Takes their time getting to your order but they still deliver. I decided to test the among of oil they use in Platter For One having everything fried, they did excellently in giving it a fresh crumbed taste without excess oil, especially with the fried hake portion which is served with its own special sauce, no extra oil ran into it that I could see...

Great people and managing staff who were very welcoming and interactive with us as customers and the sushi is A must have .

Good food and good prices. Just make sure you get the beer you ordered. Naked Mexican or Jack black on tap. Only two and they got it wrong twice in a row. Overall I love this ocean basket

Nice cozy restaurant with kids play area. Their family platter definitely caters for my whole family (2 adults and 4 kids) which i think is value for money. Just be prepared to wait a bit for your freshly prepared food.

Recently visited Ocean Basket Stellenbosch, the food came - amazingly well prepared and load shedding kicked in... the manager quickly organised a generator and went to every table to apologise for any inconvenience caused and assured that they can still order food. This guys, this is amazing service. She deserves more credit than I can give!

I had a bad experience at Ocean Basket in Hermanus a few years ago and, after that, stayed away from all Ocean Baskets. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I used Mr Delivery to deliver an Ocean Basket meal to me. The food was done to perfection, and the salad was really crisp and fresh, with LOADS of feta cheese and onions in. Well done!

My gifriend and I went every month as a special date to Stellenbosch Ocean Basket for the delicious platter for 2. Everytime we went it was amazing. Last month we planned to go and it looked as though you had closed down. We were absolutely devastated. We really hope that you guys are just renovating or are planning to open somewhere in the Stellenbosch area again. As students it was such a treat to just walk and have a great meal and a great price.

Great venue, location, staff, mgt, atmosphere. Loses 1 point because I frequently eat at Ocean Basket Cape Gate and the calamari heads, as well as the mussels are nearly 3 times the size, so Stellies could do better.

Food was amazing and we were served with a smile. Also apart from the good service we didn't even wait 15min for our food. Thank you guys

The food was amazingly fresh, their platter by freshness tasted much better than most platters I have had fron this chain of restaurants across the country. The staff was great especially our waiter, Turbulence is his name 😂😂😂 I couldn't stop calling him 😆😆😆 the name just killed me 😂😂😂

Attended a birthday for a family here a few nights ago . Slightly disappointed about the service , because the waiters were very slow . It made me a little upset because the restaurant was not busy so their should not be slow service . The food was no better than previous occasions , but seems as if the quality has gone down slightly  . Another thing that shocked me was that they told my family member that they did not have champagne glasses so she had to bring her own from home and I do feel that this is very unprofessional .

Stopped by for lunch. The food was good as always but the service was shockingly slow. We constantly had to look for our waiter as he was always missing. Not sure if I will be back

Maybe the most uninspiring attempt at grilled calamari I have ever had...no wait, sorry, I saw someone boil frozen calamari directly in the bag in a microwave once.<br/><br/>But that's not what put me off. What put me off is that my mussels weren't cleaned properly. The beard was left in!

We had the worst service at Ocean Basket. It started when we had to seat ourselves. Our waiter then came to us we asked her to give us a few seconds. We had to call her for service to take our drink order. We finished our drinks and then she never came back to check on us by that time we went to the owner to get a different waiter. The manager then came to us took our order and left then our waiter came back. Then someone else came to bring our bill and then someone completely different came to take payment.<br/>Our fish was also full of bones.<br/><br/>We were really not impressed.

Seriously good seared tuna and quick efficient service. Affordable seafood that is really good quality in town. We tend to forget about it, but tonight we went there and it was great.

It's always lovely eating at ocean basket! We had the prawn & mussel combo which I added Cajun style too ;) good food !! Service was friendly and we always tend to find ourselves going back! We tried some of their new sushi it's not that grand ...

Not so impressed with this branch but they still have good food.<br/><br/>The service is terribly slow (and it was not busy at all) and we had to get up and call our waiter to come and take our orders.<br/><br/>We ordered the Platter for Two. When te food came, we realised some items were missing. When asking our waiter about it, she said that they were out of stock. They did not bother to tell us beforehand or suggested something in its place. We had to ask for something in its place (as you still pay the full price).<br/>Nevertheless the food was still prepared well and tasted good. <br/>The manager also came to apologize for the items out of stock which we appreciated.<br/><br/>So apart from the slow service, we still enjoyed our experience here.

Okay so I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants, especially in Stellenbosch where there are countless little local spots to choose from. But I can honestly say, Ocean Basket Stellenbosch probably offers the freshest, best value for money seafood in town. I had the grilled fish, calamari and prawn combo, and it was delicious!!!! We also ordered the hake and chips, which was so filling, fresh, and completely affordable. Look, this might not be the most romantic little spot, but if you are craving seafood or looking for a restaurant that caters for the whole family, this is the place. Also very impressed with the attentive staff- overall a very positive experience!

Was at the restaurant on a Wednesday evening seemed quiet. Took a long time for waiter to approach us. When he took our orders he then went to two more tables to take their orders! We had told him that we only had an hour. We received food in time but will not return. Service was poor and food pathetic. The worse Ocean Basket we've had!

Really enjoyed the service. Open during load shedding. Food was great and tasty. Will definitely come back. Johan - loved your enthusiasm during the service. And the twins also greeted us so nicely. And the manager was welcoming :)

Eh... It's a fast food sea food place, so... I guess you can't expect too much. The food just wasn't very flavorful and was very oily.<br/><br/>Having said that, the prawns were actually pretty good. If I go again, I'll just avoid the calamari and fish.
