Delicious food, lovely atmosphere and warm, friendly service from the management and staff at Vasco's.
We tried the seafood platter for two which was divine but a bit small compared to platters from other restuarants.
The chorizo sausage and prawns that we had for starters were satisfying and the dessert was out of this world tasty and sweet.
Service was unbelievable but most importantly the food was fresh, juicy and amazingly tasty!!! Best Portuguese restaurant in Johannesburg!!!
Good food, friendly staff. A bit pricey.
Prawn curry was very good as was desert. Owner/manager came to tables asking patrons about service. Will be back.
I was pleasantly surprised. Atmosphere was good. Service was good. Food was good. The only reason they are not getting a 5 rating is because they didnt have everything on the menu in stock. I would however refer friends, family and colleagues.
This is a really great restaurant. The food is good and tge service is also really good. Additionally, the servers are very knowledgeable about the menu and provide you with a range of specials. The manager is very attentive and the atmosphere is awesome
My partner and I enjoyed a near perfect lunch at Vasco’s Seafood and Grill in Bedfordview. A small, old school restaurant, they seem to fly under the radar.
Started with oysters, wild Lüderitz, my favourite. Plump, fresh, and definitely not frozen. Mains were Mozambique queen prawns and yellow fin seared tuna steak. Generous portions, beautifully cooked and presented. Slightly cheaper than Fishmonger and Pigalle, but right up there quality wise.
Service was impeccable, our waiter was friendly, knowledgable about the menu and wines, attentive but not intrusive . The owner/manager was clearly aware and in control of everything happening front and back of house, his passion for food and people evident.
A truly sublime and satisfying meal, and we will definitely be back to try some of the other Portuguese fare.
I've just discovered this Bedfordview gem. If you're looking for fine Portuguese dining, Vasco's is a great choice. The food and service is spectacular!
Amazing food, great atmosphere. Definitely recommend Vascos to anyone.
Ordered the queen prawns and was blown away by the flavours.
Definitely worth checking out.
Excellent food, we had the fillet steak and the pork belly. Both were incredibly tender and delicious. The owner seems to be very involved in the daily running and is active around the restaurant. We were slightly disppointed by the dessert menu, there was nothing on it that really sparked our fancy and at times the waitor seemed to hover around a little bit too much.
We tried the location based on the reviews of others we know especially an elderly couple that frequents the restaurant quite regularly. The restaurant was empty for a Friday evening, it was close to the end of the month though.
The service and the ambiance of the restaurant are great. The food however let me down, for the starter I had the calamari, for the main it was the baby chicken, even though the food was well executed, the portion sizes for what you pay are not worth it, I left the restaurant feeling hungry and had to make a sandwich when I got home. One major observation that I made as I combed through the menu is that it contains a vast amount of spelling errors. Overall it was not what I expected from an establishment like this.
