Review Floreal Brasserie - Stellenbosch

Marissa Bones
The food is good the staff are excellent, but the place itself is perfect. It's cosy with great views no matter where you sit and let's not forget that you can take a blanket and sit in front of the fire place with a glass of wine. It's something different and I definitely recommend it.

Excellent service at Floreal which is located at the Marianne Wine Estate. Their chef is great and we had goat cheese and prawns as a starter - both can we highly recommend. The mains were also pretty good and you can definitively go their for a lunch or dinner. During the day it's wonderful to spend some time on a table next to the pond.

Such a breath of fresh air. It's a little gem hidden in Stellenbosch. I had the hake and chips which came with all the add ons, including tartarre sauce and a minty sauce which compliments the hake perfectly. You have a view of the winelands while dining. The service was very good as well.

Just ate a simple burger, but it was delicious. Beautiful setting, well worth the visit. Menue just very limited at the time of writing

“Great food & service” We decided to give Floreal a try after hearing of their recent opening. The restaurant is ideally located for a quiet break away from the busy wine farms. We were welcomed with a basket of freshly-baked bread, which was really delicious. The food was really good, the gnocchi in particular won everyone over. The kudu burger was really delicious, unfortunately we were too full to try their desserts. The service was also very good, and the waiter knew the wines well enough to recommend a good match for the food we were having. I would like to suggest that Floreal edit their menu to recommend the best wine for each dish, as the Marianne wines are not so well-known. Another vegetarian option on the menu would also not be a bad idea. We will definitely be back soon! Visited November 2015

Best meal of the trip so far! Caesar salad was exceptional, as was the fruit crumble dessert. Lamb chops were delicious too. A great spot for a romantic meal.

Wonderful hidden gem in the Stellenbosch winelands with tasty food in a tranquil setting that includes outdoor seating and a wonderful view. Extremely family friendly with high chairs and large green space to run in. Totally worth the trip!

Floreal Brasserie at Marianne Wine Estate
Stellenbosch

Yesterday after having a fantastic wine tasting at Marianne wine estate we made our way down to lunch.

For a day in the vineyards, it was perfect bar a bit of wind. We had starters/tapas outside but had to move inside for our main meals as it turned a bit chilly.

Two lovely fresh min loafs of bread arrived first with a bean curd spread. Starters we had Salmon gravlax (First time was too salty and didn't look fresh and was sent back, second time was not much better and was also sent back), Slow cooked pork belly was much better, Fried camembert was tasty, Along with the Garlic, ginger and chilli prawns were the starts that topped the best of the day. Smoked ham hock terrine was surprisingly good.

For main meals were Steak 'n Chips, with the chips being a bit oily and not crispy enough, Wild Mushroom Risotto, Lamb bobotie. Some dishes were better than others. Not bad for a light lunch after a wine tasting.

The waitress and staff were friendly and very helpful, even started a fire for us in the lovely big fireplace once we moved inside.

Not sure if we will be back. Floreal Brasserie at Marianne Wine Estate's teeth rating:
Food: 6 "teeth" out of 10
Service and Staff: 8 "teeth" out of 10
Ambience: 7 "teeth" out of 10
Overall: 21 "teeth" out of 30

Was a bit disappointed in our visit over the weekend, but only due to the lack of ambience. There was only one other table in the (pretty large) restaurant and so the vibe was really lacking. I know it's winter, but surely there is something you can do?

I had the risotto which was amazing, I am still dreaming about it! Boyfriend had the burger which he said was very tasty, and he was impressed with the wedges.

Our waitress was really good and sweet and lovely.

A little on the pricey side for the experience as a whole - not sure if I'll be back (in winter at least)

Serene is the perfect way to explain this place. Dining on a veranda next to a still damm is a peaceful way to enjoy your Sunday Funday. The starters were divine, packed with flavour. The mains however lacked flavour, the presentation was beautiful but needed something as simple as seasoning. Overall a lovely experience and will be back .

Why is this place so under rated !!! I've been several times now and the food is always on point. This is a fine dining undiscovered gem!!!!! The food is prepared to goosebump inducing standards by the chef and all I can say is the candy floss prawns with that cumin mayo keeps me coming back. I always pair my meal with the export only white wine Natana and for me that's the perfect end to a Friday night. If you lucky enough to be there when there is live music the vibe gets going in this little spot of heaven. Big ups to the JoMartin band for providing the music to my main course. A must not be missed moment is also the rooibos custard cream that is served with the home made malva pudding. Well done to this spot for exceeding my expectations.

Sitting on the balcony with the pretty river is probably the highlight, the food was ok, really nothing to rave home about. I was glad it was on the entertainer so we only had to pay half price.

I really think they can improve on flavour of the food.

The service is good though 🤗

I thoroughly enjoyed dinner here. I got to try this wonderful place out due to the entertainer. So it's a little cottage kind of place with a lovely warm fireplace on cold nights like these. I went with the Duo of Beef - the braised sticky short rib was by far my favorite, it was succulent and bursting with flavor. The meat literally fell off the bone. I was extremely impressed with the chef... Divine!!! My partner ate the pork belly and I had a piece - it was nice and soft with veg on the side. Our friends went with the Hake and chips and Mushroom Gnocchi. They loved the flavors and the fish. Overall I really love this very down to earth great place and I am sad most people miss it when they drive past. ;( truly delicious food and I can't wait to go back ...

Went on a cold, wet wintry evening for my birthday. Read the reviews which mentioned the lovely fireplace. Unfortunately there was no fire as they had no wood. A gorgeous, big leather couch in front of the fire would have been perfect for a romantic birthday. Only one other couple and the place felt a bit bare and cold. Maybe some carpets in winter could help? Horrible chairs, but luckily the friendly waitress gave us cushions and blankets. Lovely little bread fresh out the oven was great. The biltong and droëwors platter for starters was good and my fillet and beef short-rib yummy. My husband got a very dry piece which they could not replace. Had a lovely chat with the chef/owner and we will definitely give it another try. Hope to go and have some red wine on that couch...

We had a fantastic time, the food was amazing for the price and well presented. Their staff is well trained and very friendly. Although it was cold outside the fire going inside was lovely, and the atmosphere is great. I would recommend to anyone passing by to pop-in for lunch or dinner on Fridays. We will be back!
