Review Indochine - Stellenbosch

Perfection. Everything is incredible from the views to the delicious wine and food parings. Fine dinning in its truest form. Tried the 8 course meal reasonably priced. Can’t wait to go back again.

We ate lunch at Indochine and it was just delightful. Perfect, really. Creative menu, absolutely delicious food, servers that went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable, lovely dining room, AND they brought chicken fingers & fries for our six-year old with a tragically picky palate. The wine pairings were excellent, with views to match. Very highly recommended!

Inventive, Asian-inspired dishes in a spectacular setting view a hillside view. We had a fabulous meal here. Friendly and attentive staff, as well.

This place is a must visit. I'd give it 5+ stars if I could. You can enjoy wine by the glass or by the bottle , the former which I appreciated especially as I was driving. In-between courses, expect an amuse bouche before your starter, a palette cleanser before the main (appreciated as the flavours have some spice in them), and a petit four after your pudding. All the food was excellent, so I won't go into detail on each course, except for the beef bulgogi, which I was told was only 100g but was definitely more like 300-400g (a good thing!). Our host was exceptional too, he was attentive enough where we never waited long, but wasn't hovering all the time. Finally I'll say for all you gluten-free eaters, they are able to adjust any dish to make it gluten-free, which my girlfriend appreciated.

We were fortunate to stay at the lodges and eat meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. All are worth mentioning for the beautiful preparation, skilled execution, and delicious ingredients. Of course dinner was a stand out experience with shoe stopping service, tantalizing flavors, and gorgeous dishes. But fresh and tasty lunch and breakfasts were a delight as well! We preferred our experience here over the more traditional restaurant on the property.

An excellent dinner experience, with exceptionally well cooked food and a fantastic range of flavours. Lives up to its reputation for delivering Asian and Cape Malay fusion dishes - a highly, highly recommended restaurant

Probably the best fine dining experience EVER. Not inexpensive, so it will cost you a pretty penny. Most amazing flavors. I just wished my steak was not seasoned with aniseed. Beautiful views! Even the air is magical with great architecture that provides a relaxing ambiance. Amazing service. I definitely recommend. 😍

What a gem of a place.........we were just in the area and were looking for a nice place to have lunch. Their Spring tasting menu changes on the weekly basis, but even though we didn't get the same menu that was posted on their website the food was absolutely amazing and the staff was friendly and extremely professional. Highly recommended

Sophisticated restaurant inside the Delaire Graff winery. The service was spectacular. Delicious food in a very charming environment. Nice view for lunch, which we saw when visiting the winery. At dinner the fireplace and birds art at the ceiling makes the difference. I had the vegetarian Albergine starter and as main the curry. Both were very good, but my husband meat dish looked more tasting :) we strongly recommend. Menu and bill as picture below.

The thing about this restaurant that I really like is that the atmosphere is relaxed, even in the posh and excessive environment. We had vegetarian dishes like eggplant, asian veggies, a curry and fresh fruit. The amuses were delicious and very good. The service is nice and friendly. Expect good food and a great evening, but the vegetarian dishes on the menu could use some more creativity. We saw small BBQ’s going around with meat. This could be used for vegetarian alternatives as well. Thank you for the great evening.

Awesome experience. Great location for a winetasting and afterwards a fantastic dinner. We had a nine course dinner for +- 1000 rand. Delicious food by a fantastic chef. Great and friendly staff. Easy accessible. Free parking. Wheelchair friendly. Great views. Spa possibility. Great place.

Fantastic view at sunset. Funtastic dinner as well. All courses were excellent and full of positive surprises.

One of the best lux dining experiences the Cape has to offer. Art, wine pairing, beautiful views.

Gorgeous place. We had a great lunch and it was a welcome change to have Asian flavors in the wine country. Excellent service and wine selections as well. Why not five stars? The food needs a bit more. More spice and flavor beyond the appearance. But, I’d still go and enjoy a tranquil ambience and fun selections

Nothing short of a stellar experience. Some magnificent courses and a great take on the asian inspiration. The staff was great and their winepairing was perfect.

Incredible. The set menu with wine tasting is superb. Chef Khan surprises and at times even confuses the tastebuds masterfully. Worth the experience!

I have been wanting to try out Indochine for a very long time as Dellaire Graaf wine farm is my absolute favourate. I have been to the Dellaire restuarant a few times but not to Indochine. It has beautiful decor and the sun set viewing is spectacular. The staff are really friendly and approachable. The food is really really good. We had the set menu and ordered the octopus as and extra starter. Best choice made. Every bite was appreciated and so different. The set menu was very filling. I thoroughly enjoyed the foodie experience. There was a nice fire place , which kept the resto quite warm. The restuarant was quite empty though, only 4 tables had company. I think this might be due to the steep prices of the menu at Indochine.

What a fabulous experience. Indochine is situated on the beautiful Delaire Graff Estate which sets the perfect setting for perfect views. The tranquillity of the venue really adds to the appeal of this Asian inspired restaurant. <br/><br/>Service was impeccable and knowledgeable from wines, to food, to the after lunch tea. <br/><br/>The food was exquisite. Flavours in every dish was delicate, inspired, beautifully presented but at the same time the flavours were intense with every bite. It was a taste sensation you should really consider indulging yourself with.<br/><br/>My only gripe is the prices of the wines at Indochine it borders on ridiculous. R160 per glads of sparkling wine....even though it's a MCC from the Estate....still ridiculous.

Our favorite restaurant for this year. It comes very close to beating our all time favorite restaurant Joel Robuchon in Las Vegas. The food and service was nothing but spectacular. The sommelier Kyle really paired wines well. I can only say you absolutely have to try this restaurant. Could not fault a single thing .

Situated on De Laire Graff wine estate in Stellenbosch- one of the most beautiful picture perfect places in SA. The Asian cuisine is really tasty. I had the kimchi seafood broth as a starter and I really loved it! Still dreaming about it....<br/><br/>Their prawn curry was tasty and they serve large prawns rather than the small ones. It was perhaps a bit pricey but you are paying for service, location, view and fine dining. The wine is a bit overpriced, I will not again pay R80 for a glass of white wine when I can get a good bottle of wine for the same price.<br/>Besides that the view is amazing, the interior is sleek, there is a lovely fireplace insside and open deck to sit on outside whilst you eat your food and sip on your wine. The food was not a disappointment at all. @

I have done fine dining many, many times! Food is not bad but DEFINETLY NOT worth the price at all.<br/><br/>Had a variety of food but nothing wow. Had wine which I always pay R290 for in upper class resturants (in Gauteng) and here you pay R490? I don't get it.<br/><br/>Nothung special, but beautiful place!...

Situated in Stellenbosch, on the R310 heading towards Franshoek is the opulent Delaire Graff Estate. Located is the Indochine Resturant which we decided to visit as a special occasion. <br/><br/>Resturant is beautifully furnished and decor modern and elegant. We were warmly welcomed and directed to a lovely table next to the fireplace.<br/><br/>I couldn't fault the service at all. On point and always seeing that we were looked after. <br/><br/>We opted for the 7 course tasting menu. While a little pricey, this menu was perfect with every course. <br/><br/>We started with the canapé then moved across the Thai smoked chilli confit fish which was wonderful and got hotter and hotter with every bite. My favorite was the Kimchee beef, loved the pickles. The coconut and ginger broth was nice. But the line fish was where I had to stop as I had enough. <br/><br/>We took the last 2 dished home and enjoyed them just as well. <br/><br/>I'll admit it's not a cheap meal but the 5 star service is why you would pay for it.

Delaire Graff Estate is designed to impress with panache and style. Indochine is stylish and elegant, perfect for a special anniversary celebration. <br/><br/>The restaurant greets you with a striking Swallows in Flight art ceiling installation, where over 1000 swallows become part of an incredible art piece. Our table next to the fireplace creating a cozy, intimate dining experience. Bonsai trees are placed as center pieces on each table. The service from the staff is top-notch and the staff is friendly and attentive without being too intrusive. <br/><br/>We opted for their 7-course Signature Selection menu. It is Asian Fusion inspired with a South African twist where delicate flavours create an all-sensory dining experience. <br/><br/>We started off with a trio of canapés - Tartare on puffed rice, Sumai and Steamed Bao. Great textures and flavours that just seem to work well. The Thai Smoked Chili Confit Fish served with a nori nest was so fresh with wonderful flavours and beautifully presented. Next dish was Kimchee Beef - Tartare, smoked egg yolk served with puffed rice and pickles. The flavours were just pleasurable on the palate and delicious to eat. My favourite dish was the Coconut and Ginger broth. So aromatic, spicy and bursting with flavour! <br/><br/>A Sorbet was brought to the table to clear the palate with a refreshing sensation after all that spiciness. The next course was a delicate Nahm Prik Line Fish served with curried broccoli & mussel cream and tempura mussels. The fish was perfectly cooked and all the flavour components allowed the taste of the fish to shine. The last main dish was a Thai Pork Sausage served with eggplant and squid puree, pickled shallots and octopus relish. The flavours were light, fresh and vibrant. We ended a memorable dining experience with a Trio of Desserts -simply heaven on a plate. <br/><br/>A place with luxurious surroundings and where sophistication is displayed in the food as a work of art!

The views and overall ambiance of this restaurant is breathtaking. The service was very good and our server was very friendly and informed. The food on the other hand was somewhat disappointing. My friend and I both ordered the Balinese duck. The duck was prepared three ways (sausage, grilled and fried) I was utterly disappointed with the breaded and fried duck leg. It was dry and lacked seasoning. Or starters were also not very flavorful. When asked if we could see the chef we were told that he was "very busy" even though there were only 3 other tables besides us and we were the last to leave. The manager, however, was very friendly and listened to our complaints and gave us complimentary desserts.<br/><br/>In conclusion, for the price point the food really needs to be better prepared and more creative and flavorful. I would not suggest this restaurant to friends. However, If you just want to have great wine and a stunning view, this estate is a must.

I want to rate this resturant a 10 because it is just life changing. Taking into account that it is situated at the most prestigious wine farm in the country, going to Delaire Graff is an experience. The attention to detail is there, the staff is international standard and the food is tasty with a touch of class. Try a wine pairing with your meal, the sommelier is jacked up and it's value for money. Really just an incredible experience and one that should be on your foodie bucket list. Indochine Restaurant

Having been to Delaire's main restaurant before and being a huge fan of Asian inspired food, I decided that it was high time to give Indochine a try.<br/><br/>Just like Delaire's other restaurant, Indochine is everything in one package - fine dining with a gorgeous view and impeccable service. Although smaller than the main restaurant, the atmosphere is still open and luxurious. You can see that they've paid a lot of attention to detail - from the ceiling decorations to the bonsai plants on the tables, everything about this restaurant screams contemporary asian themed cuisine.<br/><br/>Instead of the usual bread basket, we were served Chinese chips and pickled vegetables with a spicy dipping sauce. This was really a lovely way to start off the meal, since it was both light and flavorsome. For starters, we had the salmon pad thai, the coconut broth and the beef broth. The pad thai was delicious and not overpoweringly spice. I loved the crispy salmon skin! My only problem with the dish was that the noodles were quite difficult to eat because they kept slipping off the fork - not very elegant! The broths also received good reviews, but if you have a low spiciness tolerance, be sure to ask them to make the dish mild.<br/><br/>For mains, we had the duck, the prawn curry and the seafood curry. All 3 were absolutely delicious! I loved the mini buns that came with the duck. The dish was very tasty (especially the sauce that it came with!), but I thought the duck was a bit fatty and chewy. I would've like it to be a bit more crispy. The curries were also devine! Again, if you don't like spicy food, just be sure to ask for a mild dish. <br/><br/>We ended our fine dining experience with the banana spring rolls and the pumpkin dessert. The pumpkin was average - the terrine was a bit chewy for me. But the banana spring rolls were definitely a winner! I would highly recommend it as a dessert! <br/><br/>Overall, a great lunch and I'm happy that I had the opportunity to experience it. I still feel that it's way overpriced for the quality of food that you get - don't get me wrong, it's top quality dining, but there's still just that extra special something that's missing. The wines are definitely overpriced and I'm pretty sure they charged us extra for the rice that came with the curries, even though we did not order these as extra sides! But the service was great - we were originally booked to sit outside, but a chilly wind came up and they happily moved us inside. If you're a fan of asian cuisine and spicy food, I highly recommend this restaurant - even though it costs an arm and a leg. I would definitely like to come back to try the chef's signature tasting dinner menu someday!

The views are not as breathtaking as those at the Delaire restaurant, however the decor is still lovely and makes for a beautiful dinner experience. Service was relatively good and the waitrons were well versed in both the menu and wine list. Wine list is extensive yet on the expensive side, however there are options at an opening price point <br/><br/>The menu offers a small yet concise offering. Starters were enjoyed around the table with the Pad Thai being one of the favorites. The amuse-bouche and sorbet added a nice touch.<br/><br/><br/>Mains were received with mixed reviews, after the waiter set expectations high along with a price tag that would allude to the spectacular. Pan fried line fish was slightly overdone in a sauce which lacked a balance of acidity. The seafood curry was described as "underwhelming" with little uniqueness aside from the deconstructed presentation. <br/><br/>Desserts however were excellent. The sorbet and the cheese platter received the highest praise, however overall for the prices and reputation the restaurant commands we were left with our expectations not entirely met.

Stunning setting<br/>Fabulous array of taste sensations<br/>Wine prices horrendously expensive <br/>Why is it that up market restaurants in general are charging in excess of R400 a bottle for wines that don't really deserve that price tag ??!!🙀🙀<br/>Anyway back to Indochine- great food but on this occasion spoilt by a very inattentive waiter<br/>Had to hail him several times for refills, dessert menus and finally the bill. Mixed up mains orders Really not what you'd expect<br/>Informed manager who said he'd sort it.

The attention to detail is evident from the stunning setting, decor and meticiously plated dishes. A destination restaurant with an asian influence in flavour. Had a memorable lunch...we had a a range of dishes from the menu and non of them disappointed. You get what you pay for and that makes it worth it. Great service and beautiful wine on offer.<br/>
