Review Pomodoro - Wilderness

I had one of the most delicious pizzas ever at a lovely café on George-Wilderness road. They serve fantastic Italian dishes, and the staff is great with quick service. If you're craving tasty Italian food, I highly recommend this place!

One of the tastiest pizzas I had in my life. A beautiful cafe on George-Wilderness road serving delicious Italian cuisines. Amazing staff and fast service. Highly recommended for someone looking for some yummy Italian food.

Great menu, food, service, and atmosphere... we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

The food was so delicious. Specially, the margarita pizza with extra mushroom, and the service was excellent and the price also was good

I have been coming here for many years . Always delicious , always hood service, food is made traditionally , best wines and the owner is often there too, to greet everyone. Feels Like old school Italian restaurants in Italy. Being Italian, the photos all around bring me such emotion ❤️ and memories of my big Italian family.

Sitting at the window looking out was great. Waiters are friendly and effective. The pizza was great

Amazing Italian restaurant. Fantastic menu and authentic Italian fare. Wood fired pizza made the Vero (true) Italian way. Prices are reasonable and service is fantastic.
Nimrod Halimi
Very nice place, good pizza and excellent service.
Angie Church
Absolutely amazing service, from entering the restaurant we where greeted very warm and friendly, to Claire who gave us amazing food recommendations. Just an amazing place and the best authentic Italian food. (from the crazy table who shared everything.) Also the best Lemoncello I have ever had.
Tony Eva
This is the best pizza you will ever have. Great thin base using a wood fired oven . The service was excellent. Seems like a proper Italian home from home. When in Wilderness do yourself a favour and try everything including the T bone on the menu.

Had the mushroom ravioli, blew my mind. Our waiter Denver is exceptional. Thanks so much for a great experience

We went there Thursday night for some pasta and drinks and let me tell you they have the best Pina Colada I've tasted. So good that we had to go back the Friday for more. Really good place and friendly staff

First time visiting now for lunch with my wife and toddler. Amazing service and such attentive staff. Pizza bases were thin and crispy with generous toppings and my meat lasagne was the best I have had in years. Highly recommended.

For coffee - terrible! We felt like a great cup of Lavazza - the 2 cappuccino’s that we received felt as if it just came out of the fridge 5 minutes ago! And when we politely told the waitress the coffee is ice cold she said sorry they have a new barrista. The least we expected was 2 new cappuccino’s....what we got was the same 2 reheated cups of coffee??? I am sorry - but that’s not how it’s done!

Baie lekker geëet, wyn bietjie duur maar kos was uit die boonste rakke. Ons kuier elke jaar lekker daar as ons Knysna se kant toe kom

The food was absolutely amazing! I had the lamb shank and it was done to perfection. We also had the dessert pizza and it was delicious. Not too sweet and not too thick, perfect dessert to share at the end of a wonderful evening. Service was great as well.
Elmine Botha
The food was outstanding! What would have made our visit even more impressionable was if the waiter had the decency to say thank you and goodbye after his R117 tip on our bill of R583.

Food and vibe always great, service was ok this time around, things we asked for either took ages or never got it..but still great place.

We come to wilderness once a year & always eat at Pomodoro while here, our fav restaurant by far, never dissapointing except wine prices which r way to high, but food, vibe & service always excellent, lovit

Good food and excellent service. Had a hiccup with my main course. Were dealt with swiftly by our waiter and management. Will definitely return.
Robert Rimmer
Great restaurant, we make a point of eating there every time we holiday in the area

Pathwtic service. Waited 20 minutes dor our drinks order to be taken. Waited another 15 minutes for a bottle of still water and then stood up and left to go and eat at Flava across the road.

Cozy atmosphere with lots of Italian decor and a comfortable sitting area with banks. Service is very attentive. They have a menu of Italian classics. Had a mushroom starter that has to have been the best I've ever tasted. Portions are very generous and its very good quality for money. Do try the desserts. Did I mention that they have semifreddo on the menu? That's unusual! Also try the outstanding Irish coffee.

Whether passing by or staying in wilderness eating here is a must. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is amazing, many options to choose from on the menu and servers are all friendly and on top of things. We would highly recommend eating here. This is a "hidden gem" if you are not familiar with restaurants in the area.

Love the menu here - lots of tantalising options and many I'd be keen to return to try. I had a carb conscious fish option which was really tasty, and my friends all enjoyed their pizzas and pastas. We sat outside and the ambiance was good. The staff seemed a little exasperated though - probably the biggest room for improvement there. Could have been because we were a large table and it was overwhelming, but still felt I've had better service. Regardless, would go back.

Decent Pizza and good service. Good wine selection. The location is not far away from the see but inside the little village - also good for breakfast

Stunning food and ambiance. The pizzas were amazing and the walnut lasagna is an absolute must. The restaurant does get pretty busy so you know it's good.

We ordered the Miss Piggy pizza and it was delicious! Crust was crunchy and the toppings tasty and generous. The service was great and the staff friendly. The menu has a wide variety of Italian dishes to choose from, and the restaurant has a cosy vibe. Will definitely be back for more!

Love love love this place! They are so accommodating and we came here twice in four days . Efficient service and delicious food. Can't complain at all:)
Chantelle Gobey
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Something for everyone, decently priced. Meat was cooked to perfection, pizza bases thin and crispy. 10/10 would definitely come back

A really authentic Italian in the middle of Wilderness. Great food with generous portion sizes, fantastic wine selection, excellent service and a really comfortable atmosphere. No wonder people queue to get in here. We will be back! (Maybe as soon as tomorrow)

I believe I had higher expectations for this restaurant after seeing the great vibe whilst driving past and reading others reviews about the place. The service and staff were absolutely outstanding and the place had the most beautiful vintage rustic decor with fumes of garlic and herbs in the room. However the food was slightly saddening. I ordered the Alfredo penne excluding the bacon with extra mushrooms , the sauce was clumpy and the mushrooms were sliced really thickly not allowing them to fully cook , the dish also lacked salt and flavor, the penne was definitely store bought and not homemade. My partner ordered a classic Margerrita pizza , even though a wood fired oven is used to bake the pizza , the base appeared to be bread like texture and not crisp at all. The virgin drinks were tasty and refreshing. Not my best experience at an Italian restaurant.

First meal in Wilderness since 2005, and what a fantastic meal! A relaxed spot on George road, close to our accommodation which means more Italian nights out! We opted for the the La Nono pizza as well as the Brandied prawn pasta. What a treat! Oh yes, and some lovely Merlot wine to wash it all down. Such a treat while being on the Garden Route.

Fantastic experience... great pizza! craft beer on tap. Lovely setting and very friendly staff. My misses had the beef lasagne which had plenty of flavour and loads of protein.
Adele
Generally great pizza, but last night was disappointing- the pizza base was soft and soggy, and not as firm and crispy as it tends to be. The chicken livers seemed to have been heated by a microwave instead of a pan.
Antoinette Hattingh
Great service, wonderful food. Fish was exceptional, with gorgeous salad options. The pizza was amazing, dessert perfect. We can also recommend the cocktails
Simone Hasselbach
Popped in for a quick bite to eat. Ordered some pizzas that were pretty good. Service is friendly. Good value for money. Saw Elvis Blue with some pals here too 👍🏻
Robert Hunter Falkner
Excellent atmosphere. Authentic Italian. Siciliana pizza was smashing. Finished off with a grappa and double espresso. I will definitely be back again.

So cozy - even though we went in the middle of the week there was no lack in character. Probably THE best gluten-free base I have ever eaten - no jokes. Had a glass of red wine with my salami, feta, olives and caramelized onion pizza 😬 can't wait to go back

Keep coming back always the best in the Wilderness! Good service amazing pizzas could do with a few less tables so not so packed in but otherwise great.

One of the few places open early on a Sunday for breakfast. Amazing Service and Food. Local feel and super chilled vibes. Not badly priced at all.
Allan Moita
For me, the best restaurant in Wilderness.

Quality ingredients and very well prepared. The service was excellent and the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming.

A great small town venue

Quality: 4
Consistency: 4
Food: 4
Atmosphere: 4
Cleanliness 4
Service: 2
Location: 4
Value: 4
Will I return? Yes! Love this place.
We ate: pizza & beef burger
We drank: beer & cappuccino
Comments:
I heard waitrons talking about a table in a discriminatory manner by referring to a table as the table with the "moffies" (fags). I also saw the same waitron ask a patron where his tip was and why he didn't tip him. I found the waitrons very unprofessional and I was embarrassed for the patron as the whole establishment could hear the waitron arguing with him over his tip.

Friendly staff. Amazing food. Coffee was hot, which almost never happens in December holidays. We had breakfast and it was awesome!!! Everything was fresh and tasty. Love the Italian vibe!! Will defos visit again 👌

It was so packed and a very nice vibe. We were very disappointed with our food. We ordered the fillet steak pizza and salad to share. The fillet steak was so saucy it tasted like a debonairs pizza. Maybe we made the wrong choice but the choice we made was not satisfying and a bit disappointing. Also the salad was R120 which is absolutely ridiculous. Not sure if it's December holidays and prices are inflated but never paid that price for a salad and it had no greenery at all.

Had a great lunch yesterday, the pizza was most probably the best we've tasted in a long while. Restaurant was busy but service was great! We were a party of 14+ and did not experience any delays. Parking during peak times is a bit of an issue but overall the experience and more importantly the food was fantastic. Definitely a place to visit when you are in wilderness.
Adrian Kaplan
Fantastic pizza! I had the La nonna minus cheese with extra pineapple and it was delicious! We got these as takeaways because the restaurant is just so busy in December. Great food and friendly service.
Jess
Quaint little Italian inspired spot, well-loved by the locals and tourists alike. Casual and family friendly with a very happy buzz. We went there for dinner one evening and were made to feel at home by the friendly, personable staff. Pizzas were delicious and they accepted the adjustments to our toppings with no problem at all. Ended off our mea with some gelato which was a real treat! Very pleasant experience for a small town, family style restaurant!

Excellent Italian food. Everything we had was super tasty, can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Service was great aswell. Only criticism is that the waffle was a bit dry. Highly recommended!!!

We visited this outlet 2 days ago and found the piza crusts to be thin and crispy and the topping was delicious. Time to deliver within bounds. Pity that the attention given to us on arrival was almost non-existent. Service is not a seperate issue but forms part of the customer experience! Dont' stand around and chat to each other - attend to your customers! (The people making sure that you have a job) There were hardly any occupied tables over lunch.
Yuliya Malyuta
Pizzas are good, the rest of the food is average, service can be improved. Would agree to the comment regarding the toilets, as for such a big crowded place they could have bigger facilities.
Corli Du Toit
Excellent service! Vegan-friendly! They let me substitute all the non-vegan ingredients on my pizza for other things. And the pizza was delicious! Thin and crispy base with fresh toppings yum yum. Will definitely visit again next time I am in Wildernis.
Joshua Weiss
Good, old-fashioned wood-fired pizzas! When last?Service was also great. Only issue was on a cold and wet day with everything closed the smoke from the oven engulfed the restaurant and I left with watery eyes.
Mike Duplessis
We had table of six here. All adult eve. Not suitable to take kids. Pizza good, service always terrible. But the vino makes up for it just watch road blocks to George. Seriously. Downside only one loo that is always busy!
An average overall.
Travis
This restaurant served amazing pizzas. The bases were thin and crisp and the toppings fresh and full of flavour. Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating.
Derek Clark
Went here with pretty high hopes but was sorely disappointed. The service itself was actually not bad at all, we had a super friendly young blonde chap. We went on a Sunday so I assume every other restaurant in the Wilderness is closed as the place was absolutely rammed, freezing too as the door was constantly left open. When the door was closed thigh which was too often everyone would actually just let it go for it to slam, really disturbing, door stopper maybe? Anyway I digress, the pizza definitely looked a lot better than it tasted. My girlfriends pizza was over loaded with spinach and gross, I had the Mexicana which had green peppers on instead of the chillies that it said in the menu, also drowned in some cream cheese from a tube which ultimately left me a little bit depressed. Will not be returning.
Sharon Malan
Always a favorite when we come here! Great ambience, friendly service and the food has always been good. Bonus for some...they have an entire banting menu on hand as well which hubby had tonight, including a delish apple, walnut, parmesan and rocket salad!
Amy Lara Baxter
One of the best pizzas around! Simply divine! The service is really great, except in peak season where booking are essential or prepare to wait a very long time for a seating and for food. But really this place has amazing food.
Andrea
Loved everything about this place! It has a real cozy feel to it and the place smelt amazing as we walked in. The pizza was absolutely delicious; the crust was thin and crispy and they were very generous with their toppings. The service was great too, the waiter was really friendly, checked up on us often and we did not have to wait long for our food at all! Definitely a must when in the area!
Rochelle Harwin
Great service, awesome Italian vibe, good food. Really enjoyed the dessert selection. Gelato is apparently their speciality but my heart chose the cheesecake. Like a portal into Italy.

Love this place! Favorite stopover on Garden route. Good Italian food, lovely pizza's and great coffee. The waiters is are efficient and friendly with a busy local vibe.
Steve Oliver
Good service. Excellent pasta with well flavoured sauces. Good value. Only order large if you are VERY hungry. Warm friendly vibe. Very popular you may need to book.
Louis Van Der Merwe
Food was average. To wait 45minutes for canned tomato, boxed pasta and frozen calamari was disappointing. Friendly service and seems to be popular.
