Review New York Bagels - Cape Town Central

Sven Tietz
A Sunday morning must. The vibe is great with a definite community feel. Feels like everyone is here picking up breakfast bagels and a cup of coffee before getting their day started. The bagels are super tasty and the service is friendly and fast. Awesome bagel shop (in that sense, ‘New York’, yes) but with and African flair 😉😎👍

Hands down the best bagel spot in all of Cape Town! The extensive array of bagel choices is mind-boggling – from the NYB Classic „the Reuben“ and one with salmon and scrambled eggs. Each one was exceptionally delicious. Also the cheesecake is super delicious! The prices are very reasonable too. We'll definitely be coming back!"

I had heard about the interesting food stores opening in District Six and decided it was time for a visit. An exciting exploration followed, from Charlie’s bakery which is hard enough to resist and the wonderful aromas that wafted out of the Lebanese Bakery. On to the New York Bagel which was really my goal. I had the most delicious fresh Bagel filled with Smoked Salmon Trout, Red onion, Cream cheese and tomato. I had to squeeze in a slice of the Cheese cake which was absolutely delicious.
Paul Jacobs
Loved my morning visit to this hole-in-the-wall in Harrington Street. The Deluxe coffee was great, and I might have started an addiction to their pretzel bagel. Quick, Simple, no-Fuss grab & go
Mugisha Hakizimana
Had a bagel dog warmed and orange juice. Orange juice was really good. Enjoyed the bagel dog but I felt I would have liked it more with a sauce. Great assortment of bagels and lovely cosy restaurant. Amazing bagels here!
Majed AlEnezy
I had a delicious bagel with eggs and cheddar cheese. I highly recommend this place for a quick bite. Although the chairs are slightly uncomfortable, the cashier's friendliness and kindness made up for it.
Jagvir Kullar
10/10 bagel shop! Delicious bagel breakfast/brunch sandwiches. Good variety and great price for value. Easily one of the best bagels I’ve had. Pictured is egg and bacon on an onion flake bagel.
Sizwe Majola
Best spot in Cape Town, statement. Beautiful and professional staff, especially the lady with the Lipstick. I love NEW YORK BAGELS.
Giovanni
What a deliciously delightful Cafe! Most friendly cashier and staff. Full of smiles. Lovely baked goods to look at and the sourdough sandwich was the best ever! The latte and hut chocolate was to die for!
Anna Balashenko
Nice place with bagels. They have sandwiches, cheese cakes, pastry, bagels. Very quick service. Possible to sit inside/outside. The food was okay
Anne Engelbrecht
Great bagels, coffee and friendly people - what more can you ask for?! The Saturday breakfast option worth considering too - scrambled egg & smoked salmon trout on a bagel.
Ben McCabe
Super friendly staff , love the decor , it's right down the road from me , so this place will become a regular breakfast stop for me on my way to work . Love the coffee as well. And the scrambled egg with salmon trout bagel is a winner!!!!
Anjé du Pisani
Little gem of a place! Great vibe and friendly staff. A must visit when you are around!
Cheryl Sadie
Super friendly and great service even during the morning rush hour special. Coffee and a cream cheese bagel...I crave it! Thank you to ALL the staff for making every experience a happy one.
Oliver Boyers
I eat here about 4 times a week. It never gets old. Simply the best bagels in SA hands down.
Jean-Pierre Pinard
Not once have I been disappointed by New York Bagels. I definitely have not been there as much as I would like :), but this place has amazing food!!
Jeremy Kornblum
If you can find a better bagel in Cape Town I will pay for it. the croissant is amazing. Having learned how to judge a croissant in Brussels, Paris and Venice, I challenge you to find a better locally made croissant in Cape Town. Again, I will pay for it.
Bryan Swanson
Great breakfasts, vibe and attitude. The burger bagel is next level too if you want some thing really great! Enjoy
Diana Sidorevich
The best dedicated bagel place in Cape Town. If I lived closer, I would go every day.
Tanya Gomes
Absolutely love this place. Found it on google maps while I was walking around exploring the city. Staff is incredibly friendly and so nice! Everything is freshly made and super tasty 😋
Odwa Plaatjie
best service ever. keep your staff, they know customer service.
Ryan Richard George Jonathan
Love it! Best BAGELS ever! Would recommend it to anyone looking for a good bagel!
Theuns Opperman
Best bagels, awesome coffee. Don't bother with the cheesecake.
Danielle Dilworth
I'm from the states do I know what a "New York Bagel" is suppose to taste like. I started slow, so a plain toasted bagel with plain cream cheese was my first order. It tasted very authentic & almost identical to a New York bagel. They were also extremely nice, great customer service, which is rare here & in New York lol
Heather Williams
Super friendly staff, great food, awesome prices
Bev Bloch
Great hot beef on rye, as always! And a first for the fish cake on rye and that was also a 10👍
Kevin Smith
Staff are very friendly.... good coffee....good food...prices are so reasonable! I keep going back.....
Matshidiso Molelekoa
I love their bagels, different flavours n tasty. Super friendly staff. You dont even wait long for your order. Impressive!
Louis Ackermann
Just no. The bagels you buy at Spar bare a closer resemblance to true New York bagels. These bagels are heavy and chewy and just not good. If you have never had a real bagel in your life then by all means, go enjoy the over priced offerings and celebrate mediocrity. But if you have, order anything else on the menu. Coffee wasn’t bad.
Kareemah Rawoot
Tiny coffee, over priced menu. Bagels and pastries are tasty, but not out of this world.
Bronwen Davies
An absolute gem
Lauren Redding
Quick Delicious Bite To Eat😋🥯☕
Vincent Bezuidenhout
the TRUTH is that New York Bagel is simply better! Great coffee and the bagels and filling delicious! Well worth a visit when in the area!
Leah
The bagels were on point. Had the cream cheese and the salmon trout bagels on sesame seed bagel. Also had freshly squeezed orange juice. Will come back when in this neighborhood.
Graeme McLeod Budge
My regular morning lifesaver ♡ Amazing coffee, good background beats, friendly staff, lekker daily specials, deliscious freshly made food. So much love
Naseema
My first New York Bagel experience. Wow
absolutely delicious. Had the salmon and cream for me PLUS white sesame seed bagels and pan au chocolait for the family. Absolutely fantastic service 👏
Lenita Johan
Those cruffins are to die for!! Coffee is great!! Good place to grab a quick bite!! We did try the bagels but more than that we prefer the cruffins!! Highly recommended. Seating is limited, and those cruffins do get sold out!!
Andrew Raeburn
Love this place! Friendly service great bagels and coffee. Today was unfortunately a big miss. The food order for a take away went missing. Mistakes happen, but then the same order got lost again between the front of house and the kitchen. Already paid the bill but had to leave with no food or drinks. Hope to return for a credit!
Louise Perold
Arguably the best bagels in the world... consistently absolutely delicious and that goes for all fillings and all bagel types. If you are a fan of the bagel you need to come here. (Ps this is lunch for me religiously every Wednesday ... I have to restrict myself to that)
Yajna Gold
I walked in a little bit peckish after just having eaten and I was greeted by the man behind the counter as if we were old friends and one of his patrons (who seem to adore the place) I was already taken with it (because let’s face it service these days is nonexistent in most establishments) both of them recommended to me that I try the famous chocolate cheesecake if I am not in the mood for another meal and to my utter delight when I got home and snacked on it it was one of the most blissful taste bad experiences and I am a harsh cheesecake critic! I hope to be back soon for a bagel or three!
Beni Kabuluku
Really great place, cozy and super friendly service. Shoutout to Peter who helped me last week. I had the Belgian Chocolate Cheesecake (🤤) and a cafe mocha, and it absolutely banged. What a combo. Probably the best chocolate cheesecake I’ve eaten, to date.
Jomari Steyn
Our favourite quick breakfast treat, is a New York Breakfast Bagel! The scrambles eggs and bacon compliments the bagel perfectly! We also enjoy having coffee there!
Caryn Parker
This place is effortlessly awesome! A laid back casual cafe! Whoever is running this place needs a huge pat on the back. Aside from the fact that you get delicious freshly baked goods and great coffee at reasonable prices. It’s the genuine warm and friendly service that sets this spot ahead of the rest. The team greet you with a smile and a hand shake, gestures like this goes a long way. Perfect spot for brekky, brunch or a coffee!
Farzana Dalvie
The bagels at this spot is simply amazing and so are the freshly cold pressed juices. I ordered The Start which consists of smoked salmon trout, avo, red onion and tomato as well as an orange juice and I loved it.
The service is friendly and efficient too, my overall experience was pleasant and I will definitely be back soon!
Gemma Scholtz
Fresh and delicious bagels. SUCH reasonable prices, and the portions aren’t too huge which I really like. Great variety in offerings and I hear that the cheesecake is one of the best in town.
Caryn Rajh
Cute spot. Those little bagels really do fill you up to my suprise!
They are generous with toppings 👏
You place your order at the front of house, grab a seat and someone brings your order to you. Its such a chilled vibe- which I love.
Raeesa Naik
A neat and airy establishment situated on a bustling corner in the city. Perfect for a quick and wholesome bagel lunch that will leave you feeling nothing but satisfied. There is a moderate space for seating. You can choose from a variety of bagels (onion, plain, etc), as well as a good selection of fillings.
Everything is freshly baked and quite substantial. My favourite is the salmon trout and cream cheese on onion bagel - fresh, delicious salmon with a delightfully generous smearing of cream cheese. The toasted onion gives the bagel a nice smoky flavour which I love. I always order one of the cold pressed juices to quench my thirst afterward. All of the juices are great, but I do enjoy the apple juice the most. There are also other baked goodies available on display for those who prefer croissants or feel like a piece of cake, etc.
The service is prompt and polite.
Christél Kloppers
Yummy bagels, oh my goodness... I had the start bagel (salmon, avo, lettuce, onion and mayo)- it's fresh and not overwhelming at all. The coffee is good too. Friendly staff and quick service. It's busy during lunch time, but they manage to get the orders out quickly. Lovely atmosphere.
Michelle Dickman
I love NY Bagels. Always go for breakfast but got a pastrami and roast chicken bagel today and the amount on each bagel was abysmal. The meat didn’t even reach the end of the bagel.
Mr Creosote
This is my favourite eatery in cape town. It gets everything right. Superb food. Good service. Excellent value. Great vibe. EVERY SINGLE TIME
And I should know: I come here 3 or 4 times a week for breakfast or lunch, and have been for a couple of years.
Katy Pea
So SO delicious but I'm it's a 3-star from me for eye-watering waiting times. If you've got time to kill, the bagels are worth a wait but it does seem inexplicable to wait 20+ minutes for a bagel to go. For realsies. Streamlined processes and more staff at busy times would make this place indomitable!
Dirk Scheepers
Really great, fresh bagels and amazing coffee.
Staff is extremely friendly and fast considering how full this place gets. Reasonably priced as well.
Amy Kruger
Went to New York Bagels for lunch one Friday. It was unbelievably busy and we struggled to get a table. However, we didn’t wait long for our bagels. My friend and I really did enjoy our food and the menu is large enough and has enough variety to suit any persons preference.
Angelique Smit
My favourite bagel joint in Cape Town!
I had the traditional smoked salmon and it was fantastic. Freshly prepared and high quality ingredients. Had the cheesecake for dessert- this is the best cheesecake in the universe. No competition. The staff are super friendly and made me feel very welcome in this uber cool joint.
Yrina Pustella
Even tho is a tiny place to sit and hang out for a while, it's very well decorated and the atmosphere wants you to stay longer even tho behind you there's a crowd waiting for you to stand up so they can sit.

I went for the classic cream cheese bagel, very basic but delicious.
The coffee is good.

I would recommend also the sausage roll, or bagel dog, whatever you name it, it was delicious.

Can't wait to comeback and eat more bagels, maybe take some home.
Robin Mahlangu
I love everything about this place. Firstly, it's affordable and the bagels are super fresh and super tasty. Although it gets really busy around lunch time, the orders come out relatively quickly so at no point does it ever feel like a drag and the staff are super friendly which also helps. Look out for their specials which are always a treat.
Georgia Blueberrii
Everything from the salmon bagel to the baked cheesecakes are made with top notch ingredients and have the simplicity needed to make this a perfect takeaway spot
@natsnotfazed
Lovely little spot, super friendly and fun staff. Had the burger bagel on special for R35 and the chocolate croissant - both so yummy! Would definitely go back to try the other options.
Lisa Nyoka
I've been wanting to try out this spot for really long so I came here for a quick brunch this morning... I had a cappuccino and the salmon & scrambled eggs bagel... The bread was tasty and fresh, the contents of the bagel were also seasoned well so I didn't need to add any salt or pepper (that's always a good thing)... I also liked that the coffee was served in these mini old school type mugs...

The only downfall was how full and cramped the place was. I decided to sit down but I found it was really loud because the waitress shouts the order numbers to find the customers (even for those who are seated and not waiting for a takeaway)
So I think the restaurant could improve by finding a more efficient way around that, perhaps having a specific waiting area for when the restaurant is full... As a result, I would prefer to go there to get take aways rather than sit down- perhaps it's more enjoyable when it isn't peak time.

The food was pretty nice, I think this is a must have !
Jason Norwood-Young
One of the most reasonable spots in Cape Town is also one of the best. I had the BART, and it was to die for! Finished with an amazing chocolate cake.
Shannon Correia
Stumbled here by mistake and it was such a great surprise! They have great selections of baked goods and bagels. The service was quick and the bagels were served in cute bowls. Minimal, simple decor have a great feel to the place. They have really good specials too- everything was well priced. Would definitely return!
A.akoo16
Always a pleasure going here ,staff are always very friendly and prices are reasonable. All ingredients (including bagels) are always fresh.Never disappoints !
Lauras World
We stopped in here for a quick coffee and breakfast on-the-go recently, and I almost wished that we had had enough time to stay longer and settle in.

Interiors are efficient, the service was quick and friendly and both of us enjoyed our food. It was also packed with people on a week day which is always a good sign.

This is probably the best dedicated bagel spot in Cape Town, and I would return.

For more, find me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter: LaurasWorldza

Okay so I seem to be in the minority here, but I genuinely think this is the most average place in Cape Town. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s not. But the food is fine, just fine. I was so disappointed, having heard so much about it, and I really find it overpriced for how average it is.

Also the cheesecake: it wasn’t bad, but it’s too dense. I don’t know how to explain this well, but it’s so thick and hard that you have to like suck to eat it. That sounds weird but yeah 🤔 still the flavour was good !

To summarise, I don’t get the hype, and probably won’t be back 🤔
Bree Street Brent
The bagels are excellent and well priced, but the cheesecake steals the show! This is a great lunch spot in the East City but I prefer to arrive around 11h00 to avoid queuing.
Deven Moodley
Very cool spot, with amazing selection of bagels. The team was on point, mixing interesting twits onto the traditional bagel. One of the oldest Bagel joints in the mother city, re-imagined in Harrington street. Fantastic 👏🏼
Atara Jaffe
These people really have their shit together I mean the bagels are on point the service is great and they have lovely kombucha what more could you ask for. Also their chicken soup isn't on the venue if you ask for it they will give it to you and it's just so lovely
Wanderlust Coffee
Look:
I love this hidden little gem. The plants gives a peaceful and calm environment while relaxing. On a busy day, the place can get very crowded, so it'll be nice if they can expand and add more seating. The seats aren't comfortable, but perfect for a quick bite.

Service:
Excellent service! I've been here a few times and every time the guys working there is very friendly and sincere. I love this factor as you don't see it often anymore.

Food & drinks:
Their coffee is very yummy and, of course, their bagels! They have a big variety and it's really good. They also have other things, such as cheese grillers or pastries.

I definitely recommend.
Lisa Stein
I really loved this place. The staff are super friendly and the ambience really open and friendly. The bagels themselves are delicious and I would definitely come here again for the food.
Leeray Baartman
Bagel to due for! Coffee brewed right and size of the coffee was just right to fuel me for the rest of the day. Service could be better but overall good.
Stelios Chasou
This place is based nearby the CBD. Not much else around it. But very busy with long line of customers waiting to order their bagels. Bagels were good, definitely something to try in Cape Town. Service also very good considering how busy the place was.
TK Boulais
Having had many bagels in New York over the years, we can say this place is legit. The guy behind the counter gave some great recommendations. We can't wait to try it again. Highly recommended!
Dave Fair
Excellent bagels, great selection of authentic fillings, decent prices, friendly efficient service, and a vibrant atmosphere. Daily specials are incredible value.
Jess Scott
Super duper delicious New York style bagels. The everything bagels is an absolute winner and so is the freshly squeezed orange juice. The decor is also fantastic and the pricing is so affordable for something so delicious. Definitely recommend!
Chetna Black
Most delicious bagels I have tried in a very long time! I had an onion bagel with salmon and scramble eggs and it was absolutely divine. Service is top notch and the staff are wonderful and friendly. During busy times it can get a bit crowded as seating is limited, but the food is worth the wait. Amazing.
Leandri Beyers
Best bagels in town!! Always fresh and tasty, friendliest staff and always a good vibe. And don't even get me started on the chocolate croissants and cruffins.
Nicol Miller
Such a awesome decision to stop here on a rainy day! Warm bagel with salmon and cream cheese(detected some lemon juice in the mix) , a decent flat white and the cosiest environment! The service is exceptional and the options of bagels and fillings are endless...also those baked cheesecakes in the deli fridges look a treat!
Candice
Excellent service from Michael! Friendly faces all round.Food was amazing!!! This will be a regular visit for us! Out of this world good, fresh food!!!
Chris Rafael
Brilliant service and amazing food. Simple whole ingredients pulled together on a perfectly made bagel is sure to delight. Never been disappointed with anything I've ordered off the menu!
Byron
Friendly staff and the bagels are great and completely reasonably priced compared to other bagel stores I've been to.

Their cheesecake is literally the best thing on this planet!
Allan Moita
There a so many great little places in the CBD. This is one of the better ones.

The quality of the food is spectacular. Very tasty, uncomplicated and well thought out. The shop offers great service and a selection to suit most tastes.

Liza-Maree Rawbone
THE BEST BAGELS AND ICED COFFEE EVER!!! Now that I got that out of my system I can start planning our next visit to this amazing place :) Just love love love the vibe and super friendly service, wow! I'm recommending this place to everyone, thank you for making our day.Shaun Rawbone
Epikoros
Fabulous baigels.

It's well worth traveling to buy their baigels. Hot beef on rye is also excellent. Pity their coffee is served in throwaway cups otherwise they would get a 4
Cariane
I absolutely love a fresh bagel and some cream cheese, so this place is a definite favourite of mine. Their bagels are always fresh and tasty and the service is excellent. The coffee is pretty good as well.
Lindie White
On a corner opposite a fabulous fine wine trader, you'll see a charcoal grey building. Inside you'll discover a hearty welcome, a friendly vibey atmosphere and a unique room inside a room interior with IKEA modernist influences.

There was a constant stream of customers, yet the owners took the time to chat to anyone willing to shoot the breeze.

We ordered bagels, Scrambled Egg & Bacon and a Roast Chicken. They were served in plain brown paper bags, wrapped in waxed sheets. They appeared small, but were fresh and as tasty and delicious as the hearty reception.

Hope to go back soon!
Annerie Rossouw
If I could give New York Bagels a higher rating, I would. I had the best gypsy ham and cheese bagel and the service was absolutely delightful. I could not be more pleased by this visit.
Sara
We had cappuccinos and a slice of cheesecake to take home. The coffee was decent and the cheesecake good. The staff are very friendly and make coming here a pleasure. The bagels are also delicious.
Johann Rossouw
Really pleasant place in Cape Town. We happened to visit when they had their Saturday special - Salmon and scrambled eggs on a bagel for only R30. Great value for money and nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back for more bagel goodness
Ryan Jones
I won't lie, we probably chose the busiest day to go try NY's Bagels (not ideal) but I must admit I was a little disappointed with the size of the bagels given the high price point. I have made bagels myself before so I know that it is a tedious process and therefore warrants a certain price higher than other bread derivatives but I was still left feeling a little underwhelmed. I'm not sure really what contributed more to my disappointment, the long wait and then finding out that they messed up our order or the smallish sized product. In terms of the flavour, I can't complain. It satisfied my taste buds but the experience was over in seconds. Not sure if the hour wait was worth the 10 seconds of pleasure. None-the-less, I would definitely recommend NY Bagels for the typical american experience, just don't go on a Friday at lunchtime and if you're a growing young man such as myself, you may want to make sure you have an extra bite to eat before or after.
Vuyo Sisanda Sisanda
I've nicked named this spot Bagel land . The best spot to grab a morning or lunch bite . Love the vibe and the freshly baked bagels . There's so many bagel options to choose from and they even offer a special paired with a coffee . I always get The Start which has salmon in it . They also have really good cheese cake if you feeling like an Extra treat . Your guaranteed to bump into well known design industry folk at this spot . You want to grab a bite and network I defos recommend this spot .
Meg Fitchett
I've been here a few times and it never disappoints. My best is the roast chicken bagel which is excellent. Their cheesecake is also fantastic. The only problem is trying to find parking can be a bit of a hassle
Coffee Coffee Coffee! I have a weakness for great coffee that comes in Large portions! I'm pretty much an addict!
My sweet treat loving companion loved their chocolate croissant! He also enjoyed the Dog bagel so much that he finished it before he could add some of their delicious Chilli!
Will definitely be back to try some more bagels & have another large cup of caffeine greatness!
Jack Gorton
I used to go to the old New York Bagel in sea point all the time.
The new incarnation is lovely, small but bright and neat. I have a chocolate croissant and bagel dog both were delicious. My beautiful companion had a black coffee and she loved it ( she has a thing for places that serve good portions of deluxe coffee) I will be back to try a bagel. I came back ! And tried their old school burger, it was delicious
Tiyaarah Cloete
New York bagels are the best, I used to frequent the branch in seapoint growing up. I recently tried this one, I had a classic salmon bagel. It was fresh and delicious. So impressed
Mornay Elizabeth Schoeman
Oh my word..... where has this place been my whole life!
Great little interior, crisp and clean. Beautiful plant "shelves", modern simple furniture. Friendly, happy staff! Man, I love this city.

Oh... and the coffee is amazing, the bagels are stupendously yummy! Didn't know it was Wednesday special day, like this couldn't get any better, so two coffees, two cream cheese bagels cost R56! (So Wednesday special day, turns out to be every week morning, 7 to 9 special! Yeah!)

The menu looks very interesting, as do those magnificent looking cheesecakes, will have to go back for more investigation.

This is a must, do not miss this little place.
Almost forgot, my favorite part... they open at 7am!
Jessica Stromin
The best blady bagel in Cape Town. Such a cute spot, very popular at lunchtime so get there early! I had the BART (Bacon, Avo, Roasted Tomato) with extra cream cheese - DIVINE. Cost effective as well and a real treat. The cheesecake looked amazing too!
Melanie Du Toit
An inconspicuous inner-city gem: I popped in here with some colleagues for lunch, and WHAT a treat. They have a Wednesday special (today was a chicken schnitzel bagel with a salad) for R32 and different bagels to choose from: plain, onion, and sesame seed. The staff were so friendly and helpful, not to mention our food was ready very quickly and tasted so fresh. We arrived before the lunchtime rush, but service is so efficient that I don't think it matters if you don't manage to come before. Alice Findlay had the cream cheese and salmon bagel which was a definite winner with her - I'll be back to try it!
Carien Moolman
For the best freshly-baked bagels and the most cheerful early-morning service in town. I love this place. They also make a beautiful baked cheesecake. :)
JayRo
Just ordered a sandwich as a takeaway for lunch. Absolutely amazing. I work at the bottom of town but really just felt like something different, and this was truly worth the little trip out. I think I might have to come here again for breakfast on saturday morning!
Glenn Muller
Still the best bagels in town. Yes, New York Bagels as we know it when it was still situated in Sea Point is no more- much much smaller and the menu revolves around their best-seller, i.e. the bagel. It's more take-out than sit-down but still as popular.

After a gruelling trail run up in the mountains I was in serious need of breakfast and coffee and decided on NY Bagels. Had their Saturday special of scrambled eggs and salmon trout with a red latte. There are some seats should you wish to sit down which is exactly what i did. The bagel itself was lovely and chewy and complemented the filling. Red latte went down a treat.

It's almost sacrilegious not to leave without a slice of their cheesecake and I did not disappoint😄
Jessy Da Silva
Stumbled accross New York bagel while in town this afternoon, so decided to pop in for lunch. I ordered the chicken schnitzel and salad bagel, it was so tasty one of the best bagels I've had, you can tell that it was freshly baked. I love that you can watch them make the bagels. This place has a very relaxed atmosphere and perfect for a quick bite.
Can't wait to try other goodies on the menu!!
Ashna Dayal
New York Bagels is such a lovely spot to grab some coffee and quick bite. It attracts many of the locals working in and around the area. I thoroughly enjoyed the cappuccino I had. My friend and I shared a chocolate croissant and the hummus and vegetable bagel which were both delicious. I was just disappointed with the lack of cutlery available.
Wez_Undercover
Yes please and thank you. I love myself some Bagels and NY bagels now what it's all about. Great spot, friendly staff and very tasty bagels. I would avoid them on rush hours like mornings and Saturdays. But otherwise go have a nice bagel in the middle of Town.
Ryan Mulders
I love their bagel burgers! I've never actually been there but my colleges bring these bad boys back to the office and they are a real treat.
Celeste Tsang
Bagels 💙 I am a bagel fan so might be a little bias. Cute white interior, always busy! Wide range of bagel to choose from. Bacon and avo is my personal fave. If you go there between 7-9 on a weekday, you can get a creme cheese bagel and a coffee for cheap!
Cobus
Very nice experience. Never had a bagle before and this was definitely the place to have your first. Coming back at least 3 times a week. P.S come early and get the warm bagels.
The Circle Box
Great place for a quick bite. Really great service. The bagels we ordered were amazing, flavored and seasoned well. The entire pace had a very welcoming atmosphere and feel to it.

The bagels itself were fresh and the star of the entire meal. Be sure to try out some of their sweet treats and not to mention the amazing baked cheese cake. M

What we had:
Rare beef Bagel
Salmon Bagel
Meg Ringdal
What a treat! Exquisite food, superbly run, at really decent prices. This place is so great that there's always a line - but always so we'll run that you don't wait long. I love the huge variety of Flavours they offer - comforting and varied. Will definitely be coming to this place more often.
Tegan Smith
Friendly staff and delicious Bagels. I will definitely be back. Choose your toppings - I chose the Bart ( bacon , avo, roasted tomatoes) and selected the "Everything" bagel which is seeded with sesame seeds and poppy seeds along with caramelized onion. A must try !
Foodster CT
Had a very ordinary bagel and cream cheese here. Filled the hole (see what I did there) but the truth is there was too much bagel and the cream cheese was nothing special. Perhaps a different filling world do the trick? (but I doubt it because Kleinsky's in Sea Point kicks the pants off this place).

*** returned with colleagues and tried the Reuben. Whilst definitely a generous helping of pastrami I couldn't tell whether NYB buys or makes the pastrami themselves (otherwise a satisfying, rich, filling meal.. surely a favourite with the hungry hipsters)
Shae Leigh
Delicious! I like that you can "build" your own bagels with the menu options. Fresh bagels, great atmosphere. Sit inside with good background music or sit outside and enjoy the street movement.
Roxy Paans
Being a South African I'm so excited to recommend and suggest New York bagels!
I have been to New York in the states and these bagels are great if not even better!
The service was good(although we could have been given sugar and serviettes)
The prices are great and definitely well worth it.
Michelle Dalton
This is a really cute place and offers reasonably priced gourmet bagels.
I opted for the 'fishcake' which was an actual fishcake on a bagel, it was tasty too with not much potato and more fish. My partner went for the 'Bart' - bacon, avo and roasted tomato which was good too; the bacon was crispy which is always nice!
They are quite small but perfect size for a quick lunch if you aren't very hungry.
Deluxe coffee is served along with fresh juices. One can also buy plain bagels either fresh or frozen to take home.
Adrian Kaplan
Arrived on Sat morning to a fairly long queue. We ordered the Saturday special (toasted bagel with salmon trout and scrambled egg) and two plain buttered bagels. All were absolutely delicious. Nicely wrapped and presented. The owner or manager comes around and shouts out the order numbers to the hoards of people waiting around to collect. It's a great spot but very small with limited seating - if you find a table hold on to it! We waited over 30mins for essentially buttered bagels...not acceptable. Bring in more staff on a weekend if you need to. Food was delicious so i would def go back for more.
Ben Rhys
Hell yes these people make some damned fine inner-city bagels in spite of dubious claims to having been in Cape Town for a few decades longer than anyone can remember them. Fun fact: these guys are a block away from the District Six museum, an enduring archive of and testament to the legacy of Cape Town's forced removals. Another fun fact: the District Six museum does not sell bagels. And they get pretty angry about it when you ask.
Lael Jay Parkins
Such a lovely atmosphere! The food is so well priced....I normally always opt for the start - lovely bagel with salmon, avo, red onion, greens and I personally go for extra cream cheese :) the iced coffees are delicious too...definately a winner of a place for a quick bite to eat!

such a great place! everyone is super friendly. we had the salmon and cream cheese bagel and the avo, bacon and cream cheese. great combinations. bagels are abit on the small side but otherwise very tasty. the Cheescakes look divine!

What a gem! The decor is minimalist and unpretentious. Service was friendly and fast. Then there is is the bagels, exceptional! I took extra for Sunday's breakfast. The coffee is great too and I look forward to going back for the cheesecake.

It may be a stripped down, minimalistic reincarnation of the old NY Bagel in Sea Point but the bagels and the cheesecake (oh the cheesecake!!) are anything but stripped down. The bagels are freshly-made onsite each morning and are delicious. The Start (trout, mayo, onion, tomato) is a great way to get your morning fill while the Reuben (pastrami on rye) is a tasty lunch special. The coffees are also pretty decent. Highly recommended

lunch sandwich

One of the best early morning stops for my husband and myself on our way to work. Decent coffee, phenomenal bagels and the morning special is budget worthy. Service is fast and friendly. The onion bagel is my favourite and they will hopefully experiment with the cinnamon cranberry I requested...#justsaying #christmasflavours
Stopped by here for a quick take-away breakfast the other day - some yummy coffee and a salmon and cream cheese salmon bagel. Super yummy. Waited a little while for my bagel to be made which gave me a nice feel of the place. The people were so friendly and had a lovely time conversing with everyone!

Always the hardest thing is choosing one option from such an outrageously tempting menu. The Bart was the order of the day and as usual its perfect!

Great bagels, good coffee, excellent service. Great way to start the day with a hand crafted breakfast bagel. The Salmon and cream cheese bagel is my favourite. I'm definitely hooked.

I walk past new york bagel quite often and finally popped in when i met up with a friend for coffee. Love that they have early bird specials with coffee and a bagel. Although i did feel that the bagel was pretty average. Neat setwork. Good service

Quaint, well priced and simply delicious- This sums up new york bagels for me.
I am a frequent customer hence my high, yet well deserved rating.
The deli is rather small but perfect if your just stopping by or sitting down for a quick bite to eat. The staff are friendly and make you feel completely at home as well. They have some great specials which i have taken full advantage of- the morning cream cheese and flat white combo is fast becoming a regular occurrence for me.
My top things to try when visiting:
Baked Cheesecake
Iced coffee
Old fashioned Bagel( friday special)
Chocolate Croissant

I find such comfort in places that specialize in certain foods. While an all-rounder is usually successful when you're not sure what you feel like, it doesn't quite have that factor of being able to say: "today, I feel like a bagel" and it being the first place to pop to mind. Well, if you ever find yourself making such a bagel-related statement, look no further than New York Bagel. I had a scrambled egg and smoked salmon bagel and, best of all, it was the Saturday Special so only cost me R25! The service was quick, the staff were friendly and bagel was delicious. Really, I can't think of anything to complain about - and I LOVE complaining (... Almost as much as my bagel)

The Rueben and hot beef on rye were the orders for the day! Washed down with a hot cup of deluxe coffee - great business day lunch with Graham Jones - quick and tasty! Will be back for a bagel...
