Review Ocean Basket Sun City - Sun City

By far the best Ocean Basket we have ever eaten at. The food was amazing! They even have a lovely deck at the pool where you can eat while the family enjoys the time at the pool.

Everything was absolutely amazing. My wife’s birthday dinner went perfectly, special shout out to Steven and Clyde 2 managers who go above and beyond to make sure it’s a wonderful experience and also our waiter Lucky who gave the best service we have received in SA so far.. the food as always with ocean basket was just mind blowing.

I loved how they brought the food out quickly and the food was so good I got another plate. They were only a few people there but the workers always do their best to make you laugh, especially the manager. He a soul like sunshine. Thank Ocean Basket for this nice experience. We will come again

The newly renovated Ocean Basket is amazing, the food is 5 star and fresh and the service outstanding, the restaurant deck overlooks the pools and slides for kids. Please you need to eat here it’s better than the other restaurants

We ordered take-away because the children were tired from a full day around Sun City. The food was delicious. It felt really good eating such a scrumptious meal in the comfort of the chalet. We ordered a family platter and a calamari steak with veggies. The meon butter was made to perfection...creamy! Every single item was tasty! The dessert was equally yummy. We placed the cream and ice-cream in the freezer and it stayed perfectly until we were ready for dessert. The baklava was to die for and the lava cake didn't last more than two minutes. The service was good and the waiter helped make things easier for us considering we were taking away, dessert too. The atmosphere was welcoming and scene was quiet without the hustle and bustle that's usually open to the public. There is a pathway through to the pools from the restaurant that's open during the day.

Beautiful views at sundown of Magalies hills, and spires of the Lost City Palace. Super food and good staff.

Just had dinner at Ocean Basket at Sun City. Food was delicious but the service was exceptional. Thelma, our waitress, served our meals with a smile. But Clyde the manager needs a “star of the day”. He went out of his way to make the kids feel so welcome and engaged with them on a level, that made them laugh and smile.

Delicious seafood let down by very slow service. Waited just over 45 minutes for sushi and a platter.

Lucky delivered great service. The staff was friendly and i loooved my food. Mouthwatering and tasty. Definitely coming back 👌

One Of The Most Favorite Of Mine and Family Spots. The Platters are So Yummyyy and Delicious. The Best Place For Seafood.

Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food we received here - the prawns were big, juicy and cooked properly (especially compared to what we get in Cape Town). Squid heads and calamari were excellent. Our starter mini ciabatta breads were warm and straight from the oven! Our waitress was also very friendly and efficient.

Every Time we come to this ocean basket - service is bad, the restaurant is in chaos and a starter can take 45 min. Unfortunately the manager doesn’t seem to have control. Long weekends are particular bad.

This place has once again raised my love for sushi and seafood! I had the Tempura Prawn California Roll and a Avocado Maki as mains. The crispy texture of the prawn went amazingly with the rice and seaweed and my cousin selected this place for a delicious dinner. Unfortunately, the kiddies pool has closed down to be refurbished which has sadly reduced about 30% of all customers. I guess that means more for me! Definitely recommend it!

Ocean Basket has a reputation of providing real value for money when it comes to fish. The food is consistent amounts the franchises and I'm very surprised being this far out from "civilization" that the fish here especially the sushi manages to be decent. For this reason alone I'm impressed that Ocean Basket has managed to keep up the quality and value so far out. Service is good even when the place is packed and I like that when you sit pool side you can order their cocktail jugs to enjoy while cooling off in the water.

Went to Ocean Basket, Sun City for lunch and am very impressed! The calamari was undoubtedly the nicest I have had at any ocean basket to date.. Our waiter was efficient and friendly. Very happy with our experience

40 min...and still waiting for Zen sushi platter..restaurant less than a quarter fill...mix up of orders,ours given to someone else.half the order had not even started...seems our waiters also on holiday.Left as we another commitment

Good calamari. Up to OB standard. Good service. Fantastic setting. One needs to book as the restaurants are full with the renovations at the entertainment Centre going on

What a wonderful Ocean Basket! Our waitress was very friendly and knew the menu very well. The food was fantastic, the fried Hake was so perfectly done. Being from Cape Town where our fish is fresh, I must say I've had no better Hake here than at this Ocean Basket. There sushi albeit a bit over priced, was also very fresh and good.

You almost always get what you expect from the OB restaurant chain.<br/>No exception here, they have taken over from the tree tops restaurant and serve the tried and tested stuff.<br/>What was unique here was the exceptional attention paid to us by waitron Fortunate who was frankly excellent.<br/>Nothing unusual or out of the norm food wise.<br/>

Food was really yummy especially the sushi! Our waiter was friendly but many of the times he was really busy and therefore he forgot the things we asked for. The bad thing is that the food didnt all come at once because we ordered sushi. So after we were done with the sushi, it took almost 30 minutes for the other food to come. But overall, the atmosphere was good and it was a pleasant visit!<br/>

Was looking forward to some poolside cocktails and snacks as I watched the kids play. Firstly, The pool menu had no no decent veg options and a shocking choice of 3 cocktails only . Ordered some snacks which took an hour to arrive (which we had to go chase the waiter for). The calamari was the worse ever, hard and like rubber. <br/>To make the experience worse, there was a terrible stench at the poolside area . <br/>I did feel bad for the waiter who did try. The only option at the upper pool of vacation club but won't be eating here again ... Ever !

In order to give them the benefit of the doubt we attempted to eat here 3 times, twice at the pool deck and once upstairs in the restaurant. I can honestly say that they failed dismally on all three occasions. Service was a joke all three times, it took 45 minutes for one portion of Salmon Roses, they over cooked the kids fish twice. Ran out of two of the three drinks we were ordering and was just a complete flop on all levels. On the last night we were there, we counted four different families who just got up and left their table because of the poor service. Management clearly didn't know how to run the operation and thought shouting at staff in front of the tables was the solution to all their problems. Anyway, generally love Ocean Basket in JHB but this branch doesn't do the brand any favors at all. (On all 3 occasions)

Terrible service from management, food is adequate for what you pay and I have never been treated like this before, I would seriously suggest going to another place to eat in sun city as they do not care about service or customers wr are regulars and will never return again. Take your ocean basket and shove it!!
