So generally when one orders food on order in (or similar delivery service) I am always disappointed, because, the food is normally just chucked into a small container, almost never get the same portions as you would in the restaurant, but you pay the same price. I have never actually eaten at Dog’s Bollocks, but ordered online twice and both times the food was amazing, I am vegetarian and I love the fact that I can still enjoy most of their menu options with a vegan patty - a vegetarian burger that actually tastes like a burger - damn good! And the packaging is sure to put a smile on you face!! Best moerse burgers!
I finally tried the newish pizza menu on Sunday and it certainly lived up to all the hype! Brilliant authentic Neapolitan thin crust in the middle, puffy and crisp on the edges with a divine tomato base interspersed with truly delectable mozzarella. A few high quality toppings and served with olives, garlic, several chili varieties, fresh rocket and basil as standard extras, this is now my top Cape Town pizza.
I totally luv this place... We wanted to ditch the traffic and stumbled onto this place by total coincidence.... We took our last cash before payday and went there with our own drinks and it was sooo worth it. Will definitely do it again! Food was amazing, staff was SUPER awesome definitely not what I expected, it's a different kinda vibe and will definitely be back again
Awesome staff, concept and food. It takes a minute to figure out what the hell. . . But worth every penny. Keep up the great work
Just popped in for the vibe and ended up staying for a pizza. The Neapolitan style margarita is my favorite. Definitely worth trying out. Waiters rock
I had the garlic pepper burger... was an insanely tasty burger...I'll rate it 11 out of 10 :)... Thanks guys..The music is my kind of style...
I love the unpretentious nature of this place! Great, simple food, chilled out staff and a laid back vibe. You won’t be disappointed
Great place! And super friendly staff. Owner was great, hung out and made us feel right at home.burger was massive! One of the best I've ever had.
Its quirky and fun. Good jazz music. Simple and delicious menu from chicken wings to burgers. Good hardy red wine too.
Wow! Absolute gem! Not pretentious at all... as real as it gets! The decor and ambience is pretty rad. Might I add... Best burgers in town, hands down We were a group of 15, and it's never easy to serve a big group (especially ours). Holly (waitress)... 10/10 for personality and service! She easily convinced us to get Mexican assholes for the group
What an amazing gastronomic experience. Awesome burgers. I love this place with it's corny wine glasses and order-confirmation shout....a really kewl spot to hang out. Will definitely be back to try out the breakfast.
“The best pizza outside of Italy” - Piero Moschetta
“Excellent. Great service from Sanja.” - Dimitries Kazantzides
“Beste diens! Anja is alles!!”
It is what it says on the tin: This place is The Dog's Bollocks; atmosphere, food, beer, value for money all first class
Excellent place. My word... It's a must go to, the breakfast is huge and tasteful
Had an amazing night bollocking the night away, thanks to Gabby for making us so welcome, and the guys doing the business at the hot plate, you were great.
Exceptional food, friendly staff, feeling of comfort like being with family, and great food (Oh I think I said that already!) All round lovely experience and definitely coming back!!

Great., friendly waitress and awesome pizza and burgers. We loved it xx
Hidden burger and pizza gem
Yesterday a friend and I got to do lunch in a unique little eatery in Gardens, Cape Town. The name of the eatery is The Yard but was at one point called "The Dogs Bollocks" somewhat crass, but very reminiscent of its British roots.
The eatery is tucked away down a little one-way side street, but don't be fooled it is well known, and I was blown away by the number of overseas visitors who Ubered in while we were at the restaurant. The Yard itself is basic, rustic and with a vintage twist. From the bathtubs filled with plants to the "olde" style lampshades strung up everywhere it really is a relaxed environment.
This restaurant is renown for it's very large and delicious hamburgers ( the lighter version, "The Puppy's Nuts", but they also offer great chicken wings (such as "Smack My As & Call Me Sally), tacos and a huge selection of cocktails. So be warned it is best to come hungry because a large appetite is a prerequisite.
The kitchen is open concept kitchen and on arrival, you write your name on the chalkboard wall. When your food is ready your name will be shouted and you can collect it from the kitchen counter, where you can see your edible work of art being assembled.
Now if you aren't already tickled pink (or horrified and prudish), there are a few other indelicate but rather quaint touches. Need the bathroom ... erhm you might need to keep an eye out for the "Brick Shithouse". And if you are looking for a mirror, expect to find a little motivation instead ...
Back to the food. As many of you know I now follow a keto lifestyle and have managed to put my Fibromyalgia in remission (for lack of a better word). So when eating out the first thing I do is look for keto/lchf options or ways that I can adapt standard food items to suit my lifestyle. Because let's face it, not everyone caters to us "special" people. Hopefully, that will change with Autoimmune disease on the rise.
My friend chose to create his own burger with a grilled chicken patty (you can also choose from beef, or crumbed chicken patty) and nacho cheese sauce.
While I adapted my choice to a lettuce cup instead of a bun. My burger choice was the creamy blue pepper (a light and creamy blue cheese and peppadew sauce) burger with a beef patty and bacon as an "extra". I opted for a salad as a side instead of fries.
The venue truly is lovely and the food is delicious, our bill came to approx R400 for the two of us, making it affordable and good value for money. I will definitely be going back!
The waitresses have a unique and raw way of service that is actually very effective. Burgers are massive but absolutely delicious, great gluten free options too!
Wonderful evening. Great vibe in the restaurant with friendly service. Food was also fantastic with a variety of options. Very unique restaurant.

The Yard is an interesting but great place, definitely a hidden gem. With three different "restaurants" to choose from, we had an amazing NY style pizza, as well as neapolitan style pizza.
The Giant Pepperoni was a hit IMO and brought back memories of when I was in New York eating pizza in Brooklyn.
This place is every thing .
Bubbly , bohemian , loud , rude , edgy and full of joy.
Decor with anarchist touch .
The burgers , orgasmic . Best in Cape Town .
The service is the best thing and thats simply because they don’t serve you much , they just explain what they can offer you and you move your butt and serve yourself and that’s just makes you feel like you are in the backyard of your friend’s house .
The cheerful spirit of the space is the waitress with the serotonin tattoo , her human presence glues this artistic place .
A must visit .
You can normally rate a pizza place on their margarita, this one cracks the nod. It’s f*cking perfect. They make a delicious Bloedlemoen G&T and the service is great. Non pretentious, on the ball. The decor and quirky quotes add some flavour to the whole experience.
Uhm how have I been sleeping on this place? Decided to stay in on a Friday night and OrderIn a cheese burger with fries, binge watching soppy Hallmark movies.
Wow these burgers are just rude! Huge and insanely tasty. So big, you could easily share it amongst two people (I actually saved half for the next day). The beef is gorgeous, flame grilled to perfection. The burger has just the right amount of condiment and trimmings on it.
This may actually be the best burger I’ve had in Cape Town! So good!
Update: even the pizzas are amazing!
I heard of this not-so conventional eatery around 5 years ago. And finally, FINALLY, I can tick The Dog’s Bollocks off my list. And my, what an experience it was!
Our first interaction was with our waitress, an over-the-top, larger than life woman who greeted us with ‘whazzup motherfuckers!’ To say it was original would be an understatement. From that first moment I realised this place is different to any other burger bar I’ve been to before.
The dining experience is very laid-back, super informal, loud and awesome. We had a few beers while we waited for our burgers. Now, I can’t stress this enough, go hungry, famished, ravenous, all together. Their burgers are huge. No really, HUGE. I ate half of my burger and chips and it still looked bigger than what you would normally get served in a restaurant.
I had the beef burger with caramelised onions and a tasty basting sauce and cheese. The onions were divine, the patty tasty and the burger bun was yummy (I don’t know what they do to it, but it was the bomb diggity). All in all, it was a delicious meal and a really fun, unexpected evening.
(The pizzas are apparently also good.)
Next time, however, I’ll opt to share a burger with someone. It was far too much food and the takeaway doesn’t taste as great the next day (which is totally normal. It’s a burger; it’s not meant to be eaten in two sittings).
The Dog’s Bollocks is all about not keeping up with the status-quo, insanely big burgers, and of course, not giving a f*ck. A must-visit for all burger-lovers.
OH MY GOODNESS!!! The burgers are to die for, they are huge and enough to last a hunger strike. What I love about them it’s that they are refreshing and they taste like homemade burgers that are freshly made. The ambiance is chilled and vibey. I’d like everyone to try out this place...
Back at Dog’s Bollocks for drinks and dinner with some friends! The atmosphere is epic! Loud and vibey, most people had burgers and thoroughly enjoyed them the rest had pizzas and no complaints from them! Can’t recommend this place enough!
The Dogs Bollocks is definitely a restaurant I recommend one to visit! It has a quirky, fun and energetic vibe, it is definitely a hidden gem! The menu is not extremely big however have good variety and you are guaranteed to enjoy something they have to offer. The food itself is delicious and hearty! This restaurant is cool and lovable, and so are the people.
We recently had the opportunity to visit the dogs bollocks. The milkshakes were great, the vibe relaxed and the burgers worth every cent. Can't wait to go back!
Great experience! I'd heard good things about this spot but wasn't quite sure what to expect or whether or not I'd enjoy it...
Little did I know!
We got the friendly-rude waitress (winning in my opinion?) and the food was great!
Even though we arrived quite late, there was room for us to sit without it being too empty (the vibe was still going strong & it had a warm feel)
If I had to be really picky and critique one part of my experience the fries didn't quite make it to the standard of the rest of the experience.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my meal & the service was excellent 🌼👌🏼
Would recommend to mates 10/10
Love the new pizza menu! The condiments that are served with the pizza are generous and add to the experience. Friendly service and nice spot to sit.
Honestly I rate service before food and the service here is incredible . The food is also amazing I'm in love with the Blue cheese burger and the American burger 🍔 😍... Also the idea of being able to bring your own drinks is fun and inviting . The vibe is just great ☺️🎉.
Lovely atmosphere, not for children or the faint hearted. Food is great massive portions, 4 people shared the new york pizza. Only thing they can improve on is the cocktails not that great all taste the same
An absolutely interesting experience. The place looks like everything I've seen in American movies, very different from the South African experience. Lovely service except they are very loud. The burgers are delicious, very saucy, raw sauce (get it?). One of the best burgers I've had in Cape Town, very large and worth the money. Definitely a place to check out
I really like this place, what you see is what you get and what you get is some bad ass wings. The chicken wings was really tasty and had a good bite to it. The staff is a little weird, like seen 5 to many festivals. But hey, each his own.
Burgers as big as your face!
It took me way to long to visit the dogs bollocks for a burger, but I went to to the bitches tits for tacos and amazing sarmies often,
It is loud and fast and really appeals to my sense of humour. Perfect to go for a drink and burger to unwind after a long shit day.
I've seen many mixed reviews about the quality of the burgers, but I have to say mine was AMAZING! At first I was intimidated... How the hell do you eat a burger that is quite literally as big as you face? But once you get into it you forget that there are other people around you who may be watching you, but are probably eating their own burger just as badly, and just enjoy it.
I had the jalapeño cheese burger and my boyfriend had the chilli con Carne burger. Both were very tasty, and the amount of heat from the jalapeños was perfect.
Service is super casual and very friendly.
I literally couldn't and didn't want to even put the huuuuuge burger down while eating the thing just Incase some got away 😂😂 I was in burger nirvana!! Such a rad little chilled spot ... epic friendly and intelligent staff always making the visit that much better.. love
Supersize good burgers. Crispy fries. Good selection of drinks. I like the self service way of ordering and all the concept around that restaurant
Brilliant place, the people are amazing and so friendly. We will drive all the way there again from the Helderberg. Breakfast was huge and affordable. It's a must go to place. So vibey
After paying a visit to the Bitch's Tits for lunch and raving about that in a previous review Capetowngirl suggested that the real winner was coming for dinner. The Dog's Bullocks as it so appropriately named after it's day time sister doesn't disappoint.
Firstly - you come here for the people and the atmosphere they create. Personally I thrive of heavy lashings of sarcasm, cynicism and dark humor ...this place tickles all those places. I fell in love with Cape Town for its quirky charm and it's people, this place is a good example of one of those bespoke "only in Cape Town" places.
Warning - they don't care what you think so just enjoy all the puns, lewd humor and vulgarities that the restaurant walls and staff provide. Trying to out humor the staff is one of my favorite things to do now.
On to the main event - the food. I had no idea what to order burger wise but I was told a slider of sorts would arrive along with the Asian flavored wings (minus the fresh coriander because if it's not in a curry I just don't appreciate the taste). What arrived was a burger the size of my head. My gosh here I thought slider meant something small. First off I'm impressed that a bun this big is soft, I've had big burgers before and usually they fall flat with the bun, secondly on the juiciness of the patty. The beef patty on my burger was incredibly juicy and tasted great. The combination of onion, cheese, lettuce tomato and pickles provided a simple oversized burger prepared to a top not standard. My chips were delightfully crispy and dipped in the blue cheese dressing that the wings came with I couldn't have asked for a better burger. The wings did lack a bit in the juiciness department with the Asian flavoring was tasty. I ended the evening sharing a chocolate brownie.
Went to The Dogs Bollocks and the chicken wings (Asian sesame sauce- this sauce was finger licking good )and The Mexican Chilli Burger ( my friends had the Jalapeño Cheese & New Yorker ) such an amazing vibe and had the best waitress Sanja who explained the menu perfectly. As someone who feels like I am an expert level burger eater I felt half defeated by the HUGE burger which was amazing in taste. I will definitely go there again
so I’ve heard a lot about this atypic place and was impatient to go see it for my self… Located in GARDENS …during the day the place is called the Bitches Tits and serves a good range of breakfast and lunch dishes that i heard are quite tasty , But if I’m here its for the dinner action ! by 5pm The place is called The Dogs Bollocks and they are serving Cape towns finest Burgers !they are making a definite number of 60 burgers a night, so better get there early if you don’t wanna miss out , this is totally different atmosphere than anywhere else , as much for the decor or service .
Interesting concept. The staff is trained to be fun and quirky , just like the restaurant's name . The burgers and the chips are good, definitely not Mac Donald style. There are better option in town though, but you go there for a drink and some laugh. The big common tables are bit annoying if you are not a "people" person.
I pride myself in finding the perfect burger. To date this is one of the best I've had. Couple that with the quirky ambiance of the restaurant and the friendliest staff you could meet and you have the perfect evening. Went back the following morning for breakfast only to be welcomed like old friends. Cannot recommend this enough.
I really enjoyed my experience here. The restaurant itself is a little small and the menu is limited but if you're in the mood for great burgers that is exactly what you'll get. The burgers are super tasty and the ordering system is quite fun. They only make a certain amount of burgers per night, so make sure you get their early. The service was great as the waitress was really friendly and interactive.
Unlike anything I have ever experienced in the most wonderfully unique and flamboyant way.
Burgers are man-sized and gastronomical. Go. Everybody go.
Great soulfood and real down to earth vibe. Good vlue for money. Huge scrumptious portions. A definite bucket list experience. I for one will definitely be returning soon...and often.
The best breakfast in town in my opinion, Wet fries, oven baked in the same bowl as in the photo with chilli ,egg, bacon and beans! Always a winner!
The Dog's Bollocks only do burgers in one size: ginormous. Not that you'll be complaining - their burgers are so good you'll never want them to end. The laid-back atmosphere and the simple set up makes the Dog' Bollocks such a great spot to grab a bit to eat.
A top spot for a big eat. They have very friendly wait staff, who quickly know you by name and make you feel at home. Good quality food, from people who care about the experience.
Our friends from Cape Town recommended this little alley restaurant to us. It has a great, laid-back vibe. I was a little disappointed to see that they removed the nachos from their menu and now only served burgers. Massive burgers! Way too much for a lot of people, including myself, so another (even just 1) menu option would have been great. The patties are not that great- it lacks flavour and texture. I like the idea of this place, but in this case I would have preferred quality over quantity. It is quite expensive, but a good experience overall.
This is the perfect little grunge burger bar. If you haven't been to this place you are missing out. No frills, no fuss, no cutlery. Dont expect anything fancy, you are going to get messy. Try the New Yorker it will blow your mind. 3B is also pretty damn amazing.
Beers and taco's = happiness. Friendly vibe, serve yourself, no frills or fuss. One of my favourite lunch spots, but also great to pop in for a coffee or two.

By day The Dog's Bullocks becomes The Witches Tits. Think breakfast served until 4pm, hot dogs smothered in cheese and jalapenos, spicy prego rolls and whacky, fusion Asian crispy tacos. My most recent meal was a beef prego baguette. Yum! It was hot and hot. Just what I needed to kick my lunchtime blues. Staff are always super excited to see you whether they know you or not. Just remember to write your name on the blackboard once you've ordered so that it can be yelled out once your meal is ready. No frills or fuss here. Thrift store decor is quirky yet simple; the only kitch thing being the tassled lampshades which add loads of character. That's what this place has loads of: character.
Yes, please and thank you. This is by far the best wings I have ever eaten, tasty to the bone. Can't wait to try their gigantic burgers. Great little space and priced fairly.
Service is abit weird, afrikaburn hippies but who cares, best wings!!!!
Cool place, decent burgers, a great house brew, good for groups or just two lost lovers wandering the streets in search of something a bit different.
One of Cape Town's secret surprises. With slightly (very) second hand garden furniture for seating, no cutlery and wine in a cardboard tube, this place has its own sense of style. Since its opening a couple of years ago, it's transformed from a hole-in-the-wall to quite an establishment with a loyal following and an enviable reputation. The owner's initial goal of making 40 (?) handcrafted sauce-dripping-to-your-elbows burgers per night and when it's sold out, it's sold out (which on a good night happened just after 18h30) captured the creative set's attention. At first the restaurant by late afternoon turned into his car driveway late at night (he lived in a room at the back) but it seems that even this Cinderella story has become a commercial practility with profits. Who needs fairy tales when you can eat real awesome food though?
Amazzzzzing experience!!! And that's the thing: it is an experience! Yes the burgers are mouth-watering, yes the "yard" court is cool and ranchy, but the experience is in the place! I will be taking my dad to try it tomorrow night if I can and try snag a good photo of this bursting burger!😋
Dynamite!
Wonderfully surprised by this hidden treasure. Massive burgers and fantastic vibes. Definitely needs some heaters on these cold winter nights. Also, take your own knife and fork.

Used to love coming here when it wasn't so commercial and you brought your own cutlery/drinks/etc. feel as though the burgers have declined in size but otherwise still yummy!
So far, still my Favorite burger spot! Love it! Love the space you are in, the tables and chairs you sit on, takes me back to my childhood, and the burgers never disappoint! Massive, juicy, yummy burgers.
Great vibe, tasty food and one hell of a fun place to eat! The energy here is electric and always a pleasure! The dark alley way restaurant that could :)
Burgers as big as your head (I'm not exaggerating) AND their tasty. Pair this with a very easy-drinking house craft beer, swift and friendly service, good music, and a chilled factory vibe (you fetch your own orders from the counter).
I'm a fan. Will be back and bring friends - vegetarians too.
It can get a little pricy but if you order smart, share a portion and opt for Black Label instead you can actually get away cheap.
Had a great experience.
The staff were super welcoming and friendly. They were attentive and helpful but not crowding or hovering.
The atmosphere is lively, energetic and young. It feels like a small community.
The burgers were big, juicy and flavour packed. The patties were fresh and incredibly good.
They accept card payments now and not only cash which is great.
Only negatives: No salt and pepper on our table and I couldn't order a Bloody Mary. 😐🍅
Love this hidden away gem that looks like it used to be a walk though between buildings. Great burgers will definitely return. The decor is fun, nothing really fitting together yet it works in harmony
This place is such a unique, hidden restaurant with a rock n roll edge. It's set up in an old garage, therefore rustic does not sufficiently describe it. The set up is very different in that you order your burgers by going to the till to pay then writing your name on a chalkboard. Thereafter they shout your order name which is all part of the experience. The rock n roll music and ladies singing along creates a comfortable atmosphere where all judgment is left at the door. The burgers are double the size of normal burgers I've had elsewhere and the flavours are great! I would place this in my list of best burgers for sure because the experience and great taste of the burgers make it a worthwhile place worth trying.
Been craving a burger all week and thought I'd give The Dogs Bollocks a go. Cool place ,very vibey and great service. The burgers are huge ,I had the 3B burger ,I've had better burgers in time but definitely worth a visit.
We went to The Dog's Bollocks for a work lunch, all having a good laugh at telling people where we were going.
The set up is quirky, with a few big tables in an alley-like environment. The menu is simply: all-day breakfasts, tacos, and rolls. I opted for a vegetarian lunch (Mexican taco was given beans and the Asian taco got mushrooms) and I shared a jalapeño wet fries (wet fries = cheese drenched).
I was underwhelmed by the tacos unfortunately, and my experience was further dampened by our order being confused. We were a table of 14, so that definitely contributed, but an order was wrong and two chip bowls had to be requested again. There is some sort of construction happening at present so that also caused a bit of disruption and it was hot in there, despite the fans (in their defense, it was a very hot day).
The chips were amazing though and the environment was fun and great for something a little different.
I saw that this place was part of the best 5 burger joints and I decided to go and try it out, I was not disappointed. The burgers were nice and juicy, hard to handle and hard to finish. I will go back and try out other things on their menu but absolutely happy with what I have tried with my Gemini.
Wow. Just wow. By far the biggest burger I've devoured so far.
I'm going to start with the negatives, no real dessert (except for the chocolate brownie for R16 rand, I've definitely had better) and also, just like IYO and dropkick Murphys, they don't offer gourmet milkshakes, as is the trend.
These downsides are easily overshadowed by the enormous and incredibly tasty burgers they have on offer, my recommendation is the new yorker, it was a nice spicy, and full of flavour.
No knife or forks, just get down and dirty, no real "vibe" just a very, almost genuine atmosphere. Can't really explain, but don't come here for anything fancy, bring a troop of friends for breakfast, lunch or supper, and enjoy the craft beer on selection.
A quick after work before we face the traffic home burger and bottle of wine! The ambience in this retaurant is amazing, very chilled and vibey. The Jalepeno burger is litterally covered in chilli's, not for the feint hearted, but awesome nonetheless. Well worth a visist, if you can get a table!
Best burger I have ever eaten. Portion size was MASSIVE and the taste could compete with the size of the burger.
Its a pity that you cant make bookings, as this would make us go back every week. Its first come, first server policy so make sure you get there early just to get a seat. One thing is for certain, you wont regret it. Just talking about it, makes me want more :)
Staff are friendly and very polite, venue is small and you would not know its there if you drove past in a rush. Guess the good part is that its mostly for locals and it's definitely a hidden gem
I write this review as I sit in front of the sauce that was once my burger. Wow. Quite simply, this is the best burger I've ever had. The burgers are big and messy, yet fun to eat.
The dedicated server does the serving and ordering of food, which is part of the rustic, raw experience.
If you're a foodie, hipster, or a burgerholic, you need to come here. 100%.
Great experience at The dogs bollocks, it's not your ordinary restaurant vibe. Setup is different, I like the old school feel. I had the 3B burger, the burger was huge and delicious. I will definitely return in future. Thanks 👌
Checked out this niche neighbourhood eatery for lunch today and was delighted by the ambience and creativity of this place. The food is delicious with a mix and match of 4 different taco flavour options which I enjoyed. Both veggie & vegan friendly place. Bonus!!!
Wanted to see for myself what all the fuss was about..was smiling from the moment I entered. The most fun waitresses/ barman ladies. Was caught totally off guard by their names as well as that of their burger. Would recommend this as on of my top 5 burger joints. Pure honest burgers, in a garage setting with an urban New York feel. Winning! A must visit, come hungry and bring your friends!!
Such a fun an interesting place, a teeny space in an alleyway that offers basic decor and a garage type feel.
Staff are warm, a little crude but up for a laugh. One person at the table is nominated as the bitch and has to place the orders and collect the food.
The burgers are ginormous but amazing!
Tip: share a burger, join in and have fun.
Warning: do not visit if you like 5* service, classy environments and aren't up for new experiences!
Awesome fabulous place, funky different vibe, waitresses are super friendly and crazy. I recommend the burgers, I had the jealopeano cheese chicken burger, was so huge that I could only eat half........ Every dish is under R95! Visit this place with no expectations.!
I can't believe I haven't tried this place before! I had an amazing meal here and the vibe and atmosphere is so awesome and something so different! Our waitress was so friendly and really made us feel welcome! It is a very different restaurant with some trendy and unique decor. When you arrive you write your name with chalk and a board and then when your order is ready they call out your name to fetch your food- it gives the place a lot of character hearing orders being shouted out. The burgers were so delicious and fresh and were really big! I had the 3B chicken burger which was divine. Overall we had such an awesome experience here and we will definitely be back!
Huge hamburgers, really, when I say huge is something incredibly big. I have chosen the Old School with onions and was a perfect choice for a Saturday evening, paring with their awesome brewed beer (strong ale). Rock environment with a great selection of musics playing. I will definitely come back again.
I would love to rate this place higher, as it's been one of my favourite Cape Town spots for a while now. The vibe is still completely unique and trendy, and it's the perfect spot for a craft beer and social gathering with mates. The hidden away location and raw feel of the place makes you feel extra cool for knowing about its existence. The whole feel of the Yard is unapologetic- as soon as some of the ingredients are done, they stop serving, which is quite cool. However, I was a little disappointed with the food recently, when we ordered some chicken wings. They were closing for the night, so the average meal was kind of understandable. Nevertheless, I've really had better food. BUT I've had some delicious meals here before, and nothing beats the atmosphere, so for that reason I will be returning and will continue telling people about this cool little restaurant.
I have been wanting to come here for a while as I had heard a lot about this place. And I certainly wasn't let down, the social aspect and the vibe of the place is great. Very 'hippie' and chilled, orders being shouted across the room, wine being served in cups all just lead to a fun social experience. The food and wine really wasn't great, but we didn't do there for that and we had an enjoyable time at this local hangout- something different. Trinka Mynhardt
The yummiest food I've had in a very long time. Major props for having low carb options. Definitely my new favourite place to visit in CT. Service was also phenomenal.
Ok, so maybe this isn’t really a milkshake place but I’ve had the famous Kelis song stuck in my head the last few days and that line of ‘my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard’ just won’t disappear from my thoughts. Naturally, I associated the song with Yard, which is also known as Mucky Mary’s, The Bitch’s Tits, and The Dog’s Bollocks. Confused? Don’t be, I’ve had it all explained to me, and basically Yard is the collective term of the place that features Mucky Mary’s for breakfast, The Bitch’s Tits for lunch, and The Dog’s Bollocks for dinner. Add in Deluxe Coffeeworks and, voila, you have the full house of what comprises Yard. In a nutshell: It’s an awesome place to eat, drink, and be merry. Since I’m talking about the burgers at The Dog’s Bollocks I should perhaps rename this review, but, hey, I’m liking the milkshake-yard association.
I don’t get it: why does anyone need a burger THAT big? For me, value for money comes with flavour and quality of produce, and The Dog’s Bollocks doesn’t deliver on at least one of those. It’s good – don’t get me wrong – but it certainly isn’t great. And the size doesn’t compensate for that. Nice location though – but perhaps your time would be better spent at Deluxe Coffeeworks, also on the premises.
@yard_ct is an icon. Literally in owner Nigel's driveway(!), ONLY 50 HUGE burgers made daily! Snack menu incl nachos/DELISH Sesame Wings. Owner Megan a passionate/fun hostess who made me feel super welcome and valued on a very sad day for me...LOVED it! DEF @jamescapetown FAVE! 😳👏🌍😘🌴💜
Finally visited the very popular and talked about Dog's Bollocks! Oh and did we have fun. This very unconventional restaurant serves Odd bin wine, beer and soda and has a DIY ordering system where they call your name to fetch your "grub". The "grub", oversize delicious burgers! A fun evening all round.
People rave about the vibe, and rightly so. People rave about the burgers, and I just don't see (or taste) it. For one, the chalkboard menu has cute names, but not always descriptive. For two, buried underneath the mass of toppings I found a fairly mundane beef patty. I'd go back with friends, but it's not a top-five burger in Cape Town.
Love this place. Awesome overload. Will be having the rest of the menu when we come next. Oh, and another few liters of the Dog's Bollocks.
The craziest burger I've ever eaten - definitely the biggest, and probably the most delicious! This is such a funky place, and a unique dining experience. A proper Cape Town hipster joint. The burgers are huuuge and juicy and the good kind of greasy and just plain yummy! I had the 3B (cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce) and can definitely recommend it! The homemade brew is also great and the general vibe is casual and fun. Be prepared to wait a while for you burger but it's definitely worth it!
The Dog's Bollocks has changed the burger game. Real good hearty big eating. What an absolute delight. I had the jalapeño cheese burger with bacon which was as huge as my face but I ate every piece. Their chips are so delicious I don't know what they do but they need to keep doing it. Get down there after 5pm and you won't regret it.
If you are looking for adventure, this is the place to visit. Everything from the sassy servers, the rustic garage and most importantly the beer and burgers makes you feel like you have fallen into a wonderland. For first dates, foreigners and for a sneaky lunch escape, you will not have more fun than here. The team is innovative and it comes across in the roller-coaster of fun that your palate experiences.
Feels like home, except the food's better.
Rad vibe, the whole road is a quaint beauty, burgers are amazing (and huge) and beers are waiting.
We absolutely adore this place and keep coming back! The staff are such vibrates individuals who always makes you feel extra welcome. Absolutely phenomenal staff!!! The Wings are our number one order. We love HOT wings and let me say they NEVER fail us with their food options. Also their margaritas are THEEE BEST!!! The best part is that they are dog friendly and our little Puggy loves it their. Keep up the extraordinary work everyone!!!!
Really enjoyed our lunch experience at the Yard. We like the way you need to write your name on a blackboard and if your order is ready they shout your name to come and fetch it. The burgers are amazing. The pizza was okay, but will defnitely go with the burgers instead next time.
Amazing amazing experience, Dani was such an amazing waitress, such an enjoying vibe from her and the atmosphere, so funny and witty.
The food was incredible too, definitely worth the price and the cocktail I had was amazing, 10/10 on everything and you definitely need to check this place out!
Had an amazing time here, great food and vibe, we had the Old School Mega Slider and the New Yorker, with garlic bread to start, and it was all delicious!
Went with friends and had such a fabulous time. Service was awesome. The burgers were spectacular, although u are paying a pretty penny... at the moment R175 for a burger meal. Yes, the burgers are massive, but I feel the buns weren't the best quality (maybe a good brioche bun would work) and perhaps more chippies. I know the burger will get you full, but I still can't really understand the price. Overall, was lots of fun!!
Unique place, with Unique people with great quality food full of amazing flavors with 🍕huge pizza's and burgers as big as your face.
Drinks on tap.
Go and enjoy the fun experience 😉
What a little gem hidden between industrial buildings. Would've never thought to find a restaurant there. Get ready when you go there to go hungry. The burgers are massive and so delicious. Mango freezo is the best, expecially in this heat. The espresso milkshake is also a winner.
This place is lots of fun. Atmosphere for days! The staff match the decor, fun and a bit sassy. Even the bathrooms have character. Will definitely come back and bring friends.
Leave your negative vibes at the front door. This place is great with tasty food and large portions accompanied by attentive staff. My only issue (which I won't reduct a star for), is that the chicken on my pizza did dry out whilst in the oven and became pretty tough to chew - it didn't stop me eating it though 👀. Nevertheless, I'll be sure to return to try one of their burgers 🤙
Not quite the fowl language I was expecting. It was watered down a lot compared to the novelty I heard from friends. Suppose we'll blame it on the quiet, cold, rainy week day. Waitress was prompt. Food was served super fast. Burgers are ginormously delicious. I'd consider this a once off visit.
Amazing food and great experience shoutout to Amy making us feel welcome 👌
What an amazing experience, the waiteress was a professional in her field unlike anything I've ever seen. She ran the entire restaurant with such precision and her no nonsense attitude was fun, friendly, and in charge. Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing setting and atmosphere... Just AMAZING!
Great place to eat and have a good time
What an absolute laugh!!! A friend and I went for dinner and cocktails. This was the first time I went and it was glorious. Debbie our host was a gem...funny and loads of personality. Having your name screamed out loud to come and fetch your food...is a new one for me. The pizza was delicious and the burgers are the size of dinner plates. Fred Flintstone would be satisfied with a burger like that...they even provided a bread knife to help cut the dino burger. It also tasted amazing. The cocktails were delish, but be careful of the coffee...it is powerful. The atmosphere was fantastic...it was truly a great night out. I would however caution anybody who might be a bit sensitive...this might not be the place for you.
Always a laugh when going here, had something different not too long ago. Basically a pizza turned into a sandwich is the best way to describe it and it was great. Waitress was hilarious with her care free attitude, it’s cranked up a notch here and is very entertaining. Overall Lekker experience.
We celebrated my daughter's 22nd name day on Saturday gone past, I was so so really happy about this recommendation materializing.
What a gorgeous vibe inside this place & the service was 'different' & really really cool.
Go to this joint with an open mind & you will love it, the pizza & burgers were on another level for me - a little pricey but well worth it in the end.
Amy you rock, I will be back!
Went for a work function...Had the jalapeño and cheese burger, was soft and juicy.
Parking however was a challenge as there is no parking in the immediate vicinity.
Warning they have no filter! So snowflakes and those who are easily offended beware.
