The food delicious. The dessert was divine. The waiters were very friendly, happy and absolutely amazing. Always attending to us and came to ask if we need anything else. We didn't have to call them or wait for them to return.

It's always a pleasure to visit Jimmy's. Whether we Dine in or do a Take Out the presentation of the food is always 100 percent. Celebrated my Husband's 40th Birthday at your venue and I was blown away with the excellent customer service. Milly is my go to person if we do a Dine in or Take Out. She knows exactly what we like and always advises us on what to order. She is absolutely amazing with my son and knows everything that he likes. I have been supporting Jimmy's for years and I have never experienced any bad service with food or customer service. Hope you guys keep up the excellent service you provide.

We booked a function venue for my mums 60th birthday on the 16 September 2023. Firstly the booking procedure was amazing. Sameer even contacted me prior to confirm time etc. The venue set up was lovely, the food was delicious. The staff, especially TK was exceptional. My only concerns were that I asked for Black and gold decor and got white and gold instead. Also it was raining on the day and I took my 83 year old (barely walking) gran for the party, but there was no toilet facility onsite. It was under renovation. They had made arrangements with KFC next door to use theirs. Our event was upstairs, so had to walk my gran downstairs, into the rain and next door and then back up the stairs again to the party. If I had known in advance about that, I would have changed the location. However overall good experience.

Visited Jimmy's for the first time on Women's day. Had the prawns chips and rice meal which was average, I expected more. The cheesy garlic roll made up for it, was really good. Service was okay. I will go back to give it a second try and maybe try something different from the menu.

I recently dined at Jimmy's Killer Prawns at Gateway and was blown away by the quality of the food and the exceptional service. The prawns were perfectly cooked and had an amazing flavor - I could tell they were fresh and high-quality. The menu had a great variety of seafood dishes, and the sides were also delicious. I particularly enjoyed the garlic bread. The staff was very attentive and provided great recommendations, which made my experience even better. The restaurant was also very clean and well-maintained, which added to the overall atmosphere. I highly recommend Jimmy's Killer Prawns for anyone looking for a delicious seafood meal with great service.

Wow! Compliments to the Chef! Budget R200-R250 per person. We tried out their platter for two at R415 sharing ( lamb ribs, chicken strips, two hake, queen prawns, chips & rice) and their famous half a chicken combo at R175 (half a tandoori chicken, with 4 cashmiri prawns served with two sides. We opted for rice & creamy spinach, and their butternut) So yummy! Special mention & a bug thank you to "Ben" our waiter who was amazing!

My most recent visit here was quite good. I went In for a takeaway, the lady who assisted me was very helpful , polite and patient. Our meals were absolutely delicious. NO ONE does prawns like Jimmy's! The lemon butter sauce is their signature sauce, which I've yet to come close to replicating in my own kitchen, and the kashmiri is also amazing. I like that they put effort into presentation even for takeaways. My order was beautifully presented and everything tasted super amazing. The calamari main though was a bit disappointing very small portion for a main meal and at a cost of R150. Thank you to the amazing lady who assisted us, I didn't get her name but she was very kind🌻

I had my sister's Birthday dinner at Jimmy's (Gateway) and it was wonderful. From the food to the service. The table set up was done perfectly. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Nazneem was of great assistance with the booking and details. My family had a great evening and we will definitely be doing it again.

We organised a small party at the Gateway branch - great service , great food and excellent portions . Highly recommend the package options with the table setting option as it is really effortless to organise with management and is true value for money 🙏

Firstly my biggest thanks goes to Sameer. Definitely a great manager roll. We celebrated a birthday and our table set up was done by them. It was everything we wanted and more. The food was amazing and on time. Service is a thumbs up, as they stuck with us through out the event.

Celebrated a milestone at this restaurant and the experience was so special. Amazing food , service and decor . Over all a splendid experience . We were allowed to bring in our cake , and a side table provided for decor which I personally think , makes it very easy for planning. Thank you Jimmy's killer prawn Gateway for making our special days .... more special .

I ordered the mussels with chilli sauce and there were 2 bugs in my food. It was absolutely horrible and traumatic. This restaurant branch needs a health inspection urgently. I would definitely stay far away from it.

On Saturday 9 March 2019 we were at the Gateway Theatre of shopping and decided to get a meal using the Entertainer app. We looked at the options within the mall and came across Jimmy's Killer Prawns. We then looked at the menu on the entertainer, decided on what we would like to eat and then made our way to the restaurant.

We ordered a cheesy garlic bread starter and then the solo seafood platter and a half chicken. The fish was served to us burnt and we asked for it to be replaced.

After our meal, when we requested the bill, we informed the waitron that we will be using the Entertainer. The waitron went to ring up our bill but returned empty handed saying that platters and combos are not valid for discount with the Entertainer.

She then called the manager, Nazneem who was of no help at all. She preached to me that the matter of platters and combos is stated in the terms and conditions of the Entertainer. I proceeded to show her that there is nothing stated and she insisted that there is a disclaimer. She then moved away to make a call and returned. She clicked on my app to redeem the voucher (as if we were using the voucher to pay) and there it says that combos and platters are discounted.

This is ridiculous! That disclaimer is only stated at the option where you pay. By which part the customer has already ordered and eaten their meal. On the Entertainer app, Jimmy's advertised a vast menu and nowhere does it say that all those meals are not legible for the discount.

We combed through the menu thoroughly before even walking to the restaurant. The only reason we went to Jimmy's was for variety (all lies actually) that was available to us. False advertising is ILLEGAL.

The restaurant has massive disclaimers pasted on their doors securing their liability but nowhere do they show any notice that their is a limited menu with the Entertainer. What does that say about their customer service. The waitron did not even verbally inform us that their was a limited menu.

If I had gone to eat at Jimmy's with a limited budget, knowing that I could use the Entertainer and then found out that I had to pay full price, was I supposed to return the food from my belly?

The Manager, who clearly does not know customer service, has the arrogance to say that she does not want us to leave unhappy yet she does nothing to MANAGE the issue. She insists that the advertised menu is a "misprint" on the Entertainer. We know consumer rights on the misprint.

After eating my meal and then dealing with such terrible restaurant management, I feel disgusted for having dined at such a dishonest establishment that relies on entrapment for business.

I had the hot and spicy prawn dish. It was absolutely delicious! I could not stop eating. The sauce was flavourful and spicy. I could not ask for anything more. Loved every bite. will definitely be back.

I don't like to give bad reviews after visiting a restaurant once off as it's not fair to judge on first experience and like to be fair and judge on consistency with the food and service. I ordered pancakes and ice cream. The pancakes was rubbery and stale and went hard with the ice cream in it. I suggested they put the ice cream on the side as no one would ever want to eat pancakes like this and the manger said it's just the way we do it. Sometimes if alot of people complain maybe it's time to change or not serve something that's Always getting complains. Food took very long a d waiters not checking up on the table. Manager didn't check up either but only when I called for him to give feedback on the pancakes

I don’t have strong feelings for Jimmys either way. I see a pic of this Kumpir online and had to go try it. It wasn’t bad...baked potato, prawns, corn, mushrooms, cheese, cheddamelt sauce...nice blend of flavors. But the food wasn’t the hottest. Had a cheesy garlic bread too which was cool’ish

Ordered the ultimate feast platter, expected a full portion of calamari. When the platter arrived there was only 6 tubes, asked the waiter if this is a full portion he said yes. Really disappointed with the food overall. Will never go back

Prawns were really yummy. All the sauces served with the food were delicious. I have never tasted better creamy spinach and butternut, but the steak was terribly overcooked. Definitely not the place for you if you're dieting... All dishes, even the veg and stirfry, have a lot of cream in it.

We had lunch here over the weekend. As we walked into the restaurant, there waz a bad fishy odour inside. We ordered the Feast for 2 platter to share. Service waz quick and our waitress waz friendly. The platter consisted of grilled hake, a large portion of prawns, calamari tubes, chicken strips and four lamb ribs - smothered in their delicious spicy Kashmir sauce. Served with the veg option of creamed spinach and creamy butternut which tastes so yum. The meal waz good and there waz enough prawns, but a part of the fish still had scales on it.

I was at the Umhlanga branch yesterday with a friend for lunch. No wine with our meal was a bit of a downer, but not a deal breaker. My friend had bought a Groupon voucher which was for a shared meal. We had a really good cheesy garlic roll as a starter, BUT, the waiter then bought the main dish at the same time!! We got him to take it back until we were ready or had at least eaten the starter! The main was for 2, which was fine. There were 2 good Hake fillets & 8 prawns which were of average size, some calamari & tumeric rice. The sauce was plentiful but the meal was rather dry. Icecream & chocolate sauce was good. The portion for 2 was more than ample. The service wasn't good at all, at one stage because the waiter was on his cell phone, although he saw me trying to call him twice, I eventually got up & got my own salt pot off another table. It's in a good position but not nearly as good all round as I expected. I won't be back any time soon. Just as well I had excellent company!

I am writing this review for the Jimmy's Killer prawns in Pietermaritzburg. I have always loved Jimmy's Prawn Promise. So had been excited when I had first heard of Jimmy's opening here in PMB and had made a point to get to them as soon as they opened but was sorely disappointed as they did not offer the Prawn Promise on the menu but offered odd Indian inspired meat dishes and as a result did not go back until this last Saturday (24/09/2016). I had thought I would give them a second chance. People be warned. If you are not careful they will rob you blind. On asking the waiter what the special of the day was, he mentioned they had 450g lobster available at R249 which I decided to have. After a short while the manager came to our table to tell me that there was only one lobster left and she had just had a look at it and it was a bit small and would I be okay if they supplement it with 4 king prawns, I agreed.
As soon as the meal arrived, I pointed out to the waiter that it was actually a crayfish and not a lobster, he then argued with me that it was in fact a lobster and that is what they call lobster. Now I fully understand that in some parts of the world, crayfish is called spiny lobster but this is South Africa and here lobster and crayfish are 2 different creatures, furthermore, they have both Lobster and Crayfish on the menu, surely this then means that they acknowledge the difference between the 2 and the staff should then know the difference.
Not being one to make a huge fuss about things decided to try to just have a decent evening and ate the meal. The crayfish was done okay, just smothered and hidden under a copious amount of the Kashmir sauce I ordered it with (perhaps an attempt to cover up the fact that it was not lobster?!?) The prawns overdone and chewy and in my opinion small and did no compensate for the tiny crayfish.
Then to add insult to injury, when the bill arrived, I found that I was being charged R299! for 450g Lobster, which was actually a tiny crayfish 70% of which was not edible. I have never in my life asked to speak to the manager before but this time I felt I had a right to. She insisted it was a lobster, just a small one. I tried to explain that it clearly was a crayfish but she just argued with me and since I had already paid, only made a halfhearted attempt to offer me a free dessert(which I think I already paid for considering I was so grossly over charged). I declined the insincere offer and asked her to please not treat other customers so appallingly in future and please educate the staff and herself on the menu items they are offering and the pricing of SQ items.
Jimmy's you have left a rather sour taste in my mouth, needless to say I will never be dining there again. My advice to other diners, get confirmation of the price and perhaps ask to see the lobster/crayfish/langoustine etc first before ordering it.

My friend and I had lunch there yesterday! The place needs a revamp! It was so untidy and had a really bad smell! The food was cold and after sending it back it still came back cold! The queen prawns was the size of the medium prawns! I felt sick when i got home! It was overall a very bad dining experience! Will never ever eat there again!

I just want to express my appreciation for Jimmy Killer Prawns in Gateway, Durban.. I visited the restaurant with some friends and we had the Millionaires Platter and we topped up our meals with extra King Prawns. The food was absolutely fantastic. I really really enjoyed the food. We had a lovely waiter by the name of "Simba" He was quite a funny guy and made us feel right at home. It's a lovely atmosphere and any person would enjoy the Vibe. Staff are friendly and the manager was great.

I will be going back to visit again. Brilliant place...

HAPPY CUSTOMER :-)

I went here with great expectation with a hungry stomach, but it was a totall disappointment.the first step the waiter came to check for the order after 15 minutes.Asked for the line fish, only to realize it was frozen hake...that too which came after 45 minutes. Will never go back there, neither the service nor the food is good

Decided to have our year end team lunch here the service was okay and the food was good the atmosphere was great too. The only problem I had was that the said that the tip/gratuity would only be added on to the bill if it was 10 ppl or more, our party consisted of 5 ppl and yet they added the gratuity on to our bill which is a bit deceiving. But other than small kinks it was an all in all good experience.
