Review Atasca - Westville

Risa
Randomly selected restuarant and was not disappointed. The food tasted good and there was live entertainment for a period of time on a Saturday afternoon. Staff were friendly and ensured that we were well taken care of. Nice free and family vibe restuarant, like neighborhood friendly spec. Also offer 2 to 3 course meals which are easy on the pocket come with a beverage.

Food was amazing. We had a set menu as we came as quite a large work group, but every person's meal came out at the same time, all the meals where hot and every one of us could not fault the food. Every one of us had nothing but good things to say about their meals. Thank you Atasca for a terrific night out.

Atasca Westville never disappoints. Their hake and veggies has always been my favourite and still is. Their wings are also off the hook, try them you will not regret! Recently I bouht a beef prego roll, I was sooo NOT impressed. It was dry and was hardly dressed. The taste was just not to my liking at all unfortunately.

Last night, my partner and I dined at Atasca, and we were thoroughly impressed. The food was delicious, and the service was beyond exceptional, deserving a perfect 1000/10 rating. It was a memorable evening and we could not have asked for a better dining experience.

Not to long back we visited Atasca for family supper. And boy oh boy did we enjoy! Our waiters were extremely friendly and helpful, they even went as far as recommending great dishes of the menue. The squid head starter was seasoned really well and light and crispy. The steak was cooked to perfection at medium covered in a cream sauce and fresh salad. The prawns were succulent and the chips crisp. And my little martini was to die for! The prices are reasonable and the food is great. Looking for a new supper spot? I highly recommend them!

Food was excellent. The service from our waiter Jack added to our dining excellence. He made sure our meals were prepared as we requested. He was attentive and extremely obliging. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening out.

The food was good but not everything on the menu is spectacular. Some items sound a certain way on the menu but when you receive your order it's disappointing. The service is excellent. Very attentive waiters. The cheesy prawn tail start was delicious. That was the one thing everyone did enjoy. I had a chicken pasta. I can't recall the name. It did taste good but I wasn't blown away by it. The brownie dessert was lovely but the crème brulee left much to be desired. If I'm being completely honest it tasted like a premixed custard and the sugar topping was soft. There was no crack which is the best part of a crème brulee. I'm not sure about other branches but atmosphere in this branch was so bland. It's not a restaurant I'd recommend in a hurry.

The entertainment by Sly had us tapping to the beat. The food was good. We expected the peri peri sauce to be hot but it was rather mild and not like we had before, it was a little to acidic. We were fortunate to have three waitrons and they were very friendly and helpful. Keep up the great service. It will be great if you could go back to your original peri peri sauce.

Ordered hake and chips.. order delivered without chips. (Update) Pleasantly surprised by a visit from the owner (with a fresh hake and chips) who handled the situation how it should have been handled from the start. I hope his manager is taking notes and learning something about customer service.

I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious even before seasoning. The portions were just right. The service was excellent and prompt even with a packed restaurant. We didn't have too wait long for our food either. As a vegetarian, its rare to find such good food away from home. Keep it up guys!

A Tasca is a gem in Westville. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Their calamari and prawns are both delicious and well prepared. They serve traditional Portugese style food (eg cod) as well as meat / seafood combos. The complimentary crusty warm breadrolls are divine! Service can be a little slow when they are busy but always a good experience. The lunchtime menu is great value

Had a business meeting at Atasca. Staff and management were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Had the steak, was prepared to tinge the taste buds. Will definitely return with family and friends

A friend and I wanted a nice cozy spot in Westville and our hearts were set on A Tasca. I am proud to say NO REGRETS! Our waiter was Tyheek (sp) and he was friendly and took good care of us. Lovely restaurant, good food, great service, proper background music and the bill wasn’t half bad. Well done 😉

We made a reservation for 9:30pm on a Saturday. We ordered the prawn special for the evening and were very impressed. Perfectly cooked prawns with enough sauce, good presentation and service. Staff were very accommodating taking into account our late reservation.

Decided to try a different restaurant. I have come to enjoy Portuguese style of cooking upon recommendation I went to A Tasca. The atmosphere of the restaurant has a simple family feel. The menu was nice read; telling the story of different foods around the world. We had a friendly waitor for the night, who entertained our many dry jokes.

For starters I ordered the camarão boca which is prawn tails baked in a creamy garlic and herb sauce. I felt the cream required more seasoning and took away the great flavour from the succulent prawns. When the prawn and cream were eaten with the bruschetta it made for a wonderful dish.

For main course I had the special which was barracuda cooked in peri peri sauce served with chips. This dish was bursting with flavour, the peri peri sauce did not overwhelm with heat and had a soft kick with each bite. The barracuda filet was tender and I must say great special to have on the night.

My only qualms for the evening was the wait staff at times appeared distracted, forgetting to bring all of our cutlery and had quite a delay in receiving our second order of beverages.
On a side note it would have been nice to hear the Portugués pronunciation of the dishes as read on the menu. Other than these minor errors it was an enjoyable night, I recommend go for anything peri peri it should not disappoint.

I had intended on having Domino's for supper on Friday but when I saw Atasca, I couldn't resist the prawns. It was my first time here and I was starving. Senzi is the cutest little waitress who had taken care of us throughout the night. I ordered a seafood pasta while my SO ordered the prawn and calamari platter. My pasta was a bit too spicy but the prawns were juicy and quite nicely sized. I really think I need to make a second visit to Atasca!

Great food and service best chicken n prawns (Portuguese) in the world. I've been going here for a few years now and prefer it to the original Gabys. I highly recommend this place.

Good Durban Mozambiqan Portugese food! Chicken and Prawns please - with Gaby'z Peri Peri sauce on the side. The chorizo is also great. Tasty food, good service and a well managed restaurant. Great for family's or a dinner for two!

Although Atasca is located in a strip mall (not my favorite kind of location), the atmosphere is casual but classy.

The food was alright. I ate some of friend's chicken pasta and that tasted good, but in terms of my meal (see picture): it was under seasoned to the extreme and most of my peas and carrots were overcooked. Nevertheless, the sole was fresh and cooked well, as was the langoustine. I would go back but would never order this dish again.

The waiters were pleasant and got the orders right, but weren't entirely attentive and often had to be called upon. There were nearby diners who were vocally frustrated with their waiter's inattentiveness and that dampen the vibe in my vicinity. My friend and dining partner was a regular so he was greeted warmly by the manager; I was ignored entirely, which I don't think is very polite when greeting guests.
