One of those hidden places that needs more attention. Really delicious food that was beautifully presented. Book in advance, as it is getting full. Very romantic during load shedding. Hint: swap the fries. come with the beef for the smashed baby potatoes!

Best food, we haven’t expected such a delicious and beautifully served variety of dishes. Visit this place, you will come back again and again.

We read through the reviews below and after having dinner there tonight ourselves I can truly say: one of the best restaurants I have been to during my holiday in South Africa with the best service! The ladies were friendly, knowledgeable, funny and so kind. The three course dinner was outstanding, delicious food and served to nicely. The whole atmosphere was cozy and you felt welcome the minute you entered the room. I can 100% recommend this restaurant and would always come back! Thank you so much!

A wonderful place in an old historical building. The hospitality of the staff is heartwarming. The food with a variety of complex and well chosen combination of flavours, absolutely delicious. Book on for hand, because even during the week it can be fully booked!

Our visit was amazing over at Drostdy. The waiters were very friendly and very nice, and the meals were amazing with rich flavours and lots of options. I ordered the seafood curry and it was very special and delicious. If you go through Swellendam you should definitely go eat at Drostdy Restaurant.

Set in a historic building on the main road through Swellendam. Food is prepared by one the owners who happens to be French. The food quality is exquisite! A bit more upmarket and pricey but worth the experience! Ideal for romantic dinners and special occasions.

We sat by the fire which was so nice and warm on a chilly winter evening. We were blown away when the food arrived.. we definitely did not expect to experience the quality and flavours that we discovered last night. The calamari salad took me back to our Thailand trip.. the steak.. perfectly done with the most amazing and unique blue cheese sauce.. highly recommended.

Dostdy is always on on dining itinerary when visiting Swellendam. It was a hot summers evening, however there was a heavy downpour. When enquiring with the restaurant, they confirmed that there was no set dress code, other than comfortable. All courses were superb, I enjoyed a Salmon Trout & Avo starter, Pork Belly for mains and Apple & Berry Crumble and my fiance tucked away on the Tomato Soup as a starter, Lamb Shank as a main and Ice Cream and Chocolate sauce. Everything was delicious!

Food was really good. Staff were attentive and available. Starters were just the right portion and tasty. Think the souffle was slightly overdone. Mains were great especially the venison trio. Not great at social distancing. Place has a beautiful setting and ambience. Should try if in the area.

Lovely restaurant, amazing food. We were lucky to have a table near the large fireplace as it was a bit cold and we had not expectations. Turned to be one of the culinary highlights of our vacation. Friendly staff and enjoyed our chat with the chef.

Actually i rate them 5+, beautifully presented food, bursting with flavor, excellent staff. A little pricey but to be realistic, thats what you pay for quality, i highly recomend them in the most purposed manner.

I don't understand the rave reviews!?! The staff were arrogant and no attention to detail. The food was tasteless, my fish cooked till dry, no pizzazz, no jump in your mouth flavours, no real creativity except the chocolate mousse/brandy/espresso combo. Over priced! Can't find a wine less than R245 - really??! Pulling the ring out of it for the overseas market. As the daughter of a chef, I can do better than that! Sorely sorely disappointed with what was supposed to be a special dinner for 2. I felt embarrassed for you.

Unfortunately a bit of a let down tonight. When I pointed out to the waiter that the fillet had not had the sinew removed which I removed and left for him to see his response was that they get it that way from the butcher and they can’t see inside the meat. I suggested they show it to the supplying butcher as at a sale price of R225:00 per 200g =R1125:00 per kg they were not doing themselves proud. The discretionary 10% gratuity was then left off the bill as a compensation. I paid the R70:00 Rand gratuity with hesitation and a bad taste in my mind knowing that they have lost one of their loyal patrons and ambassadors. Such a pity however. Another valuable lesson learned by me as how not to handle and fix an easy fixable situation. The KIF life continues with the Field & Fork as a distant memory. Only a few months ago I had my last ever chemo therapy tablets at the exact same restaurant. A choice I made as a special memory in my life as I knew that I had survived cancer. A loss unfortunately for both them an me. 🤔🤨
