Review Postcard Cafe - Stellenbosch

Alick Chingapi
We sat in front of the water, to a beautiful view of the clouds rolling across the Jonkershoek mountains. The Valley breakfast option was quite divine, a healthy portion. The atmosphere , being surrounded by nature is such a good setting. The wine tasting is set in the middle of the lake/dam. Very picturesque setting and if you look North West you may spot a castle looking structure in the mountains 🤩. Kid friendly ,with lots of space I.e well maintained grass.

Great views, we were welcomed well in the restaurant even thou we did not make a reservation before we arrived. All waiters was very kind and made sure we got our food within less than 10min. Beautiful atmosphere, great experience, very calm and surreal experience definitely worth a visit.
Magda Jonck
The view is something out of this world. It looked quite busy but staff were very quick to get us a seat, even an hour before closing. We had a light meal, antipasti plate which was great for sharing. Friendly service and great food was just the cherry on top. Come for the view and stay for the food.

True to their name, every direction you look at is like a postcard, really breathtaking. The brunch offers outstanding value at this quality level, there is no skimping on ingredients here. The coffee is great, pair it with the amazing New York style cheesecake. Pictures are from 3 different visits and all my experiences were of the same high standard, so also full points for consistency.

Truly a majestic view, wine tasting on the water or a meal and cake selection at the postal cafe veranda. Worth a visit! The place is popular and tends to get busy. Staff is friendly. Just wished my chicken piccata wasn’t pink (ate the rest though). If it wasn’t, and the kitchen would have addressed this, I would have given a 5-star rating.

Beautiful place. Was taking a drive and just happened across it. The waters are filled with giant koi fish and wine tastings taking place in the center of it all. Almost makes you feel like you walked in on another world if you didn't know it was there.

Beautiful place, the grounds are beautiful and well kempt. It was a cold day and there were heaters on in the restaurant. Food is also reasonably priced. The scenery outside is breathtaking. I love mountains and mountains are what I got!

What a lovely spot for brunch with family and friends! The view is absolutely beautiful. The food was good, great prices and even better service! Thanks to Simba for making our father's day brunch so enjoyable.

The setting is absolutely sublime. The surrounding peaks, dam, pristine lawns and comfortable restaurant conspire to make the visit truly memorable. The food was really good and the service, excellent. Worth the drive. Orange and almond cake for dessert was great too.

What a beautiful property, we loved the walk around the lake with views of the spectacular mountains. Food was excellent and just a really peaceful experience. Different to the usual wine tasting venues, highly recommended đź‘Ś

One of my most favorite spots in Stellenbosch. It is a beautiful place to go and the food is exceptional. The service is good. I have never been disappointed by anything at Postcard Cafe ! Highly recommend

Postcard has the most stunning venue! Always friendly service, amazing quiches, scones with raspberry jam, and berry and apple crumble. They can accommodate up to 50 people with ease!

A beautiful setting with for a sunny setting day. Great food, great service and a great selection of wine. They also offer vegetarian and vegan friendly options.
Janine Janse Van Rensburg
Beautiful view. Fresh and tasty food. Great service.

I do recommend the students of stellenbosch to make sure they have an older companion present to cover the bill ;)

Stunning location! This cafe is located on the Starke-Condé wine farm on the Jonkershoek road. It is definitely worth a visit as the mountains tower over the farm creating a beautiful scene. Their wine is delicious and they have a range of meals to suit everyone, including a vegan, gluten-free option. Every time I visit I order the same Prawn and Calamari salad as it has such complex flavours. You think it’s a normal salad with a simple dressing but hidden in the middle is another sauce that compliments the dish. They also offer a range of cakes that I’ve heard are amazing that I’ll order on my next visit.

Peace and beauty is what you will find at the Postcard cafe . Great place to do wine tasting and come for a lunch , especially on sunny days.

A nice lunch spot after a morning hike in Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. We were looking for a simple and affordable lunch and weren’t overly impressed with the small menu and rather expensive prices so we ended up having a quiche and sandwich. The food was very tasty and the stunning views and well maintained gardens made up for the lack of menu options. It is advisable to book ahead as walk ins are seated inside (little to no view) and you have to wait for a table outside to vacate before being moved. I’m big on views and ambience so want to suggest that they extend the number of tables outside as there was ample space to do so.

The view at this cafe is superb, however the food and service wasn’t impressive. My omelette with mushroom, spinach and feta tasted mediocre and the service was appalling.

This is a well-known tourist destination that I've heard about always from my friends and as a Capetonian finally decided to give the place a visit. Picturesque and beautiful setting. A postcard it certainly is. However the breathtaking scenery was marred but the unfriendly reception received when myself and two guests approached the veranda on Sunday morning, looking forward to a hearty breakfast after a trail run. Bearing in mind it was a winter sunny morning, the place was empty except for one or two tables and we were greeted with a 'have you booked'? I promptly responded saying it doesn't look like we needed to book...given the empty LARGE veranda. We then proceeded to the inside of the restaurant where two miserable unfriendly ladies stood and again we were asked the question of had we booked? We eventually were seated. The menu was fair and service prompt but the Omlettes that we ordered were rubbery. Cappuccino was good but it couldn't make up for the cold reception which left with a bitter taste in my mouth.

So the scenery at this spot is just divine and a wonderful place to come with family and friends on a sunny day, also it has lots of room for children to play around and enjoy. Food is a bit pricey for what you get and not that amazing, but all in all a lovely spot to go for a drink or coffee and treat with family and friends.

A stunning setting to be enjoyed. The lunch was disappointing and bland for all five items. Maybe better luck with the breakfast menu. The service was good.
CT Food Bommer
What a pity that the food does not match the view. The service is also rather non existent and after many failed attempts of flagging a waitress down we were able to place an order. Maybe that was a sign. Go for the view, drink some wine and leave.

Properly one of the most beautiful and breath taking scenery settings for a restuarant. I have cone across my travels. I was very disappointed with the food and fact that they are missing a great opportunity to design a menu worthy of the setting. Food was poorly prepared with no love , attention or thought .
Nickielubbe
Very busy with a nice vibe. Service was not up to standard. The wine bottle did not have a label on, which was concerning. Coffee was good. Our desserts were good but not great. Lovely view!!

On 2nd July we booked for 5 people and had lunch at the Postcard restaurant. We had been to this restaurant many times before and recommended it to many friends because of the food and the picturesque environment.

However the menu was changed and some of the dishes have been removed. The remaining dishes was shrunk in portions to the minimum. How can you expect that a hungry customer get satisfied on the small portions that you serve now? My husband ordered the curry; the meat portion was in a little dish like for an entrée. I had the paella which had 4 mussels, 2 prawns and 3 small pieces of chicken (1x2cm). The mussels were off; I left them in the plate, inedible. I did not complain then as my family took me out for my birthday. The menu states light lunches, but if one travels all the way out to Jonkershoek, you are hungry when you get there. The previous menu was more reasonable. And on top of the small portions you charge prices that other restaurants charge for a proper meal.

I am not satisfied with your restaurant and will not recommend it to friends anymore unless you revise your portions and prices.

Most beautiful scenery all time through the year. Perfect for wine tasting with family or friends. My all time favorite - the view and route to post card is just breathtaking.

Such a pretty area we sat out in the grass which was very cool very good service and great cake we had three slices; carrot cake , vegan cake and a chocolate cake was very tasty !
I've been back and I had their omlette and my friends Tried their sandwiches which looked amazing and you got 3 also had there Malva pudding which looked so good and almond chocolate cake

First visit and probably our last.
Great view and good service, BUT.... we asked the waiter what he would recommend as their signature dish. He said the Teriyake burger with steamed rice. Don't order this ever!! The meat patty tastes like the cheap boxed frozen ones you buy from Pick and Pay. If you could spot the poorly prepared veggies on the plate you would more likely win the lotto. The whole plate was tasteless and this for a crazy R136!!! And this their recommended dish.
Ashley
Picturesque spot offering breakfasts and light lunches. Menu is small yet offers slightly more than your average cafe with suggested wine pairings . We had the antipasto platter for 2 which was perfect to snack on while taking in the view. Side note the prawn and calamari salad looked great.

It's worth booking ahead and asking for a table on the edge of the restaurant. There is a wine tasting spot out on the little dam if you're there later in the day.

This is a nice outdoor cafe, the scenery surrounding the cafe is so beautiful it makes it a different experience than the usual cafes you go to. We ended up here at Postcard cafe after a morning hike at Jonkershoek. The food here isn't anything super fancy but still eatable.

After reading some great reviews on Zomato, and having stayed in Stellenbosch for the weekend, we thought we would end off with a breakfast at Postcard Cafe. We arrived to a tranquil setting, with a veranda bustling with guests. Unfortunately, they were not able to accommodate us outside, so we sat inside. The service and atmosphere of the restaurant seemed subdued and slightly reserved. To eat, I ordered the eggs with smoked trout and had a cappuccino. Dario opted for the Warm oat and berry crumble with Greek yoghurt. The food arrived promptly, and we couldn't wait to tuck in. Unfortunately I found the eggs and trout to be undeeseasoned and lack luster and when asking if they had cream cheese or sour cream to accompany my meal, they didn't have either. Dario enjoyed his food and found it to be a good healthy alternative option, but it seemed more of a pudding or dessert than a breakfast. Yes, the setting is idyllic and tranquil, but other than that, I felt let down by the atmosphere and energy of the staff and underwhelmed by the meal.

A perfect venue to celebrate our son's birthday. Views are truly postcard perfect. everything was delicious - the mains were all good - Prawn and calamari salad, beef shin curry, quiche. The winning dish was the teriyaki beef burger which is served with rice - the burger melts in your mouth. a good selection of cakes and dessert. Again all good - baked cheesecake, chocolate ganache, pavlova, rum and raisen ice cream, warm apple and berry crumble. All dishes are known recipes so nothing out of the ordinary but the food was good and service excellent. The views give a relaxed atmosphere and you can do a short walk around the little dam. Recommend that you make a reservation - they are usually fully booked.

Never disappoints. This is a place we go to every year for our annual family vacation. Food is delicious, setting is breathtaking. We love this place.

So, I visited Postcard Cafe yesterday, 03/12/2016 with best friends, and boy oh boy were we impressed!!
A breathtakingly beautiful location. Stellenbosch never disappoints! We ordered the Antipasto plate to share as a starter and damn it was good. Each and every element on the plate was soooooo yummy. For mains, we ordered the Pan fried fish of the day, which was so delicious. This was accompanied by a beautiful salad. Friends ordered the Indian beef masala curry and they definitely enjoyed it. For dessert, I ordered pavlova, which I would recommend to anyone who does not have a sweet tooth, but would like to have a dessert. It's so delicious, without being overly sweet. I can't fault any of the desserts that were brought to our table. The carrot cake, red velvet cake and the gluten free chocolate cake.
After our lunch, we had a wine tasting on the dam. How amazing is that? We've met this really, really, really stunning lady, Carmen, who introduced us to Stark's amazing wines and told the story of each wine we tasted. She is completely brilliant!! She knows the ins and outs of all the wines on the menu and definitely made our experience worthwhile and soooo enjoyable. What a fantastic job Carmen...!! I can't describe how she made us all feel, you have to experience it for yourself. Thanks to Postcard Cafe for making this a memorable experience. I can assure you that I will be back soon...!

I can't believe I had been in Stellies for 3 years without visiting the gem that is Postcard Cafe!! After the most stunning breakfast experience, I now understand what the hype is all about- the location is enough to take your breath away before you've even picked a table. Taking advantage of the beautiful weather, we sat outside on the patio overlooking the lawn and lake. I really felt like I was sitting in a painting. With the Simonsberg mountains feeling close enough to touch, I knew why the café was such a hit.

I'm a wine lover, and as much as I love my coffee with my breakfast, it was definitely a wine sort of Sunday. Wine & salmon scrambled eggs... not exactly your usual combo but my word it may be my new favourite breakfast! The eggs were fluffy and delicious and the salmon was fresh and a very generous portion for how much salmon costs these days! The Stark Condé Chenin Blanc actually paired beautifully with the fishy taste of the salmon! Our waitress had a bit of a weird attitude but our drinks and food came promptly. Overall devine experience!

My new favourite breakfast spot in Stellies for when I'm feeling like a special treat!!
Hangry
Really great setting, the wine tasting was great. The food at post card cafe however was rather disappointing. We had the seafood paella which was basically just rice, we also had the fish of the day which was flavourless... I had had higher expectations
Gerhard Brown
The perfect stop after your morning hike. Great food and amazing wine. I recommend the Asian pork salad on a sunny day paired with a glass of wine.
Sara
Postcard cafe is only a few minutes away from the university area and is such a beautiful setting. The chai latte was great (although a bit small) and the cakes are lovely. Will definitely be returning. We opted not to have lunch as it was a bit pricey with most items being over R100
Christine Du Toit
Most beautiful setting, so peaceful! The fresh orange juice was excellent. The orange almond cake is good, but the chocolate cake is excellent!
Natalie
The drive out to Stellenbosch is always so nice!

We went to the Postcard Cafè over the weekend and the mountain views are absolutely beautiful. It was a bit chilly, but we were offered blankets to keep warm, so we cozied up outside and enjoyed the scenery.

Their café latte was one of the best I've had. Their breakfast wasn't to wow, but I still enjoyed it. Their warm apple berry crumble is divine. Very impressed with their service, the staff is friendly and very hands-on.
Rita Van Eck
Fantastic wine, extraordinary setting and a relaxed atmosphere you won't find anywhere else.

Highly recommended at least once during every season.

This must be one of the most beautiful settings for a cafe I've seen. Right against the Coetzenburg mountains in the jonkershoek valley, and set on a pretty garden with a dam, I had a fresh baked cheesecake and glass of white wine and it was just magical. Highly recommendable for lunches and snacks
John Schippers
What a perfect day! Great food. Smell the Jonkershoek forest with the mountain as the backdrop while enjoying great and fast service made this day golden. Ample place to explore and day dream. The wine tasting is has the most unique setting ever. Definitely a 5. A secret thats too good not to share!

A lovely morning turned into a lovely afternoon as we didn't want to leave this beautiful little place. I had a ham, cheese, tomato and pesto sandwich which was simple and delicious.
Miècke Krüger
While it was quite a while back, I enjoyed my lunch here so much that I had to come back for a review. With an amazing menu with the guarantee of perfectly prepared meals (with a view to die for), this is one I'd highly recommend to anyone with a love of good food, wine and nature.
Shaun Vincent Kerr
Beautiful! Awesome atmosphere, friendly staff and intimate vibe.. The wine tasting in the lake is awesome👌🏻 i have been in stellies for 5 years and only now discovered it.. What a shame..! Must visit!!!!!
Bronwyn MARAIS
What an amazing experience - slow braised lamb calamari and prawn salad. Sauvignon Blanc - Stark - Candé. The view are sensational. And the wine tasting is highly recommended.
Samuel
We had the most amazing breakfast, very fluffy and tasty omelette. Their views are worth the trip on their own. After breakfast we went for wine tasting on their little island. We really enjoyed their white blend, and the location is unbeatable by any other. I am tempted to give a 5 rating, but will come back a couple of more times to ensure that it was not a once off with the great service.

What a gorgeous view! The restaurant is on a hill overlooking a lake and the jonkershoek mountains. I always bring any friends who are new to Stellenbosch here. They've also built a wine tasting room out in the middle of the lake, so you can walk along the bridge and admire the views while you taste. The restaurant has a selection of yummy cakes, and you can also join for lunch. We had quiche and the prawn salad which were both good.
Manika Harduth
Only went there for the desserts and I have no complaints . I had the Apple and berry crumble which was nice . Would like to try more on the menu as it looks like a good place to eat at .

Stopped at this unbelievably picturesque wine estate for a quick lunch. The restaurant was full and the manager then suggested we start with wine tasting and once done a table should be available, which worked out perfectly well. Bathe wine attains games place I a little island in the middle of a couple of ponds, absolutely stunning venues. It had a wooden deck with wooden tables u demarcate beauty willow trees. For lunch at the restaurant I had the Brie/feta/fig quiche. It was light and fluffy and very tasty and not too Harry for a lunch. I was verby impressed and will definitely come again. The estate is surrounded by the most amazing plant my life and mountains and is also perfectly secluded. Great venue for lunches and special occasions.

Absolutely beautiful: rolling lawns and a view of the Jonkershoek valley. I found everything else to be lacking. I had to stand around for 10 min before going and finding a group of waiters. Not a hostess in site. How can you leave 3 people standing in between seated patrons- looking lost- alone and and completly unattended? Rude staff not very interested in you. Coffee was ok. Cheese cake was dismal. All in all not a very enjoyable experience.
Adrian Kaplan
This place has the most spectacular view of the Jonkershoek mountains. We stopped by late morning for some cuppucinos and cake. My wife had the choc cake and i had the malva pudding with ice cream. Both were absolutely delicious and the malva was probably one of the best I've ever had! Service was good and we did a little wine tasting after.
Tracey-Lee Lusty
I just had an absolutely AWFUL experience at your restaurant. After asking our (extremely rude and unfriendly) waitress "shareen" more about the Cheese platter, she quickly said she could do a half portion at half the price (her suggestion, not mine). I thought that that was a nice deal as I didn't want the entire large portion for just myself. The entire experience was horrible due to your unfriendly staff and our sudden waitress change mid way through our meal. Then the bill came and you had charged full price for the platter. I called the new waitress "Nicole" over and told her that I had asked for the half portion. She said "we don't do half portions" to which I asked surprisingly why you would misrepresent yourself to a customer? She had nothing to say and rudely walked in a huff and said she'll call the hostess. The hostess was even more rude and proceeded to argue with me about the price and shove the menu in my face and blatantly insinuate that I couldn't read. Are you guys for real? Arguing with a customer who is visibly upset and not even an apology? You guys need to seriously reevaluate your staff. Absolutely pathetic service which is sad considering that the food was actually not terrible and the setting is beautiful. A friendly word of advice: offer to comp the bill next time, APOLOGISE FOR YOUR MISTAKE, and lose the attitude. Sincerely, a customer that will never be back.

Postcard Cafe is nestled deep in the Jonkershoek Valley and the view is extraordinary. The restaurant caters to light lunches and a 'coffee crowd' and offers everything from cake to a toasted sandwich to a hearty stew. It is somewhat expensive for what it is, but this is certainly made up for by the quality of the food, the exceptional service and the Starke-Conde wines at cellar prices. The staff are always open to bigger groups and even in these sized groups, the service doesn't skip a beat.
Jason Stewart
This little gem is surrounded by beautiful scenery and stunning views of the mountains. The food is just as delicious as the beautiful surroundings. I had the omelette with bacon and cheese which was delicious. A must try when visiting Stellenbosch.
Jayshall Vassen
The Postcard Cafe is a little gem tucked away in Jonkershoek, which is a few minutes drive from central Stellenbosch. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous and the food is also pretty good. We went for a light lunch and I had the omelette with spinach, feta and mushrooms which came with a green salad. The omelette was quite thick but still good and very filling. We also tried the red velvet cake which was very moist and absolutely delicious. They have a wide selection of other sweets and desserts and I will definitely be back to try the others.
Henriette
We had coffee en route to lunch at Guardian Peak. Gorgeous venue. Service was good. We did not eat anything. We would love to return in the future for wine tasting on the little island.
Jana Lorraine Pretorius
Goodness gracious, this place is an absolute beauty! I was expecting a humble little winefarm deli, but Postcard Café is spectacularly gorgeous. The setting boasts a view of the surrounding Jonkershoek mountains, as well as a private lake. There are separate seating areas inside, outside next to the lawn, or a terrace right on the water's edge. A walkway also leads to the middle of the lake, where the tastings of their award-winning wines take place in a secluded little wooden hut.

In the mood for a light lunch, we shared the platter for two. Although it was just a little smaller than one might expect for two people, it was wonderfully tasty. Still a bit peckish after that, we shared a slice of deliciously dense and juicy carrot cake, which hit the sweet spot.

Although it is just a tiny bit on the expensive side, the selection and quality of the food is great, the service is friendly and efficient, and the setting alone is worth the price. I'll definitely be back for a waterside wine tasting session in the near future.
JonJon Clark
The place is in a winner of a location. But to be honest you come here for the views and not the eats. Breakfast consisted of a mediocre omellete and chocolate croissant.
Lisa
Amazing views, perfect setting for postcard cafe. The raspberry lemonade is morish mmmmm. I had the toasted cheese and ham sandwich, it was ok. But the sandwich came with coleslaw, now this was delicious. Service is slow!
Tarryn Masterson
Definitely a place to visit when you feel like getting out of Stellies, its not too far either and is a beautiful drive. Had a lovely breakfast here this morning under the tress and followed by a wine tasting. The view is just beautiful
Tondani Ndou
Splendid place. The scenery is to die for and the service is wonderful. The food was very good and my friends and I also went wine tasting which was by far the best wine tasting experience i've had in a while.
Cassey Toi
There is no doubt that this is a beautiful spot, sadly the food and service does not live up to it. We were a table of 6, and our drinks order was wrong 3 times. My friend had to ask for the bread that was meant to come with her soup 3 times, she waited 15 minutes before it arrived.

The cake, coffee and other desserts were generic, not what you'd expect at the higher price point which it's at.

If you do go to Postcard expect great views, good wine and friendly but incompetent service.
Kelly Rae Gifford
This is such a beautiful little gem! It has such a peaceful and beautiful atmosphere that pairs wonderfully with chocolate cake and tea! We shared a cheesecake and a chocolate cake and I could not have been happier. Such a super spot for a little afternoon treat.
Mzi Dempers
Lovely food and great service, great location and lovely scenery. Perfect for special occasions as well as a chilled afternoon with the famdam. Definitely will be back there soon
Paul Gregory
Great place with a great view of the Stellenbosch mountains. Definitely coming back for a visit when I'm in the area again. Not too caring for students though
Jane Price
This place is absolutely stunning! Food really great as well. Only thing I didn't like was the poor drinks selection, especially non alcoholic. They were all too sweet and more like kids drinks. Food very nice, but extremely expensive! Guess you're paying for the view.
Shae Leigh
Delicious well-priced food. Superb wines and a view that will take your breath away. Nestled between mountains and open land this is somewhere you want to kick back.
Shauna Tweedie
This is one my favourites. There are very few places with a setting like this one! It's a magical spot to spend the morning or afternoon. The food is simple but absolutely delicious. There is something on the menu for everyone! And one of the best cheesecakes around.
Chantelle Lamusse
I have gone there for breakfast numerous times as it has such a breathtaking view of the mountains. The food was very reasonable and tasty. I love the smoked trout brekkie - super yummy. Food is also very generously portioned. The waiting period was short and waiters are very friendly and helpful. It's a great chilled and beautiful experience. It should be noted that bookings are required to avoid disappointment.
Bronwyn Coltman
This cafe is situated along the road to Jonkershoek and is not one to be missed! They serve the most decadent red velvet cake and their coffee is great! Also, being situated on a wine farm, they have a lovely selection of wines on offer. You can also go wine tasting on the beautiful hut on the lake that overlooks the beautiful mountain range. I wouldn't suggest going there if you have your wallet in mind, but it's a perfect place to treat yourself!
Dominique Andrea Vieira
Postcard cafe is utterly gorgeous. Literally, it feels like you are sitting in a post card, and you'll probably catch yourself wondering if it's real more than once.

I do think their food lets them down a little bit, but they have your basic cafe-style options on there. It's a bit pricey, for what you end up getting, but the view is so beautiful you won't even notice - or mind. I would definitely go back for a glass of wine, and to just loose myself in the prettiness of it all.

Postcard cafe is a definite place to go if you want to have some family or couple time. With a awesome view of the mountains. Walking around the dam makes u feel so peaceful. The meals are awesome. Light lunch, I don't think so. Its alot of food. Wines are awesome. You can't believe it situated in Stellenbosch. This is a real hidden gem. Will definitely be visiting it again.
Lvanmellek
The most beautiful scenery! A great lunch or afternoon tea spot. Also, be sure to do a little wine tasting in the midst of the dramatic willows that surround the little Japanese-style island in the middle of their pond. The mountains are breathtaking. I do think they close too early, 4pm. The dramatic skies are well worth seeing as the sun starts to go down. Luckily one can go photograph even when the restaurant is not open but it would be lovely to sit there while the colours change, until at least 6/7 in summer.

Their lunch menu is made up of fresh ingredients, I had the fish of the day - very nicely presented and very lovely flavours. Their deserts are very appealing (although I personally do not have much of a sweet tooth).
Monique Van Tonder
I had the dark chocolate cake and my friend tried the tiramisu - both left a little to be desired, not the best cake we've had and the waiter was very quiet, I think he said a total of 3 words in the time we were there. These are however very minute issues because THAT VIEW THOUGH! It is the most tranquil, picturesque landscape you could imagine and captures the absolute essence of the Cape Winelands region. The same location also has wine tasting available and you can walk around the dam and explore - definitely worth a visit! Remember to make reservations, Postcard Cafe is wildly popular.
Shak_Van
A hidden gem! The location is the big draw card here and rightly so. Service was great although the hostess wasn't too kind about us not having made a booking before hand- who knew it was a prerequisite? Anyways, the wait staff were friendly and efficient and the quiche and scones were delish. I had an omelette which was slightly too eggy for my liking but it was a lovely outing and the view is unrivaled.

Postcard Cafe is one of the most beautiful places I've been to off late. If you plan to come here for breakfast, make sure to walk around this place, see and feel the nature around. There is a good chance that you may end up spending at the first half of the day here. The cafe is located in a very scenic wine farm named Stark Conde. Try tasting some of their wines while you are here.

we went as a big group of 14 members. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was a bit nippy. Since it was an open seating, the waiters were nice enough to offer us blankets.

****Food*****
Getting back to the food, let me tell you something - i am a vegetarian (i do not eat meat/sea food) i do not prefer egg. Firstly, i ordered a Croissant with Raspberry jam and Cheddar Cheese. The Croissant was extremely crisp, fluffy and delicious. Secondly i ordered a Quiche. Delicious, freshly prepared and tasty.
Quiche came with a garden salad on the side. Later, i ordered for a Scone with Raspberry jam and grated cheese. All the dishes were delicious and recommended if you are a vegetarian like me.
For desert, we ordered a Raspberry almond tart and Tiramisu. i felt that the Raspberry almond Tart was a bit hard, but then, it tasted really good. Tiramisu was a champion dish to end my breakfast.

There are several parameters that sets apart a good restaurant from a mediocre ones. Firstly - The food, Secondly - The ambiance, Thirdly - Staff. Food here was really good. i've been to restaurants that serve better food then this. But what sets this restaurant apart from other places is its natural beauty around the restaurant. The waiters were very friendly and helped me a lot to customize my dishes. Though the restaurant was a bit pricy, i dont mind coming here again.
The place is a bit pricy. However, i wouldn't mind spending the sum to
Sheryl
The setting is something out of a romantic book with the food and wine just serving as accessories. The service is really slow but you won't mind at all. Staff are really warm and friendly. Ended up chatting to sommeliers for 30minutes. Definitely one of my favorite places in the wine lands.
SupaThabs
Absolutely amazing & generous portions! All meals come with recommended wines, you can also enjoy some wine tastings at an additional cost. The outdoors are beautiful & inviting. I'd visit the Postcard Cafe again if I'm in the area
Monu B
They call it Postcard Cafe as the view is something like on a postcard, and I can't agree more to that. With a breathtaking view this is a hidden gem and a must visit. Nestled in the Jonkershoek Valley in Stark-Conde Wines this cafe is ideal for a healthy breakfast. The ambience and view is so nice that one would not mind spending the whole day there.

The food was great and I tried the Toasted Sandwich with ham. It was very nice and sumptuous. Also had a few bites of their Omelette from my friend's plate which was equally nice as well.

The service was great with smiling and friendly staff who took good care of us.

The whole experience was completed by a stroll over to their wine tasting place which is a wooden house situated in the middle of the river. A small wooden bridge leads to it and you end up in a small cozy place with a spectacular view.

A must visit. I totally recommend this place. Reservation recommended.

The drive out to this beauty is worth the reward. The lush greenery and mountain surrounding you, simply paradise.
The café is positioned perfectly with the décor to match. It was chilly but luckily they had blankets to use.

I would suggest booking a table, we were fortunate enough, but a lot of the tables were reserved.

For breakfast I had the Bircher muesli with mango, apples and almonds. The portion was huge, but tasty none the less. My friends had the Omelettes, Toasted sandwiches and Croissant.

After a delightful meal we headed down to the water to the wine tasting. They really have beautiful setting for the wine tasting. I wouldn’t be able to pick a favourite in the wines offered on the tasting, all too marvellous.

Can’t wait to tell everyone to come past this gem

***Meal Suggestion: Omelette***

Postcard Cafe - the name doesn't do it justice, this place is absolutely breath taking! Tucked away on a beautiful vineyard outside of Stellenbosch, this is a must for anyone visiting the region. A reservation is recommended, we were quite lucky to get a table.

I had the the breakfast omelette, cooked just the way I like it with bacon, spinach and mushrooms. My colleagues experimented with sandwiches, croissants and muesli with fresh fruits. I was the only one to dare a glass of wine for breakfast and was not disappointed with the house Cabernet, robust and full of flavour.

The service was spectacular, Liezle really took care of us :-) Afterwards we made our way to the wine tasting room, a beautiful construction on the middle of the lake. My personal favorite was the Syrah. I'll definitely be back next time around. Thanks Zomato for such a great recommendation!
