Little hidden gem tucked away in a beautiful courtyard in suburban Wynberg - the sound of trickling water sets the scene. The owner was the most gracious host offering impeccable service. The coffee is 'to die for' and so is the food! Looks like I'll be a regular
This is an amazing place indeed with lovely staff and freshly made food. One of the best breakfast places in Cape Town. The only problem is the owner Kerneels, he is only a nice guy on Tuesdays and Fridays. The rest of the time he is a scally-wag.
Lovely garden experience - they had almond milk so even as a vegan I could have a delicious decaf cappuccino. My choice for meetings in the Southern Suburbs. Will be back!
Super location for tea and lunch in a beautiful garden setting! Lots of lovely cakes on offer, delicious teas and coffees, and other goodies to take away. Definitely recommended!
My favourite spot in the South...friendly and welcoming staff, awesome food and the most delish cakes. Enjoyed lunch at High Tea yesterday celebrating my friends milestone birthday. Where good food and friends meet...:-)

We absolutely love visiting High Tea! The owner & staff are always so friendly & welcoming; the food is lovely & well presented! So calm & peaceful, a beautiful haven!
Best lemon meringue, best scones, lovely coffee, and now best birthday cake for my sons' birthdays! Thank you, Irma!
Lovely place for afternoon tea and amazing cakes
Love the friendly staff, each and every meal is wonderful, relaxed happy environment and their catering for functions is superb and reasonable x
My favourite place in Cape Town. Food and service always good.
Beautiful setting, lovely staff, friendly manager, delicious cake - just lovely all round!! The Chocolate Mousse Cake should be renamed "Come Back Again" Cake, because it is definitely reason enough to!!
PS. Best of luck for the Argus!
Hidden gem. Best destressor in the heart of all the 'busyness'. Fabulous service and delicious eats.
I found a gem in Plumstead.. an oasis in the middle of the jungle. If u want serenity, a garden setting with the peaceful sound of a fountain along with great food & exceptional friendly service then visit HIGH TEA. Address : access from Whitby Rd, 53 Constantia Main Rd, Plumstead.
Beautiful peaceful setting. Delicious scones. Friendly staff
I'd never have imagined that this gem was hidden away in Plumstead. It's located in a courtyard, closed off from the rest of the area, and is absolutely surrounded by greenery and calm. Such a beautiful and relaxing setting. A perfect brunch or tea spot.
Excellent service and a relaxing and inviting atmosphere ! A great discovery that I plan to take my Wife and Family to again and again in the coming years ! Loved it ! The pictures say it all with regards the food and excellent quality of the food on offer !
This truly is a southern suburbs hidden gem. Hidden in a courtyard just off the main road, you would not notice it unless you purposely went looking for it. Glad I decided to make it my mission to check it out today. The cafe is situated in a beautiful garden courtyard setting, with flowing fountains and pretty decor. I decided to get some takeaway cakes for later. They packaged it up all pretty with ribbons, bows and even sprigs of lavender! The attention to detail is admirable. The staff that assisted me were chatty and efficient too. And the cakes themselves... DIVINE!!! The cheesecake was rich and creamy and the lemon meringue (bonus points because of its cute heart shape) had just the right amount of sweetness and the crumbly biscuit base was great too! The prices are reasonable and with good food, quirky decor and great staff I'd definitely return. Highly recommend this place!
I discovered High Tea accidentally one day when I had an hour to kill in the area. A hidden gem indeed! And what a treat. It was a late Wednesday autumn morning and I was absolutely enchanted as I walked in under the vines. Gorgeous setting. The staff are friendly and the facilities are tidy and beautiful. I had coffee and Turkish delight - and will be back :)
I had lunch here with my mom yesterday. Such a hidden gem, I had no idea there was even a restaurant here.
We sat outside by the fountain in their beautiful little garden.
Service was quick and friendly.
The menu is small and written on a chalk board, but you're sure to find something to your tastes. I had the quiche which was delicious and served with a really nice side salad.
Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
This hidden and tranquil cafe is the perfect spot for some afternoon tea and cake! The cakes are delicious and the wide variety of teas will leave you spoilt for choice. I recommend the Blood Orange Tea! The service was great, too.
Their carrot cake is my all-time favourite....no place in CT comes close to theirs! Very cosy tables in a very peaceful setting even though the main road is literally metres away.
Staff are attentive and helpful but not overly so.
Many products line the shop shelves, from honey to biscuits, which are available for purchase.
I love coming here and highly recommend it if you want a quiet lunch date or just coffee with some friends. Good choice of vegetarian fare as well.
I've been wanting to visit this cafe for some time now and finally got a chance to pop in recently. My friend and I both had the homemade lemonade which was deliciously refreshing on the hot day it was. The milktart looked so tempting, I couldn't resist and I was very satisfied with my choice. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a peaceful, garden setting to enjoy a cuppa with a sweet treat.
We absolutely love our visits to High Tea, always such a treat! The owner & staff are amazing, friendly & attentive! They serve delicious food & it is such a beautiful setting!!
Absolutely love the openness, almost backyard feel that High Tea has. A great place to grab a coffee and some baked goods or a light meal and a catch up with a friend.
A tiny bustling vibey place to have a great breakfast. Sit in the garden on warm days and enjoy great fare, and service. Popular with the locals.
Just had the most delicious lunch, homemade lemonade and a salad that couldn't be more perfect. Prices are more than fair and service great. All this in a beautiful garden setting. Well done guys!
High Tea is a tea garden situated between Constantia and Plumstead. It has a warm homely and friendly atmosphere and is the perfect place for a relaxing breakfast or lunch. There is lots of open space for kids to play. High tea boats a wide variety of treats from scones and muffins to tarts and cakes. As I went for brunch I opted for the egg and bacon with toast. My friend had the egg and salmon with toast and we shared some scones. The food was well prepared and tasty.
Such a cute little hidden gem! Lovely and friendly service and a great breakfast! I also love the garden. What more could you ask for? I will definitely be back sometime soon!
Definitely a little hidden gem. Loved it. Friendly staff and owners. Tranquil setting. Good food and service. This may become a regular little treat.
I visited High Tea recently with a friend. We shared the most delicious chocolate cake as well as an amazing carrot cake at High Tea. Best to visit on a sunny day and sit in the courtyard while sipping on a cup of the specialty teas. The staff were friendly, helpful and provided great suggestions about what we should order.
This quaint little tea garden is a well hidden gem and from the outside very unassuming. The tea garden area is well maintained and has a lovely feel to it, with a water feature as the centre piece. The menus is written up on a chalk board which doesn't have a huge variety by some good choices. The food it's self was very tasty and the presentation was good. Their salads have a host of things in it like beans, sprouts, nuts ect. ....which I love. We will definitely go back for some "High Tea"Richard Best
I absolutely love this little #hiddengem in Plumstead. The scenery is absolutely breath taking. A beautiful water fountain in the middle of a secret garden. Outside tables are scattered all around the garden and creates a very private little nook for all customers to enjoy a chat and a delicious #flatwhite. My fiance and I had awesome sandwiches and took carrot cake home. The take away was beautifully packaged with a spring of lavender. Extra little touches that make this place special. Menu is small but I can appreciate that, because everything is made fresh and really well.
Delicious Chocolate Cake. Not sickeningly sweet as I've found many to be. Waitresses were pleasant enough, its just a pity the security guard was a bit rude. Apart from that, the ambience is delightful.
How I wish I could keep this place a secret forever! The most divine cakes and tarts. Every table has a view of the garden and it's perfectly situated to catch just enough sunlight, even in winter. Service is perfect and it doesn't take long before the staff start remembering your favourite tart or beverage.
If you are ever craving cake and tea look no further. The best mini cakes sooo delicious and decadent. Lovely on summers day with the family sittings in the courtyard. Well priced and extremely friendly service everytime
Found this little gem (after driving passed it for many years) when I was looking for a new place to go for a coffee with my dad. I was so surprised to find the most beautiful garden courtyard in the heart of busy Plumstead/Wynberg! You will be surprised too! We sat at a cute table opposite the fountain. I had a flat white and my dad a filter coffee. The lady who served us was great, very chatty. There are all these other stores within the courtyard too which I find quite cool, interior decorators, beauty spa, hairdresser, flower shop etc. A must try!
Going to High Tea feels like stepping into someone’s private garden and having breakfast in their courtyard. It has a beautiful secret garden feel to it and the grounds are lovely. Simple menu including breakfast, toasted sarmies, quiche and cakes to choose from. The perfect spot to take your mom for a morning catch up.
I call this my Secret place as its tucked away in a little oasis in the middle of busy Wynberg, on the edge of Constantia road. If you don't know it's there you won't know about it, it's tucked away in a beautiful courtyard with the sound of a fountain as backdrop. It is so tranquil! And with good coffee and the cutest mini cakes in every flavour you can think of you won't be disappointed going there.

I had been looking forward to trying High Tea for a while and was not disappointed. I arrived there on a rainy morning to meet a friend for a quick cuppa. The staff were very friendly and accommodating as I happened to have my son and his pram with me! I was craving a red cappuccino but unfortunately their machine was broken. The waitress recommended a chai latte and it was divine!! I'm looking forward to going back soon and trying out some of the food. A charming gem!
We drove all the way from the Northern Suburbs to have cake at High Tea, and I wasn't disappointed. I loved the idea of little individual cakes, and they were really delicious. I had the granadilla sponge cake, it was much better than any slice of cake I've had at a coffee shop before. Would definitely recommend High Tea!
Best cake ever... Doesn't just look good but taste out of this world... Food is wonderful and they have the friendliest service... Also consider ordering their Shiffon cake wonderful
Set in a pretty courtyard with a water fountain, High Tea is a Southern Suburbs hidden gem. They serve a variety of mini cakes and slices as well as packaged biscuits, meringues and fudge that you can purchase to take home. The homemade lemonade is particularly good and all the sweet treats looked home made and reasonably priced.
It's a beautiful, tranquil cafe that would be the perfect place to work or catch up with friends/family. The cakes we had were delicious and the staff was absolutely lovely. I would highly recommend.
Beautiful place, set in a wonderful courtyard setting with a mini fountain, quiet relaxing. It is also surround by small boutiques. Wonderful for a time out with loved ones or just a solo date. Received a pleasant service, we didn’t wait long for our food and drinks. The manager came, introduced himself and made a conversation. Liked it here.
It’s an enjoyable place to sit on a summer day under the trees that provides sufficient shade with the sounds of the water fountains in the background while you enjoy a light meal or an ice cold drink. The menu has a good variety of meals and the coffee is great for the coffee lovers. I specifically went to the nursery looking for a kumquat tree and ended up sitting down having a delicious croissant.
Loved this secluded garden restaurant. Tables are dotted around the garden and water feature, all under a shady canopy of trees. The high tea treats were delicious (high tea needs to be booked the day before but lots of delectable cakes available at the counter if you don’t book). Service was great. I’m already planning to return for breakfast…

Delightful little gem in Wynberg. When driving on Google Maps just take the M3 and let it guide you from there. There is ample parking at the back and there is a parking attendant present.Lush garden in which to have your breakfast and lunch.Esther was our waitress and super friendly.Breakfast is served all day which is a bonus🙌🏻🙌🏻My wrap was delicious and the burger vanished within seconds in the mouth of my teenager son😜😜We had a great family time here and the basking person was so talented. The manager came personally to apologize for a wrong order which I think was great. He is omnipresent and the locals love him.Inside the shop there are a few decadencies on display so be strong and get that cookie gift pack or rusks🤗🤗
What a divine setting, dappled shade under the trees, sound of the fountain and dude quietly playing acoustic rock in the background - I could have sat there all day. The food is delicious and doesn't break the bank, always appreciated in this tough economic climate. The owner is hands on and stops to check in and chat with everyone. Great guy. Check it out for a perfect, relaxed meal in a beautiful garden environment.
O my goodness what a jewel of a restaurant and garden. It is a absolute treat to sit under the beautiful trees in the shade enjoying the sound of a water future while having a tasty cake and tea. I I had the privilege to meet the owner Louis whom is very friendly and hands on.
The parking is in the shade and very safe.
I will definitely come back to this restaurant.
I highly recommend the affordable tea and wide range of cakes.
A very chilled space where you can enjoy an open air, but shaded breakfast or lunch. They have all the coffee you need and even have have amazing locally produced juices.
You can buy various things in store such as treats, sweets as a variety of jams. It's the perfect place to have a relaxing afternoon with a special someone or a few friends. The food is fresh and really tasty. They too have amazing baked good. You need to try one of their many freshly baked cakes.
There are also other places inside Courtyard 53 where you can shop for various furniture and home accessories.
This is a gem of a restaurant. We had breakfast then were reluctant to leave, so we ordered more coffee and couldn't resist the mini cakes on display. We chose an apple cake with fresh cream with the cutest baby apple on top and a mocha chocolate cake. They were so fresh and delicious! The owners pay great attention to detail and are super friendly. It's a beautiful place to sit for a couple of hours to enjoy your meal and just relax in the tranquil garden.
A friend of mine booked this place for her function, it's just perfect if you have a handful of people and want to celebrate a birthday party.
We had an extraordinary amazing time..had so much fun that even the owner joined in the fun..the service was excellent and staff was friendly too..food was affordable and lovely .. I will recommend anyone to them..
I had my baby shower at High Tea on Saturday afternoon. What a lovely coffeeshop to host special events! The staff was friendly and helped us setup. The eats was amazing and lovely variety. Would definitely recommend High Tea to everyone! Such a gem!
What a magical place we found..!! Such a cute little gem hidden away in the quiet corners of Wynberg 💚🙋 Marsha was an absolute delight! Thank you for the fantastic service and delicious food
It's indeed a gem in Plumstead. You will not regret coming here. A peaceful place for afternoon tea, away from the heat of the day. They have a very good selection of cakes, pastries, and meals. The cafe is accompanied by other lifestyle shops, a lush lawn, a water fountain, and trees. Looking forward to trying their breakfast.
