Review Katjiepiering Tea Garden Restaurant - Stellenbosch

Awesome restaurant in the Stellenbosch University Botanical gardens. Great food (with a limited menu). The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable with a sense of humour. (Rare at most restaurants in South Africa!!) We ordered a few meals and shared. All were unique tastes and well prepared. Definitely worth a visit.

The café is located within the peaceful and beautiful Stellenbosch University Botanical Gardens. The chicken mayo we had was tasty, with friendly service. The price is a little steep - considering the local café and restaurant competition. R95 for the chicken mayo, and an extra R35 for a tiny side salad (the board says R15). Regardless, I think this may be the best spot for tea and cake, and I’m keen to head back.

Amazing to sit in the middle of the botanical gardens and have a meal. Very relaxing atmosphere under the trees. Delicious food.

Great hot chocolate, very welcoming staff

Always an exceptional experience when visiting both the restaurant and botanical gardens. One of the best boboties I have ever tasted. Served simply, where the food prep and quality speaks for itself. PS: the samosas are divine too💥🇿🇦

Nestled in the heart of Stellenbosch one would be mistaken that you a breathaway from the hustle of a vibrant metropole. Not only food for the soul but an enjoyable meal at Katjiepierang. A variety menu for all palettes. Thank you Kevin and staff for your hospitality.

Go for the carrot cake (👌) and be prepared to be seated outside plus remember that you pay a gate fee (🙈) to enter the premises!

The botanical gardens are absolutely beautiful. The Katjiepiering restaurant is situated at the heart. We had a delicious breakfast here. The menu is curated and the portions are filling. One of the most uniquely located restaurants in Stellenbosch.

Fantastic restaurant with great staff. They catered a massive event for us at the last minute and their service was amazing! Completely exceeded our expectations and went above and beyond for our group. Everyone was very impressed with the food and had nothing but praises for selections offered. Highly recommend! Niel is a lifesaver.

This place is a gem! It's tucked away in Stellenbosch and has such a beautiful natural setting. Green houses, trees, a little pond and so much to explore. Bonsais, ferns... some ducks to visit as well! I had the granola breakfast option which was really nice and refreshing! The place is very peaceful and a great escape from everyday troubles.

Underneath the rustling trees we had cappuccinos and cheesecake. Both were lovely, especially the silky smooth cake with hints of lemon and lime. We’ll definitely go again.

Very relaxing and peaceful sitting under the trees at Katjiepiering restaurant in the botanical gardens. I've had their open sandwich chicken mayo a few times and it is very delicious. Great place for a lazy day breakfast or lunch.

Lazy walk through the botanical gardens. Its very pretty. Popped in Katjiepiering for breakfast after.

Its nicely located in the middle of the gardens. You just feel at peace and relaxed. Service quick and friendly. Food itself mediocre although big portions. The seat cushions were very stained cant really fault that as its an outdoor restaurant but im sure more of an effort could be made as it looked like it hadnt been washed in months. Good coffee.

Service was quiet amiss. The manager/owner too seemed grouchy and brash.

The meals were decent and affordable. The lasagne had a hearty flavour and the scones were good, but ought to be accompanied with cheese in my opinion. The grilled chicken great but a little dry as was the pesto, of which there could have been more on...

The interior is old fashioned, which is peculiar to the outdoors almost jungle scene from the Botanical gardens 🌻 but it really is beautiful and worth a stop for some tea or cake 🐞

Calming and relaxing venue surrounded by the serene Stellenbosch University Botanical Gardens. The food is great and the staff are welcoming but unfortunately service is a little slow. Definately worth a visit and walk around the gardens.

These gardens are one of my favourite places in Stellenbosch. I love going there everytime I am in the area. The restaurant is in the centre of the gardens and is just the most relaxing place. You will find better service and food elsewhere but not many other places have a table in the middle of the gardens with birds chirping all around you. My go-to is always scones and a cup of tea!
