Had a wonderful experience! Sat at the FatCatz lounge for some cocktails and burgers from their snack menu. Absolutely fantastic. Great views and good music. Not often i lunch at the same venue two days in a row. And for the price on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays ( half price cocktails ) worth it!!

Nice place by the sea side and food quality is good and the kids menu is not bad and descent portions. Seafood for one was nice.

It was such a lovely visit. The location is so lovely looking out to see. The service excellent and the good delicious. They've also got a pensioners menu with such reasonable prices. We have been there several times and always very good. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Entrance to restaurant needs serious upgrade. With such a great view, windows need to be cleaned. Atmosphere very mediocre and can be improved. Accompany visitors to table. Service slow, even with many tables unoccupied. Food good, but presentation bland. Some wines on list not available.

Some good cocktails we had that night!!! Was really an awesome experience

We only had a little bit of time for a quick meal, the cheesemelt burgers were absolutely brilliant. The service was excellent too. Our waiter, Ryno really impressed us, such a good manner about him.

Our wators name was Keith who gave us excellent service well mannered and very friendly honestly the restaurant needs more people like Keith as when Keith shift was finished we waited over half an hour before we got served again yet had about 2-3 wators walk past our table. Honestly the restaurant is lovely beautiful view drinks were great the calamari was abit over cooked but either than that it was great. Really believe that Keith deserves higher recognition for his great service.

Best Steak I have had in a while.
Thank you Cattle Baron!

The food and service was great. Everyone was happy with their meals and the steaks were all referred to as "melt in the mouth" good. Would be going back again and will definitely recommend.

The Manager

Cattle Baron R44

Thank you for a fantastic 12-year anniversary lunch, we truly appreciate your commitment to delivering excellent service and we would like to share our experience with the greater community. What follows is an unedited version of what transpired in 15 September 2019, 13:00 at this amazing establishment.

On Saturday 14 we made and confirmed a table for our group, as we had 5 kids I requested a table close to the play area, this was acknowledged as we all know how demanding kids can be and we did not want to disturb the other patrons.

Well upon arriving we found the table smack bang in the centre of the restaurant, we then requested to be seated on the patio. It was quite windy however we braved the wind and somehow tried to make the most of it. The waitress quite helpful attempted to make the situation a bit bearable by dropping the sides to alleviate the wind. Only to find out that the side clips were broken which then actually served no purpose. Selflessly we braved the wind only to find out that our kids were now trapped on the patio, my niece being autistic does not understand why she cannot now enter the park climbed over the railing.

The waitress took our drink orders and mentioned to us that the manager would be with us shortly as he was checking up on the patrons, apparently, he would be able to assist with the sides and make it a bit more comfortable. We noticed him interacting with the patrons inside completely ignoring us, and this too was not a problem the kids were happy we had good conversation despite our self-inflicted choice to sit outside.

Our food order was taken and the waitress now completely aware of what was transpiring outside promising the manager would come. And just as we thought our problems were solved the manager came opening the door to the patio and from the door platform, he made a special announcement. “CAN YOU PLEASE NOT LET THE KID CLIMB OVER THE RAIL” closed the door shook his head and walked away.

We also decided to walk away, we told the waitress of what transpired, and she called the manager who very abruptly scorned the waitress and very sarcastically responded to our grievance and sadistically concluded the transaction.

Well done Mr. Manager of Cattle Baron R44 you made our 12 year anniversary amazing.

The one star goes to the waitor who provided brilliant service. As for the rude manager and unprofessional chef- no stars should be given and I will definitely not be back. The food was terrible quality and I was offered a coffee to replace it. I do think this is a horrendous substitute when you are hungry. My boyfriend's chicken was hard and tasted like they used processed chicken and cheese. It was very small too. Most of my prawns were shells only and my steak was small, fatty and dry. I have had the same meals at other Cattle Barons but I would not recommend this one as I think I would get more satisfying food at Spur or McDonald's.

Possibly one of the best family suppers I have had in a long time . My Family and I enjoyed burger night at Cattle baron and the food was as expected great . Definitely value for your money sized meals and good quality food . The ambiance and location gives the vibe a special touch . Service is attentive and well organized. Cattle Baron will definitely be seeing me again soon !

Cattle Baron has been at the forefront of all things steak and creamed spinach since I can remember. And they are still just as renowned and valued as they were back in the nineties.
Now it takes a lot to maintain such a good reputation and Cattle Baron succeeds in providing you with not only a high quality meal, but an enjoyable experience.

Upon arrival we were greeted by literally every staff member, so you feel welcome immediately. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and had a good sense of humour, something you don’t see every day.

Their menu is extensive, to say the least, but we were in the mood for steak. And seeing that this is Cattle Baron, having a steak is kind of obvious. I had the 300g rump, rare, with chips and my boyfriend had the 300g sirloin, medium-rare, also with chips. Aside from the warm bread for appetizers, you get the best creamed spinach and mashed butternut as a side dish to your meal. I honestly don’t know what I love more, their steak or the spinach; it’s truly devine.

Our food arrived in a flash, and both our steaks were perfectly cooked. Their basting was just a little too salty for my taste (even though I love my salt), but the flavourful meat was juicy, tender, and of great quality. Their chips were super tasty, even better than I can remember. The only downside was that our waitress didn’t bring us the tomato sauce we requested, but someone else eventually brought us some. The steak knife was also placed on the plate, resulting in basting covering the handle. It’s a tiny thing, but it can be avoided by placing the knife on the table beforehand.

The meal was filling and satisfying. But of course we craved something sweet. We shared the chocolate mousse with ice cream and it was the perfect end to a delicious meal.

Cattle Baron is pricey, but it’s totally worth it. Their food, service, ambiance and overall experience is worth every penny. Plus, they don’t charge corkage, so be sure to take your own bottle of wine. I’ll be doing that next time.

Went with the family to a celebratory lunch. Doing a vegetarian month, my options were somewhat limited. I had the Barron's platter. Finger food on a plate, not a main meal at all. And one mushroom! Really... just one! The menu really needs more offerings for vegetarians (even if it's a steakhouse).

The rest of the table ordered burgers, rump steak and the 1kg ribs. Ribs were meaty, steak went down really well and the burgers were enjoyed.

Really liked that they bring out complimentary hot veg (creamed spinach and butternut). Also liked that the baked potato option (if you opted for this instead of chips with your main) were baby potatoes.

Waiters are however not the friendliest bunch. Also when we were first seated, it took forever to get a waiter assigned to our table. Once assigned, it took forever for the waiter to get our drinks order. Also, when my dad asked for peri peri sauce (condiment) post receiving his meal, the waiter brought out the sauce listed on the menu at a charge. The waiter should've clarified this before putting the sauce order through.

I wouldn't necessarily rush back. I've had far better experiences at other steakhouses.

First time eating at cattle baron and I obviously had to get steak, sirloin to be precise. Cooked to perfection (medium well), succulent and crisp chips. Seated outside by the pool with the lovely sunshine. The inside is very lovely too, the decor makes the venue feel like you are in a somewhat fancy restaurant. Our waitress was great too and attentive. Will definitely visit again soon!

Have not been to a cattle baron in years, so when a friend said we should go there, I was excited to try them again after so long. This Cattle Baron's service is exceptional!! The moment we walked in, we were greeted with sooo many friendly faces, every single person we walked past on our way to the table, greeted us and welcomed us.

The wine list is impeccable, with so many options to choose from, I honestly believe every person out there should be able to find at least one wine they like. Service was amazing, and the waiter was very attentive. We were a party of 6 and everyone was extremely happy with their meals. I had the blackened pepper steak and that was amazing, the brandy getting poured over the steak in front of you is an added bonus and such a delight (love the attention to detail).

Their meat is absolutely wonderful and so fresh. I would most definitely be back!!

On the 29th of March 2017. Once again another great night with the perfect steak and great service! This is my ultimate favourite restaurant ever!! Sirloin nevada was rare like I asked for it to be. My starter was crumbed mushroom and it was delicious and Juicy in the inside and nice and crispy on the outside. And the my desert was a chocolate fondant, it could've been more saucier in the inside, but was still delicious. I am really impressed with the great service and great quality of food. Best Cattle Baron ever. :)

Incredible service, a memorable cozy yet spacious atmosphere and food worthy of praise. This is a must-visit for all steak lovers, though I can vouch for their chicken dishes as well. The starters keep me coming back and always look too good to eat. Really a place to try out at least once. Beautiful view from the tables at sunset too.

I've visited twice. Once as a guest of a biggish party and once with the family. Even though you're not going to have your mind blown, you're going to have proper steak, done like it should. Other items on the menu are strictly there for those who got lost on the way somewhere else.
Have the steak... it's good.

Suprizingly elegant and sophisticated, warm and cozy atmosphere. Great service, delicious food! Started with creamy cheese stuffed mushrooms and deep fried calamari steak strips with tartare dip - super delicious. Main course we had the bacon, avo, cheese burger with chips and mushroom sauce; chicken parmesan with creamy mash; and chicken breasts on a bed of sweet and tangy cranberry sauce topped with camembert. All washed down with a bottle of Baronne. Great night for dinner, food just took a little too long to get to the table. All in all, great recommendation for family dinner and I suspect Sunday lunch will be as good.

Popped in for a quick business lunch. The restaurant is relatively new in it's current location set in the Wine lands. Easy to get to and between Somerset West ad Stellenbosch.
Decorated in an elegant style, i much prefer the new look to the usual wood and dark colours. We arrived to a not very busy restaurant and could sit where we wanted to. We both chose the rump as we are both banting. I specifically asked for a salad with lots of tomatoes.
The steaks arrived full of basting sauce( I should have stated that I did not want any) and my salad was not very nice at all, The tomatoes were floury and old.
I cannot say that I was impressed.
The service was ok and the manageress did come to the table.
I guess one just has expectations that sometimes do not get met.

New restaurant! The Cattle Baron is a very good choice for meat. This stake house is probably even better than hussar's grill. It has a beautiful setting, with a lot of customer's capacity. Great service as well!

Winelands look and feel to the restaurant. Service overall was okay. Rump, Sirloin and Fillet was brilliant! Would definitely recommend to any meat lover to give it a try.

The setting is elegant and comfortable, service is friendly and efficient and the food is amazing . I think the carpet bagger steak I had here may have changed my life.
