Review Hops Bar Food - Ballito

Menu is limited if like vegetarian stuff however if you are not into this the food is great. Fantastic ocean view but the parking area gets filled up rather quickly as it serves two restaurants and a swimming beach so come early in peak season.

Staff working here are very welcoming, the mussels were delicious and the cocktails are juicy!

I've been to Hops many times in my life. Recently, I went again for the first time since the renovation. As always, the place is an absolute gem to visit. It ticks all the boxes. Cold beers, great food, awesome atmosphere. Would highly recommend a visit if you have not been there before. The upgrades look amazing, well done Hops team!

Great vibe and views of the waves. This is an institution and a must visit if looking for a sports bar, or just a good spot for a beer. They have numerous brands of draft on tap, including Guinness. The pizzas are on point! Fish and chips (hake) was some of the freshest tasting we've had.

One of the best things about The Hops is the great service. The ladies are always happy, quick, and efficient. The main reason we go is to see the amazing musician and singer Andy Small. He's incredibly talented and plays so many instruments. Sunday afternoon from 3 to 6. Brilliant entertainer.

I really enjoyed Hops And Let me Tell you.... The Food, Service and everything was Astonishing! And there's A Jumping Castle for the Kiddies to play on and Its right and the beach But I really love that that have done Renovations and Our Waiter was really Lovely, Food was Fantastic and the Price was really Reasonable. I really Would Recommend Going Here! Just needs more 80's Music Played but Was very happy

Love the place. Stunning view of the ocean and for the hungry, try the burgers tasty and delicious. I have to back for the rest of the menu as that looked delicious as well. I could not post the video of the view. You have to experience it.

Service slow but food exellent.

Snagged a high table – one cannot eat without looking at the ocean. Sailboat artwork in bright colors on the wall decorated the inside. Hein decided on the Cordon Bleu Schnitzel. A cheese garlic roll to share and I fancied onion rings with cheese sauce. My eyes popped out!!!! The onion rings were only R35, but it WAS A HUGE PORTION!!!!!! It was absolutely smashing!!!! Hein’s schnitzel was little bit dry, but chips were great. The (not as small as in Joburg) cheese roll was yum. Couldn’t finish all the food – enjoyed a cappuccino and Rock shandy before we relaxed for a few minutes on a bench outside.

Great food and great views, can't beat the vibe of this place. First time visit and will definitely visit here again. Service delivery was also attentive. Had the jalapeno poppers as a starters and was equally tasty. Chicken schnitzel was soft and crispy with enough chorizo and bacon to cover it. Lovely views of the ocean and enough safe parking available. Vegetarian pizza tasted fresh and flavor was good.

The food is amazing! The staff was not too helpful or friendly. However, we got a different waiter Belinda. She was absolutely amazing. Very friendly, quick and has a very welcoming attitude. If not for Belinda I would not have given it 5 stars. Great beers on tap - Hogaarden and Leffe. The music and ambiance are amazing. Nice view of the ocean. Could sit there for hours. Highly recommended.

Oh my soul. This stays the best place ever. They're long Island ice teas are to die for. I even forgot my phone at the restaurant. 1 hour later they waited for me to collect. Honost and friendly staff what more can one ask for. Definitely refer them year after year when I get here

Hops is one of my go to restaurants for the vibe, delicious food and great staff! I love that I can bring my pups with me. This is definitely THE SPOT to show tourists or visitors.

What a wounderful lunch we had. Steak and Calamari combo was cooked perfectly. The Fish and Chips very tasty. The pastas were out of this World. Well done to all for the great service and fantastic food. What a beautiful setting right on the Beach. We will be back.

Sadly didn't find HOPS as good as 2 years ago. My mussel starter was very disappointing. I especially asked the waiter to inquire from the chef/kitchen if the sauce was made from scratch with white wine and garlic and not from a tin or packet. It arrived looking like 8 mussels sitting around a pool of thick ready made sauce with so much garlic a vampire would faint at the smell of it. The mussels certainly didn't look fresh. Considering, the restaurant is on the beach front, I expected better. My husband's chicken livers were drowned in an oily peri peri sauce - not pleasing to the eye. My husband's fish and chips main meal wasn't memorable, except that the fish was over fried. My pizza wasn't too bad, but after my disappointing mussel starter, I had one slice and asked for it as a take away. South African red wines are pricey.

Terrible service. Been here 15minutes and not one waiter/waitress even bothered to serve me, table is a filthy mess and still no one even interested in batting an eyelid at me or my disgusting table! Service here is non existent with 5 waiters just standing around the entrance!! Absolutely terrible! This is the first time in ten years of coming here that the service is so disgusting!! Not even a one star rating from me!

The food is great, views are amazing but the service (sadly from what I observed for 2 days in a row, if you’re black) is questionable! You will sadly need have to beg for attention... even to settle you’re bill.<br/>

Went for a lunch and to watch the Currie Cup Final. I had the Hops Pie which was excellent. The wine selection was good and the variety of beers on tap. The service was also good. When I’m back in Ballito, I’ll definitely be back.

Great service. The breakfast exceeded our expectations and very generous portions. Best breakfast iv had this holiday. New decor gives the place a nice fresh feeling with upmarket finishes. We will be back for sure

Awesome place. Staff very friendly and food was good the multiple times we came here over our 4 day stay in Ballito. They even allowed our Jack Russel to join in the outside area that made it that much more convenient. Big ups for management at Hops. 5+

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Had the calamari. Was delicious. My partner had a salad which was also good. Next day we had breakfast as well here. Its was very good. Service was good and management are visible. Recommended to all

We went there as a party of 4. The remodeling was done very well and it has a much more “fancy” feel to it. They have the best view in town and the remodeling really promotes sea view seating. Unfortunately the service and food isn’t that great. My beer was a bit flat and the food was typical pub type food that tasted a bit oily and not too fresh. It’s a very “vibey” place and the live music was good. Will go back for the Vibe not the food.
