Very good experience arrived for a party unprompted and were happily accomodated. Friendly service which ultimately made the experience. Decently priced. Ample parking right outside. Will definitely visit again.

So amazed that they are still going after all these years. The quality of food and the amazing service keeps this place going. We tried the rib specials. Amazing flavours and quantity. Could never make it this cheap or this good at home. Lovely evening out.

My daughter and I have been regulars for the past few weeks on Tuesdays for quiz night. The atmosphere is amazing, Noel is an awesome quiz master. Our regular waitress Skye is attentive, friendly and excellent at her job. Sbu, the manager is also accommodating and always makes us feel welcome. Hats off to the chefs for the great food.

Went to Woodcutters for Valentine's day dinner. I kniw what you thinking "odd place for a Valentine's dinner venue" but in my defense we wanted to try something different that didnt have "Set menus" most other more romantic settings had satet menus that cost on average R400 pp and didn't offer all that much for the price. Woodcutters offered no set menu and even had a steak special that consists of a 21day aged rump steak, chips and onion rigns for R50! Yes R50! The steak was only 200gs but with a starter was more than sufficient. My girlfriend had ribs as a main and it was delicious. Probably their best item on the menu. Me deing a sucjer for a good deal opted for the rump steak and dare i say it was one of the best steaks iv had in some time. The meat was tender and cooked ro perfection. I ordered medium rare and it came "you guessed it" medium rare. Not medium like so many other establishments that are way more pricy and known for their steaks. I wont mention names. Woodcutters exceeded my expectation. The waitress that served us was curtious and friendly and i really cant find much to criticize the service. If i had to be pedantic i would crit the fact there wasnt enough napkins on our table and i needed to ask for more but that is me being overly critical. We had a wonderful evening and i applaud an establishment that dosnt push Valentine's day and try capitalize set menus with no other options. Well done Woodcutters and i hope you keep up the great work you doing in the kitchen. You will be seeing us again thats for sure. Any resturant that 2 peope go to for a romantic dinner and the bill comes to R410 (incuding tip) that includes two starters two mains, two glasses of wine and two cokes is great value for money. The biggest issue i had as someone that dosnt drink is the price of their soft drinks are on the high side. Over R20 for a 300ml coke is in my opinion a little too expensive. But as i only payed R50 for one of the best steaks iv had its again a very small gripe. Iv heared a lot of criticism on the interior of the restaurant being a little dated but i dont agree. Its filled with pictures and even tools used to fell trees in the old days and i find it a breath of fresh air compared to the minimalist venues that are so abundant everywhere you go. Woodcutters tells a story and i personally like that. I recently hurt my back so i was rather uncomfortable on the chairs but im sure that was only due to my injury and not the furniture. My girlfriend found the chairs to be perfectly comfortable. They also have booths available with very comfortable benches. There is no smoking inside but outside there is a smoking section. All and all im impressed and i hope this establishment is still here long after im not. Salute Woodcutters you have made my top 10 places to eat a wholesome meal.

Sunday lunch is a must try. A wholesome and delicious meal and a live band to accompany the great food. Will definitely be back.

The cheesy prawns starter is fantastic, tasty and simple, and excellent staff, and some good live music!😁🙌

We were at the Pavilion and decided to drive to Woodcutters to try the burger special. The patty didn't seem home made and tasted like a processed patty. There was an intense gas taste in the patties which were very dry from probably being kept too long on the gas burner. The Guiness Pie was really bitter with no noticeable pieces of veg in it to cut down any of that bitterness so I'm assuming it was the last bit that was reheated for too long that caused the pie filling to get to such a bitter taste. My bro added some of my hot veg to his pie just to make it taste better. The chicken cordon bleu was nice. I would have given 3 stars if service was better. We had to wait over 20 minutes to get the waiter's attention to order more drinks and to get the bill. I won't mind trying other menu items but for now I give Woodcutters a fair rating.

So last night, my partner and I go to Woodcutters, Westville for their Burger special -buy one get one free. I was not prepared for THE BIG BOSS burger that I received. This was a monstrosity of a burger. With a soft bun, but crispy on the edges, a huge homemade beef patty, Bacon slices that covered the enormous patty, sauteed garlic mushrooms (couldn't really taste the garlic because of the epic brie that was going on), an insane proportion of creamed spinach with brie (and not a small portion either) along with the mandatory lettuce, onion and tomato. I ordered the Big Boss with veg - Butternut and green beans - definitely not my first choice, but they were yummy and juicy, and that's all that mattered to me. My partner had the same meal with Chips, there were also onion rings that came with the chips, but that got demolished before I could even get them in the photo! I was Blown away. Not only because of the size and deliciousness of it, but because they had a full house, every table outside and almost every table inside was completely booked. With only 3 waitrons doing the rounds and a full house, we still got our food in 20 minutes, if not less. The Manager took the time to check on us and every table to make sure everyone was fine (at least in the outside area where I could see). When he wasn't doing his rounds, he was stepping up to the plate and helping the waitrons. The vibe was fantastic, and by this I mean there were Christmas Decorations Everywhere! I love Christmas. There was a huge Christmas tree, decorations from the ceiling, decorations on the windows. Awesome atmosphere and awesome food! <3

The staff and service here never disappoint. Lovely atmosphere and great food (with the exception of the calamari). I could have kissed the chef after our last fillet. Absolutely divine :)

There was a table of us.. two of us ordered the chicken.. very dry, not nice at all. The cocktails as well not the best.. something seems "off" with the combination of cocktail mix. I havent been to Woodies for years.. and its not the same sadly.

Bad service! My friend and I waited 10 min to get served, asked 3 times for the menu and then still got no service so we left. A place which used to be good has gone down. Pity

Just had ribs delivered to me by Mr delivery. They were delicious. Excellent basting and the meat fell off the bones. The portion size was huge! Can't wait to order the ribs again!!!

Worst service ever. The last time I visited the service was shocking. Thought I would give it another try. Guess I will never come back again. Waited forever for food. Drinks ran dry had to get up to go look for our waitress. Management not in sight or maybe not interested in how to run a business.

Both of us had the 'honey-glazed' ribs... they were very dry and tasteless. I asked for more sauce and was given a tiny bowl of pale yellow watery liquid which didn't improve matters at all. We decided to order garlic rolls and was given an ordinary hot dog roll which had but a feint touch of garlic. I sent them back as they were not even toasted. We paid R48 for two and they were only hot-dog rolls. We could have bought 2 or 3 doz rolls for that price! To add insult to injury, we had to put up with loud dreadful 'music' by some guy on a screaming guitar. Definitely not the sort of music to dine to or even listen to. I haven't been to Woodcutters for about 3 or 4 years. We used to frequent the place as we were mad about their ribs. I don't know what has happened but will definitely not be going back. The service was not good either.

We went to Woodcutters last night to have a few drinks with Ray in celebration of his birthday. Next minute there was heavy police presence in the area. Police arrested a drunk driver who apparently skipped a roadblock in the area... Naturally this made all of us very nervous. We tried to call a take me home service but they could only come after 12...... Next minute Byron....Dee's son rocked up and offered all of us a "free take me home service".... this was awesome. Thank you Byron and Jessica....... To everyone else.......Woodcutters is an awesome place with management and staff who really care.

After hearing so many bad reviews, I wasn’t expecting much. But I have to say that I left Woodcutters as a happy diner. Delicious peri-peri chicken livers for starters (the bread was proper bread. Not a pathetic thin slice of toast that is served at some other restaurants) followed by awesome steaks for our entire table. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the meat was deliciously tender - great flavour. Just a pity that there weren’t more people there on a Friday but hopefully with more good reviews that will soon change.

Love the specials ... friendly staff. Have been going there for years. Kitchen knows their craft. Enjoy the effort made to open up when rugby games are on earlier in the mornings etc. Keep up the good work Mac and staff. Appreciate all you do ...

Was not happy about how stuffy and hot it was inside as aircon was not on. We couldn't sit outside because of the smokers. Windows were opened which helped with the stuffiness and the heat as there was a nice breeze, but we had cigarette smoke wafting over us as we ate ... Not a happy situation, which is a pity as the food was good.

Good friendly staff. Delish food and even if you not a steak eater like me calamari and chicken is great. Ribs are my favourite.
