Review Sakhumzi Restaurant - Soweto

A must do when in Soweto! The food is amazing - the typical “7 colours traditional Sunday” meal that’s enjoyed in most households in the townships of Soweto. The atmosphere is amazing! The DJ had us swaying to jams while we were savouring our meals. Entertainment on the streets keep the lively atmosphere. Extensive wine and drinks list! You’ll never be thirsty! It gets packed with tourists so book your spot to avoid disappointment. A must must do in Soweto!

We were just passing by but we were kinda attracted by the crowd, the restaurant and the attraction around the place and decided to come inside and had our brunch. We bought ourselves perfect way to tye buffet and I tell you, it was an amazing decision with edible results. The food was appetizing and so tasty. What's more attracting is the combination of traditional and western food, deserts etc. What a place to be , very edible. I would recommend this to anyone. Not to mention the waiter we had, what a gentleman same with his manager. Keep it up guys , I'll come even next time for more.

The waiters and staff were very warm, responsive and delivered service with smiles on their faces. The food and drinks were served hot and ice cold. The music was awesome with Amapiano playing and people enjoying their meals with smiles on their faces. I will definitely visit again!

It was a great vibe. My family and I wished to stay longer but we were no longer served, felt totally ignored by them after our initial waitress was relieved off her duty, others didn't even bother.

Food was really good, lots of flavor, perfectly cooked... I want some now just thinking about it. Can't wait to get back. Real chill vibes, in Orlando West, Soweto, home of Nelson mandela. It's a real nice vibe with great food, I highly recommend it.

We absolutely enjoyed the food here. The very best of South African cuisine. Seating can be a bit of a challenge, but that speaks to the popularity of this restaurant. Best place to eat after touring Soweto - just down the road from Mandela House

A buffet type place with quite a lot of options. I was glad to have a local with me to explain what various things were. It is not the cheapest place, but it is not expensive. The servers were nice enough, but it was a little tricky to figure out who was our server to get the bill at the end. You can go back as many times as you want so we were plenty full! The place is bustling so grab a table when you can - we were lucky to get seated right away. Really good experience over all.

The place was serving Sunday buffet and we couldn't place our order(not from buffet) until 3pm. Our waitress was serving many tables and kept us waiting. Nonetheless, the ambience 👌🏾 the steak was succulent.

Waiters can try be more friendly, other was chewing a gum all the time, otherwise had a great time.

It’s a nice environment to chill on a Sunday afternoon. My only issue is that you are forced to have buffet if you want something to eat before 14:30 I think……as you can’t choose from a la carte menu

Enjoyed the experience here. I tried the chicken to see how fresh it was compared to the US and the chicken was not great but everything else here slapped. Vilakazi St is worth checking out

Wow!! Beautiful experience...the crowd is so warm ...and the food so great!! To be on such an iconic street with so much historical importance is humbling. On the other hand our South African brothers have done an amazing job of turning Soweto into such a beautiful tourist attraction..

I went on a Monday afternoon. It was beautiful, sat at the garden area. I had their mogodu with dumbling, I was a little disappointed that their chakalaka was cold and lacked seasoning. Otherwise, it was perfect. The music is not overwhelming, the staff is friendly and attentive. You won't regret it🌻
