My partner and I had a scrumptious supper. Wandis place never disappoint and I love how he engage with her customers. He is also a funny man and very welcoming. I don't mind dining there everyday. Oh and the ambience was out of this world!

Great place with lots of history. The food was great but the signs of the Covid void are visible. Nonetheless, it is quite remarkable how they have kept going, even without electricity over the last few years.

If you looking for a little bit of history in a beautiful intimate place you found it. By far one of the most historical places I've ever visited. Couldn't believe the world renowned people who have been here. There's currency notes of places I didn't even know exist. The host Wandi is the sweetest old man who tells the most beautiful stories. The food was authenticallly South African. Highly recommend for tourist and locals. Icing on the cake is being able to write your name on the wall amongst the many who have came and gone.

You can't go to Joburg and miss this authentic experience in the heart of Soweto. Had such a great day here and great food ❤️ Don't leave without writing your name or a message on the walls or the ceiling!

Never been there for a long time but my experience there was awesome. And it got me blown away by the business cards that make a wallpaper... Wow

Right in the heart of Soweto this restaurant is the best option not only for eating but it gives you an authentic feeling of being a part of the city. Not overpriced, not full of tourists, with live musicians and good food it has everything what you are looking for in Soweto.

I ordered mogodu a pretty simple African dish on Uber eats with simple salads , I was pretty underwhelmed by the quality of dumplings. Didn’t look appetizing nor were they (see attached picture ) . The coleslaw was tasteless I’m not sure what kind of mayonnaise they used but I suggest investing in quality ingredients for customers . The mogodu was fine I noticed they mixed it with another kind of meat which is just unacceptable. The pumpkin was lovely

As a tourist guide in SA Wandies is still the most authentic sheheen turned restaurant in Soweto and has a great heritage from 1982 .The buffet styled food is a great selection of authentic local food .There is many different food to satisfy any hungry person .service is good

Definitely recommend Wandies. Vilakazi is too busy and getting a table is a mission. Plus the food here will not disappoint. Enjoyed the dombolo and beef stew!

*old review* wish I could find my photos of this place. Our department had lunch here when we did a soweto tour a long time ago. I remember the walls being full with business cards/notes from all over with people's signatures on it stuck all over. The food wasn't bad. I wasn't brave enough to try the tripe etc I just stuck to the normal buffet beef and chicken items. :-). This was the go to place for lunch for foreigners before the likes of vilakazi street had major restaurants
