whole upstairs section which was to big for one person to handle. After having to get up several times to check where our food is we finally got it 1 hour after we placed the order. Well at least 5 out of the six dishes ordered arrived. I had to get the waitress attention to ask if mine is still coming? She returned after 5 minutes saying she told the chef she is short of a dish. Unfortunately I could not wait as it has been more than 2 hours and I had to get to work. On my way down I passed the waitress and what looked like the manager, he mentioned that unfortunately the restaurant is full. Well Mr. Please don't use a full restaurant ad an excuse please prepare yourself better in the future. In this new age we have a thing called Google that will give you a clear heads up with events in your area so you can plan your day and make sure your restaurant has got sufficient staff. I use it for 9 restaurants in South Africa believe me it works.<br/>For patrons please avoid this place on busy event days in green point. There is other places that is more organised and won't waste you're time.<br/>Coffee was good though <br/>

So on a hot summers day - this is where myself and a friend ended up having some cocktails and munchies. I was so hungry and couldn't help myself to ordering my meal fast enough. Not long and it came - yes, it was delicious!!! Had the pick n dips. Value... yes, quality... yes, quantity...definitely yes. It was my first time here and I thoroughly enjoyed my cocktails and munchies!!! Venue was nice and clean, would definitely want to go back with a group of friends. Well done team!!!

Great place! Came here for the buffet breakfast, which did not disappoint, and is very reasonably priced. Omelettes made as you like, with all the trimmings. Service (Catherine and Rebecca) was great. Friendly and attentive staff, great vibe. Definitely coming back!

I've been angling for a Zomato meet up for a little while now and Cafe Extrablatt was a great place to do this. Situated on Greenpoint main road, it offers a lovely hangout and chill spot to enjoy a glorious day in Cape Town. <br/><br/>On the food side, they have an all you can eat breakfast buffet with an unlimited amount of cheese and croissants - basically the only thing that you should be eating for breakfast, so no complaints there. Their freshly squeezed orange juice is delish and definitely worth a recommendation. With such an extensive menu I had a hard time choosing what to order. After reading some reviews I knew I had to have a freshly squeezed orange juice at least. It's not a large glass for 25 bucks but was good. I finally settled for the biltong and brie burger with cajun chips. The roll was massive, basting very nice and overall satisfying. Curious to visit for a buffet brunch.

My friend and I went through a stage of visiting Café Extrablatt everytime we planned our weekly catch up sessions. It’s a good half way meeting point for us, they have ample parking over the road and there is always a spot on the balcony for us to drink wine, grab a snack and catch up on all the things girly. I have no idea why we’ve never taken any pics but we’ve tried out a decent amount of their food and wine over the years. Wine – they serve asara which gets a big thumbs up from me (memories). Food – their menu is extensive with everything from pizzas to salads, burgers, steaks, snacks etc. The waiters are a hoot (well ours always are) - full of jokes and always willing to listen to our complicated sharing orders. Prices are good – they have a big pizza (40cm with 4 toppings) for 120 bucks – which is pretty much a steal.<br/><br/>I feel as if we need to plan our next catch up here – what do you think? I didn't know this, but Cafe Extrablatt is actually part of a massive global brand and the European influence is strong with this one. We went there for the breakfast buffet, which I highly recommend if your appetite has trouble sticking to a budget. I had an omelette which they make right in front of you - <br/>and it was delicious! The freshly pressed orange juice is an absolute must as is a spoonful of Nutella on your toast!

To be honest I never knew that this place was a world-renowned franchise. A big space perfect for any function with an owner who puts so much effort into every aspect of the establishment. I had a yummy omelette from the breakfast buffet which was made right in front of me. The freshly squeezed orange juice is also superb.

I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast here, mainly because it's a buffet and you have the luxury of eating a whole plate of cheese if you want to without getting judgey eyes. I restrained myself on the cheese and threw a croissant, some cold meats and the delicious mini pork sausages into the mix. Now I'm no croissant expert, but this one was perfectly buttery, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Just the way I like it. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed, friendly and the orange juice was the best I've ever had - but I did find the buffet area lacking a bit on the pastry side of things, and I missed the presence of salmon (which I do abuse at a buffet, I'll admit). Overall, a rather good brekkie spot!

I wasn't particularly blown away by this restaurant. Their breakfast buffet was something I could have whipped up on my own, but if you don't feel like cooking and want something that still feels like home then this is just the place for you. <br/><br/>Their orange juice is freshly squeezed and delicious and partners well with their range of omelettes, bread, pastries, cheeses and assorted cold meats. It's a German restaurant and the European influence is highly evident. <br/><br/>

Cafe Extrablatt is nothing too fancy. Food is pretty good, with a European influence.. Namely Germany.It is one of those restaurants that has never really had a chance to shine. Its in an area that is perfect for the stadium.  But then, I have never used a restaurant because of its proximity to the sports events. So what in essence it does, is it may once or twice a year see a few extra people frequenting it because of the sports.  But on the whole I have often seen the place rather empty. The whole block has been cursed for years. With a selection of folks trying it over the years but never getting it to take off. (Except for El Burro, which I think is rather overrated)<br/><br/>Schnitzel is good. Breakfasts are good. Portions are large. Go hungry to make the most of the brekkie, as it works out quite expensive if you just have a small portion from the buffet.

Every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday, Extrablatt puts up a marvelous breakfast buffet spread. Oh and the orange juice - you must taste the orange juice. We had the pleasure or meeting the owner: a delightfully vibrant man with a great love for his restaurant and customers. The omelettes are made freshly in front of your eyes which makes for a fun show. Whatever the occasion, Extrablatt is guaranteed to be fantastic value for money with a variety of options for individuals of all ages.

This venue is great for a quick bite and drink! They had good specials and the most amazing LARGE pizza. We enjoyed a buffet breakfast as well, great variety.

A great spot for my first Zomato meet up! Cafe Extrablatt is definitely worth a breakfast visit. With the option of an a la carte menu or the buffet. The buffet was delicious with a range to choose from. Healthier fruit, yoghurt, muesli and toast options to a cooked breakfast of omlette, bacon, sausages. They had croissants on offer too, as well as the more European style of cheeses and cold meats. The freshly squeezed orange juice is fantastic too.

I enjoyed Cafe Extrablatt. We went for the buffet option: omelettes, croissants, breads, cheeses, meats, muesli and yogurt is what you can expect if you chose the buffet. I went for the omelette, what's great is that the chef lets you pick your toppings at the buffet and makes it right there and then in front of you! The freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious!

So sad that I only took photo of my delicious cuppachino but clearly I was so amazed by my food that I didn't have a chance to take any photos. I will highly advise you to go for their breakfast buffet.

Went to extrablatt one Saturday morning for the buffet breakfast. The food was awesome and so fresh will recommend this for all breakfast lovers.

The food is basic, but tasty and good value for money. The staff have always been attentive and extremely friendly! Nice for a quick dinner!

We stopped in for a quick coffee and snack on our way to the Waterfront and were pleasantly surprised by this gem. We got both got an Americano and shared the crumbed mushrooms pick 'n dip. Both were huge and our bill came to less than R100. It was also delicious. The service was great as well. We will be back to try more!<br/><br/>EDIT:<br/><br/>We went for the breakfast buffet...and we are obsessed! At just R95.90 per person, this is an amazing deal. They have serving trays filled with cheeses, cold cuts, yoghurt, jams, bacon, sausage, baked beans, and more! Plus, they have an station where you can order a custom made omelette. <br/><br/>We arrived early (around 9)and the service was outstanding. We took our time and stayed for about an hour and a half. It got much more crowded later on, causing the service to suffer a bit, but overall we can't complain. Our only real complain was the tiny size of the water glasses...but we asked for bigger ones and the problem was solved!<br/><br/>We will certainly be back to stuff our faces another day!

I love this place! My mom and I stumbled upon it when walking through green point! The staff are always happy and welcoming! Delish bubbly' and great food and have a great selection of cocktails! Their happy hours are the best! Be sure to go! 👌🏼

Had a nice night with my girlfriend here, 3rd time we have been here now :) love the vibe and the atmosphere! Had very yummy pizza-snailbuns and drinks, with a dessert of apple strudel and gluhwein and white chocolate hot chocolate. Loved it! Tanya was an awesome waiter and very helpful and friendly! Shame that such a nice place is this quiet! It deserves a bit more attention!

The ideal place for a nice breakfast over the weekend. Good food and service. Love the way the breakfast buffet turns into a lunch buffet without extra charge. Worth a couple of more visits.

Great casual setting with  good food and mediocre service. Situated close to Cape Town Stadium it makes the perfect meet up point before a show or sporting match at the stadium. Affordable prices and food was good. Service was a bit slow but love the fact that on a warm summers day they have mist sprayers in the doorway to cool you down. We ordered the big pizza which is a 40cm pizza with any 4 toppings it fed 2 and with some left over.Main problem when visiting will be parking

A little empty and quite but the food was scrumptious, portions were satisfying and the cocktails were delicious. Good service and nice chilled vibe.

What a spectacular atmosphere, both sophisticated yet relaxed. I was put at ease by the warmth and the service, and really enjoyed the hearty butternut soup on a cold evening.

While I am not impressed by the venue and the decor, I like it for its location. It's not far from home so very convenient to stop by after a walk and have a cup of tea and breakfast. They serve a good English-style breakfast and the staff is friendly and efficient. Great place if you're with a bunch of friends looking for a meal in a casual atmosphere.

So its dinner for one while I wait for the family who are at the 1Direction concert.<br/><br/>Had a look at the menu before I sat down which looked good but unfortunately they only had the condensed "concert night" menu on offer.<br/><br/>I order the pom frits (fries) to start with as I would be here a while. The fries were good and the 2 dips excellent.<br/><br/>Service is a bit slow though. Been waiting for about 20 min for waitress to return so I can order a main meal. I eventually ordered the Alfredo Fettuccine and I must say it was really really good.

Parking was slightly tricky as Green Point gets busy on a weekend evening. The decor is modern, comfortable and not too pub-like. A nice spot to chill with friends. Enjoyed the DJ upstairs. The pizza snailbuns were wonderful! Think cinnabons but instead with pizza. So filling and only R35. I would go back for that alone. The okka pipe/ hubbly bubbly was also good.
