Good and comfortable place, service was good, food was pretty average though. They do however have some very nice milkshakes.

Great steaks, good service. Steak Bismarck was incredible. Pretty expensive.

Pretty sure that it have been the best restaurant of my life, I would give more than 5 star if I could. Thanks for the amazing night.

Very impressed with the service last week Saturday. Well done to Brandon who deserves more than a 5 star rating. He was on top of things and was very informative about the menu and other weekly specials. Presentation of the food as well as the taste was amazing. Thank you for a great evening. Keep it up.

Piatto is not the cheapest Italian restaurant, but the food is high quality and well presented. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful. All in all a pleasant dining experience. We will eat there again next time we are in the area.

Had a great pizza there with some friends, it is a very quite restaurant, we were the only people there whole we are. Nevertheless the pizza was fantastic. The whole vibe of the place was chilled and relaxed and the service was great. Would recommend for a relaxed quiet time to chat with mates.

Every time we stay in Umhlanga we make a point of going to Piatto, lovely food and great service from Stanley every time. He remembered our order a year later, top guy

Cosy restaurant with good food especially the Veg pizza. Good service at Gateway. Unfortunately, the best branch was in North Beach but has subsequently closed.

Piatto is by far one of the best restaurants in Gateway. Food is always cooked to perfection. Will definitely recommend to friends and family

I hosted an anniversary dinner here. It was very good service, and the dinner was of a high quality. I can definitely recommend the steak!

Warm cosy atmosphere. Very comfortable for children. The food was tasty and well served.

The breakfast was good value for your money as we had the special with the coffee. The service was slow and there was only 2 other tables full. Food was average and something I make better at home. It's like they aren't even Trying to get more customers.

I was very happy with the first visit to this establishment. Waiter was friendly and food was very tasty, my husband on the other hand was unhappy. His steak was undercooked and the starter tasted like metal.<br/>We tried again a second time. My haloumi (had that the previous time) was rock hard. My husband had snails, the bread was burnt black and as hard as can get.<br/>Overall very unhappy, wanted to give this place a second chance. :(

Just know that I've been here 2 Tuesdays in a row for their pasta and pizza specials with a complimentary glass of wine is a must have! They serve authentic tasty food at reasonable prices! Their portions are huge and their Services is even greater. My friendly waiter Stanley is sure to see me there again. I'd recommend the Al Chicken pasta in a Rosè sauce, chicken alfredo pasta, sweet chilli chicken pizza or their BBQ chicken pizza. Oh and their squid heads starter is the freshest most crispiest ever! You won't leave disappointed!

Popped in to Piatto for a pizza after a movie last week. The pizza was really good, and confirmed to me I'm definitely a thin crust girl. The service was good too.

Been here a couple of times, enjoyed my experience at every visit. Beautiful, peaceful and elegant are the words that best describes this restaurant. <br/><br/>We had an extremely sweet and talkative waiter, who contributed to the delightful experience. I ordered the prawn and avo salad. Unfortunately, I expected more from the meal, especially as it was quite pricey for a salad. There were only two pieces of prawn and a ton of lettuce and peppers. Personally, I found it to be bland and not worth my money. My friend had the grilled chicken breast with fries. She was completely satisfied with her meal, and would recommend this to anyone who visits this restaurant. The chips were fresh and the chicken was tender, perfectly cooked with a marinate of delicious tomato based sauce, although she added quite a bit of hot sauce to give it that extra something-something.<br/><br/>My previous experiences have also been delightful, therefore I would recommend this place if you want a quite relaxing-yet luxuriant meals, as this restaurant is cultivated on its elegance.

Although their decor and ambience is lovely, their food is lacking ... neither the pizzas nor the pasta taste good... expected more from this pretty looking restaurant ...

Mozzarella and garlic foccacia starter followed by sirloin mains. Waitrons should be assisted with larger parties as most of our orders were incorrect. Chilli, garlic and parmasan were served half way through eating the foccacia starter. Incorrect orders were served as mains. Disappointing service. However, the sour apple martini is delicious.

Dinner with family , food was good but manager told us drinks and cocktails are 50% till 6 pm so ordered couple jack black beers and when bill came was full price .<br/>Manager and waiter did not tell us certain beers are full price, was not happy but paid the bill

Amazing!! I've been to about 5 Piatto's and this Piatto takes the cake... Wooden interior, cool, calm and breezy. Our waitress was a pleasure, great service. The food was delicious.. Cajun chicken salad with Tzaziki leaves my mouth watering.. Love it when restaurants can get the Tzaziki just right as so many fail. Also liked the new additions to the menu like focaccia board with hummus, feta & olives and garlic butter 😝😍

Hadn't been here in a while so it was a nice surprise to see the upgrades done. Better furniture, lighting and dare I say, staff? The new setting is soft and romantic and perfect for a late afternoon-night date. The staff is friendly and approachable and the food was good. For a great budget-saver treat, go for the Treat-Yourself-Tuesday special which is Pizza and Wine for 60 bucks! Definitely looking forward to taking my friends there!

What a disaster! Was there with 6 others on Saturday for lunch. Poor service. 3 different waiters. Food was slow and tasteless. They were out of some of the specials. Far cry from how they used to be.

My food was absolutely cold when it arrived . I sent it to get reheated and it came back after 15 minutes or longer . When we complained to the manager about the poor service , she was extremely rude and unprofessional and asked us , " why didn't you tell me this when I came to check on you "! Piatto needs to get rid of her as a manager and because of her I will never be going back there. To top this all off , I found two cockroaches in the bathroom . Piatto ?? Never again !!

Used to have Piatto as a kid so decided to go back and have it again. The restaurant is spacious and the inside seating is the best for me. We dived straight into mains I had the prawns with garlic butter and Sashen had the hake thermidor. We enjoyed both dishes, we did feel like the hake was slightly over cooked and the chips were also a little limp overall though a nice spot that has a variety on their menu.

Was here over December 2015 two occasions . Surprisingly empty when other restaurants were full.... From the time I walked into the door till I left. The service was exceedingly great. The waiter was spot on with his recommendations. He knew what he was doing and added some humour to it. The food came and it was amazeballs. I had a lamb dish, the actual name of it has left me. But it was great. Thank you for the amazing dining experience. They also have some craft beers which I thought was fantastic.

We visited for lunch and found Piatto to be very overpriced for what you get. There are no simple cheaper options on the menu, and even the starters are too expensive for a light lunch out. We ordered salads at R80-90 each. These promised to be amazing but were not generous at all -the prawn and avo salad was a simple green salad with 3 prawns and half a small avo. My haloumi salad had 3 small pieces of hamloumi with the same green salad & half an avo. I could have made this at home.<br/><br/>Having said that, service was polite if a little unattentive, and the place is clean with a good atmosphere, great decor & lighting.

Brought wife and six month old here for lunch whilst on holiday on a Monday. We found the service to fantastic and very attentive and helpful with our little one. The food was top notch and overall experience very enjoyable.

Just another restaurant,was a disappointment expecting great food and service after the refurbishment.The basic was lost..fresh food.The fish finger for kids were quite old from the freezer.The food took more than 45 minutes to cook,Eventhoug it was very quite on a Sunday afternoon.After waiting for so long,the burgers was just ok.You could see from the staffs service,they not interested.

Visited the revamped Piato at Gateway this evening and was delighted by the food, exceptional service and atmosphere. Also impressed by the Piatto branding on wet wipes, toothpicks and condiment packaging. Well done to Zanele, Trisha and GMs.. will definitely be visiting again!

Love love love this restaurant, been here sooo many times and tried sooo many meals. Alot of variety, breakfast and supper options are great! Nice interior and good service. Good quality of food. :-)

Worst service iv ever received in my life! <br/>Waiter took forever to see to us, even tho the restaurant was not busy the food took a lifetime to arrive!!!!!! I will never go back to this place! food is okay......... service is beyond pathetic!

First and last time at piatto gateway. Food looks good but tastes horrible. Service was beyond pathetic and the wait for the food was long. I wouldn't go there again.

Service is non existent. We waited 15 minutes for a waiter then after placing our order they asked us 20 minutes later what we ordered? Avoid this place !

Piatto Gateway had extremely bad service when my friend and I went in. From seating, services and food! Very disappointing! We did not even have a proper waiter/waitress. We had about 3 people see to us. It took about 30 minutes to get served , that to only for drinks! And 15 minutes later for food, only for them to tell us that the food we ordered was not in stock or was very "dry". We ordered about 3 different meals because every time the waiter/waitress and even called for the manager and even the manager took our order, they came back telling us that the food is out of stock. Manager also did not know what she was doing and she running everything should know exactly whats in stock in the restaurant! Knowing what's not in stock, they should INFORM their customers before customers make their order! Also if they know customers say that certain foods are "dry" , why are they still serving it or not improving the dish! Knowing it's a busy period/festive season , they need to have enough well trained staff and waiters/waitresses. Instead of chasing away customers. We ended up walking out and had a good meal and service else where. And this was not the first time i had a problem with service at Piatto Gateway... #Disappointed!!!

It has a menu that is delightful.... The friendly staff, make it an easy choice... With an excellent starters to fantastic mains! It's a tantalising experience a must have if you are in umhlanga - satisfy the craving
