Review Rocomamas Gateway - Umhlanga Rocks

My visit to Rocomamas left me thoroughly impressed. The burgers were nothing short of delicious, with a perfect balance of flavors and a juicy patty. The customizable options allowed me to create a Southern Fried Chicken burger. I also tried the hot wings with a ranch dip and Nutella and Banana Waffle. The service was prompt, and the staff was friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. The unique and vibrant atmosphere added to the enjoyment. If you're a burger enthusiast, Rocomamas Gateway is a must-try for a mouthwatering and satisfying meal.

Burgers are always soo good, its my go to when I'm craving a good burger. Tried the Nutella and banana waffle which was amazing! Oh and the Cheesy fries are heavenly.

The food never disappoints. One must come knowing it won't likely ever be fast service. We waited 35min for our burgers 🍔 but man, they were goooooood. Wait staff was friendly. Our 1st server didn't know the menu very well, but the guy who came later was shaaap. Inside was NOISY as all Rocomammas seem to be. We sat outside in the breeze.

RocoMamas never disappoints. The wait staff at Gateway are super friendly, the food was super fresh and came out quick despite the restaurant being quite full. Westville RocoMamas was my usual spot, might have to change that to Gateway.

Excellent service, amazing food 😍😁😁 first time trying RocoMamas and it was just wow. Everything was delicious 👌Zama our waitress was a superstar and so was the rest of the team.

Awsome service, waiters are impeccable, quick service, beer is cold. Food is absolutely scrumptious!! A must visit for a night out. Parking is a bit of a mission, but you dont come here for the parking, its the food and the buzz

Awesome atmosphere. Can be a little nippy inside when it's cold so bring a light sweater. Staff are friendly. Menu is simple and awesome. Food is great. Milkshakes are unrivalled. Cheesy string fries must be eaten while hot! Portions are big so most people wouldn't finish a regular burger, small chips and a milkshake without being lethargic afterward.

Nice vibey restaurant, just very crowded. Burgers we ordered were good, bacon and cheese fries were awesome. Loved the "build your own burger" section on the menu.

The RocoMamas Gateway branch is an especially fun and trendy part of the franchise, not only does it boast an unconventional yet comfortable and unique atmosphere, the food is absolutely flavourful! The waiting time is not ridiculously long and neither are the menu options boring and bland. The menu itself is a very interesting part of the meal choosing process with a variety of options and the opportunity to mix and match some if your favourite meal items,whether you're a meat or veggie lover. The meals themselves are value for money, and have lovely presentation. In fact, the waffles I'd ordered were large enough to share, and so are many of the other menu options. I highly recommend a visit at this restaurant if you're a fan of good vibes and great aura. The staff are friendly and attentive, the shakes are to die for(literally, with their slow death by chocolate,a personal favourite) ,the food is delectable, and hold up,there are no PLASTIC STRAWS, which is highly commendable! The one star lost was solely because of the damaged cutlery(Forks), that clipped and gripped my younger sister's lips quite a few times during her meal due to bent prongs, but other than that, the place was brilliant,so just go and thank me later!

This is such an amazing and vibrant place. The service is great and the food is delicious. I dont go often but whenever I go it definitely lives up to my expectations. The burgers and fried chips with cheese sauce are so so so delicious I cant get enough of them. Plus the Death by Chocolate shake is amazing. I'm a chocolate lover and it really does hit the spot everytime I have it. You should definitely try this place out whenever you are at tha Gateway Shopping Mall.

I have to mention this as my partner and myself have gone to MANY restaurants all over the country over the past 8 years and have been to many RocoMamas outlets but RocoMamas Gateway has to be the best experience by far as your manager Sdumo and his ENTIRE team are absolutely remarkable.   The ambience they give off, the welcome we received and their service and food is absolutely impeccable.   They made us feel like we were absolute royalty.  Such fun I have to say.   I truly believe that ALL your staff throughout the country should be trained by them. I want to say THANK YOU so much for this experience and I really believe that they are a true ASSET to your franchise. They most certainly need to be rewarded for their unbelievable service.   I rate them 5 Star and more.... if there was such an option. Back to Johannesburg for us tomorrow and I am so grateful for them who made our last evening at the coast (for now) so worthwhile.

The food is AMAZING I would definitely be recommending it to everyone I know and I will definitely be going back. It was my first time eating Roco mamas and it definitely gave me a great first impression

Had great service from my waitress Zee, who explained the menu nicely and was very patient. Also great service from the duty manager Sdumo who ensured everything was perfect on my tablet.

The service was so so awesome. As much as our waiter had his hands full with other patrons but he still managed to cater to our every needs. I will be making Rocomamas the venue for my LunchDos with my bestie many atimes in future.

The best burger I had in SA. I ordered the Rockstar which was perfectly cooked. It was soft and juicy. But the size was massive but I finished it. Yup

Rocomamas never fails to impress me. There meals are hearty and portion sizes plentiful. Their spices and ingredients used are delicious. The standards of this Rocomamas were met. The outlet was a bit busy though. It’s a convenient location with delicious food and good service

Service is great, the burgers are juicy and amazing. I tried the milkshakes , its nice though abit thick and the biscuits is soft. Would recommend you try out their food its really delicious.

Very tasty burgers, and the cheesy sauce on the chips is yummy... chilled spot to catch up with friends I guess or if you feeling for a good burger. Not much else on the menu... my partner liked their chicken wings as well... Cool place ...

If you're looking for a good burger that will fill you up then this is the place to go, being able to build your own burger exactly how you want it gives you every reason to keep going back for more. In addition to the the great burger, the wings, ribs and shakes are also pretty amazing.

Rocomama burgers are the type everyone should atleast taste once in their life. The quality is consistent through out every branch I've been to. To drink I ordered passion fruit and lemonade and to my surprise it came premixed (didn't know they do that nowadays) - horrible but that's not the main focus here so I'll let it slide.<br/><br/>To eat I had the chilli cheese bomb. Beef patty, bacon, chilli and cheese is one beautiful combination! I popped in for a quick lunch between meetings. The service was fast and efficient. It didn't take very long for our order to arrive. I ordered the mushroom swizz with a veg patty - the burger looked very underwhelming when it arrived but the taste was great. I really enjoyed the veg patty! Definitely want to try some of the other burgers. <br/><br/>P. S. I love their menu setup / presentation, unique and fun.

Burgers here are good. Chips 🍟 just okay. The staff is friendly which makes a visit there enjoyable. Food takes a while to get to you but a fun and chilled place. The menu is a little too busy. Too many boxes to tick you're bound to end up having what u didn't intend having

I always enjoy coming to Rocomama's for a good filling meal. This time was no different. I ordered the old school burger with some extra toppings & I also had the (hot) buffalo wings. I thoroughly enjoyed them both. My only disappointment was that the wings have now changed from being grilled to crumbed - which is not usually my first choice, but I still really enjoyed them nonetheless. The service is also very good - we had a lovely waitress who was very attentive.

I had a good experience at Rocomamas. The restaurant has both an inside and outside seating option. Customers can write their names on the menu and this makes the menu more personal. There are different burger options available and you can downsize or upsize the size of the buger patties. This option is great for those who want a smaller, standard or larger sized burger patty. For those who want to build your own burger, this option is available too. The food is presented on wooden boards which gives the restaurant a cool rustic feel. The shoestring fries are flavourful and crispy. The gourmet milkshakes are delicious. The service is good and the staff are friendly too. The restaurant also has free Wi-Fi available for its customers.

Just seeing the menu upon sitting hypes you up! You get to write your name and maybe even personalise it! The burgers are good, not great though. You also get a choice to make your own, which is a picky eater's dream! The killer flapjax and indulgent milkshakes is what makes my Rocomamas trips special!

Just one bite and I was hooked. This was simply the best burger ever. Succulent chicken breast, topped with crispy fried bacon, aged cheddar, tomato, guacamole, red onion, smoked mayo... I was in burger heaven. The vegetarian version was equally delish and crammed full of equally yummy bits that had us having a marvellous party in our mouths

The food is great so is the service. I tried the bacon burger, nachos and chips. Honestly, best beef burger I've tasted. Im just not a fan of eating from a board, I prefer eating from a proper plate but that's just my preference. Chips are so fresh and tasty! Place has a great vibe, loved the service.

I used to be a regular at Rocomamas.Their burgers are really good, my all time favorite is the chilli cheese bomb.Their cheesy fries is a must! Sadly though their prices have been increasing exponentially since they opened, and the quality has declined. Rocomamas is commercializing their brand too fast.The gateway branch never has any craft beers in stock and their wings are terrible.

Took the family along to Rock mamas in Gateway for a bit of lunch. The service was great, a bit of a wait for the food, but it truly was worth the wait. We devoured our meals quite happily, the only issue was the music volume for my Fiancé mum, but that was quickly resolved after a quick chat with our waiter. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant which made the experience much better.

I love that you can get your hands all messed while eating these burgers. Really adds to the experience of going here. I think the vegetable burgers are just as good as the meat ones.

Pit stop to Rocomamas Gateway.<br/><br/>All this hype about The Donald burger but was just mediocre.<br/><br/>Had my usually ' make my own burger '-chicken, bacon, mozzarella and carmslised onions.<br/><br/>Jack black draft was light and to my liking.<br/><br/>Only downfall was the glasses was not clean and had to ask twice for new ones.

It waz my second time eating at this joint yesterday. The restaurant waz packed to capacity at lunch time. Must say I quite like their chicken smashburger, and the caramelised onions added a nice juicy flavour to it. Service waz spot on. The waiter Thobani waz very friendly and polite. He would serve well as restaurant manager instead, as he had excellent people and communication skills. <br/>They should invent a fish smashburger as well. That would be yummy.

First time trying Rocomamas this past weekend. It felt like a mix of Hudson's and Steers. Wasn't in the mood for a burger so I decided to go with hot wings. Probably some of the best buffalo wings I've had thus far. Really spicy and flavourful.<br/><br/>Another thing I really enjoyed was the order system. Found the novelty of it all really cool. Service was also quite good. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating and the managers came to check on our table more than once. Great first time experience.

Great as always! Luckily the place was not busy at all so service went quickly. Tried their election burgers and was delicious as always! A must if you are in town and want good burgers!

Had lunch with the family for the 1st time at Rocca Mama's ( I know long overdue) The food was AMAZING I orderd the Donald and I may have gone a little trigger happy with the extra's but it was well worth it. Rich in flavour amd with a taste unique to anything on offer anywhere else Rocca Mama's is definitely the premium place for burgers in durban. The only downside was service was a bit on the slow side but since the food was worth the wait Im going to let it slide coz truth be told they were extremely busy. Will Definitely be going again soon!!!

Rocomamas is a great fast food restaurant, the ambiance is great it had a cool vibe.... the staff is friendly but the service isn't that great I've been there twice and on both occasions the fries arrived way after the burgers had arrived and we had to wait a while for our waiter could bring us our bill because he just went mia.. I just really hope they improve on their service but other than that its a nice place..

Always great value for money, fast friendly service. We love this chain of burger joints for a quick lunch. Will be sure to visit again when in area.

I will be honest and say that the Durban North Rocomamas was much better. The vibe was better. A lot of waitresses just standing around and not helping those that are busy. Their hamburgers are amazing and that is at all Rocomamas.

Food was great but the wait for it was horrendous. An 1/30mins for burgers is too long. I don't think I'd go back and if anyone is interested in going, during the week is probably best. Also, I think there should be full meals to choose from instead of just throwing sides together.Matapelo Cele

Very similar to the Mackeurtan installment but with an obviously more mall atmosphere! #smashburgers #fries and craft beer is a definite crowd pleaser! I Am always up for their new special edition burgers! The bigger and cheesier the better!

This rustic American inspired place hosts a cool create your own burger menu. The food is served in such generous portions and still so reasonably priced. The burgers are not your average franchise type and are tasty. Service was great.

Loved the vibe as soon as you walk in. Staff are extremely friendly. The decor was on point. And the interactive menu was a nice touch. The burgers are excellent and the milkshakes are even better. Definitely a place to visit with a group of friends or family. The only down side is that it sometimes gets so busy you have to wait in line. But that shows how good they are.

Great wholesome rustic food served by friendly staff to a very grateful stomach. I recommend the chilli cheese bomb. Don't have the sweet fire ribs unless you don't wanna feel your lips.

Been to a few Rocomamas. Food is always good, the burgers are amazing and we tried the ribs for a change which were also nice. The staff were so nice and very accommodating of the fact we had small children with us.

Awesome food, awesome decor, awesome service. Could easily be a 5/5 but my food was taking slightly longer to arrive than my hungover body could enjoy... Unique burgers is definitely their speciality

Went here on what is possibly their busiest night a Saturday during month end,the service was really good, prompt and very friendly staff the place is exceptionally loud but that's to be expected considering it's "rock n roll" vibe. The food was excellent the burger was moist and the perfect size the teriyaki wings were delicious. Will definitely go back

After visiting a branch in Joburg, this one did not live up to expectations. The service was poor at first, someone took half the drinks order then left. My friend's Jack Black was waiting on the bar for ages before he asked for it to be brought to him. We were eventually assigned a new waiter who was great. <br/><br/>I enjoyed the veg patty and felt that they were generous with the toppings. The chips were well flavoured but my sister felt they were too salty. My friends felt the beef patty and wings were below average. Additionally the wings were overpriced considering the size of each wing. Another friend found strips of something hard in her burger and the manager said it was the caramalised onions that were overcooked. They made a new burger and handled it well. <br/><br/>Overall we enjoyed the vibe but were disappointed by the service and average food. Probably won't make a trip back here anytime soon. <br/><br/>

Another Rocomammas tried & tasted; and I left satisfied again. This one in gateway was full for a Tuesday night but service was good. Went with the Chilli cheese bomb (again) without the fresh chillies tho this time...really good. So glad this is part of their menu now.

Really awesome place! The way you order is pretty cool - you get a checklist of ingredients and you basically build a burger to your liking. There's also space for your name on your order, so the waiters call you by your name! Very nice touch. The food was great, with really good quality ingredients. One negative is that the seating area is a little crowded.

Went to the rocomamas in gateway after trying the one in durban north. We weren't too pleased with the food although the taste was good, the food was cold and the chips were oily definitely won't go back to the gateway branch but the Durban North location has my heart and stomach

I enjoyed the set up of Rocomamas and the way the waiters greet customers when they walk in with such enthusiasm. I built my own burger and it was mouth watering. I'm definitely going back for their ribs and wings on my cheat days

So we decided on something more casual for dinner tonight, and since we'd never tried it, even at home, we decided to give Roccomamas a swirl.<br/>Trendy, vibey, but very loud. And umm. The craft beer menu is bigger than the wine selection which is restricted to red or white. That's it. And then you get it in a dinky soda glass. I'm not white trash, so drinking wine in a soda glass didn't do it for me. And then it was a bit (or a lot horrible). Decided to change my order to the ladies size Pilsner beer and it was fantastic! Not like the pilsner in Germany but jolly close. What a refreshing surprise!<br/>We ordered 4 wings with buffalo basting. Granted the pick and make your own selection papers did warn that it was (hot). Holy cow and how! The ranch sauce accompaniment was lack luster and lacking in any flavour. <br/>Thankfully when our burgers did arrive, the patty was still juicy and succulent. <br/>Unfortunately there was something VERY cold on the burger, but we were not sure if it was the sauce or garnish which spoilt the overall experience. Room temperature to our liking would have made it better, but each to their own. <br/>Unfortunately with a 150g patty and no option to downsize, pudding was off the cards. <br/>Overall a trendy vibey loud experience. And I've done it now. Not entirely sure I'll do it again.

Absolutely delicious food. I've tried their wings, which are really good. Such a great concept creating your own burger- totally satisfying. Their G shakes are also pretty good. Our waiter corrected any errors in our order in no time and made sure we received good service.
