Review Fork Restaurant - Cape Town Central

Wong Mun Sun
Totally enjoyed the tapas here. Good variety of tapas options with specials on the chalk boards. Ordered 9 dishes including 2 from the Spoon menu and everything turned out to be super delicious! I especially liked the prawn, calamari and mushroom risotto tart dishes. Really flavourful and tasty. Service could be a little more attentive but overall decent. Restaurant has a relaxed vibe and I would definitely recommend Fork if you are looking for good food.

Very good experience with this place. I had dinner and it was fantastic in all aspects - service, ambiance and food. Good quality of tapas and good knowledge of waiting staff. Price is on the higher end, but worth the money. I went on a Monday evening at 6pm and it was rather calm. I recommend a try.

I live for 3 years around the corner and finally made it to FORK. What an experience. This is by far a great restaurant. Had the tuna, kudu, goat cheese and calamari tapas along with a great wine. Tapas range from 65R to 95R with a fork, which they tell you are 4 bites each. Every bite worth the money. Not a cheap place but a extraordinary one in Long Street. Service is good. Only improvement I would recommend is less staff problem talks at the bar as the space is small and guests might be interrupted. Luckily I was for early dinner at 5pm and the only table. Usually this place gets full, and well deserved with this great food.

We've drove past this restaurant so many time and finally got a chance to try it. Staffs are super welcoming. We initially thought the price was steep for pinchos - but the great flavour made up for everything. A bite of fried goat-cheese pinchos - mindblown! Every bite was a pleasure. We enjoyed all the other dishes we ordered. Two of us shared four dishes and were satisfied. Four tapas dishes, two glasses of wine, bottle of water and gratuity came up to be R500. Will definitely be back for more!

Great wine and great food. Server was excellent and made ordering a breeze! We asked for his top 3 , which made him laugh and I understood by the end of the night. I think in total we ordered maybe 8 different food items and 2 different bottle of wine. Needless to say it was a great experience and would reccomend it to anyone.

Great tapas with a strong concept: food eaten with a fork, usually in 4 bites. Well worth a try. Most reviews mention that this place is relatively expensive for the Cape Town downtown area; that’s true but I’d argue it’s worth it. Visiting from London we found ourselves in need of a dinner option and the first two Google reviews I read were emphatically positive, they were right! We were advised by our waiter that two dishes each as a couple would be sufficient to start with but I think we ended up having about 7 in total as we’re hungry guests. If we’d have had room we’d have had more!! All of the food was delicious but the star of the show for us was the confit duck and waffle - a genius take on crispy duck pancakes!! We booked last minute on a Monday night in Feb and the restaurant wasn’t busy, but from other reviews of wanting to go at a more popular time than us, booking ahead is advised.

Luxurious, amazing, touching the tastebuds like a wonderful experience! We ordered 10 (yes 10) dishes and all were excellent. A must stop!

Very sweet restaurant with classy English atmosphere, friendly staff and rich food. We had the lunch special and the 5 pcs of tapas were very good! Can recommend it to spend some time, have lunch, good wine and good coffee

The food is fantastic, as is the service. The owner (Ed) is a great English guy. You won't be disappointed with anything here. The only downside, if anything, it's a bit expensive (compared to other local African restaurants). But worth it! Final tips: the tuna dish and the 'plankie' steak.

Very nice tapas! You can park at the street. Portion and choice are great! Will definitely go another time!

A friend of my wife recommended this restaurant and we were glad they did. Located on Long Street which is mainly clubs and bars. A tapas restaurant and we had a great server who guided us thru the evening. Portion are 4 pieces and come out when ready in no particular order. We had Beef raviolione with a poached egg, rosemary butter and crispy pancetta. Grilled tiger prawns wrapped with pancetta. Kudu fillet with potato gratin, garlic spinach and a citrus reduction. Pan seared ostrich fillet with sweet potato, red peppers and a rosemary-honey dressing. Grilled chicken with braised leeks, potato rosti and romesco sauce. And for dessert, homemade dark chocolate truffle and a mixed berry with trifle. All excellent. I highly recommend Fork.

My husband and I really enjoyed Fork! It was slightly pricy, but so delicious and worth every penny! We had the seared tuna with tatsoi salad and Asian sun-dried tomato dressing and guacamole, beef raviolione with a poached egg and rosemary butter with crispy pancetta, roasted gem squash and nutmeg soup, and kudu fillet with potato gratin, garlic spinach and citrus sauce. Every dish was so wonderful and tasted so fresh, but if I had to pick a favorite I would go with the beef raviolione. It was PHENOMENONAL!! Also, the staff was so kind! I highly recommend trying Fork if you’re in Cape Town!

I absolutely love this place! The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. Their menu is creative, highlighting local ingredients. The place itself is cozy and the staff are just delightful - they want to make you feel welcome! I will definitely be going back again and again.

Good food, well cooked and served. All the food is prepared at the moment and with fresh ingredients. I'm very satisfied about what I ate, drank and paid.
Andy
Great service and some of the best food I've ever had. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Highly recommended and I've eaten at some of Jose Andres' restaurants and this is better. We're going back Saturday for dinner!
Scott Breier
Cozy place with great tapas and local craft beer. Literally everything we had was delicious. They even had a separate nut free menu. A couple of the ladies had cocktails as well that they highly enjoyed and to top it off they have a small patio above the main road.
Simone
Amazing food that not only presented well but was also delicious. I'm not a big dessert fan but the milktartspring rolls were my favourite -divine!

I really enjoyed the views here looking down at Long street. The service was good but one suggestion from one of my diners they can try and describe the dishes in a little more detail as they weren't too sure of the identity of the tapas dish. The dish itself was pretty good quality.
Ana Sofia Rodrigues
Great and very original tapas!

Everything was just amazing.
I would recomend the deep fried goat cheese and the Ostrich with sweet potato!

What a pleasant surprise! Hubby and I came here for an impromptu date and really enjoyed our meal. We ordered the special which was a tasting plate of five tapas, a glass of wine and a coffee. The tasting plate was average, however the dishes we ordered thereafter were phenomenal. Do try the kudu fillet, calamari, mussel risotto and the tiger prawns! Our waiter was really excellent and added to the wonderful experience we had!
Chelsea Tucker
A phenomenal evening. Always a pleasure to visit a establishment that puts so much effort into their meals. Tips: The goats cheese is literally from heaven... a must try! The tiger prawns are great (add a bit of salt if you, like us, like your seafood a little saltier). The dish that is their signature - the raviolini - is great, but subtle be sure to try get everything in one bite. The spoon menu is also a winner - the meatballs were amazing. The pork belly is a bit dry for my liking, but so well seasoned you don’t notice.
Cocktails could be improved - the martini wasn’t cold enough.
The owner clearly cares A LOT about customers and the service is impeccable. The staff are friendly and majorly efficient.
Really quite a gem of Cape Town!

Lunch at Fork today. Great place. Friendly and well trained staff.
Great variety of dishes, a treat for the taste buds. Definitly a place to return to.
Lee
Very nice vibe... tapas was nice, the pork belly and fillet on mushroom bruschetta was my favourite. Sticky toffee pudding was great. Long island iced tea was average... tasted like colddrink.
Abhay Kochhar
It is a very delightful restaurant located in the central of the Cape Town. Fried potato is very delicious and everyone should try it. The staff is also very good and cooperative.

An absolutely stunning place. Situated further down on Long Street, away from all the noise. Beautiful set up. This place has very delicious tapas. Well priced too. Went for a friend’s farewell party and we had a beautiful time there. Definitely a place to check out. I would say mind the step when you go to the toilet😂

My tastebuds were in heaven during my visit to Fork for their food and wine pairing evening which takes place most Wednesdays during winter. I consider myself privileged to be amongst the few fortunate guests who enjoyed the spectacular food paired with Catherine Marshal wines. Every single morsel of heavenly delights that I devoured was truely spectacular and I feel privileged to have stumbled upon this gem only footsteps from home. I've heard about Fork many times and I'm kicking myself because I haven't tried this place before. But at the same time I'm glad I went this evening. The food is top notch and the staff are superb, from the waiting staff, the owner to the chef. What a mind-blowing culinary experience.
David Metelerkamp
Fork is a favourite for delicious fine dining like tapas. Have been a few times and the food, service, ambience is always fantastic. Some favourites are the veggie curry, butternut and goats cheese rotolo, the calamari salad, pork belly or rillettes and the flourless chocolate cake for dessert is great - think rich dark chocolate. They recently had crocodile tacos on the menu which is interesting, I didn't try them but they looked cool.

You can share about 5 tapas between two people which will set you back about R200 each which isn't bad for the amazing tastiness and quality.

The wine list could use a revamp in my opinion, a lot of average wines, and not the best variety, they only have two chardonnays for example. They also don't do corkage, which I don't like especially because I couldn't really find anything in the menu I wanted.
Magic Mari
Food, waiters and atmosphere is amazing. But most of all THE FOOD! Loved every bit of the experience and my favorite was the steak. Will definitely be back!
Michaela
It was really the best dining experience I’ve ever had! The food was mind-bogglingly good, and our waitress (Faith was her name) was very attentive and was able to make great recommendations. 10/10, would recommend to anyone who seeks great food and dining experiences. Fork is the place to be in Cape Town.
Georgi Meihuizen
We had such a wonderful dinner here.
The seared tuna was incredible and I had the most delicious sangria with it.
The calamari salad that we got as a side was also amazing. In fact it was so good we ordered another one at the end of the meal.
Can’t fault this place and will definitely be back very soon.
Melissa Do Couto
Truly well thought out and delicious tapas. Every plate was beautiful, tasty and unlike anything I’d eaten before. The kitchen was very accommodating to the vegetarians in our group. The service was fantastic. I would recommend this restaurant. Save space for dessert, we tried 3 dessert plates and all were incredibly delicious.
Maphophea
Fork is really good, I couldn’t sit so I ordered takeaway. The food was delicious, so sad I didn’t discover this place when I still lived close to the cbd, it definitely would have become a regular. Absolutely worth another visit.
Renata Fulton
Lovely restaurant with very lively atmosphere. Interesting food. Very friendly staff and good service. Will definitely return when next in Cape Town.
Louise Perold
Fantastic service, attentive without being overbearing. We had some incredible coppa with fresh figs, beautiful ostrich, ravioli, asparagus and prawns - all delicious! And awesome peanut butter parfait for dessert. Def recommend !!
Amira Ajam
The food was delicious, BUT they are mini bites, so you will have to order a lot to get full. I went with my husband and we ordered like 4 plates and we were still hungry. We recommend the Deep Fried Goats Cheese (this was our favorite), and the moroccan meatballs. As it was the day of New Years, they had a lot of food items that weren’t in stock so that was a bummer as well. It was also really packed so it wasn’t very comfortable as the waiter kept passing through tables and I had to move my chair every time she passed, we were all squished together. We ordered the flourless chocolate cake, was good but not amazing.
Anais Du Toit
It was all lovely! The kudu was my fiance's favourite, where the lamb was mine. The deep fried goats cheese was also amazing. A perfect end was the chocolate cake! Will definitely be back!
Amy Scott
What a fantastic dining experience. The food was delicious and exciting with lots of good vegetarian options. The seared tuna, pancetta wrapped prawns and white chocolate mousse with raspberry coulis stood out.

The service was outstanding. The waiter was friendly and they were kind enough to adjust the tapas plates to cater for 5 instead of 4.
Tim Hillock
Fantastic service and cosy atmosphere. Had the most amazing tapas with a bottle of Black Dog Malbec. Can’t fault anything about this restaurant.
Giorea1984
Food is good, interesting experience and combination of flavors. Really well priced but I won’t go back again, too many ingredients in a single meal for my taste, but this is really personal
Danika
Food and feel: I thought Fork was cosy, but the place is quite small and the tables a bit cramped.

Service: The service was good, but not outstanding. We had to remind the waiter about drink orders. The tapas are brought out as they're made i.e. not all at the same time. I don't mind this setup, but it was annoying waiting 40 minutes between our first round of tapas that were brought out and our next round even though the order went it at the same time.

Food: Pretty average in my opinion. Nothing to write home about.

Overall impression: I don't feel like I need to go back.
Robyn Palmer
Best tapas restaurant in cape town! Very good value for money and the food is excellent! We ordered the seared salmon, tiger prawns, the calamari salad, the ravioli and the aubergine and chick pea curry. All were delicious and portions come in 4 bite sizes, perfect for sharing.
We had the flourless chocolate cake for dessert which was decadent and brownie-like.
Service was great, our waitress was very attentive and gave us advice on what to order.
The restaurant is small but very cosy, unpretentious and welcoming.
Over all a great experience. I will definitely be back!
Gabi
Warm and unpretentious vibe. The menu had loads of great sounding options and everything I tried was unique and delicious. From the many vegetarian options to the meat, nothing disappointed. The nicely priced cocktails were a treat at R50 and white chocolate mousse with raspberry coulis was the best way to end off a very cool tapas experience.

Tip - portions come in 4s so double date to taste more of the menu!
Ankur Agarwal
Nothing pretentious about this restaurant. Such a cozy feel and delicious food with service. Mainly serving tapas style portions. Every dish served was well prepared and exquisite. The special of the day was a delight. Home made pasta rolls with amazing stuffing. Must visit if you are in cape Town.

Came here one weekday for their lunch special, having never been here before. Let's start with the service - it was exceptional - like something you would expect from a fine dining restraurant. Greeted with a smile, the paper of the day handed to you and an amuse bouche served complimentary by the chef.

The lunch special however is rather small - all of 5 tapas pieces on a plate. As in 5 bites on a dish (albeit very lovely tasting 5 bites)! Who eats that little for lunch????? Had to pick up some naughty fried chicken after leaving there.

I'm hesitant to come back for dinner ... as I may end up leaving hungry again.

Update: returned for lunch to give this place a second chance. This time avoiding the lunch special like the plague.

The trick here is to pick 3 dishes per head (I'm sufficiently stuffed) and close your eyes wrt prices - this was by no means a cheap lunch.

I picked the beef ravioli, the kudu fillet and the truffled mushroom risotto tart. Not sure if sizing was adapted since I was dining alone, but it was one giant ravioli and one giant tart presented (not really bite size tapas). But hey ho I'm not complaining since tiny portion sizes were my gripe last time around.

Ok... so about the dishes itself: the beef ravioli was lovely. Tad too much olive oil drizzled on the plate though. And the beef itself could do with some more seasoning. But the poached egg inside and the crispy pancetta jut worked so well with the rest of the dish.

The mushroom risotto tart was my least favourite. That was just normal rice, placed on a very thick buttery crust, topped with mushrooms and likely drizzled with truffled oil. The chef needs to work on his/her risotto recipe... do not recommend this dish at all!

The kudu fillets were however sublime! Nom nom nom.

Once again service was absolutely stellar. Complimentary amuse bouche served with your drinks. And even though I was outside on the balcony (which they desperately need to get some form of shading for), I was never forgotten and nor was my water glass ever empty - it was attentively topped up.

I've added another 0.5 to my original score.

Great Tapas in the City 🥂🙏🏼
I absolutely loved the Fork atmosphere! So inviting and such a great restaurant feel to it like none other. We were very well waited on and sat upstairs where it was a real vibe with lots of people. The food was absolutely top class with very interesting combinations and I feel that the pricing was amazing for the portion size. Really a great restaurant and I'd highly recommend it to anyone in the area 🎉👏🏼

Had a late lunch at Fork on a weekday. The restaurant has a very relaxed with a warm vibe. Our waitress was incredibly helpful with choosing our meals. The tapas were delicious. The sangria was average and cost an arm and a leg.
Jennifer Van Riet
What really impressed me about Fork, was the separate glute-free menu. How wonderful it was to not have to ask about ingredients. It set my mind at ease and allowed me to enjoy the melt in your mouth selection. Wine was also out of this world

Had a lovely experience at Fork last week. Although being a wednesday evening the place was packed with people and a welcoming vibe. Candles placed at each table, and soft music set the tone of a serine but vibey dining spot. (A lovely place for a first date)
The food was tasty, especially accompanied with a glass of wine, and they offer a wide variety of food preferences which I enjoyed as I am quite an indecisive person. The layout of the food was well thought out, and it makes a great place for sharing (again, perfect for a date).
Prices of the foods were reasonable although the food portions were not as big as I expected.
The staff are all friendly and helpful. My friend and I ended up staying a bit later than expected and although it was almost home time for the staff they maintained their friendliness and made us feel comfortable.
I was overall satisfied!
Really enjoyed our visit to Fork!

The waiter was very friendly and attentive. We sat upstairs on the balcony and watched the hustle and bustle of Long Street below on a warm Friday afternoon.

We tried the Roasted Butternut with hummus and pinenuts, the vegetarian Raviolione with ricotta, spinach and poached egg, the puff pastry parcels with mushroom and parmesan and the crispy asparagus. I loved all the dishes and washed it all down with a glass of house red. My favourite was the ravioline as the egg was poached to perfection.I enjoyed all the dishes but it is quite pricy for what you get.
Pusm
Fork has become a classic in town, always good quality dishes, with the twist of tasting sizes, so you can taste more than just a starter and a main. We usually get 3/4 dishes each person. One of my favorites are the cubes of fillets , but everything is very well presented and delicious.
Sam Bell
Really cool spot. Enjoy the city vibe on the terrace. The food is artfully presented and delicious.
10 out of 10 for the braised lamb.
Great service too.
Gillian
What a fantastic food, service and atmosphere experience. We loved the mains, especially the pork. Thank you to the very fast, efficient and friendly service. What a great first night out in Cape Town. And the bill was way less than expected! Was incredibly reasonable and serious value for money!!! Loved loved loved it and can't wait to go back.
Sally Blaine
We didn't have a reservation and took a chance. We were seated on the balcony on a balmy evening which was perfect. The food was absolutely delicious. The pork belly and chicken with polenta was particularly good. Would definitely recommend this spot.
Simon Whyte
Really enjoyed our first dinner at Fork the other night. Feel that the tapas style dinner was well suited to a table of 4 which we had. We will definitely be back.
Reza Marvasti
This place is robbery. Waste of money. Outrageous prices for small portions.
We had to go to eat somewhere else after here.
Avoid by all means!!

Beautiful little gem in Cape Town CBD Long Street. Great food and vibe. Friendly staff. A unique experience. Would recommend to others! Very creative menu concept and I loved the tapas menu! Would love to try everthing on the menu!

Been eyeing this place for a while. Its always busy and we weren't disappointed. The waiter was really good and professional and the food was the best I had in a very long time. I really enjoy tapas and this place was perfect. I want to go back again soon.
Amy Chen
Food wasn't as good as I remembered it. Was there a couple of years ago and it was the best meal I've had back then. Now the food is still pretty good and I love the tapas vibe. Just isn't the best anymore. I think Asoka makes better tapas. Their house white is really good!
Ash Pash
I really enjoy this little spot. It's across the way from my office so I guess it gets extra points for being convenient. The service is always great, staff members are super friendly. Wine menu is decent and the food always good.

Discrimination by Management!
A few weeks ago my girlfriend and I made reservations at Fork. My girlfriend actually went into the restaurant earlier in the day and spoke with one of the managers. They said they would reserve a table for two upstairs at 8pm. As it turns out, we were running late to dinner that evening. My girlfriend called Fork to let them know we were running late. They said it was fine. We showed up around 8:10pm and apparently our table was not ready. They told us to have a drink at the bar. After about 10 minutes, the manager came up and said our table was ready. He proceeded to sit us at the countertop next to the bar! We explained we had made reservations for a table and he said “Oh my love, I can’t promise an actual table. We are so busy it’s first come first serve.” I thought to myself, why did I even make a reservation then? We asked to be seated at the next table that became available. The manager agreed. However, we began to notice the same manager sitting couples that just walked into the restaurant at tables upstairs, and he was ignoring us completely. We decided to get up and leave. The manager then walked over and said, “What is wrong, can I help with anything?” We were pissed and explained how we made a reservation, were seated at the counter, then asked to have the next available table, and watched him seat other couples before us! He had nothing to say.
I forgot to mention that I’m a black West African and my girlfriend is a white American. Almost all of the other patrons in the restaurant were white. It’s hard to believe that there is still racial discrimination going on in places that are in the heart of the tourist district and rely on people of all races and cultures for business. This was an unfortunate situation that we had to experience and I hope that management at Fork will take this situation into consideration for how they treat their patrons moving forward.
After an evening of Schubert and Beethoven at the City Hall, we had the munchies and the choices are limited at 22:15.

So glad Fork showed up with a Google Maps search. The upstairs area has bare brick walls on one side and a Long Street scene from 100 yrs ago on the other. Quaint, quirky and comfortable.

Although the kitchen was about to close, our very accomplished waiter had us seated and brought the tapas within minutes. Nobody wants to eat too much that time of night so the bite size portions were perfect. We shared 3 dishes: Aubergine, Chickpea Curry and Meatballs which filled the spot.

Kudos to them. Will remember it for future post theatre delights.

I've been here a few times with international visitors and it never disappoints! The prawns wrapped in bacon is delicious and the risotto tart is a favorite. It's to be able to find a lot of vegetarian options. Service is always friendly and the wine list offers affordable good wine.
Rene Fritz
I was there for pre event snacks and a drink and I was really impressed with their service, food and general ambiance of the place. I will definitely recommend it and go back myself as well.

I finally got round to going to Fork, a place I had always seen and heard about, like a mythical creature.
It was myself and a friend, and I of course got there first.

The service is straight away very attentive. The host is gracious and led me up the stairs to the second floor - didn't even know they had one! The balcony outside, while closed cos it's cold, must be awesome in the summer.

You get asked if you prefer still or sparkling water and it is then poured for you. Little crostinis with sundried tomato and tzatziki then follow while you wait. The restaurant was already bustling but pleasantly so as the tables were not on top of one another.

Highlights:

All the food was so well displayed on the menu
As veggies, my friend and I got very carb-heavy items:
The mains- as they were- were fabulous- a mushroom risotto pastry tart and a ricotta cheese tomato-sauce pasta "roll" like a large flat cannelloni .
All the dishes are visually stunning.
The cocktails are amazing. We went for a Sangria and a Mai Tai - the best I have ever had.
Our waitress was superb, so knowledgeable about the menu and relaxed

Dessert was more tasty than I could have imagined:

Mini flourless chocolate cakes and cream
Puff pastries with espresso cream
We couldn't stop exclaiming about the decadence and felt like queens.

Some thoughts:

A mild negative was we were not left alone enough- there was a lot of hovering and it broke up our conversations.
I kept being asked if I wanted more drinks and I said no several times.

A must-visit. Truly a gem.

Came here for dinner during the week.

It was fairly busy, but service was still great.

The food was amazing!! However, the portion sizes are tiny for the price charged. (Yes - I get the idea of tapas, but still!)
Pia Harris
I personally didn't enjoy this experience. I find the vibe quite stuffy and rigid, the restaurant is dark and dingy, the food was alright but very small portions and over priced for what you get. Others might disagree, but this is not my cup of tea.
I Love Foodies
Perhaps I have mentioned this before, but I think that tapas are pretty cool. I mean, bite-sized portions of all things weird and wonderful, delicious, and extraordinary? Sure, sometimes they’re a little pricy, but see them as food with a twist, food that offers adventure and experience. Something out of the ordinary. And, hey, as a foodie, what more could you want?
Sebastien Mafuna
Food: 4.5
Drinks: N/A
Service: 4.5
Would I go back: Definitely
Recommendations: Make sure that you're seated upstairs and maybe try get a booth.

One of the few good options along Long Street. an institution that works well and do not change over the years. It's always enjoyable to get 4 little meals instead of 1. Some are small - others are not. All in all, if you select 4-5 you should be good. Forks has a good wine list. No mistake made. Book in advance. Count R300 pp with wine.
Jana Williams
I sometimes go there during lunch for the special for R 80 for a nice mixed tapas plate, coffee and wine. Really tasteful. Service sometimes a bit slow but at other times perfect.
Beata Wedderburn
I think this is the best Tapas place in Cape Town because of the flavour combinations and how each dish delivers on taste. The only criticism is that the presentation of the complimentary bread with spreads divided into small pieces looks quite sad, which is a disservice to the rest of the meal.
Mark Coumbes
Always a nice dinner and a perfect winter local favorite! Parking is a bit of an issue but the host and waiters are great. Nice wine selection and each plate is mouth watering. Thank you again for spoiling us
Sumendra Chetty
Fork is conveniently situated in the middle of Long street. It offers the peckish Consumer a little bit of everything. Best to go with a group of friends, order some wine, sit on the balcony and try out a few different tapas options. The mini kudu fillets are delicious and for dessert the flourless choc cake is amazing!
Marika Mammen Appiah
I really love the tapas concept. The waitrons take the time to explain the whole menu to you and each individual dish if you'd like. We first had the Parmesan & onion soup which had a good amount of flavour. The Moroccan meatballs can be skipped- they're a bit bland and have an overpowering taste of cumin. The beef ravioli and pork belly were good too. I really enjoyed the roast chicken. The pork pâté that came along with it really complemented the chicken. Each little dish had an interesting combination of ingredients which I think went well together. For dessert we ordered the choux pastry with espresso cream and sticky toffee pudding. I would definitely recommend both. Great place!

If I could rate 10 I would! Went with colleagues and global colleagues who really enjoyed it. Great wine selection, and lovely tasting menu for us. Food was super delicious - love love love!

Absolutely splendid experience. The food in particular was just amazing. The waiter/wine connoisseur was very friendly + it did very little damage to my meagre pocket.

Keep it up guys!

i absolutely love this place its one of my favorite restaurants, not for the food but for the atmosphere and the vibe it comes with, my girlfriend and i are always welcomed and sort after. we usually go for dessert and coffee. this is a perfect first date restaurant.
Deepika Mangla
The place is small, yet hard to miss on the long Street. The place had limited seating, and seems so popular that the owner had to refuse seating to a lot of people. The menu is great, easy to understand. The owner gave great suggestions. The helpings are small because it is a tapas place and not a proper restaurant. The ambience and preparations are really good. Worth trying!

Great vibe, lovely service! Fork is a must for any foodie. Definitely coming again, it was recommended by a few friends. Try the pork belly.

Had a forking unreal dinner at Fork this week. Wow. Was absolutely in awe of the innovation behind the menu. Fork is undoubtedly one of the pioneering Tapas restaurants in Cape Town and is definitely a restaurant that should be close to the top of all food lovers bucket lists. The restaurant possess a very unique dining space which is intimate and highly sophisticated. It is an ideal environment to seriously engage with your company. However, the food is the protagonist of this experience.

Tapas is my favourite way of dining. You get to experience a diverse range of different foods and it creates a real intimate dining experience. We had an array of dishes encompassing a range of different flavours. My personal favorites and recommendations include: The risotto tart with parmesan, truffle mushrooms and pancetta; Raviollone with ricotta, spinach and a poached egg; The raclette fondant with chorizo and crostini; beef fillet in a red wine jus and the seared tiger prawns wrapped in pancetta.

However, it must be noted that all the dishes were absolutely phenomenal. Overall, an amazing culinary experience and a truly innovative restaurant.

I was disappointed on my last visit to Fork, despite their continuing to have a wide selection of vegetarian tapas. I remember being wowed the first two times I went there. Now, the deep fried cheese balls are a bit soggy, the aubergine, sweet potato and chickpea curry turns out to be a sweet potato, butternut and spinach curry (with a bit of grit), and only after it first arrived as the honey sweet potato side (which we never ordered). That said, the truffle and Parmesan risotto tart was delicious, and the flourless chocolate cake was great. Sadly though, I don't think I will return.

It has been a week since our visit to this quaint place in Cape Town CBD and I can still not get this place out of my head. It is absolutely magnificent!

I have been looking for a place like this in the entire Gauteng and surrounding and can not find anything remotely similar.

The food is mindblowing. The restaurant serves tapas, but not the traditional everyday average ones. Every portion was a flavour explosion in a perfectly executed sense.

The restaurant itself is not very big with a double story space. Upstairs gives you Cape Town feel.

The food is beautifully presented each to its own. The highlights (although every dish was a winner) was the salad surprisingly and the pork belly.

Amazing, amazing, amazing!

I believe the same owners have a restaurant Knife in Cape Town as well. I can not wait for Spoon in Gauteng!

We had every intention of going elsewhere for dinner, but there was rugby on TV, filling up every burger joint with a TV in the CBD. So quite accidentally, we found ourselves at Fork on Saturday night.
I'd been there before, a few years back, but I dont remember it being such an incredible experience.

The service was flawless, efficient and food came out at a good pace. One of the members of my party is a frequent diner here and we allowed him the honours of ordering a selection of tapas from the menu, which came out 3 at a time and perfectly balanced. The food was phenomenal. Every dish I tasted became my new favourite thing and after everything, I am going with the beef raviolo as the brightest star in a pretty shiny lineup of amazing dishes.

The food seems simple at first, and you only really notice the complexity in each dish once you start eating. We had a very reasonably priced Newton Johnson Pinot Noir to compliment it all.

For an establishment who has been around a very trendy block for a number of years to still produce food of this level is just amazing. We tend to be so excited about the next new place, that we forget about the solid success stories.
Im going to make a real effort to come here again. For that raviolo, if nothing else.

This was my first time ever eating at Fork and I have to say they a quite impressive. We were served very fast and the waiter was very helpful and friendly. The food was amazing, we were four people so it worked out great sharing the food, as most plates come with four portions. I really can't say anything bad about this place or its food everything I had was amazing but I have to say the butternut was a hit at the table! They are also very well priced especially if you share! I will definitely be going back and try some dessert next time!

Fork offers such a great dining experience. It's a tapas restaurant that offers sharing platters, where each dish comes with four bite sized portions. We ordered 3 dishes to start with and once we'd finished those, we ordered 3 more. The food arrives relatively quickly so there's no need to order all the dishes in one go. The highlights for me were the deepfried goats cheese balls with sundried tomato biscuits, as well as the smoked salmon rolls with cream cheese on crostini. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and attentive without hovering and would fill up our glasses as soon as they were empty. I had a great time at Fork and will definitely be back again.

I visited Fork for a business lunch and again for supper a few nights later . Atmosphere was good , service and front of house management was awesome. Food was very tasty and well presented . Don't go hungry as portions are very small . There was 4 of us and worked out at R250 a head but we did have a mojito each. Would I go back ? Sure but only if I found a parking nearby as hounded by homeless on the way to car and felt very uncomfortable . Maybe Uber next time !

My second time dining at fork and must say it was great. From the first visit to the second one a yeah later nothings changed. The food and service is still so great! I love tapas so fork for me is a great concept especially with their very different types of foods paired together.

Last night we ordered the same tapas as our first visit with just a few more new ones. All of which were great!

Lastly dessert was amazing, their flourless chocolate cake is so yum! A definite must have😁

I've now been here twice in the last week and I really enjoyed both times. I felt like the service and ambience were better at dinner than lunch. For a tapas restaurant, they have a fair amount of vegetarian options which is exciting.

I had the deep fried goats cheese which I absolutely loved. It was so creamy and perfect in all the right ways. The pasta roll was was good but a little bland, however it's a bigger portion size. I also tasted the truffle mushroom and I found that the truffle flavour was too over powering and needed to be more subtle. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake which is a must. So good!

Overall, it's a great tapas spot and I would definitely go back to try a few more.

Tasty dishes, but not good value for money. They have a nice balcony, but without shade, so on a day like today where it is 35 degrees, the outside space is pretty much unusable. Don't think I will eat here again.

quite unassuming from the street, if you dare to wonder inside it will be a heavily delight. (although definitely consider making a booking first)

everything we ordered was well prepared and absolutely delicious. all orders (including dessert) came beautiful platted in four small bites, great for sharing. orders arrive as they are ready, so it is very staggered eating experience - as expected - and of course some things take longer than other so there can be a wait in between samplings but there are enough drink options and cosy location to keen to entertained and comfortable. very friendly and welcoming service making the whole experience even more pleasurable.

The food was great to excellent, one or two of the tapas dishes didn't grab me while my table mates loved them. The service was of a level one would expect of a 5 star hotel restaurant. Friendly, unobtrusive and vigilant is what I'd call our waiter. A decent, affordable wine selection and a large selection of food for all tastes. Great ambiance set in a historical premises and a great place to be when filled with patrons.
EDIT: Fork was so accomodating that they broke their "12+ group needs to go on the set menu" rule by taking our order early on the same day. 14 rowdy and wine drenched yuppies invaded fork that night and everything we ordered came out on time and without a hitch. These people are next-level pros.

Truly amazing food but way overpriced for what you get. Don't come hungry or you'll end up paying a fortune. I'd say it's a better spot for snacks and drinks, rather than a full meal. The ravioli with poached egg is unbelievably delicious and the fillet on croutons is also great!
Coral Le Roux
The food is tasty, well prepared and well presented, and the restaurant is cosy, but if you have a big appetite, or feel like comfort food, then you'll be disappointed. Great for a meeting with friends - because you can share the food tapas-style.

A really nice ambience and pleasant staff. I had two specials - bocconcini with pesto and tomato and rabbit on doughnut with red wine onion (see picture). The former was lovely - maybe a touch too much pepper but that is being picky. The rabbit was a bit tough but what really spoiled it was a lump of bone! This is just sloppy and nobody seemed to care too much about it. I find this a lot in Cape Town - a take us or leave us attitude.

Pity really.

This is a gem that is tucked away in the busy long street. It has a downstairs, upstairs as well as a small balcony for when the weather is good. It has a old world feel to it with wooden floors, bare brick walls and solar lanterns. This all makes a for a great romantic setting.

The service is attentive. Its a tapas style restaurant with great food. You need about 3 plates per person, but it'll be worth it, the food it great.

Its the perfect place for a romantic dinner. Soak up the ambience and share the plates of food.

It was the ideal choice for a mid week night out when we arrived in the city centre where it is well located. Fork is very accomplished and has been in the city centre for many years.

They are synonymous for their tapas dishes with a variety of choice. Each dish was presented beautifully and I loved the #Prawn wrapped in Parma ham as well as the #Moroccan meatballs.

The service was very good and the staff accommodating.

I really wanted to like Fork more than I did. The atmosphere is nice, the service is fine, and the food...is just okay! I love a good tapas set up, and while their menu is inventive, their food just seems to fall a little short. I particularly remember a roasted butternut squash that I ended up eating just because I was quite hungry, and not because I enjoyed it. I'm happy to go back and try it again, but was not entranced.

The pros: Very nice vibe and atmosphere - great respite from the rest of Long Street.

The cons: The food just wasn't fantastic! If I'm going out, I want it be worth it.

I can't wait to go back and try all the dishes that I never got to try! Other than the food, the best part of this cosy restaurant was the sterling service. Our waiter was the only server on the floor, but we never felt neglected. He was charming and helpful. The restaurant more than accommodated the diverse diets of our group (gluten- & lactose-free, vegan, vegetarian) - the menu covers all of these but they had separate menus detailing items for particular diets. The main menu has loads of veggie delights and vegan treats. The manager unobtrusively checked in to see that we were happy and being taken care of.

And, ah yes, the food: there were some interesting items and flavor combos. Really lovely. The meals are tapas style and most can be shared. Go with a group. Share. Eat. Enjoy!

This is the second time I've been to fork, but I have to say it's a beautiful restaurant. It's so warm and inviting, not expected of long street at all, we had various dishes. The portions are lovely and not too overpowering as many restaurants tend to do. It was lovely end to a lovely evening

Stunning food (again..)

Solid tapas restaurant on Long Street. A little touristy but consistently good food.

I try to get here each time I visit. Kudu steaks great, belly pork stunning..Lamb duo was beautiful..

Strongly recommend. .
Garth Balabanoff
Great little restaurant that one would not normally expect to find on long street. We enjoyed a super meal here and can't wait to be back. The menu is tapas style so lots of sharing is involved and meal sizes are small. I would recommend ordering the specials as these are generally given a little more TLC in the kitchen and are devine. Can't wait to try their sister restaurant, Knife.

The long, narrow and warmly lit space at Fork caught our attention initially. Far from traditional Spanish tapas, this bustling place still rakes them in with bite-sized morsels that have a slight South African twist. Well, some do, anyway.

Prices don’t exceed R 60 per plate, so it’s easy to get carried away with ordering; especially when there are around thirty tapas to choose from.

The food at fork is always great! I love trying lots of their little plates and sharing them with the table.
Some of our favourites include the risotto tart, raviolione, fig and feta salad with pomegranate dressing, deep fried goats cheese balls and tiger prawns wrapped in pancetta.

The service is professional and efficient and they design a flow of courses for you based on your specific order.

They only downside is that eating lots of little dishes becomes very expensive. I would recommend a minimum of six dishes between two which adds up quickly!

What an absolute gem. Stumbled upon this unassuming little spot and was so pleased I did. Fork offers the most delicious tapas style food, perfect for sharing and enjoying over a good glass of wine and great conversation. Served by the lovely waitress your experience will surely make you happy from the inside out. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and welcoming and this is the perfect spot to spend your time and money!

Apparently I am very happy with the place, but friend of mine who worked there told that the kitchen is dirty😱. Next time we ll be there I ll check it myself

We went here for a birthday, and had the tapas style platters. Delicious food, and wonderful cozy ambiance! Lovely service and staff. Delicious deserts to choose from.
Neville Giliomee
Nice vibe, looks cool good service BUT...over priced for what you actually get. Not value for money really. For a glass of wine and a snack yes...not a dining experience really
Lisa
Delicious as always! Great wine, wonderful atmosphere, attentive service and inventive food. Loved the cosy wooden booth type table and posing for photos on the balcony.

My all time primary tapas restaurant in Cape Town ! Big variety of tapas to choose from and I've never been disappointed- it's 5years since I first step foot at Fork;) my reason for not giving u a 5 star is simply because so many times I rocked up and u were closed ;)
Melissa
Absolutely superb! We went to Fork with friends who are always raving about the place... And now we know why. From the warm greeting we received from the manager on arrival, to the extremely efficient waiter, and not to mention the amazing food; it was one of my best restaurant experiences yet. The ambience was fantastic. Really cannot fault anything here. And this was on an evening where they were jam-packed, with a waiting list of over an hour. Sooo impressed!

I went to Fork on a recommendation from a friend and I had an amazing experience. The food was fresh, well presented and delicious. The helping were perhaps a little small, but that was probably because the food was so tasty.

Superb!

There really is no other way to describe this restaurant. There is no doubts as to why they are always busy. Quality food and efficient service. Clean and professional. A really great experience.

I went to Fork with a rather large group of people. The manager was very accommodating and seated us in the air conditioned (read: small slice of heaven in summer) upstairs area.

The menu is quite varied. The set menu seemed like overkill so we each opted to order a bunch of individual things. The whole tapas concept is about sharing so each dish comes in a small portion of 4. Everything was delicious. The foods were out of the ordinary and the combinations worked very well together. Overall it is definitely worth returning to this one.

Special mention should go out to the waiter. The only thing more fantastic than how wrong he got our order initially was how quickly and readily he fixed the problem. There was no fuss and no drama and we were back to stuffing our faces full of bite size portions in no time.

Second special mention actually needs to go to the car guard in a Fork jacket who warmed us up for dinner by divulging his entire life story. It was quite entertaining.

I went to Fork with my family for my birthday celebration last night and I couldn't have chosen a better spot. The food & service were both excellent! Can't wait to be back.

Went to Fork today with a friend for lunch. Had a great experience with the food, it is very different and interesting. Some excellent combinations.
Only complaint is that our waiter was pretty rude and ignored us at times when we called him to order something. Without him there, the experience would have been perfect.
