Stopped for a car repair issue and saw this place upstairs of an unassuming and bland business park. Interesting decor in that it looks like they fired the interior designer right at the start and brought in cousin Bert who just loves pottering about in his wood shop and also dabbles in copper pipe decorations. Norman Bates’ mum might very well have chipped in with her driftwood chandelier creations.
Very warm and effusive welcome, and sterling service. Wine cold and before anything else, a bread roll and butter is delivered. Haven’t seen that for a while. Not in South Africa at any rate.
There are a couple of suspiciously giant speakers in the corners, a mirror ball mounted on the ceiling and what looks like a small stage against another wall. Perhaps they do a Mediterranean ho-down?
I ordered a ‘speciality’ of prawns and calamari with rice. A relatively modest portion with a savoury rice that would not win any awards, with, for some reason, raw carrot sticks cut with a machete, but for the price, an absolutely lovely meal and well worth it. Accidentally tipped 22% instead of my usual 15, and was quite happy with that. Will be back.
Best Portuguese restaurant in Cape Town! Truly authentic. Delicious food. Great service. Highly recommend!
My sister travelling from the UK, ended her 2 week Cape Town holiday today. Before leaving to go back home tomorrow, she wanted to eat some excellent Portuguese food. Petiscos did not disappoint, from the most scrumptious food, amazing live music and festive vibe. We couldn’t of asked for better way to enjoy our Sunday with family. Best chicken in Cape Town 👌
