Great staff, friendly and helpful. Come here if you want a good hearty steak or delicious soft fish. Their fries were a good portion size and not oily at all. Particularly liked their olive and garlic snack they have on the table once being seated, it was so addictive. Situated in a quiet, spacious spot. Definely good for a family affair or dinner date.
Wonderful meal very good service. Starters out of this world. Must have the marrow bones. Sirloin on the bone also highly recommended. Veggies fresh chips nice and crispy .

Have always enjoyed my meals at The Hussar. Consistently good steaks at average prices. Their green peppercorn sauce is one of the best I've had. Good atmosphere and decent service. Good lunch specials running from time to time too. My only complaint was that my medium well steak was more medium verging on medium rare but still very tasty. Veggie chips instead of chips as a free appetizer which is a nice touch.
Always wanted to find out what the hype was about the Huassar grill and wow, was I not disappointed. When walking into the restaurant it has that warm , cozy ,relaxing feel to it . The ambience is great and service levels outstanding ..
I Tried the Madagascan pepper fillet . Yum yum yum !!! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water again.. It is one of the best fillets I've had in a long time .. I cannot wait to try all of their other signature steak dishes ..

They have really nice food. The steak is amazingly cooked. The prices are a bit steep but it's nice to spoil yourself once in a while. I won't visit often, but will definitely be satisfied when I do.
I love Hussar Grill and the Tokai branch definitely lives up to the name. Of course, visiting this steakhouse you can't go wrong with a rump or sirloin steak with one of their signature sauces. The hog ribs are also excellent if you're not in the mood for steak. I also love that Hussar Grill doesn't charge corkage, ever, so you can bring your own win!
Firstly, the service is exceptional. Ask for Rodo when you're there. What an absolute star! It was fairly busy for a Monday night, but we had the patio all to ourselves which was great. Otherwise the mushroom starter, & steak is incredible. Well that's what Hussar Grill is known for right, so it didn't disappoint. I definitely will be returning.
3 great steaks. All different and all good. Reliable quality as I've been here on a few occasions and good meals every time.

Six of us enjoyed a birthday meal out at The Hussar Grill in Steenberg this past Saturday. All our meals were delicious. But most impressive of all was the really responsive waitering by our waiter, Dudley. When our meals arrived, the men noticed that their meals seemed similar in size when one of the meals should've been a half portion. They commented on this to each other jokingly. Our waiter overheard. Next thing we know, the manager arrives to rectify the problem. Agrees with the men and immediately offers to up the portions of the two other meals, which they do quickly and professionally. It was a hot evening and our table position was under some hot lighting. Again, one of our members commented to another that this was the case. Almost immediately our lighting suddenly dimmed and the air con seemed to be increase. All the time our needs were taken care of quickly and unobtrusively. It was a fantastic meal, great company and a lovely evening out that was made all the better by Dudley who served us with top class. Thank you!
We called to make a reservation, however the person on the other side of the line did not even take down our details,he almost hung up without asking for my name or number. Needless to say when we got there, our name was not on the reservation list. Luckily there was an open table and we could be seated. Unfortunately the sause that arrived with the steak was ice cold, so why would I give Hussars grill a 4.5, well everything else was beyond perfect, for years I have been craving a good steak, something better than I could make at home, and for years I have failed to find any restaurant that could satisfied my craving, until last night that is. The steak was mouth watering good and to top it off the recommended wine went hand in hand with the main course. I was pleased to see that the dessert was not some cheap ice cream bought at the local shop but rather a delicious unexpected treat. I will definitely be back for more.
Recently went for a family supper to The Hussar Grill. The supper was delicious. We ordered two madagascan pepper fillets, one spare ribs, and one parmesan chicken breast. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals with few 'complaints'. Having read the dessert menu (and being a sweet tooth family) we were very keen. We ordered a chocolate fondant, two ganache pies and an ice cream cake. The fondant was yummy and so was the ice cream cake. The ganache pie left us a bit underwhelmed. It was grainy, as if it had undissolved sugar in it, yet it claimed to only be made with chocolate and cream. It was an expensive but enjoyable night. Will be back for special occasions.
Our first time visiting and definitely not our last. Our waiter Stanley was excellent and suggested their house specialties on the menu as we found it difficult to settle on a dish amongst all the amazing choices. For starters I recommend the mushrooms with spinach and grilled feta. For mains - a must try Madagascan Peppercorn Fillet and for dessert I highly recommend getting the creme brulee! One of the best I have tasted thus far!
I think we’ve found our new favourite steakhouse! We visited Hussar Grill Constantia recently and it seriously ticked all the boxes for us. Food, atmosphere, service and overall vibe were bang on… and don’t even get us started on the warm chocolate vodka… which has honestly been on our mind pretty much every day since.
For starters we ordered the soup of the day (oxtail) and the salad – the soup was warm and hearty with crisp bruchetta for dunking and the salad was light, crisp and a really refreshing start to the night. For mains we ordered the 200g rump steak with veggies and the rib and calamari combo with chips – the steak was cooked to perfection (as expected) with creamed spinach and butternut (our favourite) and the ribs were all kinds of fall of the bone goodness. For dessert, we were sent a little glass of warm and gooey chocolate vodka – drooooool! Do yourself a flavour and visit Hussar Grill for one of these bad boys immediately.

Food is excellent. Simple steakhouse type menu. The quality could not be faulted. very reasonably priced, a wine list to satisfy all palates.

A bit pricey but the food is worth it. Probably one of the best steaks and lamb shank in Cape Town. Service is always above Par.
If the men in my life have something to celebrate, this is where we come to do it. A family dinner at Hussar can work our quite pricey so for us, it's a special occasions rather than a regular haunt. As far as steak houses go, I don't think there is beating Hussar in Cape Town. The food quality is certainly consistent and I appreciate that there is a good selection of smaller steaks on the menu too. Starters, sides and desserts are classic steak house fare - escargot, creamed spinach, ice cream sundae .... What's not to love!
This is my favourite restaurant in the southern suburbs. Incredibly good steak, and very high quality of service. The atmosphere is also fantastic. Make sure to book as they get busy!
For everyone living or passing through Cape Town this is a must do !! We've been here countless times for various occasions. Excellent food, especially the steaks, and really friendly waiters. Don't miss out !
I've never been to the original Hussar Grill, but I find it hard to believe it would beat this one. Located in a great centre close to several neighbourhoods, lots of parking, not a mission to find or get to.
The layout of the restaurant is lovely - a little front room with some dining tables and a gorgeous gas fireplace, which I admit I cuddled right up to in winter. Then down a small passageway, there are two larger and more open areas at the back. Dark wood and textiles give it a very dramatic and secluded feel and makes it perfect for a romantic dinner for two.
The food is absolutely delicious, especially the Parmesan chicken breasts - divine!
I highly recommend this Hussar Grill for a classy date night!
A wonderful atmosphere and an excellently priced meal. The steaks here are easily some of the best I've ever had. On top of that the calamari sticks which I order everywhere I go were absolutely a top 2 of all time for me. The date for 2 menu I ordered from provided a bottle of wine, 2 steak dinners, snails in garlic sauce, calamari and , 2 creme brulee's. All of which were delicious. I left being far more full than I would have expected. The service was top tier and the serving staff working with our table were friendly, accommodating, and willing to make suggestions when asked. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. They do seem to get very busy, so call in for a reservation, especially with a larger group.

Had the lamb shank and when I tell you it was huge it was huge, don’t get me started on the taste. Definitely a must have when you visiting.
Not only was the food amazing service was great and then at the end of your meal you get a free chocolate moose with a kick. Best pallet cleanser. Highly recommend a visit.
The Steenberg branch of the Hussar Grill is fantastic. We went on a Sunday so the restaurant was not extremely busy which was perfect for our date night. The food was good , our steaks were of excellent quality..I found the cheesecake a bit disappointing, (I initially wanted to order the Death by Chocolate dessert but they were out of stock) but my partner thoroughly enjoyed his crème brullee. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back for more steaks in future!
Every visit to this exceptional, atmospheric 'steakhouse' is memorable and fulfilling. The little touches, such as welcome olives, chips and/or biltong and the complimentary chocolate vodka just add to the experience. Then there's the food itself... it's perfect! If you enjoy a steak, it will be made exactly as you order it! The vegetables are as good as any you will taste. The service is attentive and the waitrons know their menu well and are helpful with recommendations. The manager has an awesome sense of humour. The no-corkage fee is an added bonus too. Highly recommended.
I went there tonight not expecting much. I was blown away by the service, outstanding wine and quality of ingredients. Joyce is worthy of working with Gordon Ramsey at the London. The 200g rump steak was perfectly cooked and super tender. Portions are small and I edit this review because I ate at a competitor September 13.Value not as good as competition. Still good but if you know where to go you have serious competition.
Great place to go for ladies night out. The food was amazing. My friend tried the Eiland steak, and cannot say enough about it, how tasty it was. Our waitress was very attentive. And to top it off was there specialty chocolate vodka martini. I would definitely recommend them.
The food was amazing. The Ostrich Steak was cool exactly as ordered. Lamb shank was soft and cooked perfectly, falling off the bones. The flavors were also spot on. Starters, and deserts were also incredible.
The only reason this doesn't get a 5 star, is because I think they may have been short staffed for a Saturday evening.
The waiter was extremely busy, forgot to bring the wine list when asked, a cocktail took 30 minutes to get to the table, and then the desert menu was also forgotten and had to be asked for twice. This would have been fixed if there was even one more waiter on the floor.
Only reason I'm marking the food down is the steak , as it was under seasoned. It was very well cooked and juicy and tender The spinach and butternut was great, and the calamari was awesome! Very tasty and well cooked! and the ice cream and chocolate sauce was amazing! Service was really attentive!
