Review Gino's - Stellenbosch

Karin Human
Since moving to Gordons Bay end Dec 2019, we have tried many pizzas. Then we attended a book evening in Stellenbosch and a friend said Ginos is a must. Oh. My. Word. The BEST pizza ever. I love that it is oval and there is no skimping on toppings. Crispy base and coupled with two hot and strong cappuccinos .... we will drive the 40 mins there to repeat this.

Watched rugby on a busy night - they stayed open later so the rugby could finish. The pizza was amazing, highly recommend!!

Always a great time with great people and better food ! Cold beers and great pizza. Great place to cool down and watch the rugby game with friends. Always friendly staff and willing to help. Definitely somewhere to enjoy a meal on a sunday with the family.

Frequented Ginos on Boksburg many years ago. It was so refreshing and brought back many memories. I can't remember our waitress but she was awesome. This was just after 11am on Saturday. We were the Father and daughter Sat in the corner by the Windows with sun.

Nice place to chill..., and with good vibes 😎!! Service and food 👌🏾!!

Definitely recommend the Sparerib pizza! Absolutely YUM!

Every time we visit Gino's we walk away with smiles on our faces, and this time was no different. We visited for a late lunch and to watch the Formula 1 and, as per usual, they were super busy. They found us a table outside (under cover) however as my 3 year old daughter was with us and it was raining intensely they quickly made a plan for a table inside. The inside seating area was nice and warm and always gives you a cosy feel. What was awesome was the large TVs spread around so we were able to view the Formula 1 regardless of the seat we had. All of us had pizzas and they were very good. Our waitress was also friendly and welcoming. The one thing that is always an issue at Gino's is the parking, which is extremely limited. As we arrived during the food rush and had to park quite far away and walked in the rain, I recommend you arrive just before the lunch / dinner rush to ensure you get parking. This however won't deter me from visiting them again as they are just that good. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

Best spot for a pizza and beer in town. It’s always busy, good to have a reservation, but whenever we went, we didn’t have to wait more than 15-20 minutes for a table. The pizzas are delicious, lot of toppings, lot of options.

Great atmosphere and pizza. Excellent place to watch a sports game with friends.

The pricing for the food and drinks makes Ginos probably one of the most reasonably priced restaurants in Stellenbosch. To top that the food is delicious and I have found that for the many times I have been there I have not been dissapointed. The service is also very good with very friendly staff. Great place. Would recommend.

Love this place! Love the food, the ambiance, the wine but mostly the people. You guys rock. And at the slightest hint of complaint they are on it. Apologizing when necessary and always following up. Dom, the hospitality industry is never easy but you guys have all your ducks in a row. Here’s to another quarter century of always being a pleasure to dine at or order from Gino’s

We have been supporting Ginos for the last 20 years plus and yesterday was the first time that I was disappointed with the pizzas... it was very dry and base very thin and burned with a very skimpy portion of cheese... hopefully this was just a once off incident
Johandre Sakkie Swart
The best pizza I have ever had. This from now our fav pizza place

Best pizza in this universe such great value for money. Will drive all the way from CT to get my little treat

Went there yesterday. Waited a short while for a table. Then waited about 15 min for a waiter, (they were short staffed for the crowd they had and the barmen had to help) Gave food and drinks orders at the same time. Waited a while for the coffees, and an hour before our food started arriving. Pizza's came first and the one was wrong. We were told that they were busy and if we wanted what we ordered then we would have to wait until they got to our order again. We wanted green peppers (which according to the menu is free) added to one of the pizza's, when the bill came we charged for it. When we queried it the manager was quiet abrupt. Said she would change the slip and make the waiter pay for it.

Had a fab evening at Gino's with my wonderful husband. It was super busy but they attended to us very quickly as we were only two and our waitress was great even though she was pretty fun off her feet. Kept us informed about the length we would wait for our food but we had a well priced bottle of wine to keep us going and the atmosphere was vibey and we had a great evening!!! Gino's forever!
Marizane Van Der Merwe
Excellent!!! Best pizzas I've ever had...best wine prices I've ever seen! Great vibe, great atmosphere...will continue to go back forever!!!!!

excellent ,second time we have been there and both have been well worth the drive to Stellenbosch big portions , good food and good prices and good drinks prices .

A great restaurant with efficient staff. I have yet to taste such a good, succulent and tasty rump steak. Thank you for the excellent service. We will be back.

Had a great evening out celebrating my daughter's birthday. Staff was friendly as always and the food was great. They really made her feel special. Was a regular in Robertsham and found my piece of Joburg here. Thanks for everything. Keep up the good work Dom and Gary.

Awesome vibe! And the food was just great!! Friendly staff and service.

Good vibes, affordable prices and good food. Went to gino’s for supper and was pleasantly surprised how many option you have. Big menu lots to choose from
Michaelkidd24
Genuinely the best Pizzas in Stellenbosch, if I'm going for Pizza, I'm going to Ginos because all other Pizza tastes like feet. Our family has been going to Ginos my entire life and it still never disappoints.
Melvina Stuurman
Very affordable and food was nice.... Service was also nice, the inside setting is just a bit dark...we had steaks and ribs which was awesome and the brownies are quite big!!!!!!!!! Will most definitely go back for that brownie!!!!! Have to go back and taste their bolognese 🍕....... overall my friends enjoyed it!!!! It's almost like a hidden gem...................

Great atmosphere and setting. Good variety of wines. Good service. Friendly staff. Huuuuuuuge portions of both pizza and pasta. Classic Italian Restaurant!

Popped in for dinner on a very busy Saturday night. This place is massive, loud and reminded me of my student days. <br/><br/>Our very friendly waitress, Irese, took our orders. I opted for the medium margherita with extra basil and my friends had the large chicken & mushroom pizza with extra avo. <br/><br/>Love the fact that they have some extra toppings at no additional charge. So my fresh basil addition was free. Wow! I had very low expectations of this place, but the pizza blew me away! Stole a slice off my friend’s plate and they are definitely not shy with toppings - it was loaded with chicken. <br/><br/>My only gripe is that they do not do half and half’s. 😭😭 Would still recommend their pizzas though.
Vinolin Naidoo
Excellently priced food and wine - definitely somewhere you should go if you want to eat a big meal for a reasonable price. I had a pizza for R110 that could EASILY feed 2 people. Wine for R120 for a bottle, and a damn good bottle...you would rarely see that in JHB! The pizza was quite well made. Definitely impressed with this joint!
Sunel Fourie
They have amazing pizzas and their calzone is to die for. Not known for the best service, but not bad. They are a bit pricey, but it's worth it for the calzone and sangria.
Amy Wardle
Really proud of this place for having up regulation non-smoking signs but my experience was far from great. Our waitress was almost nowhere to be seen the whole time. The table next to us pretended like they didn’t see the no smoking signs all over and none of the waitresses saw them light up. Implementation is so important with something like this!! We had to ask them to stop with a simple hand gesture in the direction of the multiple signs. Besides that I had a glass of their house dry white, wasn’t great considering this restaurant is in the cape winelands. My pizza was the Marinara and it was horrible! Tasted like they had just defrosted the seafood and put it onto the base. The actual pizza base, sauce and cheese were great and everyone else had a delicious pizza (they had the tropical and the biltong chili pizzas). The worst part about my pizza was that the shrimp/prawns were not even cleaned properly! I think if I had ordered another pizza my experience would’ve been very different but I do commend them for their efforts against smoking.

We had a very friendly waiter, she even brought a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine for my birthday. We went on a Friday evening and had to wait 25mins to be seated, but the food is worth the wait. Their pizza's are amazing. If I ever crave pizza then Gino's is the only place that can satisfy the craving.
Elana Maree
Delicious woodfired pizzas. Gino's is great value for money for the excellence you receive. I would recommend the choose your own fillings calzones.

Gino’s boasts quite an extensive menu, with many Italian dishes to satisfy different tastes. <br/>Of course, many people opt for the pizza or pasta and I have only tried their pizzas. It is quite refreshing to have a change from takeaway pizza and I love their pizza bases that taste more authentic Italian compared to American style pizza. They are extremely generous with the toppings and the cheese (which can sometimes be overwhelming although I still enjoy it). The sauce is also quite delicious. <br/>If you’re going for a sit-down, the restaurant is a little old and needs better up-keep, but nevertheless it is a cosy and comfortable atmosphere altogether. It would be an ideal spot for a casual date night. The outside smoking area is large and there was a telly showing sport on the night I visited (for all those sport fans). The waitresses I’ve had were all pleasant, attentive and welcoming.<br/><br/>Gino’s delivery is very efficient and they offer a card machine which is so convenient!
Lyn
Was too tired to do a sit down so ordered telephonically to go collect. We were told 15-20 minutes. So we strolled at a reasonable time to go pick up. Our order wasn't ready yet so we sat down for a drink while waiting.<br/><br/>It's a very vibey place, lovely seating outside. A good place to go have a beer and watch the game with friends.<br/><br/>I have an issue with time. If I'm told 20mins I expect to have it in 20mins, 5mins leeway. I couldve been doing something else with my time. It took 50mins from when I placed the order. <br/><br/>The bf had a Hawaiian pizza it was good. I decided to be different and ordered a strange one that has chicken, seafood, anchovies, bacon, ham, salami, olives and different veggies. I don't know how to feel about it. It was so weird, so very weird.<br/><br/><br/>
Caela Kriel
Good quality and reasonably priced pizza! Haven’t tried any other meals here yet but definitely recommend the pizza. Friendly staff and good service overall.
MF
I absolutely loved their pizza and wine, we have been there multiple times and every time the service and food were good. The vibe is also special; inside one gets the feeling of being in Italy, and outside the vibe is more relaxed and South African. Absolutely wonderful.
Daniel Heynike
Generous portions, wholesome ingerdients and a great social environment.<br/><br/>You really can't go wrong with Gino's it's a well priced safe bet. It deserves it's positive reputation.
Nic Twycross
Adequate service, but the food was another story. We ordered pizzas and pastas. My friend and I had the creamy seafood pasta and it has to be one of the worst pastas I have ever eaten. Tasteless and stodgy. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Ronel De Beer
Awsum food for very good price. Service was abit slow, but seeing they were very busy. Def a place to go to have a few beers and some good food🤤
Amgelica Davids
Nice vibe and the pizza's were good but the service sucks. Our waitress only attended to us when she had to bring our food or drinks after having to call her to the table 👍👎
Chris Rafael
I came for dinner with friends and this place was packed beyond belief, we were lucky enough to get a table. Service was incredibly fast despite being packed and our orders arrived quickly. I loved the little attention to detail in the acorn shortbread biscuit that accompanied my coffee. This is suck a nice nod towards Stellenbosch. I ordered the steak calzone and was not disappointed. All the cheesy goodness with soft tender pieces of meat.
Amy Blaine
This is our local home away from home. Relaxing, great atmosphere, wonderful service and food that never disappoints. We are always greated with friendly face and a warm hello.
Danica Astra Prout-Jones
I have given Gino's one chance too many. This was a restaurant experience I want to erase from my memory. We were a group of 10 and we sat near the bar. No one bothered to come take our drinks orders so I went to the bar to personally order some wine and a beer for my boyfriend. I was told "wait 2 minutes" by a waiter who was fumbling around with some boxes behind the bar. I don't know who trained him, but telling your customer to wait is not quite the appropriate service at a restaurant. A different waiter then proceeded to literally drop a pile of menus on our table. The same waiter also knocked my boyfriend on the head while stretching over him to collect an empty beer glass. Horrific.<br/>But that's not all. After we ordered our food, he reached over from behind me to gather the menus and then dropped a few of them on my shoulder. There was no apologies for any of this sloppy service and I was appalled. <br/><br/>We waited about half an hour for our food, and everyone received their pizzas and pastas except for my boyfriend. After inquiring about this, the clumsy waiter proceeded to tell us that he had forgotten to process this order through to the kitchen but that he would "bring another cold beer on the house" while we waited another 20 minutes for the forgotten pizza. Offering free booze is no way to compensate for forgetting to place an order! My boyfriend didn't even want another beer! When his pizza did arrive, it was a medium instead of a large which was the size he had ordered!<br/><br/>I will never go back to Gino's and I hope people read this and make a better restaurant choice. This experience has confirmed the utter disgrace that is the customer service at this establishment!
Chef Brandon Jason Saaiman
Im trying to put this as mildly as possible, but i'm<br/>Disappointed to say the least.<br/><br/>Today round about 11:25am my friend and i came to Gino's for her birthday.<br/>I wanted to make it a special one for her but i failed miserably to do so....<br/>I'll try to explain so that everyone can see whats going on at this establishment.<br/><br/>We got there and the hostess @ the front of house greeted us in a kindly manner. She asked us to wait for 5mins and grab a coffee @ the bar because they're not open yet.(still cleaning and getting ready for business).<br/><br/>We did just that and ordered a coffee from the bar.(Took 15mins to get to the table and the waiter in the bar completely forget of our existence.)<br/>Find attached the one photo where the waiter put 3 sugars on the saucer.<br/><br/>For this i have plenty of questions.<br/>1.Why don't they put a sugar bowl on the table when they serve hot beverages??<br/>2.Why don't you schedule staff earlier to prep all that items??<br/>3.And don't you train the servers??because the lad handed us 3 sachets of sugar, after we asked him for white sugar.<br/><br/>As for the pizza!!!oh dear!!<br/>See the attached photo.<br/>I'm a chef and i can say that its not on to give<br/>someone a dish that is not checked by the chef or whoever's running the pass.<br/><br/>That right there is from a mushroom.<br/>I really wanted to go into the kitchen and ask the chef if he would eat that meal with that on.<br/><br/>No sauces on the table,no pepper grinder NOTHING.<br/><br/>Was so upset i just asked for the bill and left.<br/><br/>Won't bother to support Gino's ever again.
Deon Felix Coetzee
The best pizza in the whole whide world, Napoletana (Ancovy, Olives) with Pineapple.<br/>Go big or go home! Great for watching sport or having dubble brandy's guilt free.
Marika
Definitely the go to place for the best pizzas. Vibe is great for a casual family or friends outing. Staff/waiters have always been very friendly.
Shilohkruger21
With great food, service and atmosphere, at an affordable price, Gino's is the best there is! Besides the homey, delicious Italian meals, they serve the best range of meat, poultry and fish dishes, providing every foodie with an option! From pizzas, salads and soups to beer towers and the famous sangria, Gino's caters for all!
Jenisha Govender
Heard great things about this place but only tried it last night. Gino's lived up to the hype. The restaurant atmosphere was a good vibe with students and families. The portions were out of this world huge (I'm not complaining at all). I order the Diavolo sauce pasta with penne however I received linguini but it was still delicious! The sangria was a treat. The classic Italian decor is charming. Will definitely go back!
Anton Van Zyl
Basically the best pizza around. Regularly go there after a good hike and eat like kings. I have my favourite la africana pizza with a newlands lager. Who doesn't like biltong and chilli on pizza, add a bit of avo and you are good to go. Service is fast and they have portable power banks to charge your phone. I have been going here and will continue as long as there is pizza and beer.
Chanell Brown
Amazing food, always a nice atmosphere but service could be improved. <br/>Menu has something for almost everyone.<br/>Pasta Trio is always a winner!
Lee Kyle September
Some of the best wood fired pizzas in Stellenbosch, for years 👍🏽<br/>With quality toppings and a chilled atmosphere, its definitely worth a visit.
Henre Venter
This is by far the best Italian restaurant in Stellenbosch. I am not just talking about the mouth watering pizzas and pastas but of the homely feeling when you walk into the restaurant. It has that Italian family feeling to it.
Gordon Morrison
Best Pizza in Stellenbosch, no questions asked! Come here for a vibe, huge portions and value for money! <br/><br/>***If you feel like staying at home make use of the delivery service. <br/>
Andrea Lauren Kraak
What a leka place ! Beautiful outdoor area to enjoy the Stellenbosch sunshine, I highly recommend trying out Gino's. The vibe is vibey, the food is delicious and so is the sangria. Made a mistake trying the pizza with a 100 ingredients as it was a bit much but the pizza in itself is so good. Shared a sangria with my sister. Would like it if they put more fruit in to be nibbled on but ooh how tasty ! Could definitely have more than 1 😋. The Pollo ricotta is amazing !! The sauce is juicy and the chicken soft and tender. Not so sure about the pasta being on the side though. Maybe it should be mixed ? Nontheless, I am inlove with Gino's and will definitely visit again.<br/><br/>*update*<br/>I really liked Ginos on my first visit so decided to visit a second time for Sunday lunch. I'm glad I got it out of my system. The food is really so bland. My sister and I both had the Alfredo pasta, ham and beef respectively. The beef was stringy and chewy and the actual pasta sauce was so bland, I dumped the entire (R8) bowl of garlic and it didn't even help. It spoilt my appetite completely. And best believed I prepared myself for Ginos ! Pity, as the service is great. My father had the veal, it looked so sad on the plate I actually felt sorry he ordered it. The one dish that was good was the lamb curry, but why curry comes with pasta on the side and not rice I don't know.

You get what you expect from Gino's and that's one of their best qualities. <br/><br/>The pizzas are winners. I've never been disappointed. Although I have heard rumours of bad service, I have also never fallen privy to such shenanigans. I'm generally pleased to be left alone rather than constantly bombarded by my waiter, so maybe that's why. <br/><br/>Other than good pizza and nice service I like to sit outdoors, and Gino's always has space because of their huge courtyard (kitted out with TV's so you won't miss a Rugby or Soccer match), so for me, Gino's is a safe option when I'm in the mood for a simple yet satisfactory meal with no fuss or fluff. <br/><br/>Visit Gino's for a pub-style experience, or when the next big game is on. It's always a good time when you've got hoards of people cheering over clinking beer glasses and feel-good pizza!
John
Came to Gino's with more expectations. Ordered pastas which were very ordinary!!!!<br/>Service and friendliness of the waitress was good and the ambience of the place is okay. But the pastas were disappointing!!!!! Seems like the pizzas are good judging from other reviews. <br/>Venue and atmosphere deserve better food; suggest they work on the pastas.<br/>
Nikita Cloete
I think they must have the best pizza in Stellenbosch. The vibe is very casual and you can find yourself ordering some local craft beers. Parking is limited and the place is usually packed with people so call ahead if time to ensure you get a seat!
Simone Cupido
The Greca pizza was absolutely disgusting. The spinach was burnt and the feta was cooked in the oven. Two very big NO NOs from me. I expect more from a place which "specializes" in Italian pizza. Fire the chef.
Nicolevw13
I've always been a fan of Gino's pizza but I decided to try something different on my plays visit. After asking for a recommendation of a popular baked pasta, the waitress suggested the beef lasagne. The sauce was good but was really disappointed with the texture of the mince. It was dense and had a paste like texture. I'll stick to the great pizzas in future
Sara
Very well priced food. The portions are huge so the half portions are more than enough. Good for an evening or afternoon out with friends. I had the pesto pasta which was a bit dry but considering it was R45 it was decent
Chantel Mccallum
Our favourite pizza joint, situated in dorp street in the heart of Stellenbosch. We always come back for more! Our favourite is the Calzone Con Tutto stuffed with ham, salami, bacon, mushroom, garlic, green peppers, onions, olives, chilli, seafood, pineapple, chicken and anchovies. Definitely not for the fain hearted! We love the relaxed vibe, the holiday ambience and just soending quality time here. Thank you Gino's for good food, great wine and always good company!
Chantelle Lamusse
Gino's the famous pizza place in town - located in Dorp street. The vibe here for rugby and in general is amazing. I haven't been here once where it hasn't been full. Pizzas have lots of topping and very tasty. They are also very reasonable which is perfect for students. Definitely a place to have a leker kuier ;)
Michael Morton
Been ages since I've been to Gino's! But have very fond memories... Nothing like a giant pizza and an ice cold draft on a hot day! And Gino's offers that and more... Great spot!!
Nicol Miller
As we were in the area, friends decided to stop off at Gino's for the rugby yesterday. The vibe was bustling with students and it restaurant was busy. To eat, i ordered the rib pizza with feta and rocket and Dario ordered the tropical pizza with feta. The portion sizes are generous and the pizza was filling. I couldn't finish half of my food as it was saturated with cheese. Other than that, you get good value for money and very festive.
Nick Zaverdinos
Best pizza ever! It has great waitresses and their service is super fast for Stellenbosch. The prices are very decent. If you're not eating here then you should be.
Japie Kruger
Gino's is our go-to pizzeria. The pizzas are delicious! Ginos' outside seating area always has a very chatty friendly vibe great for gameday, whereas the inside seating is a little more laidback if you're looking for something a little more relaxed. The service is always friendly and great. Even on the busiest days when it seems Gino's is overflowing, they manage to seat us without much of a wait and the service is just as perfectly good as any other day.<br/><br/>The menu is extensive, the winelist is even better, and the pricing is phenomenal! The pizzas however definitely stand out in the taste category. <br/><br/>They have a large dessert menu aswell, but the desserts I've tried tended to be a little bland. Dom Pedros are fantastic though, and I stick with those!<br/><br/>Best pizzeria in Stellies!
Rachael Laura Wahl
Really awesome and tasty food. The price for the amount of food served on one plate is a great deal. Enjoyed every bit of my meal. Delicious!
Estelle Oosthuizen
Delicious pizza's. Great variety of pizza on the menu. We had the chicken mayo calzone. The large one is big enough for 2 people. Love the vibe.
Ben Kilian
Decent menu prices. Restaurant has a relaxing "homey" feel about it :) Had the Paesa Special pizza. Absolutely awesome amount of toppings! Best tasting pizza I've had in a long time. Oven roasted mushrooms and artichokes just worked soooo well together! :)<br/><br/>Don't be in a rush when you visit. Place is usually extremely busy and it seems "normal" to wait up to 90 minutes for food to arrive, which is my only negative about Gino's.<br/><br/>Will definitely visit again soon.
Miècke Krüger
While I hear fantastic things from most students in town about Gino's, my experience there was a bit of a disappointment. The pizzas were too cheesy and the base dry and without flavour. Their wine list didn't seem particularly unique either. The service however was great and timely, so I may return to give them a second chance.
Phillip Singer
I arrived with my companion on a balmy Sunday afternoon. The outside space, replete with pub style benches, was rather full and people seemed to be having a good. We were ushered inside to a large room, or rather a hall as the space is huge. The decor is sparse and shabby though not disintegrating but that simply lent the dining hall an aspect of character. I was half expecting Bilbo Baggins to enter the room with a band of dwarves such was the feeling it exuded. The waitress was friendly enough but was unable to say whether the fish was freshly caught (very unlikely) or frozen. I opted for a grilled calamari as did my companion. I chose a vegetable side rather than chips. The calamari was blackened with a cajun type spice. There were some tubes with many tentacles; that wasn't really explained. Portion wasn't large but the price was reasonable. Vegetables were simple, boiled, but edible. Calamari was pretty decent if unexceptional. We both opted for desert. I had been considering the chocolate cheesecake, however, the waitress was unable to say whether the cheesecake was baked or simply mixed and refrigerated. Ah...now I appreciate the professional waiters I had encountered in Europe or Asia. I chose the chocolate mousse ion the end and my companion the tiramisu. They were both competently made, the tiramisu tasted a bit tired of life perhaps having been made some time before. The chocolate mousse was pretty good. Service was pleasant and fairly efficient considering the size of the establishment. Prices are very reasonable and the venue is a fun place to relax. All in all, a pleasant place to while away the hours.
Layla Morris
I've been to Gino's twice now and I'm less than impressed. I've had pasta and pizza and both where extremely disappointing. Pasta bland and heavy, pizza over loaded with cheese. Waitress was kind and pleasant. Atmosphere was vibrant but the evening was ruined by the food. A huge pity because it is in such a primal position.
James Poultney
Typical generic South-Africab-Italian. Big restaurant, benches with umbrellas outside, pasta is barely acceptable as far as Al Dante goes. The spaghetti bolognese was basically a soup in my bowl with some mushy pasta. Terrible, I don't recommend this place at all.
Carmen Van Den Berg
Best pizzas in town ... Love using their take-away services when its movie nights at res. Portions and prices are reasonable. The food really fills you up. Wine list is the best you will find in town for those prices
Karine Dequeker
Great pizza and for us the Banting pizza option is the best we have had, produce are fresh and good. Service is friendly and efficient. Wine list acceptable and well priced.
Charné
Gino's is more a pub vibe than a restaurant. The pizzas in particular are really delicious. The service was really good and it was vibey to sit outside in what is a big kuier plek in Stellenbosch. The prices are also pretty reasonable considering the size of the portion
Stephan Maritz
This restaurant has the best pizzas I have ever had. Sunday afternoon pizza and sangria has become a ritual. I highly recommend this venue. I have never had a bad experience there.
Nadia Janse Van Rensburg
Best pizzas in town! Fresh! Take aways are my favorite but a young crowd if you decide to sit down for dinner! Asked for the largest G&T and i got a draught glass with G&T. I really would recommend their pizza!!
Chean3landman
Terrible experience! We were in the mood for some pizza and pasta. My boyfriend ordered the seafood pizza, it was an unseasoned, thick base of frozen and canned mush. I had a pollo ricotta, it was described on the menu as a spinach and ricotta filled chicken breast with Alfredo sauce and pasta, what I received was a dry chicken breast with a burned coating filled with mozarella. The worst expxerience I've ever had at an restaurant.
Nicole Sarah Hockey
Used to frequent this place often when I lived in Stellenbosch as a student - as it always had fair prices without being a typical student place. Definitely try the pizzas here, as you'll regret it if you don't. Beautiful restaurant with a great vibe for everyone!
Ivor Paul
Ginos is an institution. Everything that is real in abundance and nothing fake. If you come with a good attitude to have a good time, Gino's will take care of the rest.
JG92
Loved my time at Gino's. The waiter was very friendly. My pizza was amazing. It was one of the bests I have ever had. I love the chilled vibe this place has.
Charlize Morgan
It's with a review like this that I wish Zomato had different categories of each restaurant to be rated... This is a casual, family type restaurant with a great vibe. The actual restaurant is enormous and they don't take bookings so be prepared to wait a few minutes on busy nights. They also have a bar on the side and big TV screens, so whenever a big sporting event is on, the place is chock 'n block well in advance. <br/><br/>Compared to Asta, for example, the food here is more American "Italian" than authenic. Nevertheless, few things manage to hit the spot quite like a good Gino's pizza/pasta. And portions are almost double as big as usual. <br/><br/>Prices are reasonable and service is good, but food usually takes a long to come out of the kitchen. An hour and 15 mins the last time I was here! This can probably be attributed to the size of the restaurant, but maybe they should do less take-aways then and prioritise their customers sitting down to eat?
Trinka Mynhardt
Gino's has always been one of my favourites, and definitely one of the best spots for a pizza and a beer with a few mates! They have a very large menu but are mostly known for their incredible pizzas, offering thin or thick base crust, as well as gluten free options. The contedina chicken and mushroom pizza is to die for! Apart from pizzas, they make the most amazing pastas, as well as other delicious Italian dishes. Last night I had the peri-peri spring chicken with chips, and it was such great value for money! The only problem is that we waited for about an hour and 15min for our food to arrive. The restaurant was very busy, but by the time our food came we were ravenous! Make sure you get there early to secure a table as they don't take bookings, and be prepared for a long wait!
Wessel Van Wyk
The best pizza I have ever tasted! Full of delicious perfection. Excellent value for money. Looking forward to my next visit to this gem of a restaurant!
Renier Wessels
I visit Gino's quite often, recently been there to watch the rugby. Excellent pizzas with loads of creative combination together with traditional favorites. <br/><br/>Drinks are priced very well and the atmosphere is great whether there's a live sporting event televised or you go there for dinner. <br/><br/>Definitely worth a try...over and over again<br/>

Stellenbosch's favourite family restaurant, Gino's is always a great place to eat and socialize. Often very full and vibrant, with TV's and an outside area to watch sport, the food is always great, the pizzas are the best and the service is always good. Just a quality place in general

Let's just say that Gino's calzone is probably my favorite cheat meal ever. I have also had their chicken salad, Ribs and Calamari on different occasions which was all super good and really reasonably priced . Love the vibe of the outside area, the staff are all friendly and all I can say is that it is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Stellies .

My experience at Gino s was mediocre. We had mussels as a starter, the portion was incredibly small and it came with no bread to dip in the sauce. The pizzas however were decent, when they eventually came, they took very long to make them. Gino's was overall a mediocre experience that I would not recommend.

I go there almost every week. Not only is the prices very reasonable but they have their own wine which is fantastic at a bottle store price.<br/>Their calamari and lasagne is baked in the pizza oven which puts it in another league.<br/>The staff is super friendly and accommodating.

Average pizza, average calamari, very affordable, great service, lovely vibe, something for everyone from their large menu, they also have a large winelist, very popular with young and old

Such a great spot for a pizza outing, to watch the sport or to take the family for a great value for money meal. Guaranteed to be buzzing - the food is tasty and service is really good too.

Very nice pizza house, mainly. They are extremely cheap, with very good pizza. Also a very nice setting although not the most beautiful. Service is not too great, but hey it's cheap and very good. Nice for a casual lunch or dinner.

We had a very nice experience here the other day when we drove to Stellenbosch to pick up a family friend for the weekend. Originally we were planning on having dinner in the city and showing our friend the sites of Cape Town. He recommended we try Gino's and we're so glad we did! My boyfriend had the most delicious bacon and avo pizza and I tried the Alfredo pasta, it was so creamy and decadent!<br/><br/>This is definately a good spot to try if you're ever in stellenbosch, you'll love the vibe if you're a sports fan!

Once again a great visit , the hosts made effort to advise us there is a table outside because of the nice and sunny day outside. The food once again was delicious . Go there when you hungry!!! A big thanks to Chelsea for her service and the little surprise for the birthday girl she brought.

A fantastic place to go if you're looking for a delicious pizza at very reasonable prices. The perfect place to go for a student on a budget. I would recommend the riblet or tropical pizzas, my favourites!

When one considers the dining options you have in Stellenbosch you always go straight to a wine farm for a meal. However, Ginos provides a fantastic alternative when you are looking for a delicious meal without the sophistication of a wine farm. Everything on the menu is delicious, the wait staff are incredibly friendly and the service is great.

1st time here, and it was a good experience. Price vs. Portion size is very good. Friendly staff, and overall good service. My steak was rare when I asked for medium, told one of the waiters who quickly took it away to correct it, and minutes later brought it back and the meal was good. Will definately see me back in the near future.

Overall the this is a lekker place, it is vibey and you are still able to drink and eat even if there is load shedding.  The pizza was good.  What really sucked was we were 4 people, all 4 of us ordered starters and only 1 person received their starter, by the time we received our pizza's the starters arrived which was not ideal.  We did query this with the waiter before the pizza arrived but what can you do...at least we received it although redundant at that point.  I won't go back there for the food but it is a comfortable during loadshedding and has a nice atmosphere

Gino's was my favourite restaurant when I lived in Stellenbosch! Often go back to indulge in their one of a kind pizzas! You don't get better priced food at such good quality! Meat eaters - the riblet is delicious!!

Waited 2 hours for our food and was nothing special. Order got mixed up and had to wait an additional 20 minutes for them to fix the orders. Wouldn't recommend them for a good night out.

Dropped in at Gino's for an inpromptu late night dinner. The outside area was comfortable on a nippy autumn evening with the gas heaters. The service was good and efficient. Ample choice on reasonable wines below R100 and the ribs were tasty and tender. The pizzas passing our table also looked delicious. We will return to Gino's in the future.Werner Lombard

One of the classic Stellenbosch hangouts, you can’t ever go wrong with an afternoon in Gino’s. If you’re trying to rid yourself of the Sunday Blues with friends, then this is the place. It has a large outer seating area where the outgoing, friendly atmosphere reigns supreme. There is no typical Gino’s crowd – it’s made up of students, older alumni, families or even the odd tourist every now and then. <br/><br/>They have delicious sangria and it goes perfectly with their incredible pizzas. My absolute favourites are the Quattro Stagioni and Greca.<br/>It’s also a favourite among the rugby supporters, so if you’re in the mood for a quiet evening, rather sit inside and make sure there aren't any rugby games on.<br/><br/>Their service is always good, you’ll always feel welcome and the food is always delicious. It’s this consistency in quality that has made Gino’s a local favourite and a place you’ll always go back to.

Amazing place! Never been disappointed and i go here quite often. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys great pizza/pasta. Always a nice vibe as well

Gino's has never disappointed... I mainly go there for the Calzone's as they are delicious and a huge portion so you can share it. Best is to just build your own one and decide what you want on it. It's a cozy place and everyone is friendly. Very enjoyable.

Gino's is a gem. Arguably the best pizza in the province, and the best value for money, compared to Cape Town prices. The restaurant is unpretentious and inviting, and the experience is one you'll want to repeat. My group of friends and I have driven from Cape Town to Stellenbosch many times just to go to Gino's. We'll be back soon!!

The pizzas are truly amazing (a bit pricey) and the sangria is great and refreshing. The restaurant area inside is romantic and cosy, but the outside area and bar could do with a makeover.

GINO wow to come across the stellenboch ginos was so exciting...as we go to the jhb one all the time. We needed to compare, this is the other brothers place, and we love the Ginos in JHB. Food all the same ginos in Jhb is slightly nicer with less of a portion which is good if you only want half. Very cool food always good.

Food takes a bit long to be prepared, however it's definitely worth the wait. Fulling and delicious good quality food ???? had a coffee milkshake and it was amazing!!

Very good pizzas, especially the bacon and avocado and the paesa special. If you love cheese, you have got to try the quatro formaggio. But I strongly recommend ordering it with traditional tomato sauce base since the white sauce combined with the four cheeses is a little much. I've also had the carbonara and chicken salad, also good.<br/><br/>They have a large outdoor area equipped with flat screens and mist for when it's hot. They also have orders available for delivery or pickup. Solid Italian place.
