Oh my gosh! Kyoto is most definitely worth visiting!! A true experience! Service is world class.....and the recommendations on point. Food is fresh and delicious....... and the Midori cocktail is a must!!! Thank you for making us feel so special! We will be back
If you’re looking for a go-to sushi restaurant or just an escape from whatever it is that ails you, try Kyoto Gardens Sushi. The service is top notch, the waitrons a real pleasure to interact with, the food simple, yet spectacular, and the ambiance romantic with a real air of Eastern enchantment.
The quality of the sushi here a phenomenal. However, the portions are quite small for the price. I really enjoyed my small chef’s selection, but I needed another whole platter to share in order to be satisfied. The ambience is lovely though and service friendly.
Awesome food experience at this Japanese restaurant. Started with the Alaskan crab salad, Wagu beef slices, followed with theChef’s sushi platter and I had the Kings Trio with Salmon, scallop and crab while my wife had the Fat Udon noodles with duck. Outstanding meal.
I love this place. Don’t come here nearly enough though as it would simply burn large holes in my pocket. But it’s so worth it!
Stopped by without a reservation and was lucky to score a seat at the bar. Ordered the jewels of the ocean starter comprised of a fresh scallop, oyster and abalone. Super refreshing! Followed by the chef’s creation sushi platter. Sushi is a must here. It’s super authentic! Most South Africans will find it bland as most sushi places tend to fry and douse a ludicrous amount of sauce and toppings on their sushi. Here it’s the art of sushi, simplicity and freshness at its best. Making it one of my top 3 sushi spots in Cape Town.
Would highly recommend this Japanese gem!
We had an incredible evening at Kyoto Garden Sushi. The restaurants atmosphere is so serene that it feels as if you are completely isolated from the hustle and bustle of town. This along with the excellent service makes it a special place to dine.
We came in for the Winter Special and for starters we had the Vegetable Tempura which is a must have. There is nothing quite like it. I’m not a massive vegetable fan, but the batter was light and crispy!
For mains we had the Udon Noodles with Duck. It is delicious. My favourite part of the meal is the broth. It is extremely impressive how they manage to maintain the individual flavours of all the ingredients whilst being immersed in the perfectly flavoured broth.
The Black Sesame Seed Ice Cream was our choice for dessert. My girlfriend told the waiter that it was the best ice cream she had ever had and 5 minutes later the owner brought out another 3 flavours for us to try which were: Green tea, Miso and Ginger. They were all so unique in their own way.
All in all, we were surprised by how good the experience was and without a doubt it was the best winter special we’ve had in Cape Town this year. R220 for 3 courses and a glass of wine is great value. We can’t wait to go back.
Authentic Japanese- loved the fact that it had no take-away option👍🏻
Had a sort of tranquil Oriental feel to it
Service was excellent
We had salmon and prawn hand rolls - amazing not the normal commercial stuff we are accustomed to
Then tried the prawn and duck noodles
Very generous portions
If you want a real Japanese meal- go here
One of my pet peeves is a place marketing itself as something it isn't. I came here expecting more than what I got - due to excellent marketing. It seems as if this restaurant take shortcuts when it comes to certain meals or puts in effort according to how much customers pay. I feel that it has amazing potential especially given its location but something has to change.
The vibe and the decor is wonderful, I loved that the owner regularly checked up on us and gave us complimentary top-ups.
I think people should check it out for themselves though.
Superb authentic Japanese place . Intimate setting. Clean and quaint. Loved it here
We ordered based on the host recommendation. Citrus cevichi which had an amazing taste combination. We also ordered salmon sashimi as well as the kyoto garden rolls and the edamame. We added the prawn tempura also.
Good option for fine dining and if you are sushi connoisseur.
Loved my experience at Kyoto. We had the winter special that was totally worth it. The steamed fish with special rice was perfectly cooked and so comforting. The sesame seed ice cream was unique and tasty. But the star was the salmon sashimi - fresh, delicate and melted in my mouth... by far the best I've ever had! Keen to try some of their other dishes, it's pricey though, so will have to wait till I can go again.
Beautiful , crisp , clean and tasty as hell!! Travelled for 4 years and one of my top Japanese teats to this day .. This is a real treat you feel this instant love as you walk in from the beautiful lighting and minimal look!! Great staff and owner is an epic bonus 👌🏻👌🏻 a must if you looking for AUTHENTICITY!!! Not some other mix and match you find around here 😋
One of the greatest experiences I have ever had!!!
First compliments to the most superb quality of seafood! Such a small difference, but that is all you need! The scallops were perfectly seasoned, lightly cooked. The sushi just utterly incredible and such delicate fresh cuts!
I will also recommend their toasted tofu and ginger ice-cream dessert! The tofu tastes like toasted pannacotta or creme brulee, and just melts as it hits your palate!
Plus it was my birthday and my amazing brother organised a little candle on the plate ❤️
