Review Tredici - Swellendam

Stefan Bussels
A kind of deli/ lunch/ wine/ general stuff-place. Can’t say I love the combo but I do think they know what they’re doing. We just ordered some cake and coffee and well- we didn’t need food that night because- pfooo that’s some big cake. Coffee was nice and I think their selection of products and foodstuffs are fun.

I had the most delicious breakfast at Tredici. Our waitress, Janet, was so kind and attentive, and I throughly enjoyed my meal. Will definitely be coming back again!

Top notch establishment. You would never think that a gorgeous, expansive Italian cafe exists in the middle of rural South Africa, but think again. The menu is huge and everything is delicious. Red cappuccino was top for me. Great spot !!!

This was one of the best meals we had on our entire trip to Cape Town and the Garden Route! The chicken pasta and mushroom gnocchi are TO DIE FOR 😍 The building is also so beautiful with gorgeous views from the interior on top. Friendly waiters top the whole experience. Definitely worth the stop! 💯

Hands down the best place in Swellendam. The decor, the atmosphere, the food!!! We had an absolutely gorgeous afternoon here and we will certainly be returning regularly.

Had a quick lunch here while on the garden route drive. Great burger, good tasting bread, and a lovely vibe altogether!

I had an amazing experience at Tredici. I would highly recommend this place. I had the red lentil and butternut soup and it was amazing. The risotto balls were delicious the sauce was so good. I had a tagliatelle with chicken and butternut and it was super delicious. The lamb burger was also so good I just didn’t like the bread it was on. It made it difficult to eat it. The service was amazing. Cheslin was a wonderful waiter. Loved his personality and the food came out quite quick. They also have a shop section with amazing gifts, wines, jams and sauces. Such cute things to buy

The food was absolutely amazing. The fishcakes were excellent, and the pasta with butternut was delicious with a very generous portion. The service and the atmosphere were great. The location is also perfect for anyone who is travelling through the Garden Route. I highly recommend this place!

We stopped here on our trip home, it's conveniently situated next to the main road, the interior is beautifully furnished and very welcoming. Our coffee and cakes were delicious and promptly served by our very courteous waitron. Well recommended, we'll be back

Great stop. Great food. Great view. The place is a little expensive (40 bucks for a flat white) but it was a good cuppa. Not much for kids to do but as a quick pit stop it’s good particularly at 7am

If ever there was a restaurant that made you feel like a millionaire without costing you an arm and a leg, this is one of them! Incredible service, charming atmosphere and Michelin quality food, all in one place, "Tredici!" A must visit!

A pleasant surprise! Love the venue, the good food and the great service. They are very busy during the season, but still cater to your needs. Their shop is packed with luxury goodies from halva chocolate spread to wonderful baked goodies. They have tables outside, inside and upstairs. We had a burger and a chicken Caesar salad for lunch. Their food is very good and the portions are massive. Well worth a visit.

I've only been here once or twice. I've had Shakshuka here while eating in. It was great. Their coffee is great as well, and their brownies are some of the best I've had. I've only experienced friendly staff and the venue itself is beautiful.

Busy place with lots of 'this and that' to buy. Decent food. Not your average fast food. Recommend for those taking a slower road trip.

Ambiance on the 2nd floor is really nice not so look overcrowded unlike on the groundfloor. Dont sit there because all customers/shoppers coming in & out! There is a shop inside the restaurant this make the whole place looks crowded. We had breakfast there & food was ok.

The place is nice but the poorest service I had experience in a while. We waited for drinks for over than 15 minutes. The waiter said they are busy, well really?? obviously is a lunch time. But they do not look busy as half of the staff just hangs around...we will not stop here again!....on top of it I had a fly in my cup...and hair sticked on my plate (bonus)

We went to Tredici for breakfast after spending a few days with a group of friends just outside of Swellendam. We thought this would be the perfect place to end off an amazing holiday together. How wrong we were! We were a table of 8 people, and we arrived at the restaurant at 08:00 in the morning. Behind our table was a big bucket, with a stream of water pouring out of the downlight in the ceiling. This was not ideal, but we decided to try and ignore it and rather focus on having a good time and enjoying our farewell breakfast. The restaurant was not full when we got there, but still we received very poor service. We waited quite a while for our drinks and then decided to order immediately. We especially went at 08:00 as some of our friends needed to drive all the way back to Johannesburg on that day and we wanted to be done by around 09:00. We ordered...and then waited. When asking the waiter for feedback on our order, he immediately turned defensive and handled us with quite an attitude. We told him that we've waited for close to 40 minutes, to which his response was "that is definitely not true, I can show you what time I opened your bill on the system", and we also asked to check on our order at the kitchen on which he commented: "When the food is done, I will bring it". We waited for more than 40 minutes in total for our food to arrive, and even then one person at our table's crumpets were burnt black and another person did not receive his food. Upon enquiring about this, the waiter said that someone else had taken his order. By the time his food finally arrived, the rest of us had almost finished our meals! To top it all, his patty was undercooked and he could not eat it. By this time, we really had had enough and we asked to speak to the owner. The owner, same as the waiter, immediately turned defensive. We wanted the owner to be aware of the situation and the service we were receiving, however, he handled it completely wrong and instead of making the customer feel understood and taken care of, he was immediately defensive and antagonistic. All of this was really disappointing and unacceptable. In the end, we did get our drinks free. But even this was not communicated to us - the bill was simply put on our table. And we had to actually go ask if they took the drinks off deliberately or if it was maybe forgotten? This is a wonderful gesture and we greatly appreciated it, but by just coming to our table and telling us that that is how they would like to compensate us for our experience - it would have made the world's difference. Tredici is a beautiful restaurant and has great potential, but with the current service, attitude and leadership they have a far way to go.

Loved the atmosphere, food, wine, gifts, only reason I can't give you a 5, the fire wasn't burning.

A great place, a Glittering Diamond, as a stop off for a meal or just coffee and cake on your way to or from Plettenberg bay or other areas, don't miss the turn off

On the spot decision to stop for lunch. Not disappointed. The gourmet open sandwich was excellent. Recommended.
