Review Woodies - Cape Town Central

Sue Lindsay
Lovely views, great shops and restaurants, live entertainment, clean and well maintained, what's not to like? As tourists we found it perfectly safe to walk to during the day, using main routes, but at dusk, would not visit without shuttle bus or other transport.

A day out retail therapy and chilling. Eating drinking and enjoying the surrounds. The yacht race was docking here and we were able to wish a couple of crews good luck on their next leg of their voyage.

Super cool place!!! Very alive with amazing views, huge mall , nice cafés and restaurants , very interesting aquarium, street show , harbour & canal cruises, museum -like souvenir shop, food and craft markets 😎🆒

Beautiful! Simply beautiful! Wonderful food, great shops, picturesque, entertainment, etc. I wish I had more time there. Plan to spend a good part of your day there. A1

Always a bliss visiting V n A Waterfront. It can be crowded during festive season, but ofcourse it's festive vibes right? Where else can one be? Great restaurants, all shops are available here, I mean all. Great place to be when you are on holiday, or when you want to relax and catch some fresh air. Nice view by the harbour. You can catch a boat, a helicopter an uber or a red bus. You will find everything you need here!
Bonita Clifton
Beautiful mall with all the shops and restaurants you could want. The waterfront is gorgeous! We took a stroll on the boardwalk at the water...and there was a loose board which I didn't see. I fell & broke my hip!!! I can testify that Security, EMT at the mall were fabulous and treated me with the best care.

This is possibly the heart of Capetown according to me. Access to shopping store, great restaurants and great starting and end point if you are looking to do the red/blue bus as well as the cruise. You gotta have the a lot of 'Benjamin' to enjoy what the mother city has to offer
Jake Miller
Worth a visit, loads of shops, cafes and bars in the most beautiful setting. It’s very busy and there is lots of live dancing, singing and street art. Great for people watching and window shopping
Percy Thaver
Amazing location. Clean, neat & well laid out. Plenty of places to eat, plenty of activities along the Harbour side with amazing views. Informal pop up markets with a variety of goods & foods cater for all tastes. V&A is safe with plenty of parking. Loved it!
Leighton Carter
Very upmarket shopping venue. The usual suspect stores are all here plus the high end luxury stores which are not so easy to find. Reasonable selection of restaurants and the more market like stalls are also present outside. Loads of boat and helicopter tour stands along the actual dockside. Must visit venue when coming to Cape Town. Fantastic views of table mountain in the background.

Could easily stop your heart but delicious...<br/><br/>Service is a little slow, but it's worth the wait...<br/><br/>Highly recommend, but just not too often...<br/>

Loved their burgers, but alas - Boooo - THEY CLOSED. They are no more, gone to meet their makers, kaput, an ex-burger place. One day there, the next, not there. Like most of us I guess.<br/> <br/>***UPDATE*** Now called 'Tom &'  (I believe it's owned by Jerry's Burger Bar?) and the burgers are pretty similarly good as to when it was Woodies. So it's still MY burger destination at the V&A.
Syed Yasir Waseem
One of the best burgers. I can easily compare woodies with Shake Shack, Five guys or any other international chain.<br/><br/>Good job guys. Keep it up
Nicholle Kruger
Woodies is the best and supercedes all takeaway, fast food burger chains. You place your order at the counter and get given a number, and when your food is ready you will be called. The burger itself is fantatsic, it is a 100g patty with tomato, lettuce, onion, gherkin, cheese and mustard toppings. Personally I found the mustard a bit overpowering, but this did not detract from the overall deliciousness of the burger! You are have the option to order a side of fries, which is great value for money. The burger itself is huge, so by the time you get half way through your fries you're already full! Just a warning: the burger is quite messy so be prepared to get your hands dirty as they do not offer cutlery! Great experience here, definitely worth it!

Best Halal burger joint I've been to in Cape Town. Ton of chips added as well. The line moves swiftly as well and food doesn't take too long to be ready.
Junaid Rahim
Good burgers Deliciously filled with all things good. Highly customizable meals gives you varieties of options. SODA is unavailble purchase.
Reza Hamdulay
Best damn burgers indeed! Madly in love with the Chilli Burger. I cannot explain how much I spread the Woodies Gospel amongst my friends! Excellent halal option for amazing burgers with GF options as well.
Thomas Moller
The burgers here are delicious, and very reasonably priced! Also, the chips are a bit pricey, but 1 portion is legitimately enough for two people, and they're fresh, and hand cut (with the skins on). Anyone who likes burgers should try them from here.
Intense_purple
Place your order via WhatsApp go to collect and no order on record even though I got a response, no apology just blank stares from owner. Will never go back.

Best burgers for the best price! Love the laid back vibe and the people who work there are so kind. I wanted to order a burger and chips and at the time I placed my order they had informed me that there was no chips. I got my burgers and went to sit down and not long after that the manager (I take it) brought a plate of chips to our table for free and appologized! Not only that...everyone got free koeksisters as well! 😁😁<br/><br/>

Still the #BEST flame grilled burger🤤<br/>Packed with flavor. <br/>Fresh I ingredient. <br/>Best value for money!!<br/>The wait is all worth it especially when you chillin with family and friends catching up. <br/><br/>Food is always warm and the potatoes are always suffice [Being a potato lover - Lol]

#Woodiesbelvedereroad - This was 1 of the best burger I tasted. For the pass 2 weeks it seems as the QUALITY of the food has gone down. The Roll was hard crust, can't say it's toasted, seem like 3 days ago's roll's, the mushroom sauce was not sauce but a liquid with no taste , where was the cheese ??????, did it evaporate ???  And was that salad on there ?? Seems like celery sticks cut up to make lettuce, seriously. Not saying this is a bad thing, just check next time. I will be visiting in the week again and be taking pics and posting an update on this.<br/><br/>izzy is on the list for next best  ....... <br/><br/>Don't let us down woodies :))
Akbarmatani1972
Best burger I ever had. Went twice in 4 day visit of CPT. next to is Sundoo try lamb vandaloo in bunny chow and chop chop steak bar all 3 r awesome.

Woodies is one of my favorite burger joints in Cape Town. A wide variety of affordable toppings. The restaurant caters for everyone.<br/><br/>Fantastic service and great tasting food!
Laetitia Olivier
This is excelleny value for money. The patties freshly made while you wait. Very tasty potato chips too. Excellent service with friendly staff. We will surely go back and back and back ...
Hasan Wadvalla
Delicious burgers and freshly fried chips Simply the best Service was excellent Definitely worth a visit Last order at 8:45pm Barely made it but worth the rush Fresh succulent burger Fresh bun<br/><br/>Ate there a second time and still the best burger I’ve had Really delicious and excellent service
Kamiel Singh
The biggest and beautiful burger. Double chicken burger with chilli and cheese and chips. Worth every penny. The taste was AWESOME..........
Yaorong Jin
Make sure you order the big burgers, they are to die for. Been here a few times and noticed that if you get the triple patty or above. The cheese is always hot and melts with a delicious burger. The other burgers are okay and sometimes cold unless it’s busy and made on the spot. Nevertheless I really enjoyed it here, can be hot upstairs though especially with no air con
Analiza De Sao Martinho
Cheap, yummy burger! Soooo many options and sooooooo tasty! They don’t spend money on asthetics but that’s ok. It’s all in the burger!! Prob my top 1 burger in Cape Town/universe
Jonathan Abrams
Life changing burger. Nothing more to say other than next time I’m getting the triple cheese with chips. The craft beer at the V&A market makes a great companion for the burger too.
Leshay Williams
Went to the Woodies in Belvedere Road, my very first time having woodies and what a let down, burger was below average, bun was even worse. Definitely not the best damn burger.
Abdullahjaco1022
Great Value for Money R49 for a Burger and chip combo. I choose the Mushroom and green pepper sauce for an extra R8.00 . well worth the wait.
Aletha Jeftha
Awesome burgers! Perfectly seasoned fries! And at an absolute steal of a price. <br/><br/>They've perfected Steers fries. Did the DIY burgers before Roccomamas was even on the scene. If you do however prefer your patty on the rare or medium side, you might not like the burger as much. <br/><br/>There's a reason why Woodies has become a Cape Town institution (and why there is always a queue). Would highly recommend trying them out.
BK
The first time my friend and i visited Woodies we were overwhelmed about the amount of chips but we loved it :D especially the burger..it was filling.<br/>Repeat visits are defiantly in order, we come every month just to have their burgers.<br/>their customer service is the bomb, they bring our food to us, did i mention that their burgers are delicious? Defiantly a place to go with friends and families.
Rameez Khan
Best burger I've had in SA. Ordered a double beef burger. Pattie was juicy and very tasty. Only thing to fault is the chips which is average. But the burger definitely makes up for it.

I consider burgers to be like boxers, you get different divisions depending on the weight of the burger. With all the hype leading up to the Mcgregor / Mayweather 'Money Fight' and the entertaining recent classic Joshua / Klitchko fight, I decicided to pull a Don King and have a Izzy Burger vs Woodies Burger showdown. Friday night I stepped into the ring at Belvedere Road and tried the Hot Single Woodies Burger:<br/><br/>The place wasn't as full as I expected, but what I like about the venue is its practicality. No clutter, a simple decor that can unsuprisingly be described as 'woody'.<br/><br/>The service we received was great, so much better than the depressing reminders of minimum wage you get at Steers and Macdonalds. These guys are cool, they remind me of an Entourage meets Hangover's 'wolfpack' vibe. We shared a nice discussion on the origins of Bashews which took me back to my primary school days. One of the owners friends was just 'lamming it out' (or laminating) behind the counter and also filled us in on how the Woodies empire started. Anyway, over to the food...<br/><br/>I like the 'hot or not' option because the hot is actually hot. I'm always complaining about food specified as hot lacking a bit of bite but the hot woodies burger gets it right. The flavour of the patty sits quite snug in the bun and has a well balanced danya to smokiness to BBQ ratio.<br/><br/>The chips are well sized, golden brown and quite generously served in a paper cup. I'd clasify them as a bit dry though, but still better than french fries.<br/><br/>What I like about Woodies is that they don't seem to try and cut any corners in both their ingredients and the staff that prepare the meals. The food itself is well balanced as there is no flavour that specifically stands out unnecessarily.<br/><br/>They also give you the option of doubling and even tripling the patty. At R50 for a single burger with chips, if you had lunch this will suffice for supper.<br/><br/>Good people, good burger, above average chips, well balanced, well done. If the Butchers Wife is Klitchko then Woodies is definitely Anthony Joshua.<br/><br/>Izzy Burger? From what I hear, we might be looking at a Tyson Fury...

!!A V&A WATERFRONT MUST HAVE!!<br/><br/>#WELL PRICED<br/>#FAST SERVICE<br/>#AMAZING TASTE<br/><br/>The reviews don't lie!😄😍 Cape Town being a place with a countless number of Burger Bars, Woodies is definately right up there with the best!!🙌<br/><br/>Unlike many burger joints, Woodies is also very well prices!! Service is generally quick and the food is amazing! Always nice to see there is an option of choosing how you'd like your patty done (I prefer mine Medium to maximise the juiciness of the patty!) The serving of chips that come along with it is very generous, You definitely won't be able to finish it alone😅. <br/><br/>The vibe is good for a quick grab with friends, however it can understandably be loud considering it is a food market. But then again that adds to the vibe that Woodies offers with its somewhat Food Truck themed service and ambience which I quite enjoyed!😏<br/><br/>Overall an amazing experience and will definately be stopping by if I find myself at the V&A!!👌👏
Kyla De Bruyn
A part of our top 5 best burgers in Cape Town. So good, so filling and starts becoming a frequent craving. A must if you're in waterfront! They need more recognition.
Imaan Salie
The food market is just the perfect place to be but what tops it all off are the burgers sold at this place, Woodies. No matter what burger you decide to order it will never fail to disappoint. Definitely a must try for any burger lover.
Jessica Lew-Muñoz
Absolutely enjoyed their burger! I had the single chicken burger with original/BBQ basting and avo and it was delicious! The portions are big and satisfying. Definitely recommend going there if you are craving a burger.
Promise_foodie
Had the best burger at the Food market!!<br/>Had a double burger at it was so good I forgot to even take pictures of it. Also verrry generous with the chips which is great!<br/><br/>Definitely recommending the burgers to anyone in the area.
Naeem Bux
This is hands down one of the best burgers i have eaten in quite a while, I'd recommend the colossus. <br/>4 handmade patties, thick melted cheese, and optional chilli sauce. Definitely amazing. Price is decent for what you get and chips are served very generously
Arshad Karim
This place has got to be serving the best burger in SA. Consistency in quality from the bun through to the meaty patty is what makes this establishment stand out. Another point to note is that they are aware of their quality burgers and strive to uphold this instead of starting to venture out and try new things. <br/>Both the chicken and beef burgers are top class. I think they can be a bit more inventive with the fries though. This place is however a must try each time you're in the mother city.
Bronwin Andrea Du Preez
I've been visiting the food market at the Waterfront more often lately for breakfast and lunch. Each time trying a new place but Woodies is a burger joint I'll definitely visit again and again. There is not a time that I go to the stall and there is not a queue. The burgers are really filling and I swear the potion size of fries will keep you filled up for 2 days probably. If you not sure what burger to try, here's a help. The avo and bacon burger, it's to die for. Pricing is not ridiculous at all.
Fay Daw
One of the best burgers I have come across. Reasonably priced, Good customer service, and reaaalllly tasty burgers. The patty is quite juicy. The quality of the ingredients really does shine through.
En.ig.mat.ic
Been hearing about Woodies from all the 'Jo'burgers' ;)<br/>Came to Capetown for a quick trip but i just had to try it before i left. We managed to make it there 2minutes before they closed! What a rush to get there but I'm so glad i did! It was definitely worth it! Love the the place, the vibe n the burgers (obviously)!
Monica Fernandes
Woodies- "Best Damn Burgers" definitely lived up to their name. The beef patty is so juicy and full of flavour. You can also tell it's freshly made which is great. I got the single bbq patty and added some avo which they really gave me a good amount of (unlike other places where they can be stingy with their toppings). I also had a taste of the creamy mushroom and green pepper sauce which i will be getting next time as it was really yum. If you choose to add chips just know they give you loads! I struggled to get through all of mine.<br/>Over all I can say, if you're looking for a tasty and filling meal which is good value for money then you should definitely give Woodies a try!
Irfaan
The only place in the food market with a constant queue, so I thought it had to be good. Gave it a try and boy was it worth the wait. Don't be fooled by it's unassuming setup. This place churns out burgers better than the franchise's built on half a street block and all from a small setup in the food market of the V&A Waterfront. The menu is simple yet has enough for even the the pickiest of burger foodies. Settled on a double with fries. After a 15min wait I received my brown bag. Burger and skin on fries. The best fries I've had in ages. The burger...absolutley perfect. Juicy delicious patty with garnish and sauce. Back in Jhb with envy to the CT folks who get to enjoy this whenever they want. If you're in the area and are feeling for a burger, there is no better.

Service tends to be a bit slow during peak hours and periods. But the burger never disappoints. There is ample seating areas around the food market and the atmosphere is always pleasant.
Saadia Mall
Best. Damn. Burgers. 👌<br/><br/>I'd never say no to a Woodies burger. Ever. It's just that good and what's even better is that they consistent with their quality and service.<br/><br/>I always opt for a chilli or avo. The original basting is a bit too bland for me so the chilli is great !<br/><br/>Honestly, I'm not a fan of their new menu. I liked that it wasn't an option to have a single burger. It's abit confusing in my opinion. A lot of my friends have agreed with me on this!<br/><br/>Their chips are one of the best you'd find around. Long crispy hand cut chips with the peel on and there's an abundance in the portion size.<br/><br/>I'll always take a beef patty over a chicken. Simply because I know the beef is good stuff. I've watched them hand press it before and safe to say that it's just pure beef, no unwanted extras. I also find that the beef enhances the chilli flavour.<br/><br/>The bun itself is always fresh. & I love how the cheese oozes from the burger.<br/><br/>Preparation takes about 15 minutes. Which in my opinion isn't that long because in that time you can get your drinks and find a seat.<br/><br/>Go on, try it for yourself. 😊

Wow! What a great place! One of the best takeout burger joints in town and the portion sizes are quite generous. The patties are cooked spot on and the fillings are great - I like the mustard sauce especially but there is also a chili option and plenty of top-ups to suit your fancy. The chips aren't as good as the burgers though and take forever to fry. The queue is quite long but generally moves steadily. The vibe is amazing - cool, casual, bustling atmosphere at the food market. There's also a (much smaller and quieter) branch in Belvedere road to get your burger fix in the southern suburbs.
CTFoodie
Woodies' beef burgers lived up to its reputation as the 'best damn burgers'. Their hand made patties are unlike any other and their chips are also quite special...<br/>It can get a bit chaotic over weekends when there are long queues, but friendly service, the atmosphere at the V&A Waterfront and of course the burgers make it all worthwhile.<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>
Rachael Laura Wahl
They don't lie when they say the have the best damn burgers. Wow. They burgers are a real deal for money as well. Fresh ingredients and so juicy and a generous amount of potato chips.
Liyabona Linnah Nori Mtengwane
Amazing food and friendly stuff...The taste is quite amazing and very unique. The area is very cosy and welcoming. Great place for friends and family.
Mosa Mashati
Oh wow , this place is easily at the top of my list in terms of burger joints, easily!<br/>Ive been looking forward to trying it out as Ive heard nothing but great things about woodies but every time I was at the market , I'd be swayed towards another direction. <br/><br/>They are very affordable for the portions they offer, their burgers are so flavorful, it's also like R5 to add avo if I'm not mistaken, how perfect !?<br/> . It'll be worth it a million times more!<br/>If you love good woodsmoked patties and are overall a burger lover, waste no more time!
Azrah Kadwa
Woodies has been suggested to me by countless of people in a kitchen group that I'm in and by word of mouth through friends. I visited Woodies this evening and was 15 minutes late as the kitchen had already been closed. The Manager or Owner (A Friendly Malay Man) who was seated at the front ordering station was so kind that he gave us a Woodies beef burger on the house 🏡 as he noticed how badly we were salivating. I came to CPT on a culinary tour and could not believe how fortunate I was to get free food. The burger was juicy and packed with great flavors. A HUGE thank you to the staff that gave me the burger. You truly made my visit worthwhile! ❤
Nabeelah Valley
Woodies is personally my go to burger! I've never had a bad experience here before. It's affordable and tasty and always a safe option when you're at the Waterfront. I think the only problem is that usually over the weekend it gets really busy and the area is a bit small.
Ilhaam Khan
Nothing beats a Woodies burger, been there several times and they never disappoint. Chilie and avo burger is my go to. <br/><br/>Can't wait to go back for another woodies experience!
Leila Rossouw
The burgers are really good. I definitely enjoy the Saffa burger the most (some odd reason). My only issue is how long you have to wait everytime. I get that it takes time to make amazing burgers right then and there but it's crap when you really craving a woodies burger but you know you don't have the time to wait for it so you decide against it. Hopefully it will speed up in the future.
Anisha Pillay
Finally tried woodies out yesterday. Was always discouraged by the long lines and apparent long wait for food but this was not the case lastnight.<br/><br/>The burgers are reasonably priced considering all the toppings that come standard. Wasn't too hungry so I shared with my boyfriend, who ordered the hot option with additional mushrooms. The burger definitely exceeded my expectations. Was really tasty and I loved the fries too. Looking forward to ordering my own burger when I'm back at the waterfront.
Iman Allie
Burgers at Woodies are so delicious! Definitely the best burger I've had and it only took about 15minutes for them to bring us 7 burgers. <br/><br/>Very impressed
Laylah Fay
For the first time in a VERY long time, I waited less than 10 minutes to get my burger 😂 its was super yum and those fries 🍟 crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside 👌🏻🙌🏻🍔🍔
Nicci Short
Woodies is just simply amazing. The burger patties are juicy and well cooked, the buns are fresh and the basting elevates the burger to another level. They are very generous with their chips portions and one portion is enough for two people. Ask for the TTC burger (sorry veggies) for a really special treat that is not on their printed menu. It's a popular spot, so prepare for a long line that is worth the wait.
Claire Victoria Henderson
My absolute number one spot for burgers in the Mother City. I have never tasted a burger in Cape Town that could possibly come close Woddies' burgers to date. Meat is great quality and the toppings and buns are always super fresh. I used to have a burger a week when I worked at the Waterfront and will still choose to make the journey if I am in the mood for a burger than have one anywhere else.<br/><br/>Also, I love how they print your name on the slip! Such amazing personal service.
Darla Dates
I was really excited to grab an impromptu work lunch and cheat meal at Woodies yesterday, especially after hearing from a few people how phenomenal their burgers are. Maybe this led me to have my expectations far too high because I can only say that although not terrible, neither was the burger memorable.<br/><br/>Service was friendly and efficient, in that I can truly say to Woodies keep it up.<br/><br/>Now to the burger 🍔...I had the double beef with the chili inspired option and added the mushroom and pepper sauce. The burger was soaking wet so my bun was just a pulpy mess, the burger although well cooked was insipid (I'm a firm believer that burger patties should have a good ratio of fat because it adds to the flavour and natural moistness that a burger should have). The additional mushroom and pepper sauce ...well I could see the mushrooms, but it tasted of absolutely nothing.<br/><br/>Would it be my first choice for burger cravings...<br/>No....but if I happen to be in the area again perhaps I'd give them a second chance.
Carla Smith
All I can say is WOW! <br/><br/>Definitely value for money. The burgers are tasty and well prepared especially given that they're constantly busy. <br/><br/>The fries I would say are lacking because they're oily and I would appreciate them even more if they delivered cos then I could order from work. <br/><br/>They could also do with their own restaurant space as sometimes there isn't enough space to sit down and eat. <br/><br/>All in all, the seating and fries can be forgiven because the burger is so good.
Beni Kabuluku
I've been here before, but I was in a hurry that day and didn't enjoy it because it ended up getting cold. Good burgers. Good mix of flavors, a little too much fries but whatever.
Ceiran Megan Vd Westhuizen
Finally had the chance to try this place out and definitely one of my new favourite burger places! Wow, so affordable, delicious and value for money. The burgers are stuffed with fillings that are fresh and tasty. Definitely a great find.
Zaahidah Adams
After a long time I went back here as the burger cravings has spoken And I was highly disappointed. The Burger was drenched in sauce as if it was a wet roll. The Beef patties was almost crumbly and not as tasty and fresh as they always are. <br/>To top it off they basically just threw all the chips in the bag all over the burger.
Saabirah Hare
They really are the BEST DAMN BURGERS 🍔. I usually go for the Chilli and the Saffa because I enjoy strong food. Was really impressed with the Saffa, it was very strong! The chilli is my favourite though. I ordered the creamy mushroom once and wasn't really impressed, I expected a creamy mushroom sauce but all I had was mushrooms on the burger, but otherwise, this is a place that will never fail me 🍟
Robyn Johnson
The best damn burgers! Never disappointed after a trip to woodies🍔 the avo and the chili are definitely my favourites! They are very generous with their portions of chips too🍟! The location is perfect as it gives an excuse to go out for a drive and the view from the waterfront is always stunning🌞
The Authentic Girl
This burgers is not for the faint hearted. These burgers are huge! You create your own burger with (or without hand cut chips). The prices are quite reasonable. The burger had a beautiful char with mozzarella cheese and salad toppings.  That BBQ basting sauce was good too and complimented the char flavour in the burger. Again, I have to emphasis how huge the burger is. I loved their hand cut chips, it was delicious to pick up the leftover sauce from the burger. <br/><br/>P.S Do not wear your Sunday clothes whilst eating your Woodies burger, it will get dirty.
Sarita Kerber
Best take away burger spot at the Waterfront. It's cheep and you get a large portion of chips with your burger. It's a very straight forward menu with BBQ or chilli options and a single, double or triple option and then additional extras of what you desire.
Nicol Miller
What a yummy treat, situated in the Food Market near the docks. I opted for a single beef burger(asked to top it off with Avo) which comes with the tastiest handcut fries. Juicy, beef patty, with a perfect patty to roll ratio. And such value for money. Great 'fast food' option if you are on the go and service is efficient and friendly.
Grant & Sam
The burgers and chips are both still excellent, and quite generous on the portion size. Only criticism: we wish toppings were distributed more evenly to ensure the perfect bite each time. <br/><br/>PREVIOUS REVIEW - NOVEMBER 2016:<br/>One of the better burgers we've had in a very long time. Went with the chilli option, and it was nicely spiced, with the accompaniments complimenting the meat without overpowering it. The chips were also quite good. Will definitely be repeated when we're next in CT.
Robyn Samantha Walker
In my list of top 2 burger bars in Cape Town. <br/>Amazing burgers, cool staff and just a plain ol' cool vibe. Thanks for always satisfying my burger craving!!
Khensani Makwala
Had a great experience at Woodies this weekend. Excellent burger. I really enjoyed it. Even though there were quite a few people there, I didn't have to wait very long to get my food. Definitely going back!
Jeff Fernandes
Situated in the V+A Food Market , this place pumps which meant one thing we needed to try these burgers . And we were not disappointed . Well the setup may seem Unorthodox , the burgers are fantastic , I had the Avo and My Girlfriend the Cheese , and honestly top 5 burgers of all time . Pity they were still cutting chips so never got to taste them which people rave about  but will definitely be back for round 2 .
Lyle Julius
They say that the best things come from the most unassuming places. In this case its Woodies burgers. Iam a burger buff and i have to admit that this is hands down the best i have had. No frills no light no glitz-just a honest burger thats full of flavour and life. They are insanely busy and understandably so. Apparently the burgers are hand made and so are the sauces - all from scratch. The burger is flame grilled which adds a unique flavour + the bun is just right. WELL DONE.
Era Ace
Taste Bud Explosion! <br/><br/>I had the Chicken Chili burger & WOW! The mustard sauce along with the pickled chilies blew my mind! <br/>The chicken was juicy, not oily & the bun was fresh. <br/><br/>I will definitely be going back. Jack Gorton

Burger was amazing !!!! Can't believe it me so long to find this gem, will be back. I had the triple stack and my lovely companion had the chilli chicken burger. My only gripe was that burger was a little under seasoned but I added some salt and all was good with the world.
Zainab Abrahams Moses
Woodies has basically spoiled all other burger restaurants for my family and I! Can I say value for money?!<br/><br/>My favourite so far is The Tropicana @R55.00 as I love pineapple, even more so on their burgers! I have yet to try the other flavours but my husband has had the CMGP, The Chilli and the famous Colossus (which is very worthy of its name and quite a gut buster), my daughter gets The Cheese Burger with toppings @R30.00 and we have not yet been disappointed by either the flavour or the quality of ingredients!<br/><br/>Don't forget to add chips to your burger orders but be warned as they give quite a lot of chips for R15.00, so much so that we once couldn't even make it to our burgers filling up on all the chips they give, lol!<br/><br/>Don't go on a completely empty stomach as lines are usually quite long and you don't want to starve before you get to order but it is ever so worth the wait!
Luke Zondagh
Went there last Thursday. It was very busy, yet the person taking our order was very friendly and helpful and didn't make is feel like we part of a sausage factory. The burgers was made within 10 minutes which is incredible for the quality of burger we recieved. I had the mushroom and green pepper sauce burger and my friend had the avo burger. They were perfectly cooked and delicious. For the price and service it is really worth it to check this place out.
Khalida Parker
Woodies Burger = Satisfaction... Each time that I've had this scrumptious meal, I've been left happy and filled up. My favourite burger to order is the Avo Burger. It's tasty and filled with greatness! - be sure to take a good amount of tissues or serviettes if you are worried about a messey-face.
Minowrahvw
If you're looking for a mean, filling, messy burger with pure 100% meat and fresh ingredients, then look no further. <br/><br/>They have limited options but cater for everyone and often has a line trailing in and between tables at the V&A Food Market. <br/><br/>The wait is long, but it is definitely worth the wait.

This is by far one of the best burgers i've had in a very long time.  I had the CMGP and i really want to go back to get another burger. Great service too. Definitely a must try if you love burgers and you're in the Waterfront area.

When reading the other reviews I feel cheated and let down! On our recent visit to Cape Town, I made an effort to get one of their famous burgers. Yes, the burger was very good, but at 14h00 on a Monday they had no chips and were not able to make any until the next day. Staff didn't seem very interested in doing anything and just stood around looking at each other to see who would make the effort to cook me a burger. With effort one lady pushed herself from the counter and with a very unhappy face started assembling my burger. Haven't decided yet if I will return.

If we didn't look twice, we would've turned away and only had a drink at the counter next door. Woodies is tucked away in a dark corner. The are very understated in their decor and branding. So much so, that one could look over them.<br/><br/>Aside from their name at the top of the black partitioning and a small plastic sandwiched poster with print in a font that's difficult to read for anyone 40+, one could easily mistake them for a storage place for some of the other establishments. Or maybe it's because we arrived there ½hour before closing time. We didn't realize immediately that you could order at the opening (the staff were busy stacking crates inside).<br/><br/>But desire for food makes one brave. So Greg stepped forward and ordered a Chilli Burger (R65) with a portion of hand-cut chips (R15). <br/><br/>Un-be-lie-ve-able! <br/><br/>Huge. Saucy. Hand-made. Spicy (in the burn-sense). With TWO handpressed almost-fall-apart meat patties and delicious onion rings. <br/><br/>AMA-zing! <br/><br/>We are so going back for another (and next time, I want my own, not just a taste!)

Juicey, value for money burgers. Great for a filling lunch.<br/>Hidden upstairs in the corner of the V&A food markets - an inconspicuous burger bar.<br/>Shortish menu with a fairly wide range of flavours. Meat only.<br/>The burgers are double patties that are juicy and full of flavour. There sauces/toppings are well paired and in perfect portion to get a good crunch and juicy deliciousness in your mouth. You can add chips, which are thin well made, tradition fries.

Whenever I visit Cape Town I have to visit Woodies, how can I not when its the best beef burgers I've ever had, delicious Juicy beef patties sandwiched between soft bun,I'm salivating just thinking about it.There is a minimal menu but everything on it is just great, best part its HALAAL. they don't sell drinks so bring your own,Best, sit outside and enjoy the woodies burger with Table Mountain as a back drop.
I Love Foodies
So as most of you who follow I Love Foodies on social media will have heard, InstaEats Cape Town, Dine Guy, and I Love Foodies are running a Cape Town Burger Challenge, which is part of our #CTFoodChallenge campaign. In a nutshell, we’re looking for the best foodie places in town, and this month we’re focused on burgers. So we put out polls on Twitter, got our top five as voted by you, and now we’re on a mission to go try them all. Our first burger place of choice? Woodies!

I went to try this small place today in the afternoon for late lunch around 14;40 and I ordered CMGP and it took 7 minutes to prepare it which is a good timing , I was the only person who ordered anyway. I couldn't taste the burger bun because it was so wet because of over sauce , probably their all burger are over sauce I think what people like it not everyone is the same anyways...overall my experience was just OK it is overrated , winning point is they have the gas flame( charcoal in btw gas grill I think ) so that's what makes it tasty ,,,, looks untidy inside the store everything is everywhere

Some Burgers you can eat with a knife and fork, while others, like the ones you find at Woodies, is just right to dive in with both hands. The small menu makes it easy to order.. Waiting time can become rather long sometimes, but soon forgotten when you roll up those sleeves and start eating.<br/>We had the pineapple burger and the mushroom pepper burger. Both very satisfying and well priced.

Best Burger I have ever had! If anyone goes on down to the Waterfront they should definitely go through to woodies and grab a burger! I wish more places had burgers like this! Well done

Tried woodies out as I was told it's a must have when you visit the very V&A market.<br/>Burgers are really good and tasty, they are also reasonably priced, not often do you find a good burger for R30. <br/><br/>There is always a long queue so it must be good!😃

Have heard and read excellent reviews about the burgers at Woodies. And it lived up to its expectation. Menu is limited to a few burger options but it has variety. The burgers we had was delicious and the patties were flavorful and perfectly done. Really really good burgers!! Would definitely go back for more!

Tried out woodies today. After a long wait in the line as well as for the food my expectations were high. I have to say they were only met halfway my cheddar burger was tasty but cold as I got into the patty. So that was disappointing. Sashen had the tropicana burger with chicken which he thoroughly enjoyed. All in all though a good spot that offers value for money burgers. Hoping today was just an off day with them with the cheddar burgers.

With all the ranting and ravings on Woodies, we decided to give them a try. A hidden gem located upstairs at the V&A Food Market on the Wharf. The menu is not extensive but there are enough options to choose from without being too overbearing. <br/><br/>The burgers are made from 100% ground beef and seasoned to perfection. There is a bit of a wait as the burgers are freshly made...but oh so worth it!<br/><br/>Hubby opted for The Triple Stack and myself The Avo burger. Both burgers were so juicy, delicious and flavoursome...and not to mention they are generous in size!<br/><br/>With so many "spoilt-for-choice" burger joints in Cape Town, my expectation was high...needless to say they certainly delivered on flavour and taste Hashtag: Yum!!<br/>

Great evening out meeting the HashtagCrew! Owner Murbier was fantastic, friendly and super attentive. The burgers are HUGE and tasty! Great value for money and we were so blessed to receive the 10% discount for the month of July as Woodies has 10 000 likes on FB! Well done Woodies very well deserved! Thank you for the complimentary fries they went down a treat! Definitely will be back :-)

Best R30 burger I've had in my life & generous portion of chips along with it. Definitely recommend it! <br/><br/>Great atmosphere to go along with the food.

There are so many burger places in Cape Town I feel it's becoming "the thing" now. I had heard so many things about Woodies I had to give it a try. So on a Sunday afternoon I ventured out to V & A Waterfront with the sole purpose to pick up a burger. <br/><br/>So I find hidden away in the upstairs section of the V & A Market I find Woodies. And try to its stories I had heard, there was a bit of a line. I was determined to try this place out. To my surprised, my wait was quick and I finally placed my order. 1x The Avo and 1x Triple Stack ( yes I was hungry!!). Sadly they were out of chip and busy cutting a batch. I decided I'll come back to try the fries. <br/><br/>After a 15 minute wait my burger were ready in their individual bags and whisked away to be scoffed at rapid pace. <br/><br/>The overall taste of the burger was very good and cooked well, Not over or under done. Holding it in your hand didn't fall apart or make the bun go soggy. <br/><br/>The pricing is pretty much on point for most burgers places but when something is done well. It's worth going back for.

People have been ranting and raving about Woodies burgers since they opened, and they even brave queues and long waiting times!<br/><br/>I've given them a try in the past (beef burger) and was really disappointed in the taste of the burger. I just feel that the patty really lacked flavour, like it needs more ginger, garlic, chilies, coriander or even just some more seasoning. <br/><br/>Despite my past experience, I recently gave them another try, this time the chicken burger. Well, because maybe I was missing something... So I waited in a queue for 45min to place my order and then a further 15-20min for my burger. <br/><br/>Ok, so the chicken burger is better than the beef one in terms of flavour, but it still didn't knock my socks off! I feel like I could probably get a tastier burger and avoid the long queue and waiting time at a Steers. <br/><br/>I feel like people over-exaggerate sometimes due to the lack of Halaal options in Cape Town, so anything that is remotely decent becomes 'amazing'. Oh well, I guess everyone has different standards. The burgers aren't bad, they just not amazing and queue-worthy in my opinion. <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>

The woodies original burger was a bit underwhelming for me. It tasted a bit like a burger you would eat from burger king or steers. It would be great for a hangover though, greasy and cheesy. My friends decided to have the colossus which had 400g of beef, spilt into four patties which they raved about afterwards. The service is good, it's best to take your burger downstairs and enjoy it sitting outside the market of its a sunny day.

Really delicious burgers. Nicely basted and super juicy - these burgers are just packed with flavour! The only thing I would change in the bun. a nice brioche bun would go perfectly.
Kelly
Burgers are amazing every time, and the chips are delicious too. Waiting time is never excessively long- even during busy hours. <br/><br/>Well worth the trip to the waterfront. <br/><br/>Best burgers in town, by far.
Mahomed Esmail Paruk
Triple stack burger very tasty, food in general tasty, only two issues:<br/>Chips come in a cup - sort of falls out<br/>They do not serve any cool drinks- you have to buy elsewhere.
Nadine Franks
Best burger I've ever had.. Had it 3 times in a span of a week when I visited CPT on holiday in early February. Every burger was extremely tasty and was definitely a big highlight of my trip! Definitely recommend my jhb peeps to check it out.. Nothing like it in JHB and its Halaal!

I have been a fan of Woodies from the first time they fired up their grills at the Waterfront Food Market. This halaal gourmet burger is sure to give you a foodgasm. A favourite of mine is the Creamy mushroon green pepper burger..my mouth is watering as I'm typing. If that's not up your ally try the Chilli with Avo. If you are feeling brave and go there so hungry you could eat a horse try the Collosus- thee biggest burger i have ever seen.

One of the best burger joints in town. Patties always so fresh and hot. Fries on point. Will always suggest Woodies anytime as long as I'm in the area. <br/>They do have awkward operating hours in the afternoon though.
