Review Burrata - Cape Town Central

Amazing place to visit when you have the chance. They have many food stalls with communal tables, interesting local products and even vintage items to shop for! Although it rained during my trip there, the place do have some sheltered areas for you to hide out for a bit. :)

Loved the atmosphere and variety of food on sale. It was an actual, proper diverse crowd of locals and tourists and one of the few places I visited in CT that had a crowd that reflected the diversity of the country in a welcoming way. A great way to spend your Sunday, fantastic music and food from all over the world at reasonable prices. Plus independent fashion and craft stores if you’re in the mood to shop. Would definitely add to your list of things to do during your visit to Cape Town.

After looking at the reviews, we decided to check this place out anyways. They were right, It seems most of action happens on Saturday, but since we don't prefer crowd we thought we would go during the week and then again on Saturday. During the week, we found just the restaurants and hi end shops. Yea, It wasn't all the flair, but we did get some good photos of the mountain. We went back on Saturday and there were people everywhere having a good time. There was a DJ, great food, drinks and vendors there selling all sorts of goodies.

Good place to have food.. There is a DJ that will let you dance during your lunch.. Good to visit Some shops there is like leather, clothes and gifts Normal hours there, 1.5 to 2

Lovely food stalls, some are hit and miss so try them all out. I enjoyed the halal Korean food place that also does Boba. There’s a place that sells giant cupcakes, also a win for me. The oysters are so fresh and delicious, definitely yes. The falafel shawarma place at the entrance on the right is meh. The place on the right right at the end that does breakfast and curries and rice is also meh (so disappointing). There’s a place that does a veg dish and a meat dish near the oyster stall but in the first tent on the left side -their dhal was insanely good (Annie’s Cape Malay or something?) Also really enjoyed the pastries and fried food at one of the stalls on the right side, the sweetcorn fritters and mebos chutney were amazing. The only thing that bothers me here is the music is way too loud because there’s a live DJ, but I would rather enjoy my food with a bit more quiet and the ability to have a conversation, esp at 10am.

Personnally the food made it for me! I enjoyed the Ghanaian jollof rice and plantain. Some cocktails were so gooood like amatropicana. You should definitely give it a try. The ambiance was lit! And some great spot to take cute pics. Obviously the only ick for me was finding places to seat and eat. It was kinda crowded. But overall I enjoyed it

Great food & drinks and awesome stores. Weekend vibes atmosphere

Finally went to the Old Biscuit Mill, and I can say I've been missing out. The prices, the vibe, and the experience was like no other. It is similar to Mojo Market but with more grit and the old fashioned home bespoke vendors sharing their art be it food, clothing, farm produce etc. I particularly enjoyed the dim sum stand (not sure of the name) they had great vegan options. The Sprung stand also had a very tasty vegan spring roll. For the meat lovers there are quite a few lovely options too, this market is such a vibe don't sleep on it.

Having a delicious cup of coffee and watching the sun rise from my table outside...breakfast special includes this coffee. Great, friendly service! And you can purchase a range of olive oils, B-well mayonnaise, and preserves.

Best Naples pizza in Cape Town. Lovely place, amazing pizza and fantastic dessert! Very very interesting wine list selection too.

Popped in for a quick salad, but the manager recommended a Pizza '(served in 15min), which was absolutely devine, light and easy meal... Service was great. Have to go back for an evening meal.
Melanie Hoffman
It used to be really good and special. Last 2 times just a sad place cutting corners everywhere. Not clean not nice. Same items on menu as before but cooked so badly. Arancini using old overcooked rice, prawn pasta: nothing like original dish, no lemon no garlic taste and smelly tough prawns. How to ruin a perfectly good restaurant: cut corners. Very sad, we used to go all the time, no more.
Amanda Rykaart
The pizza was to die for. The rest of the menu looked good and the coffee was delicious. Service was friendly and good. Personally did not like the pretentious tourist vibe that transfers from the area.
Paula Joubert
Beautiful warm winter atmosphere with the food always at its best. The pasta with pulled pork was outstanding, the amount of meat very surprising.

Personnel chaleureux et attentionné.Un bon travail d'équipe qui se ressent dans les plats.Tout les plats sont faits devant les clients.Waouh ! Excellente cuisine italienne !

We ordered Burrata via Uber eats. Expensive, doughy and tasteless. Really disappointing. Also small portions so don't order if you're super hungry. Total letdown.
Dane Bezuidenhout
Check with your server when ordering starters, it is not clear that some of them are cold/raw meat, which is not to everyone's taste. Mains were good (steak and fish even though they brought the wrong fish) and desserts sublime. Serving staff need some polishing training.

Friendly, fast service and truly delicious food! Cool location too!

Great food, staff and service! I recomend the Carpaccio

What an amazing meal I had last night! The gnocchi was superb; our waitress was super friendly; and the restaurant itself is cosy and intimate. Diversity among diners - from the young to the old. Definitely my new favourite, eat out spot ;)
Ivan Mostert
Great service, good food and very good cocktails.

Wonderful setting, wonderful food, wonderful wine - it was a wonderful night Thank You Burrata! We will be back very soon.

Wonderful pizza! Good service.

Great visit back in January 2015. Great food, wine and location!

Amazing food and amazing people.Great service.Fantastic!!!

What an amazing night, from the burrata starter, through to the 3 pizzas we polished and the well chosen wines :)
Stefano Magni
To be honest we were expecting food of a higher standard and more Italian.

Popped in for a quick lunch before going gin tasting, the pizzas were delicious; however, the service was rather lacklustre which I'll put down to the waitress being new (or atleast that is the only reason I can think of for such poor service)

We decided to visit Burrata after the good reviews however it was nothing to right home about. The pizzas portions were big in size but not taste. The flavours were a bit boring compared to our high expectations. We also tried the crispy pork risotto which was delicious it definitely saved the day. Would I go back? No I think there are plenty of other places to enjoy a good pizza. Also I was a bit disappointed with the cocktails on offer. Most were not available and I needed to go through a process of elimination before they had an option available for me.

My partner and I found a voucher on Hyperli for two for pizza at Burrata. It was a really great deal because we wouldn't have normally have been able to afford a restaurant like Burrata.<br/><br/>Burrata is located in the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, so the location is quite central as it is quite close to the city centre. The staff at Burrata were extremely friendly during our dinner and when making our booking. I contacted the restaurant the day before about my voucher and to make a booking - I received a response the same day which was amazing.<br/><br/>On the day, we had three courses in roughly an hour!!! For starters, my partner and I ordered the porcini and mozzarella risotto balls with truffle aioli and parsley oil to share. The balls were super creamy and rich! Very glad we shared as they were extremely filling.<br/><br/>For our mains, my partner ordered Prosciutto e Arugula pizza (mozzarella, parmesan, prosciutto and rocket). I ordered the Deire bianco pizza (mozzarella, truffle spread and mushrooms). The Deire pizza was supposed to come with prosciutto but I am vegetarian so I requested for it to be omitted. Usually when I have a pizza, the best part are the toppings while the base is just a holder for the toppings but this was different. The base was probably the focus of this pizza and was so wholesome and absolutely delicious. after two slices, both of us were super full.<br/><br/>For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu. It was made up of mascarpone mousse, espresso jelly and coffee gelato. I usually am not a fan of jelly but the gelato was great.<br/><br/>Overall, an amazing culinary experience!

New favorite pizza spot in Cape Town 😍 Cosy vibe, and the most unreal pizza with a delicious base with the best kind of crust & great sauce. Friendly service as well!
Pen Trevena
By far one of my favorite pizzas in Cape Town, friendly staff and a really nice atmosphere! Will definitely be back for that delicious pizza. You can taste the quality of their ingredients, such a memorable eating experience!
Kate
Gone down since a few years back. Unfortunately the menu has decreased since a few years back. Portion sizes are very inconsistent with half our table leaving hungry and the other half unable to finish their meal

Really a 3 score, my margherita lacked soul. It’s like the chef had his ‘gone fishing’ sign on the door and left his new apprentice in charge. The pictures I took of the pizza tells this exact story. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good pizza - but has so much potential to become great pizza. <br/><br/>The wine list is however amazing - there’s grape varietals on there that I’ve not heard of before. <br/><br/>The extra point is for the friendliest staff. From the waiters to the host to the manager himself. We were even offered a free dessert for the inconvenience caused with the lights being worked on when we arrived; we basically sat in the dark for about 20 min. I’m not a fan of deconstructed desserts, so the tiramisu was not my fave. But it’s the thought that counts and deserving of a point. <br/><br/>Had very high expectations and will need to give it another shot when the chef returns from his ‘fishing trip’.

Wow! I heard great things about the pizza and was not disappointed , had the burrata for starters and pizza for mains. Everything is so good including the pastas! One of the best pizzas I’ve eaten

So I happen to love all things Italian and let me just burrata never lets me down when it comes to pizza they’re dough it’s light and fluffy and they put just the right amount of sauce and cheese. A pizza worth trying is their signature pizza which is the burrata it’s they’re yummy pizza dough with mounts of burrata cheese and lots and lots of fresh basil and tomatoes

Delicious food. Excellent recommendations from Hilton, a most professional, friendly and efficient waiter. I had the gnocchi - small but super filling portion with amazing flavor. My partner had the pork shoulder pizza. Both dishes were superb. Nice easy vibe in a cool setting. Will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu.

I am always in the hunt for pizza places that make great Neapolitan pizzas<br/>Burrata is definitely on the list<br/>Pity I live in Johannesburg <br/>I had a plain margarita, the measure of any pizza!<br/>My wife had the Del Re which was a white pizza with mushrooms, truffle and Parma ham.<br/>The dough is outstanding!!!<br/>Service was good <br/>Arancini well prepared( although would love to see the original Sicilian ones with tomato in)<br/>Overall I walked away very satisfied with my experience!

I always love eating here! The food is delicious and fresh and not too fussy. Good homemade Italian. Lovely ambience. Good service. You will enjoy it!

Whilst wondering around the Old Biscuit Mill on Saturday we decided to forgo the extremely busy food market in lieu of the quiet, peaceful atmosphere of Burrata. The restaurant is completely unassuming, in fact at first glance it looks a bit like your run of the mill student hangout. The menu and service on the other hand- amazing! We were helped very quickly and the food did not take long either. Opting for a little bit of everything (the menu is so good that committing to one meal seems a bit boring) we went for the arancini with aioli, pizza bread with rosemary and the spicy lamb meatballs. The pizza bread is tasty but perhaps a little too cheesy. The arancini was very generously portioned and delicious with a light crunch, the meatballs were the resounding favorite. Perfectly seasoned. I'd recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Went for dinner with friends. Food is amazing. My friend is vegan and gluten free and they made an amazing dish for her. The wine selection is out of this world and the service was really good. Thanks for having us.

The Service was excellent, Jean (hope I'm spelling it correctly) was on point with his recommendations and attentive, prices were super reasonable, passed my appetizer test (R20) AND last but not least the food was Amazing. Looking forward to going back

Well well well, this evening turned into a very pleasant surprise. Myself and two other friends had early dinner plans in town, however due to Cape Town traffic (why is there ALWAYS traffic, no matter what time in Cape Town?!) we decided to go somewhere close to observatory. Barrata was the winning candidate. The decor is very classic, not family Italian restaurant style but rather classy. The prices, however, aren't completely unreasonable. To begin we shared the spinach and artichoke dip with a side of bread which was lovely. For mains we had the arboro rice, truffle oil and goat cheese risotto- this meal was by far my favourite. The goat cheese was strong and all the flavors and ingredients complimented each other so nicely. The consistency of the dish was also perfect- I'm a risotto snob. Next was the ricotta was ravioli with mushrooms- can't remember the exact name of the dish- but it was very good! Not a whole lot of flavor but very nice. We also got a margherita pizza which was actually pretty fab. Thin crust, wood fire oven, fresh ingredients, drool. I thought ferdinandos had the best pizza in town but I think they may have a new competitor! For dessert we ordered the tiramisu- it had a strong coffee taste and was delicious. However the best dessert was by far the ginger, burnt honey, ice cream cake thing- not entirely sure what it was (sorry) but oh my word it was just to die for. Perfect size, unreal palette, si many different flavors but so complimentary ! It was a good first experience and I look forward to my next visit !

Paid Buratta a visit for two of my friends graduation celebration. They were really accommodating and have round tables large enough for 7 and more. Service was a hit and miss. The waitress was super energetic with great recommendations but would disappear for long periods. She recommended a bottle of wine and cocktail to us, we went for both, only to be told after waiting for over 15 mins on cocktails and near 25 mins on wine that they couldn't provide either as they were out of stock. Food was decent, enjoyed the calamari/squid starter was good, whilst the highly recommended arancini was just okay. For mains I had the braised springbok pasta, they were generous on meat in the ragout though the pasta was more chewy than al dente. My partner had the steak and felt the portion was too small. Nice touch from the team was a complimentary tequila for the graduates. Overall okay meal, good experience in general, a little on the pricey end, won't be rushing back.
Janice Hudson-Windsor
Absolutely delicious food. All 3 pasta orders at our table were met with happy nods of approval. Springbok shank rigatoni - a hit with an uber picky-eater; spaghetti with pulled pork - massive hit and perfectly al dente; pasta pockets = one very content vegetarian. 2 of us had the pizza, both very satisfied customers, although we agreed to ask the pizza chef to cook the base a little bit longer next time. But was still absolutely delicious. Wine menu is proper expensive and the R65 corkage, coupled with your own bottle is still cheaper than the cheapest bottle of red on the menu, but the food prices are very reasonable. Keen for a return visit, with my own bottle of red in tow ;)

I only had a cocktail laced with dark chocolate here and it was not a good idea. If a dark chocolate and alcohol don't overwhelm you, this drink is for you. I will return because my waitress was very good and patient, waiting for me to order something else so because of the good service, I will give Burrata another chance very soon!

Undoubtedly the best pizza I have ever ever had - don't think I will be the same again. I am considering never eating pizza again coz I don't think it will ever be this good!

I've been to Burrata twice now and have been thoroughly impressed with the food on both visits. On my most recent one, I had the arancini with aioli, which was very tasty but did not come close to what was possibly the best pasta I've had - the spaghetti nero with lemon marinated prawns. The dish was fresh and the combination of the squid ink pasta and garlic and prawns worked really well together. Great presentation and a suitable portion size have guaranteed that this will be my standard meal for this restaurant. I went for the almond cake, poached pear with dark chocolate glaze, pear and rosemary sorbet for dessert and would also highly recommend it - the sorbet complemented the almond cake beautifully and was fresh and light. I did find that the waitress was somewhat overwhelmed by the large size of group (approx. 14 people) and their selection of wines by the bottle is on the pricey side but I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a classy, unpretentious Italian restaurant.

I am lucky enough to live in close to burrata so I am able to order from them through Uber eats. All I have to say is they make my favorite pizza in Cape Town. It's there prawn and calamari pizza, I've had it two nights in a row and am still craving it!!!
Jamie Kelly
Food is incredible. Staff are very prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. Tortellini as a starter - the flavour is something to be reckoned. Amazing pizzas and pastors for mains, and risotto to die for. Suggestion - Preserved lemon and bone marrow. A top choice for a family or fancy dinner alike. We will definitely be back!
Johan Labuschagne
Pleasantly surprised. Burrata turns pizza and pasta into a feast for the eyes and palate. And at a fraction of the price of their Neighbouring restaurants. Can't wait to go back :)
Uressa Chetty
Burrata has an elegant atmosphere and the staff are always warm and welcoming. It's a great place for pizza and their margarita is reasonably priced and of great quality. It has a crispy base and the ingredients always taste really fresh.
Kiki Liki
Sadly disappointed to see one of my favorite restaurants in Cape Town has taken a turn for the worst. Celebrated my sisters 21st birthday last night, which ended up as a bitter disappointment. The atmosphere here is so lovely, just a pity that the food was barely edible.
Davidgrind
WORSE THAN DISAPPOINTING.<br/> Took a group of 6 last night for celebration. One of the 6 mains was fine, 1 passable and the remaining 4 simply awful to inedible<br/>Seafood pizza arrived ice cold. No apology.. Was simply put back in fired oven and seafood ended up completely inedible.<br/>"Seared tuna" was cooked right through.<br/>Spaghetti Nero had no white anchovies and seafood cooked so long it's texture rubbery and tasteless.<br/>When even the 2 hungry university students get doggie bags for the street kids you know there's a problem.<br/>The only thing everyone enjoyed was the wine.<br/>It has always been one of my favorite restaurants which I have recommended to others many times.<br/>I haven't been there for a while so don't know if it was just a bad night or a more serious problem. <br/>Dave

Horrible pizza! Very thick base and very little toppings. Pizza was also burned and cold. Never eating there again. Tasteless pizza, be warned!
Susan Van Heerden
We came with Danish guests on recommendations from other people. There were so many things that ruined this evening for us. Out of 5 food items we wanted to order 3 were not available. Two if us ended up ordering canneloni as this was only vegetarian option available on the menu. The other 3 ordered pizzas . Our vegetarian food arrived which from the onset was disappointing as it was the size of a starter portion. No pizza in sight for the other guests. I complained as we were nearly finished by the time their food arrived. The manager did give us a free bottle of bubbly which I know for a fact cost them nothing as it was donated. Not once did the waiter ask us if we were happy with our meal. He seemed though to have enough time to look at photos from another guest. Not once did he fill our glasses or ask if we wanted more drinks. He eventually brought the dessert menu when he found time to tear himself away from looking at photos. We wanted coffee but did not bother as he then decided to make chit chat with the other staff instead of taking our order. Would I ever go here again or recommend it to others.....Never. The only highlight of the evening was the car guard! <br/><br/>
Lenita Johan
We went for supper. Had the arancini balls for starters which were great. We had 2 pizzas, the prawn n calamari and the pulled pork. Hands down the base is one of the best but the flavors on the actual pizza was just ok nothing phenomenal. Service was slightly slow and the their was a noise coming from the vent or something that bothered us. The team was welcoming though. Questioning whether to return or not.
Andrew Raeburn
Beautiful pizzeria and meat deli! Ordered 6 take away pizzas! Restuarant was packed and they cared for the take out orders with great service and perfect timing. The hostess was fantastic , she made sure all the condiments and serviettes where packed and ready to go (unlike many take out services) and Everyone loved their pizzas! I would love to have a sit down meal there.
Aparna Jayachandran
The food is good, but the service leaves a LOT to be desired. My dining companion's food arrived a good ten minutes before mine. Waitress came to clear our starter dish and asked whether we were ready for our mains... His main was already in front of him. Then she disappeared into the kitchen and came back with a menu to tell me that the main I ordered twenty minutes prior wasn't available. Easily the worst dining experience I have had in a while. Thumbs down. Not coming here again.
Kyle-Peter Hauptfleisch
90 seconds. <br/><br/>That's how long they cook probably the best pizza you'll ever have in their 480°C Italian oven. If you're stuck, have the one with rocket and pulled pork.<br/><br/>The pasta - so fortunate to have a girlfriend that doesn't finish all her food - was also outstanding.<br/><br/>The evening brought tears to my eyes. Ironically, my only gripe. New wood in the oven = temporary eye burning atmosphere. Hardly worth the half a point penalty.<br/><br/>The only thing better than the food was their service.
Jeff Fernandes
Managed to get a last minute table at Burrata on a Saturday evening . The starters were great, the squid and risotto balls are divine  , however the pizza was nothing special , myself and my partner shared a plain Margarita and another with Parma Ham . The setting is fantastic and the service is great . However we were both a bit dissapointed with the Pizza .
Monique Wyndham
My boyfriend and I celebrated a special occasion here recently and I must say I wasn't overly impressed. We had heard so much about these amazing pizzas but to be honest something was missing - we've had better? It looked great on the plate but flavour wise something just wasn't right. However the Rissotto balls were out of this world!!!! Soooooooo delicious đŸ‘ŒđŸŒ I think we would consider going back to give it another shot and hopefully our opinions on the pizza will change.
Murray Lovemore
Went here for a small dinner function, was really impressed by the service, being just a few steps away from The Test Kitchen and Potluck, I think Buratta does really well. <br/>Try their ravioli.
Karine Dequeker
Great stopover in the city. Loved the tapas style dishes and the pizza. Great wines by the glass. Wish we leaved closer to this restaurant to make it a family weekly lunch escape?
Marcus Christiansen
I've been here twice. The restaurant has a really warm & cosy atmosphere. Their pizzas are really recommendable  as well as their wine selection.
Kieran Pearce
Just like it's sister restaurant, Burrata really embellished real Italian food. The prosecco was excellent and we shared a pizza and a pasta.<br/>It felt homely and wholesome and I honestly can't wait to go back.
I Love Foodies
Burrata at the Old Biscuit Mill has popularly been voted as one of Cape Town’s top Italian eateries, and a visit to this spot will surely explain why. Those less familiar with Burrata will surely know Bocca, their town-side gem, and the divine food you’ll get there is exactly the same goodness you’ll experience at Burrata, the original restaurant.
Adrian Ciesielski
We went here two nights ago for my Dad's birthday and really enjoyed it. Whilst it is not a steak joint by any means (one option), the meat was made to perfection, and really tender. In addition, the starters were delicious, but the poached figs were a bit too rich for my palate. Overall, a great place to go especially after the market or a session at HintHunt
Rrbex Noms
Great pizzas! The ingredients were fresh and I loved how flavourful the pizza base was! Quite pricey, although considering its location that comes as no surprise. Had a good time seated outside. The service was rather disappointing.
Tessa Brown
For a real Italian experience, try the Margherita for its thick cheesy goodness, and the risotto for a taste explosion. The Ficchi is also a great pizza to try, although very rich so I recommend sharing. The mousse dessert is really amazing too.

The food is okay, however the service is terrible! Incredibly slow and generally arrogant attitude. For the prices they charge on food and wine they need to get their act together. Staff need some serious training in menu knowledge and service. It's a hit or miss...
Taste_buds_sa
Lovely place to go to for dinner. Amazing warm and welcoming atmosphere with great, attentive service. Ordered the cauliflower pops for starters and they were divine. We each ordered a pizza and apparently they're authentically Italian, however they are very chewy and very cheesy (delicious - but strange if you're a South African who is used to the Col Cacchio type pizza). Overall, a very enjoyable place to go to.

Omg. Cauliflower poppers with basil pesto, margherita pizza with salami, gnocchi with bacon and broccoli, spicy lamb balls with quinoa, FAULTLESS.
Peter Johnson
One of the best pizzas if not the best I have ever had. Olivia had the gnocchi which I reluctantly sampled and was so surprised. Brilliantly soft, smooth and delicious. John had the pizza prosciutto with heaps of small rocket. We were taken by the floor mounted manual meat slicer such an artifact!
The Foodie Corner
I'm always excited to visit the Old Biscuit Mill, whether it be enjoying tapas at The Pot Luck Club or walking around the Saturday market. With the likes of The Test Kitchen to compete with, Burrata really had to deliver if they wanted to impress. And after a wonderful night of celebrating my bestie's 21st, I now understand what she was going on about when she said BEST PIZZAS EVER!<br/><br/>Let's start at the beginning - wine and tapas. Accompanied by good conversation, you simply can't go wrong with this combination. We order a range of starters to share, including squid, duck confit, cauliflower pops, meatballs, risotto balls and prosciutto. My personal favorite was the risotto balls, which were deliciously cheesy, with just a hint of bacon for that extra flavor. The meatballs were also tasty, although a bit hot if you don't like spicy foods, and came with a side of couscous. The cauliflower pops were interesting - crunchy little cauliflower bites with a basil dipping sauce. They didn't have much flavor, but the crunchy texture was nice. I also enjoyed the duck, which was served in a sort of jar, but I don't think it's a dish for everyone. Served cold with sort of a Thai inspiration taste-wise.<br/><br/>It wasn't difficult to decide that, for a first time visit to Burrata, we had to order pizzas. I had the Di Mare, which is their seafood pizza. Most delicious pizza I've ever tasted! Absolutely next level! I don't know how they do it, but their pizza base is just amazing. Thin in the middle with generous toppings, crunchy but not dry, with a crust that is neither too thick nor too thin and deliciously chewy. My friend who never eats her pizza crust says she could literally just eat a plate of Burrata's crusts, that's how amazing it is! Going back to the Di Mare - the proportion of toppings to pizza base was perfect and I loved the sauce it was drizzled with. Another pizza that I would highly recommend is the one with parma ham - cheesy and simply delicious (like bacon, you just can't go wrong with parma ham). <br/><br/>There are so many other exciting things to try on their menu - pastas, fish, pork, more pizzas. So I would definitely visit again! <br/><br/>Their dessert selection is quite limited, with only 4 options on the menu. I was quite surprised by the lack of traditional Italian desserts, like tiramisu and homemade ice cream. Most of the table ended up ordering the almond cake. My one friend really just wanted a sort of trio of sorbets, and our waiter was more than happy to organize this for us. <br/><br/>Overall, a lovely dining experience and a perfect venue to hold a small, intimate 21st. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. The tapas were nice and I would have them again, but I wouldn't rave about it. Pizzas were delicious, I'm giving them five stars for that! Service was quick, but it became a bit noisy later in the evening and difficult to hear the person sitting next to you. Although I did love their choice of background music! I'd like to see maybe a greater variety of desserts. Although their food is delicious, I feel they're perhaps a bit overpriced... For a hearty Italian joint. <br/><br/>Top tips: If there's one thing you take away from this review, it's that you MUST try their pizzas! Book in advance because they're very full and space is limited. And come with a healthy wallet, a bottle of your finest wine and good company!
Andy Walker
Awesome waitstaff complement Burrata's accomodating, laid-back atmosphere. The food (at least the gnocchi I had) was a bit too salty. Would like to visit again though.

We were treated to an exceptional meal on Saturday at Burrata. <br/>First, with a combination of starters: lamb meatballs with a quinoa salad, grilled calamari with preserved lemon, garlic and chilli, and cauliflower pops with a basil pesto. A generous portion of each and a wonderful mix of flavours. <br/>Their wine list is extensive and a truly magnificent selection to choose from.<br/>For main course we were adventurous with the poached octopus, squid ink pasta and gremolata, and then the decadent asparagus risotto with truffle oil and goats cheese. Absolutely superb! We were so full towards the end so just shared a dessert - the hazelnut mousse I think, with sour cherries and banana ice-cream. <br/>Our waitress was attentive and her attention to detail was excellent, and we even had the head chef, Chris Wynn, come to our table to explain a few more of the dishes. <br/>Burrata launched their new menu a couple of months ago, and this Italian restaurant leans more towards Italian fine dining than you may expect. A fantastic experience!
Mandy Jones
I really enjoyed Burrata! Their pizzas were delicious, although a little on the pricy side. You'll need to be prepared for a drier pizza if you're ordering one without tomato paste as this was the general opinion at our table. I was lucky and ordered what was the tastiest option.. The mushroom, prosciutto and truffle paste pizza was absolutely fantastic! My other favorite was their risotto balls.. Yum!! All in all, I'd definitely go their again!
Nishela Ramgoolam
Burrata was nice as far as pizzas go. Flavours were good. Would have preferred a thinner and crispier base though. Great decor. Service was good.
Max Hayes
The juice was nice.  beer was fine.  but the food was overwhelmingly average for such a highly rated restaurant.  stingy pizza portions with squidgy wet dough.Pushy staff that imply that you should buy a bottle of still or sparkling water for the table.  We are in the Western Cape, the water is demonstrably fine.  And the water was just the beginning of what ended up being an uncomfortable, upselling, pushy staff experience.  I would like to relax while i eat my food.  I'm not sure what i expected from a tourist trap. That being said, pomegranate juice was delicious.
Bryan House
I experienced one of the best pizzas in my lifetime and the secret is definitely in the higher quality of ingredients used. I had the Prosciutto e aragula which had a generous amount of toppings. The pizza crust is also delicious as it has a unique stretchy texture. There is also a great selection of craft beers and all prices are very reasonable for the quality you get, we will be back!

Tried this Woodstock hotspot for the first time for my brother-in-law to be's 25th birthday and it was the most delightful experience! Such a unique combination of authentic Italian, rustic interior design and fine dining. The staff truly care about their customers and our waitress, Samantha was amazing. She was tentative and knew every detail regarding the menu and was quick to make suggestions about their new dishes. We brought special wines for the occasion and were treated to the most amazing service by the restaurant's knowledgeable sommelier, Spencer. If you're big into your wine, you'll love the special treatment!<br/><br/>Our cocktails were properly made and tasted divine as were the delicious risotto balls & garlic focaccia bread that we had for starters. I don't know what magic spell they use to make the dough for the pizza bread, but it is exquisite!!<br/><br/>I had their brand new fish dish which was grilled kingklip served with a rich & flavoursome medley of chopped veggies, all surrounded by a delicate sauce that added a creamy texture and completed the meal perfectly! My mum raved about her pasta and my sisters and the birthday boy said the puffy-crusted pizza was the best they've had in Cape Town!<br/><br/>The menu offers something for everyone and the prices are not ridiculous... Especially for the overall top quality experience as well as the impeccable service that you get! You won't be disappointed!

Firstly I will not be going back to this establishment due to the complete lack of service from the staff. <br/><br/>Drinks took 20 minutes & the food was not brought together. Food took 40 minutes-even though most of the table got pizzas. <br/><br/>The pizza was unique and tasty. The pasta was regrettably small & under seasoned. <br/>Alexandra Kent Blake Henderson

With their impressive neighbours at the Old Biscuit Mill, we had high expectations for this beautifully modern and contemporary Italian restaurant. The starter of Burrata cheese was average but unfortunately, the main pizza's were bland and overly salty. The only redeemable qualities for the restaurant was the impressive wine list and desserts. Won't be returning anytime soon.

Burrata is a trendy Italian restaurant in Woodstock's Old Biscuit Mill. The decor gives it a modern, clean and contemporary feel and the menu lists traditional Italian with a modern, edgy twist. The execution of the food, I find, is slightly off the mark though. I found some of the dishes needed some more seasoning, other less. Some had too much cream or another, too little body. Don't get me wrong, the food is good it's just not great. The service we received was great, the waiters were well-informed on their food and they offer a good, healthy wine menu. Give it a try for yourself.

Heard great things about Burrata and we were not disappointed. To start with the service is absolutely brilliant, the manager/sommelier seemed to know every dish down to the tiniest detail so he was very helpful in helping us decide what to eat. <br/>We shared a Margherita pizza, for me it was spot on what a Neopolitan pizza should be with a slightly "bready" crust that's not too firm, with a few dollops of homemade mozzarella cheese and fresh vibrant tomato sauce and some basil to garnish - perfect. <br/>I then had the sweetbread ravioli which was a bit disappointing as it was under-seasoned and I couldn't really tell there were sweetbreads in the dish. The accompanying brodo (broth) wasn't very flavourful either. <br/>For mains I had the leek risotto with chorizo oil which was delicious, to my taste it was a bit rich for a full main course portion, and the creme fraiche that they garnish it with makes it even more rich, so I couldn't finish it without risking cardiac arrest. I also tried the rigatoni with short rib which was great, but it court have been more refined. The short rib pieces could have been a bit smaller to go better with the pasta and the dish could have been more "saucy" in my opinion, it cried out for some parmegiano regiano also which was missing. <br/>For dessert we had the dark chocolate tart on pistachios which didn't look appetising at all but tasted delicious. <br/>The wine list is great with lots of alternative options (we had the Spice Route Grenache which was delicious).<br/>Overall we really enjoyed it but felt it missed the mark on a few dishes. We will be back.

Wow! Super impressed with the pizzas from Buratta. It's tucked away in the old biscuit mill. The dough is out of this world..just like a true naples pizza! Had a Magherita and a Veg with goats cheese, mushrooms, caramelised onions and rocket. Must go back for more <br/><br/>2 days later : went back for more. The mare pizza is out of this world . And the dark chocolate dessert. Service is also excellent. <br/>Do yourself a favour and go there

The sophisticated but warm atmosphere make Burrata one of my favourite dining experinces. It is advised to book in advance. <br/> <br/>As a vegetarian, my options are limited but I can't complain because the pizza is excellent. The wine list is extensive with a great variety. For dessert I usually get the pana cotta which varies with regards to what they serve it with. Its a must try.

We were seated outside on a chilly windy Cape Town Evening and even with the heaters it wasn't very pleasant. The focaccia'a and wine was really good. At our table of 6 only one dish was tasty. Not very impressed with their Italian cuisine.

Had the rigatoni with short rib and roast pepper ragu, was quite good they also have delicious pizzas. They have a great selection of wines.
Claudio
Pizza was absolutely delicious. Truly Italian base with beautiful tomato base. Service from the manger was phenomenal not as great from the waitress. Brilliant experience nonetheless.

My oh my. This place is devine. The service is so friendly. The food. The gnocchi is light, fluffy and like eating a cloud. The pizza was traditionally an Italian pizza. Crispy base, full of flavor. I so need to go back.

My wife and I always wanted to go to Burrata as it was voted the best Italian restaurant in South Africa. We were fortunate enough to get a walk in table, which is almost unheard of. We order a pizza and pasta as we had heard that they make the best pizzas in South Africa. We weren't let down when I food arrived, the pizza was amazing and the pasta might have even been better than amazing. I can't wait to go back.

Had a serious pizza craving so followed the reviews to Burrata. Downside, you cannot add extras to your pizza and there are limited options. My highlights were the pizza dough and the wine. So good! Our waiter was friendly which always adds to the experience. The pizza I ordered didn't change my life but I would definitely go back and try other items on the menu.

We were spending our Saturday morning wandering around the Old Biscuit Mill, and after being a little tired of bumping into people in the crowded Neighborgoods Market, we decided to duck into Burrata without really knowing anything about it. I'm so happy we did, as it was lovely! <br/><br/>Their indoor seating space seemed beautiful, but we ended up sitting in the porch area which was really nice. We shared two starters - the burrata and the tuna crudo - both were really good! Very fresh and a really nice surprise. I haven't managed to make it back for a full meal, but I look forward to hopefully getting back soon! <br/><br/>The pros: Good, fresh food. Attentive service. Nice vibe. <br/><br/>The cons: Sitting outside is nice, but on a Neighborgoods Market day can get a little loud and crowded. Still nice though.

Pizzas here are fantastic, but if you order gnocchi expect it to be undercooked. Likewise if you are ordering the risotto, expect it to be extremely underwhelming in every way. Portions are tiny and overpriced. Disappointing food despite reasonable atmosphere. Service average.

A lovely cosy restaurant that's perfect for winter. The pizzas are delicious and authentic. I would recommend the slow cooked short rib pasta, it's good hearty comfort food.

A simple yet sophisticated restaurant at the old biscuit mill. It's really an experience dining at Burrata because the menu and the food is very different to what one is used to. Pizzas are made in their beloved pizza oven which are to die for; they're soft and chewy yet crisp at the same time. Also had a pasta which was super delicious. Only criticism - our waitress was a little...forward.<br/><br/>Recommend: order the white chocolate custard dessert - it will blow you away!

Quaint, comforting and classy. Burrata is not what you would expect from your average Italian restaurant - it's way better. Flavours are simple yet sophisticated and offer pockets of surprises for your palate. Service is excellent. Pizzas are unusual and extraordinary - something that cannot be described, only experienced. Prices are excellent for what is offered. Cannot wait to be back.

Wonderful and truly delicious food, friendly and knowledgeable staff and cosy yet edgy decor! The pizza and ravioli were especially good! Loved every bite and every moment!

Having worked next to Burrata since they opened I can't believe it took me this long to finally come eat here.<br/><br/>I've been to Bocca and thoroughly enjoyed it so knew it was in for a good evening.<br/><br/>We shaded a starter each between 4 people and enjoyed the different range that they have to offer, from pasta to salads each was delicious.<br/><br/>Spencer the manager made a great wine recommendation and was full of knowledge and understanding of the very interesting wine list that Neil Grant selected.<br/><br/>I will definitely be returning as I enjoyed my entire experience from the food to service and wine selectIon.<br/><br/>

If you want an INCREDIBLE duck dish you absolutely must try Burrata! It was an absolute treat! I would pair Burrata with a cold winters day and glass of red wine any day! Do it ;)

The perfect restaurant for a good Italian meal. Burrata is located in the Old Biscuit Mill In Woodstock and I visited on a busy Saturday afternoon and loved every bit of my meal. The portions are massive and you can easily share plates to sample different things. In fact one pizza or pasta is more than enough to fill you up. I'd recommend the pizza, the gnocchi and the platter of bread cheese and meats. It's like a little slice of Italy in Cape Town.

Burrata is a really great modern Italian restaurant with some great pizzas and mains on the menu. Dishes are a little small in portion size so don't be starving. The extensive wine list will blow your mind, however you will need some deep pockets as it's not the cheapest wine on earth! Corkage a little bit OTT too at R65! <br/>Pizzas really are fantastic though! <br/>Worth the visit for the taste sensation and different take on Italian cuisine.

We had possibly the best pizza we've ever had at Burrata and will definitely visit them again because the overall experience was exceptional. The service was fantastic, all our food from starters to mains and dessert were all delicious and came in good time. A wonderful place we'd highly recommend.
Brian
Fantastic evening out, very well taken care of in terms of service and menu options, wine list options definitely will ensure a repeat visit to this well run establishment.

Nice spot, good service, food is a little ordinary. Braised Beef belly was good, nice flavors and textures. Friend had a sirloin steak that was poor.

Went to Burrata for lunch. Shared a pizza and found the food delicious. The wine list was extensive and the waiter we had was knowledgable and gave us great advice. Would recommend to friends

Amazing food and wines in the wonderful biscuit mill. The wine list is really extensive, the veal sweetbread is stunning and the burrata really good. For mains, the duck is incredible, the braised beef really interesting but slightly too dry. <br/>

Went to the restaurant for the first time last night. Had a great meal. The pizzas are incredible. I had the butternut ravioli which was incredible. I also tried mussels with the squid ink pasta. Waiters are well knowledgeable

Hands down my favourite pizza in Cape Town. Great wine list as well. Cool setting.

If you like pizza and pasta, you have to make a stop here. Chewy, delicious pizza bases, super soft meat dishes and intense flavored charcuterie, really good stuff. Not to mention it's located in the Old Biscuit Mill, it's got a great vibe in an great location. You might be surrounded by hipsters if you visit on a Saturday, you've been warned :)

Burrata is a rare find in Cape Town. It has a warm and comfortable ambience with fantastic service. The risotto dish and burrata pizza were both absolutely delicious. The wine list is really special and it was lovely to try some new wines. Will definitely be back!

Difficult restaurant to rate. Wine list is outstanding but exceptionally expensive. Food is not so overpriced and is very good, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's amazing. Enjoyable, but for the total meal price tag in Cape Town you can get better.

The old biscuit mill has a great amount of charm on its own. So Burrata already has a good platform. <br/><br/>The restaurant is tastefully decorated. Beautiful bathrooms and absolutely fantastic staff, put this restaurant up there with the best that I have seen in Cape Town. <br/><br/>The menu is interesting, anything but typical. It has a great deal to offer but must be enjoyed in the way the menu was designed. <br/><br/>All round a great restaurant.

Lunch was not on my mind, but as I walked past Burrata and smelt the wood burning pizza oven, I hesitated, and my rubber arm was twisted by a waiter who assured me that their pizzas can be on the table in under 5 minutes. Good to know if you are restricted to a "lunch hour". And they were true to their word! They achieve this because of their special pizza oven, hand built by a 3rd generation family owned business in Naples, which is able to reach and sustain higher than average temperatures. Pizzas are cooked quickly and crisply. <br/>However, they don't take kindly to extras or substitutions, and I usually want a bit of this and a bit of that. Also, if you prefer a thin crust pizza, like i do, then Burrata is not for you. <br/>Word on the street is that Burrata is the best Italian restaurant in town, so I am determined to go again soon and try other menu items which had me regretting that I settled on pizza. As Arnie said, I'll be back!
