We were on our was back from Betty’s Bay to Paarl and I was really wanting quality ice cream. Everything so far has been closed. I googled gelato and up popped this place.
We found this cute spot nestled in between Wakaberry and a chocolate store.
We walked in and I immediately loved the ambiance. I was so happy that there was sugar free ice cream. Out was passion fruit and chocolate. I chose both. I preferred the passion fruit over the chocolate. My husband loved the price!

Visisted for Mother’s Day earlier this year and forgot to write a review. The cafe definitely made an impression and I can still remember warm, inviting atmosphere. My mom ordered pancakes with a scoop of ice cream and we had singular scoops of ice cream. This cafe is the place to go for a decadent treat.
If you’re looking for delicious gelato (and let’s be honest, who isn’t?) look no further than Crème de Levain. They have so many different flavours and the one’s tastier than the next. It’s creamy, full of flavour and one scoop is more than enough to satisfy your craving for all things delish. (But as you can see in the picture, I can't have just one flavour or just one scoop :D )
Their prices are also very reasonable. And their coffee is great too.
I still have to try their pastries and waffles, but if the gelato is anything to go by, it will be too tasty to say no to! If you haven’t been there yet, you’re missing out. They have the best ice cream in town.
What a lovely way to end of your evening. After finishing dinner with my friends we went fir a stroll through Church street and we ended up grabbing some ice cream at Creme de Levain. Thank you for having the best ice cream in town. With 24 different flavours we had a lot of questions to ask about the ice cream and the staff was more than happy to help us with a smile on their face. Definitely coming back!!!
Best ice cream in Stellies. The staff was so friendly and help me a lot when I was unsure which flavour of ice cream to choose. So many flavours available and everyday they have different flavours available. I must recommend the Balsamic Caramel, it might sound like a weird ice cream, but is delicious!!!!! Scoops are big and prices is accommodating. A must visit for all tourists, students and residents of Stellenbosch. Next time I will definitely try their waffles. But for now the ice cream will do.

I usually have ice cream when I come here but this time around I tried their blueberry waffles with blueberry ice cream and I was totally impressed.
This place is affordable compared to most ice cream places and it opens until late for those who enjoy cold things at night.
I love this place! Service was okay, but OMG their bubble waffle cone? I can't go back to eating normal waffles after having that! It's quite a big portion though, I shared it with someone it was still super filling!
It was a little weird that they only let you taste two flavours but hey the ice cream is cheaper than most gourmet ice cream places in CT, and it was amaaaazing! Definitely coming back next time I’m in Stellies x
Créme de Levain serves the best ice-cream I have had in ages. The location is gorgeous, the store-front is inviting and the servers are all friendly. The real appeal is, undoubtedly, the silky-smooth and deliciously creamy ice-cream. The flavours are fun and exciting, bringing in some true South-African flair with Milky Bar, Amurala Koeksister and Bar-One chocolate sauce flavours. My absolute favourite was the bubble waffle-cone with two scoops of ice-cream. The waffle was fluffy, crispy and warm, topped with delicious scoops of pure goodness. This place is heaven on earth. I definitely recommend it for a treat like no other.
Have visited on 22 July. Staff was really friendly and the atmosphere was great. The manageress came to serve us. She recommended the triple cheese sandwich which was fantastic
The next day when we returned the staff where dancing and friendly. We will be back. I will recommend all my friends.
My favorite ice cream place!! I would highly recommend the honeycomb chocolate flavor! It is my favorite and always get it! The man behind the counter got a bit annoyed with the people I was with because we took so long to order, but he made up for it by taking a photo for us!:)

I remember visiting here back when I was a student and it was the best ice cream. Sadly a recent visit revealed standards had dropped quite a bit. The ice cream was very icy and flavors somewhat lacking
Couldn't have asked for a better Sunday treat!! We walked into a wonderland of ice cream flavours at Creme de Levain. Two scoops or more is mandatory, just to get as much of the variety as possible. Caramel & Balsamic, Amarula Koeksister, Carrot Cake, you name it - it's there ♡ And pricewise it's a winner for everyone... It even suits our tight student budgets! You'll definitely see me again 😊
So happy to see the add to Zomato, I love this place! A little dessert on a Sunday after wine tasting... Initially it was very quite and I wondered mmmm why so quiet. And then all of a sudden the place was full of people all the tables occupied. Desserts were all delicious said my friends, they are the Chocolate Churros which he said was amazing, the other being a peanut butter death waffle which he loved but said lacked the peanut butter, and finally the sugar and cinnamon pancakes which were as usual great on a moody Sunday ;) love the quaint decor and am so delighted to have this new addition to Stellenbosch!
Great place, beautiful decor and tasty ice cream. Also probably the best priced in town. Love that they have vegan options (for us dairy intolerant people), but would be even better if they can add some more vegan flavours. The staff and manager is always really friendly and efficient. No matter how busy they are, the waiting time to be served is very short, which is a major bonus compared to some of the other gelato places in Stellenbosch.
This is the perfect place to visit for a quick ice cream or for a delicious piece of cake. There is seating inside and outside the shop. The ice cream is to die for - there is even sugar free options which are really delicious. We often visit this place late at night for a ice cream.
This spot is MUCH better than Moro and it is just 20m away. IT IS MUCH CHEAPER AS WELL. The quality is unmatched, service is great and just an all around great vibe. Great Bubble waffle cones as well.

- Park is a pain, but then its Stellenbosch.
This is a typical touristy/local icecream and coffee hangout. On this extremely hot day the ice cream was especially enjoyable. Sidewalk seating with a limited amount of inside space. Will definitely pop around here again in the future.

Lovely to get a variety of ice cream with either two, three or four scoops, with a cup or cone. Also get coffee, hot chocolate, cuppachino, latte, bagels, sour dough, waffles, doughnuts, smoothies, cake etc

My friend brought me here and the flavours they had were unbelievable. It was really good quality ice cream. The people of the place I wish could have a bit of a better vibe going especially for a beautiful place like that. There pricing is also really good and worth for what you are getting❤️🥰🤩
