Review Klippies Corner - Soweto

We visited Mandela's House as part of a morning stop over in Soweto. The house itself is small but thought provoking. I would suggest visiting the area with a local or as part of an organised group so that you are able to safely enjoy all Soweto has to offer.

Not a lot to see, per say. The building surrounding the house gives the impression that it's a lot to see. It's like any other shack in Soweto. Furniture and some personal items. There are no pictures allowed inside and no video on premises. But having said that. Once you leave out from the house, the whole street is alive and popping. Zulu dancing men in complete costumes. They put on a very energetic show for you. The street vendors are everywhere and will pressure you to buy. Everything is negotiable and worth the hassle. Keep your money close to you, and don't flash large sums. There are guides there that direct you to parking, give him 50 Rands, and it's worth it. He will keep the non vendors from begging you. Can't think of anything else of importance, but as detailed as I am trying to be, nothing compares to the experience. None African pay more for admission. YOLO

Definitely need to take a walk to feel the sensual atmosphere and see the history of our people. There's restaurants, bars, Kota places and beautiful views.

Our guide was a very knowledgeable college student/docent who shared a great deal about the history on the outside of the house. Once inside, we were left to roam through the small house on our own, which was actually perfect because it was a typical modest home. It is a glimpse into the past, personal life, and living space of the Mandela family. I appreciate that the family made it into a museum, and the state designated it as historic.

A truly surreal experience to stand in the place where an icon grew up. Nelson Mandela transcends celebrity status, the feeling when you are in the house is quite indescribable. Soweto is a great experience, I found everyone to be extremely friendly.

I'm glad I decided to go on this tour of Mr. Mandela's home with his second wife Winnie. Just to see and hear all the traumatizing experiences they went through with their children was definitely heart breaking. This is a must go if you are ever in Soweto, South Africa.

Everyone knows Mr. Nelson Mandela. Visitors to Mandela's house can explore the various rooms, including the living room, dining room, kitchen, and bedrooms. Mandela's house has become a symbol of hope and resilience, embodying the triumph over adversity.
