Review Mugg And Bean Bryanston - Bryanston

Got the chickpea, spinach toasted sandwich (take away)... Must give them an A for effort on the vegan side. Nice vibe at the restaurant, friendly and eager staff to help you and get you satisfied quickly

Excellent and speedy service, friendly staff who go out of their way. Food is as advertised, tastes great and the atmosphere is relaxed.

I normally come here to do work and hit up there bottomless wifi and bottomless coffee. Also follow my blog on Instagram @justanawkwardintrovert 😊

I was there at a really busy time in the morning, and expected super slow service. The service was amazing - I barely had any time to do my reading before coffee and breakfast were served. I ordered a red latte from the menu, and they said they don't make that there, and brought me a rooibos latte instead, but still charged me for the red latte.

Excellent service from the Bryanston M&G. Managed to have our meeting without too much noise as there were a few people there working. Will definitely use again.

Found this M&B tucked away in Peter place directly opposite the Regus. Seems to be a popular meeting spot. Surprisingly lots of parking available. I had the usual flat white cappuccino, that lived up to its standards.

Always a pleasant experience. Good food. Big portions. Friendly staff. Can get a bit noisy. Ample parking.

Great early morning meeting place and the owner being personally involved in taking care of all. Food is good. People are friendly. I return often. Thanks guys!

Service was reallly good. One of the few places who get my eggs right. Will have my regular coffee meetings here more often.

Had breakfast here that was amazing. The wait for the food to be prepared was not long. Their vegetarian menu was also good for my guest.

It was raining yesterday morning so Mugg and Bean Bryanston was the perfect place to have my hot latte and breakfast. The staff is welcoming and friendly. I'm from Cape Town and this experience of how you are treated in Jhb is something to remember.

Mugg & Bean has been controlling the Joburg coffee monopoly for a long time now. They have been a little shaky lately with Seattle and others, but their pastries and beverages are still great. Their coffee is very good (at least that’s what my parents say), and their variety of lemonades, juices and milkshakes are tasty. I recommend Mugg & Bean for if you just need that bottomless hot chocolate or a triple shot.

Very very unprofessional. I ordered and paid for drinks the previous day for delivery at a specific time due to strict time constraints and they showed up 45 minutes late !!! We are literally just across the road from them on Peter Place . Had they said they couldn’t deliver I would have arranged for someone to pick up the drinks but instead I was left feeling helpless and unorganized.

First off service was not great, which was strange considering we were 2 of the 4 people in the establishment. Secondly the food was terrible - the wedges and sweet potato fries were not fresh (tasted reheated), the burger that was supposed to be served on the famous "Mugg & Bean knotted bun" was on a very thick soggy sesame bun. Clearly not All Mugg & Beans are created equally.
Food Diaries
Diary entry #1:

I had tea and their cinnamon sugar pops. I ate with my eyes when I saw the pops on the table talker but it's a pity they didn't taste as good when I ate with my mouth :( Good service and friendly staff, though!

Late lunch today (20 September 2016)

Really pleasant lunch today at this Mugg & Bean. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was also good.

Only criticism is that the food took a while to come out of the kitchen- but then again, I would rather wait a while and have fresh food made than food that's been sitting around.

Nice afternoon overall. Good vibe at this Mugg & Bean. 🍔🍰🍽

I love this Mugg and Bean.

Their freshly baked goodies smell delicious! And look even better!

I have never had a bad cup of coffee or a bad meal here. Really a lovely spot, pity it looks onto a parking lot.

Food always great, service fast. Definitely a place to stop at!

Average experience this morning at M&B. Service was pretty slow and breakfast took a while to come out, despite it being closer to the end of their breakfast service when the place had emptied. We asked for soft poached for both eggs bennedicts but unfortunately they arrived more on the hard side and the hollandaise lacked favour :( coffees were yummy though.

What a terrible restaurant. Food slapped together with no presentation skill. Really tasteless. Service just does not exist. Horrible horrible. Never again.

This is the best M&B in Jhb. The place hums. The service is great and the food is consistently good. M& B. I generally don't like franchises but the 1st M&B at the V&A Waterfront was a game changer a few decades back- their bottomless coffee and giant muffins, the deli style menu - a great destination. This M&B is the best.

Update: August 2015:

After being contacted by head office after my review, I went back to the establishment and spoke to the manager.

I ordered the same sticky ginger chicken salad and I am very happy to report that it was fantastic.

This salad is fast becoming my new favourite and when paired with some extra avocado, it's super tasty!

Thank you for your fantastic customer service head office, and to the lovely manager at this branch, thank you for your kindness.

I am a big supporter of Mugg & Bean. They are known for their huge food portions.
I met a colleague here for lunch and was slightly disappointed based on the food I have enjoyed at the Sandton City branch.

I ordered a Sticky Ginger Chicken Salad. The chicken was tender, but there was not very much of it, same can be said for the orange pieces.
I never order salads in restaurants because they usually consist of 80% salad leaves. Unfortunately this was the case at this branch.

The staff are very friendly and the place is always full, so I am hoping that this may have simply been my unlucky day.

When ever i think of this branch my ex colleagues come to mind. Being in IT and getting free wifi is something that gave them an excuse to get out of the office. As it was around the corner whenever we needed to test connections our guys would go sit here and " work" so we sometimes got really confused looks. Always busy with the business people in surrounding areas so sometimes parking can be tricky lunchtimes. Service was also pretty spot on and food was always good. No complaints :-)

Terribly slow service and even worse the burnt coffee... send back and burnt again. For a bfast orientated restaurant these are fundamentals. Seriously guys....

Clement Mugg & Joshua Bean really had a winning combo when it comes to generous portions and value-for-money. This Mugg & Bean is always packed, whether its during the week or on weekends! Great for take-away breakie on the way to work and they seem to know me which is lovely! There is always a friendly smile when I pop in and quick service at this branch! Their Basil & Tomato Soup (served with cheesy toast for dipping) is honestly the BEST so I am always searching out Mugg & Bean's for it! A special touch is that for those of you who love/buy a good cupcake (their Red Velvets for example are to die for), Mugg & Bean will donate money to "4Kids with Cancer". For those of you who have a sweet tooth, I have attached a pic of their incredible Lemon Meringue cake which is well worth a try!*

I ate here a little while ago and as I have said M&B are all the same, this one isn't, it's below par. Service and mediocre level of food.. I had a chicken mayonnaise sarmie and a coffee, the chicken tasted odd, the manager did offer to change, but no thanks I was put off by then.

On Saturday after watching the GetFit Games (and my husband winning fittest male) we decided to have a little breakfast before rushing off home. It was fairly busy but the staff were still friendly and helpful. As you can imagine we were not being easy as we were starving as didn't expect my husband to make it right till the end.
The layout of this Mugg & Bean does make it feel a little cramped but maybe it was a bad choice of table of our part and should have sat outside on the veranda.I decided on scrambled egg and rye toast (so healthy - I know). I did give the instruction that my eggs must be really hard and over cooked and I can gladly say the chef did just that! They were perfect and delicious!
It is not a fancy restaurant but the service was good and breakfast delicious so I would definitely visit again!
