Review Babushka Deli - Stellenbosch

awharvard
I was hesitant to book our end year lunch here after seeing some negative reviews about service. They got our table wrong, but the long afternoon there with good service food and wine was 5 stars. We're going back soon. Once you settle, it's too relaxing. Well done, guys.

Had a great experience at Hazendal. Variety of activities for kids & adults. They have put-put (mini golf) with 3 x 9 holes (3 different difficulties). Driving range to have some fun and a full 18 hole Par 3 golf course A collection of vintage vehicles are also on display. Overall a great wine farm to explore within 30 minutes from Cape Town. Their newly built Hotel & Spa will definitely be worth visiting.

Aw man!! This place is so stunning , pictures don’t do it Justice. The staff are so customer centric and very pleasant to engage with . Tried out “the Burrow” had a fantastic time 🙂 The bar and cigar lounge are something you really need to experience. Keep it up team 🫶🏼. Look forward to returning with my family

Well kept estate. Friendly and competent staff. There is an edutainment centre for the kids which is very professionally run, from needing codes to fetch your kids to them automatically sending you an email of a picture of your child when they first go in. Very impressive. The gardens are beautiful and there is a massive lawn you can picnic on. You can do wine testing as well as high tea, but I believe you'll need to book in advance. Great place to spend a lazy Sunday.

My aunt and I had the most tremendous experience at The Hazendal Tea Ceremony. Joseph was the absolute best - he knew everything about the tea ceremony and explained everything beautifully. The food and teas were delicious, we thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The location is an easy drive from Cape Town, and the property is breathtaking. Highly recommended to anybody who is considering a visit!

Hazendal has so much to offer! From a small vintage car collection to an art gallery, a wine tasting room, boutique shops, immaculate gardens, and a gorgeous deli! There is also an interactive play center for kids. Each and every staff member we walked past greeted us, and so we felt warmly welcomed.

Very interesting estate, but not as pretty as many but has much of interest besides the wine tasting. There is a Russian tea ceremony held in one room, a collection of old cars, a children's play area, an art gallery featuring Russian icons and sewn items from Uzbekistan, a deli and a lovely tented area to relax and have your picnic. I'm sure there was more but that's all I took in on our visit!

Booked for Thursday since weekends are fully booked. Service (by Dennis) was very Friendly and informative. Got a lot of background about the history of the farm and the tea ceremony was just something else. Took us about 90 minutes to enjoy some Russian tea and cuisine. Highly recommended!!

Great place to enjoy the afternoon over drinks and food with your girlfriends. Bookings must be done online for the restaurants and a deposit paid upfront.

It was an exquisite experience! Lovely surroundings and the Babushka Deli had the best food and service that we've experienced in a long time. The food was delicious and well presented. The chef had no problem swopping a few items around to make it more to our liking. The Waiter, Edna, was also very professional and friendly and had great knowledge on the items on the menu in order to recommend ones that would be most to our liking. THANK YOU!

We dropped in here on recommendation and I am so glad we did! Its a Russian owned farm with some really amazing decor, a vintage car showroom, a wine tasting room, a Russian high tea option (book 24 hours in advance for this as well as the cordoned off tasting area upstairs if you’re a group of 5 or more. We tasted every wine possible and it was good fun! They have undergone some big changes in the last few years with renovations and some new blocks of vines. I think it will be interesting to see where they can take their wine making to!

Beautiful establishment with so many things to enjoy. There's a deli with lawn menu options & wine tasting experiences also a sit down option at the deli & the Pivnuskha restaurant. Cannot wait to try the Russian Tea Experience however you have to book in advance for this. It works perfectly well to couple a booking at Wonderdal for the kids & the tea experience as they are both 2 hours long. The lawns & hidden gardens are lush & inviting. The wine estate also has a golf course, conference & function venue options.

Halaal food was ordered in for us and it was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. A wonderful venue to make this event even more memorable 💕

Had my 30th birthday breakfast at Babushka Deli and it was wonderful. The food was out of this world but moreover the service was exceptional. Then being able to go to the gallery and take grandpa to look at all the old cars was amazing. Plenty of thing to do for kids as well.

We had breakfast at the Babushka Deli. The roast beef on rye was excellent and we also enjoyed the fried Russian pie chicken. Friendly service. Beautiful garden setting. The Russian high tea seems an interesting experience for a special occasion. A venue for romantic couples and families.
