Review The Green Goose Eatery - Stellenbosch

New restaurant in Stellenbosch. Great ambiance- nice and airy. Waiters were attentive and knowledgeable. Food divine. We shared 3 smaller meals. The Caesar salad, the tuna and the gnocchi. The food is meant to be shared and enjoyed , so more like a starter shared, although the salad was big. For the price, the food is really good value, as it’s been carefully thought out, well plated and tasty. I left very satisfied but not over stuffed, but if you are really hungry, they have main courses that are hearty and filling. I hope that they get the support they deserve. Oh, and a very interesting wine list too.

Interesting use of Asian ingredients mixed with western style. Nice Interior fit out with warm ambient. Service was great too. Had a good dining experience.

Beautiful and chic little eatery. Liked the menu, being uncomplicated. I have trouble choosing dishes on these volumes of menu pages. Simple simply works for me. I am a starter and dessert girl, so opted for the Black Arancini and bread platter. Perfect and very tasty. The Raspberry Choux Buns dessert is a must have. Also love the affordable wine list. Will definitely be back.

Amazing food. Great atmosphere. Excellent drinks selection. The chef Patron, Gustaaf Boshoff, makes the place feel like home for his guests. Always return.

The food is outstanding! Unique textures and flavour combinations, perfectly executed on a busy Wednesday evening exceeded my expectations. Having the owner pop around to our table for a chat was a special touch!

What a fantastic dining experience we had, simply brilliant. The owner gave us a nice rundown on the menu and we decided on a number of small plates as we were really keen to try the different tastes. Can I say it again, simply brilliant. I still regret not having taken the Asian Tuna but I'll have it during our next visit - the little sample I had was just so awesome and so well presented. We had the wood fired flat bread which complimented the small plates very nicely. The dessert was most likely the highlight of my dining experience - having opted for the 'Chocolate & Passion' one gets to appreciate the true value of chefs being trained in the top Michelin Star restaurants of this world. All I can say is, go experience this world class restaurant, you will not be disappointed!!

We had the pleasure of eating here on Saturday night and wow, what an experience! We had a selection of small plates of which the octopus and the gnocchi were the standouts although every dish was great. The wine list is varied and offers great value and the service was phenomenal. Great attention to detail in every aspect, we can't wait to go back!

Been there for the second time now and what a great restaurant. The service is fantastic, there is loads of attention to detail. The owner keeps a close lookout on what is going on and gave us personal recommendations. The food has a great variety of flavours and the wines on offer are fabulous. Would definitely recommend an evening here!

Wonderful new restaurant in Stellies. Decor is calm and sophisticated. The intimate size allow for very attentive, friendly staff. The food is spectacular! Unique combinations bursting with flavour and colour. The menu is small, but seasonal. The sitting area overlooking the park is wonderful for a drink. Simply excellent dining experience. Could not recommend more highly for anything from a family gathering, work function or date night.

Gorgeous setting and atmosphere with a wood-fired oven in a semi-open kitchen plan. Unique selection of cocktails. Had an amazing vegetarian flatbread with deep fried kale. Very friendly staff and owner. Will definitely be back ;)

I took my lady for a lunch to this place today. We own Drum Restaurant on the other side of town, and we've heard so much of The Green Goose! We were welcomed like old friends. I had the sirloin, and my counterpart had the same starter twice (the tuna - wow!). I realize that giving the competition a good review isn't good for business - but hey, I really want to come here for many more dates! MERCI!

I have lived in Stellenbosch for more that 20 years and this was my first meal at this restaurant. I cannot remember the last time I had a meal this good. The flavours and variety were amazing. I eat out a lot and this was the first time in a long time where I absolutely loved every single dish we ordered. We did order several different starters and shared. I could not decide which was better. The dishes were inventive and different. People who are staid and traditional might not enjoy it.

Excellent food with very interesting flavours and textures! The decor is stunning and the ambiance is great. The chef-owner is very passionate and his service is top notch. I'll definitely be back!

Stylish restaurant with a homely feel, mainly due to a host that makes you feel comfortable and at home. Gustaf the owner and chef truly sets the mood with his thoughtful menu and local inspired cocktail recipes. Delicious food and drink, wonderful setting, try the Green Goose!

We had an awesome dinner at Green Goose. The food was excellent and the winelist had some very interesting wines. Service could be a bit more polished, but the waiters were friendly and helpful.

Excellent food! Everything perfect and exceeded our expectations. Beautiful interior, friendly and extremely competent staff. It's a must try and our new favourite! Well done Gustav, Nico and staff.

The food here is absolutely incredible. The fish of the day was cooked to perfection, but the highlight was the poisson cru, a ceviche like dish. It was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The drinks were also top-notch, made by a very experienced mixologist. We will absolutely be going back for lunch before we leave Stellenbosch. The only thing that can be tightened up was the time it took to receive the main course after the starters. I chalk it up to a new restaurant though and determining the lead times for certain dishes. Overall, definitely 5 stars.
