The bistro style atmosphere of La Grapperia is welcoming on a beautiful day out in the Winelands. The pizzas are great in between meals. Would recommend their moonshine drinks. Good atmosphere to relax with a group of friends under the trees and surrounded by vineyard views and Franschhoek mountains.
I visited the place for the first time yesterday(21/11/2019)I liked everything but your Mojito cocktail is not nice at all! I didn't received the cocktail in a nice glass, just a normal thick, ugly glass and the cocktail tasted like medicine, only took a few sips, just not nice at all! Total waste of money on that cocktail.
A great place to stop off for a quick lunch while you're touring the spice route. I would recommend the pizza - a good crispy base with a really fresh topping.
From great beer and gin to amazing food, then round it all off with ice cream or chocolate tasting or simply enjoy a glass of G&T and watch the kids play. Walk around and browse the little artisan shops found at Spice Route..this place really has something for everyone. One of our favourite place to take all our visitors...not to mention the absolutely stunning views and property. La-Grapperia never disappoints with their delicious pizzas, have had many wonderful get together around their tables and will definitely have many more to come.

I had the bitterballen with a refreshing cbc raspberry flavored craft beer. Yummy. The bf had the kassler chops, hefty portion. I had a bite and it was nice and soft.

Was here today on braai day. Our first visit to Spice Route. Place was packed but service was really good. Enjoyed some Wilderer G&T. Ordered the pulled pork as well as salami (added bacon) pizza.
We really enjoyed the pizzas, even the kids loved them. They were very tasty. Will definitely be coming back. Caught a glimpse of another tables Eisbein and it looked so good. Was it next time we visit.
Live music and kids play areas make it a good family venue.
Given La Grapperia’s location on Spice Route Farm, I expected something overrated and overpriced. I was gladly and sadly mistaken! Their pizza’s were excellent and very reasonable. The service was friendly and good and the setting was relaxed, albeit a little formal for the food. I’d recommend La Grapperia for a chilled pizza with friends.
Excellent service. The staff were very friendly. The pizzas are delicious! If you are sensitive to hot food, stay away from the fresh chillies to add on your pizza. For those that like a bit of spice, this is amazing. A great selection of drinks toped off with a stunning view.
Expect crisp, wood-fired pizzas with a moreish napolitana sauce and a breathtaking view.
The service is a bit confused and sluggish, but it’s hard to care when the Spice Route brings out all the chill in you.
What a stunning view overlooking Paarl and the vineyards with the mountains in the background...queue was abit long but is expected during the festive season. Service was quick and friendly. Ordered the baked Camembert for starters and shared 2 pizzas which were divine! Lovely thin crisp bases with plenty of toppings. The spice route is such a lovely place to visit with family and friends and so much to see and do! Will definitely come back.
Lovely place to go on a cold Monday evening. Great fireplace going and friendly staff greet you at the door. The restaurant was very quiet so we liked it. The food was of a great standard. The pizza isn't overloaded with toppings and the base is lovely and thin and crunchy. The "flaumkuchin" (spelling?) is a great option for a pizza. Its nice and fresh and slightly different. All in all we really enjoy the whole experience.

One of my all time favourite Saturday day out destinations! A mere 45 mins away from Cape Town and you can get a delicious Pizza, exotic Wilderer G & T and a great view of Paarl mountain too 😉✔️ Pizzas are thin and crispy, pictured is the Spinach and Feta not how I usually like the Spinach to be cooked so would rather recommend the Chicken and Pepperdew🔥
Been wanting to go to Spice Route for ages now, and so happy I finally got there! They were so helpful when I booked to go. The service was fantastic, the pizzas and platters were delicious, and the views are out of this world! I definetly recommend going!
Had one of the simplest, yet delicious pizzas here - salami with extra pepperdews. The crust is super thin and crispy and the pizza itself was flavourful. We were a table to 7, everyone had pizzas and there wasn't one slice left over. The view is spectacular and there's plenty of seating outside under the trees. Definitely a must try when visiting Spice Route.

Le Grapperia is situated at the Spice Route and offers inside and outside dining. Outside dining is the best since the view is a beautiful backdrop to your time spent with friends.
Serivce a bit slow, but the food is amazing. You can order pizzas, pastas, meze platters, cheese platters, need I go on? They are reasonably priced and a must if you ever visit the Spice Route. I enjoyed my Quattro Stagioni pizza and I was pleasantly surprised.
They also serve delightful Gin ensembles and is good value for money. Love it love it love it! Go now!
Stopped there for a quick lunch. Very impressed. Pizza was great and so was the beer. Friendly staff and great view. I did not have time to try and grappa or the gin, but hey, there is always time to visit again!

Wow, wow, WOW. One of the best pizzas (with one of the best views that I've ever had in Cape Town. I cannot go back soon enough. The pizza is paper thin and crisp. So strongly recommended.

Hi I was at la grapperia last week Friday with my wife the services was excellent I had the Mata and my wife had the regina it was hot like it come strait from the oven to me there milkshakes was leka and the view was beautiful of the paarl mountains and its pet friendly so my yorkies are happy

One of the most unique tastings in the Cape; housed in a beautiful white washed cottage; located through an Italian restaurant on the magnificent Spice Route estate.
The host introduces guests to the distillery and explaines the intricacies of the magical process that results in liquid lushessness! We sipped on mampoer, grappa, gin and brandy; savouring every mouthfully as it sparked recognition of so many flavours and then heated our throats as we murmured in satisfaction and appreciation.
A sense of warmth and calm washed over us as we relaxed while overlooking the picturesque Paarl valley below.
Loved the pizza, was absolutely delicious!!! We sat outside on the lawns,the service and the view of the vineyards was stunning, loved it !!!

Located on the Spice Route farm, this could also be an attraction on its own. The views are stunning from under the trees. Although you wait quite a long time the food is very good. I usually have the Greco pizza with added ham and a strawberry milkshake.
Located on Spiceroute wine farm it's a lovely day out. It's scenic and peaceful under the trees while you sip on the cold wine. The crumbed Camembert is delicious as a starter and the tasty thin based pizza is a hit. Service was friendly and prompt.
Had an anniversary lunch here with my partner ❤️ We shared a starter and both decided on pizza for mains 🍕 It was the loveliest, lightest, crispiest pizza I've had in a long time. Excellent gourmet toppings.
We also enjoyed a bottle of Fairview's MCC Brut 🍾Quite fun that this restaurant stocks a lot of Fairview's products . Service was fantastic and it felt very special. Recommend booking a table. They get super busy since they are based in the Spice Route.

We went to go and taste the Wilderer Gin and thought we might as well book here. Not much expectation. I mean probably just another place catering for tourists.
How wrong can one be. Except for the fantastic distillery the Flammkuchen was out of this world. Millimeter thick bases with the most delicious of toppings. CBC Pilsner was great.
Service fast, friendly and efficient and all very reasonable.

Decided on a whim to take the road less travelled to Paarl on a dull, winter's day☁☔. Let's just say it's one of those decisions one didn't regret😅.
One can easily spend an entire day here and that's exactly what I plan to do come summer🌞🌝. After exploring the place a bit- read, coffee roastery, artisanal icecream, chocolate making, wine tasting, glass manufacturing...I really was in the mood to eat.
Heard that La Grapperia's pizzas are legendary and that's exactly what was on my mind. Was welcomed heartily by enthusiastic staff and seated promptly in a buzzing, toasty restaurant (there were two fires going). I had pizza on my mind and ordered the Collina; simple topping of chicken and pepperdews. Delicious- loved the thin-based, slightly charred pizza with very generous toppings. Rest of the table had seafood, Regina and Margherita which was thoroughly enjoyed. Real value for money and servvice was impeccable. The Spice Route is an unique place with loads to do and comes highly recommended.
Such a great ambiance and venue. Truly world class with great food and service. A must is the gin tasting and the fynbos gin at this place made by company called Wilderer. A must for tourist and locals alike. The Grappa at this place is simply the best i have ever tasted. Come hungry ! You won't be disappointed.
Stunning views and what a vibe!
I loved this vibey place! great food and service, despite the full full restaurant. I recommend booking a table .The view is second to none. You see the whole mountain range from stellenbosch to franschhoek. Table mountain is clearly visible in the distance. We didnt know they are open for dinner every day. Next time, we will come for a sundowner and stay for dinner. They have fireplaces inside.
The fynbos gin from their own distillery is world class thumbs up guys.

Been here a few times, came on saturday for a friend's birthday, there was a few of us (15 people ).We didn't make a reservation but they were so helpful and accomdating they arranged a table for us. Food is always great! They also serve Wine on tap which is so cool!!

i must say, service in south africa can be very poor. not at this place! our waiter (i missed to take down his name) was fast, efficient, knowledgable and not overly present, as they can often be! we also went to the tasting room and tried their gold medal winning Fynbos Gin. WOW!! the host was really enthusiastic and explained the distilling process to us. they distill most weekends on site. make a point to check it out. all in all a really great day out! thank to everyone there, you guys have a winning formula.

La Grapperia offers a good product. My friends and I had great pizza here. The wines on the menu are a mixture between Spice Route and Fairview wines. There are various different pizzas on offer plus other a la carte options. The average price of a pizza is R75 which is the going rate.

La Grapperia totally wins with their vibe - chilling under shady oak trees, friendly waiters and a view extraordinaire.
My brothers and I shared pizzas round the board - we tried out the Flammkuchen, recommended by the waitron, which didn't disappoint. The regular pizzas (Regina, Spinach&Feta and Quattro Staggione) were slightly underwhelming, and they were lukewarm on arrival. The thin base they serve is crispy and delicious - their redemption.
A wonderful venue, we sat outside under the Oak trees, very nice during summer. I had the Geogio pizza which tasted great, very nice oven baked bases.We did have a bit of a problem with the waiter because they were quite busy. But nothing serious. We did receive a free Raspberry Liqueur drink for waiting a bit for our table. :-)

I don't know how I have never found this place before, but in our defense - we are hardly ever in the area. It is the kind of place where even if the food was terrible, you still go because the view is just that beautiful. Luckily, the food and service is brilliant and the setting is just out of this world. It is very laid back and very child-friendly. It has a lovely jungle-gym for the kids tp enjoy and you can either sit on the grass in the sun or dose in deckchairs under the trees while the kids play and explore. Friendly staff wander between the wooden tables to deliver boards bearing tapas or wood-fired pizzas with thin bases and great toppings, including the traditional flammkuchen.
We had the Vegetarian platter - and it was outstanding! The chef was also nice enough to make us a Vegan pizza, which hubby loved - I have somehow lost my love for pizza along the way. We stayed there for hours, enjoying the warm weather, the friendly people chattering around us, kids playing and just relaxing. This really is like a one stop destination on the SPice Route. Besides La Grapperia, there is also the DV Artisan Chocolate Roastery and Espresso bar, the Wilderer Distillery and the Red Hot Glass store and watch glass blower Liz Lacey and her team in action as they turn out their striking signature vases, bowls, platters and lamps.
So, if you are ever looking for a child-friendly restaurant in the area - this is it! Best of all - it is open from 11:30AM to 8:30PM! Even on Mondays....
AMAZING setting with spectacular views! If you don't go here for anything else, go here to experience the atmosphere. But luckily, the food is delicious, especially the pizzas, and the staff are friendly and well trained! La Grapperia falls part of the Spice Route situated in Paarl and has enough there to keep you occupied for a full day out! Wine tasting, beer tasting, chocolate tasting, the works! Well worth the visit and suitable for the whole family!
We had a really nice meal here. The food is way more affordable than we expected and the view was great. The pizza is delicious: thin-crust style with generous toppings. The view is also gorgeous. I would make sure to book a place at the restaurant as well as a chocolate truffle course which is also not that expensive.
This restaurant has the most spectacular view and is located at the Spice Route. It's mostly a pizzeria but also serves tapas and antipasti platters. We both had pizzas, the Regina and the Hawaiian and they were delicious. They have super thin and crispy bases, so eating a whole pizza by oneself is very possible and you won't be too full. Service is friendly and prompt but on a busy day such as Saturday or Sunday it may be slower and you may have to wait in a line to get a table, shows just how popular it is. The view is gorgeous, with surrounding farms and mountains and it is advisable to sit outside on the terrace or under the trees. This restaurant and the whole Spice Route and all it has to offer (such as beer tasting and chocolate tasting) make it well worth the visit.
Service is great. Range of food and drinks is good. The items that we ordered were absolutely mouth wateringly wonderful. The carpaccio is to die for. Highly recommend.

Love the ambience and view at La Grapperia! We enjoyed the grappa tasting and can't get enough of the thin crust pizza here! This time we also tried the flammkuchen - it works ...we loved it. Being vegetarian, pizza is a basic favourite, but the flammkuchen is a new one for me :)

I have lost count of how many times I have been hear. The pizza is so tasty and then there is the view, wine and various other activities that just make it an all round great day out. I say day, because one tends to arrive and not leave for a number of hours. If you want to simply relax then you have a magnificent view to admire. If you feel like a few activities then there is a biltong, wine, beer, chocolate and ice cream tastings available. Yup, you want to go now, don't you!

Packed inside, friendly service and nice view over cold landscape from inside a cosy restaurant. Been a few times in summer before...also lovely to visit in off season.
Most delicious pizza with plenty of topping, you can barely see the cheese! The atmosphere is wonderful for both summer and winter with shady trees or a warm fire place! You could spend all day here!
Sit outside with possibly the best view of the cape mountains, order a bottle of wine (or two) and snack on one of their FANTASTIC pizzas. We also had the camembert starter which was seriously tasty; albeit a little small. Service is not amazing. This review gets a high rating based on location and ability to put one in a relaxing mood :)

Sublime Italian food on a Paarl winefarm, overlooking the mountain ranges--what more could one want, really? Absolutely gorgeous, as well as friendly. Fantastic for special occasions or just a spontaneous day-trip to the winelands.
One of my personal favourites! Awesome setting with the best view. Great menu although I never seem to get past the fairview cheese board ( Fantastic ) great wine list. And good prices . The staff are always very friendly and brilliantly informed. I'll be back again and again
This is one of the most worthwhile visits in Cape Town. The food is excellent. The service is friendly and efficient and the location, although a little out of the city, is just perfect.

The hype for this place was one of the main reasons we went - oh and the CBC beer. Bit of a drive, but it only added to the experience, Stunning location - the views from inside or out are equally as impressive. We sat inside in the Grappa Room, which was a great table. Kids had fun playing outside. Atmosphere was good - busy Sunday. Translated into frantic service, which was understandable. Missed a trick with someone calm doing to do the 'how's your mother'? Forget the starters, just head straight to the pizza. Worth an hour drive from Hout Bay - not sure, but good none the less. Wine was obviously a winner and I did partake in a grappa post meal - when in Rome! Rest of the estate was pleasant enough, and a great day out was had by all.
Awesome Pizza and Beer. CBC is brewed on the property so you are guaranteed some fresh beer. The Pizzas are wood fired and really tasty. Finished lunch off with some of the best chocolate ice cream I have ever had. Even went back for seconds. There is a lot to do on the property to keep you busy while waiting for a table. Be it biltong and beer tasting or some of their great wines, this is a great day out.

A wonderful hideaway far from the madding crowd (during the week). This magnificent restaurant is situated on The Spice Route as one of the cheaper alternative places to eat. Probably one of the best wood fire thin pizza bases available.
The experience offered a blended appeal to all of the senses. A vast expanse of spectacular view that went on forever was a visual feast. The Paarl valley and mountains boast the beauty of the Cape, thus while enjoying the oral feast one can soak in the tranquillity of this magnificent venue. Service was average. The choice between inside and outdoor seating was a difficult one but being a wonderful warm clear winters day we opted for outdoors and soaked in the tranquil splendour.
Indoors is a cosy setting ideal for a cold winters day with an inviting fire. One can lounge into antique inviting seats positioned in a way that suggest real "kuiering". The menu is reasonably priced . The Spice Route offers a host of magical activities all tantalising to the taste buds - from wine and beer tasting to chocolate tasting and barley and biltong. This is a real must for a holiday maker and of course the locals too. Bookings over weekends and during peak season would be essential.
I was disappointed that people were allowed to smoke at the outdoor tables. Even cell phone conversations disturbed the tranquillity on offer. I felt that either the restaurant should not allow it or people should know better in the environment.
All in all a lovely restaurant and most definitely one I would recommend.
We had such a lovely relaxed Sunday lunch on the deck at La Grapperia. The pizza's were tasty and the waffles soft and delicious. Ended up at the beach bar section which was the perfect place to enjoy yet another glass of wine before heading home.

An amazing place to have lunch, most of the restaurant is situated outside under the trees at the spice route.
The food is great and the atmosphere is exciting. There service is great, but if you are more than 10 I suggest you book a table.
I am a big fan of the La Grapperia in Simondium and I am happy to say that the La Grapperia @ Spice Route keeps to the high standards set. During the summer months you get to sit under beautiful trees, and in winter they enclose the area with a tent and set out several oil heaters to keep you nice and warm. We visited for a birthday, and were quite a large group, however the staff handled it well. Our hosts decided to order a couple of different pizzas and everything I tried was very tasty. On the drinks menu they have Spice Route wines and CBC beers available, as well as some cocktails. I tried one of their speciality cocktails - it came in a slushy form and a beautiful glass - which I really enjoyed and can recommend you try. To put the cherry on-top, you have amazing views of the valley below and there is a big kids play area within view, so you and the kids are guaranteed a fun experience.

Great views and nice vibe. Waiter was extremely friendly and really made us feel welcome. We did have to wait a while, as they only opened at 11:00. They were fully booked, but made an exception for us a the majority of the tables were only coming at 13:00. My husband and I shared the spinach and feta pizza and we added extra bacon. It was delicious. I had a cafe latte and my husband had the CBC light lager. Our bill was R200, tip included. Will definitely visit again.
Just had to see what the Spice Route was all about and litterly stumbled into this open air restaurant. Absolutely stunning views of Paarl vineyards and Stellenbosch mountains. The waiter was quick and helpful , pizzas was good , but my wife's chicken Schnitzel was to die for. The pizzas are thin based as we prefer them , however mine was a little overcooked and too crispy ... the texture of a cream cracker. The toppings were fresh.
The service is fine as long as you can get someone's attention. The pizza comes gluten-free by request. Possibly the best in the Capetown area.
