Review De Kelder - Somerset West

A great place to take in the Afrikaans culture. A wide assortment of drinks and food. Beer is always the best choice , but they do have a selection of wines for the more sophisticated palate. There is ample parking, but it can get busy over special occasions, I would recommend a taxi. It is on the driving range so take a jacket if it’s winter. Its Cape Town. So take a jacket anyway.

My favourite place, staff is friendly, food is amazing, I would give a 12/10 👌I've never been disappointed with their service and they always go the extra mile even when they are fully booked, well done to each and everyone , management should be proud of their employees 💯

Just ordered with Mr D and the Eisbein and chips were fresh and Crispy. Seriously one of the best ever and was not even done in! Well done!!!!

Fantastic dining experience with great staff. They also have really good specials during the week.

Eat-in with a difference. Restaurant is part of a Golf Driving Range. Hiw awesome!!!

Great Food! Great view! Great Servers! Great Drink offers! My God their food is to die for. Definitely don't mind being a regular here. My only problem, the appetizers come out with our main course, don't know if it's the way our server rings it in or what but I honestly dont like that. Other than that. The few times we've been here, it's been excellent. Shadrack is always our server. He's amazing!!!

Always have good breakfast here. Coffee is great and service too. Some bloke ordered a beer with breakfast. Something I cannot do on an empty stomach.

Very nice venue with excellent service and food. But....can give only 3 stars for atmosphere. Music sometimes too loud...and weird. And also some very noisy customars which does not watch their tongues.....bad swearwords for everybody round them to hear. Other than that....we will be back for a fourth, fifth, sixth, and more times!!!

Burgers are amazing. Good atmosphere. They have good specials including their 40% off pizzas and pastas. This is the pizza. Toppings are a bit scarce but good value for money in size.

A great place just to chill out at, have an ice cold beer and a good meal. Lovely view over the green driving range onto the Helderberg.

I ordered the tacos and calamari steak, both were amazing and delicious. I loved the flavours! The atmosphere was perfect and the chairs were super comfy and soft.

First time back since 2020 Covid. Restuarant very Clean! Food was AMAZING!! The restuarant manager Felicia,came to excuse the lengthy wait for the food,which was acceptable. Her service was FANTASTIC! I will definently recommend & be back!

Me and my family had Xmas lunch there.,..what an absolutely amazing place...the food was really delicious...the portions were really large... Winston who was our waiter was such a nice , friendly and funny guy...he really made us feel right at home...overall a fantastic place which we will definitely be visiting again soon...I would really very highly recommend this place

Awful service, had to wait 45 minutes for a waiter to take our order and then another hour for the food to arrive, which was cold and tasteless. This place is awful since new management.

Went to De Kelder tonight to buy pizzas. We often buy pizzzas there and love it. But the pizza bases were below average. It was clearly shop bought and not the usual good quality bases. Very dissapointed!!!!

Would recommend it anytime. Had our moms 90th birthday lunch and they went out there way to make sure everything was great. Food was absolutely delicious. Thank you.

We were 3 ladies and a guy for late 2pm Sunday lunch. Great service waiter on the ball with fluent Afrikaans & English. Hy was nie op sy bek geval nie...yeeess we had to remind him to bring the veggies but for the rest we were happy! Bit strange having lunch outside - the driving range antics were entertaining!

Went there last night with my partner for Valentine's day dinner - Great atmosphere and good service. The Manager ( I did not ask for his name ) came up to us regularly to check if we are still satisfied with the service and the place itself. I will definitely go back!

I was at the resturant last night and forgot my wallet with money in and then when I got it back almost 300 rand had been taken. I know for sure, because my friend paid for everything, even though I phoned in and asked them to keep it save. The burger special was disgusting and cheap meat and sauce was used.

I would give less than a 1 star rating. My daughter and her friends found glass pieces in their cocktails. Lots of it. She phoned me from the restaurant and I managed to speak to the 'girlfriend' of the owner or manager - both were not on the premises or were unavailable. Apart from there being No follow up to find out if any had been adversely affected by the glass, it was implied that they had put the glass into the drinks so as not to pay the bill.........!!!!!!!!! One of the other parents eventually managed to speak to the owner who said he would investigate and get back to her...nearly two weeks and we are still waiting.......

Had three bad experiences in a row. Un-organized service takes ages food was cold. They couldn't even heat up cheese properly.

We had the worst evening ever! Last night De Kelder was crawling of underage children drinking & smoking & management “accepting” ID docs shown on pictures from a cellphone. I know these children are underage as I was trying to have a drink with my friend, who is their teacher. So we as working young adults trying to do what grownups are allowed to do had to leave because you can just imagine what these children would have to say when they get to school on Monday. To the management of De Kelder - please note: next time I myself will be phoning the police should I ever set foot there again & last night repeats itself! And to all of these parents that “allow” their children that are underage to go out drinking & smoking - IN PUBLIC , you ought to be ashamed of yourself!!

This is our favourite go-to place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, sushi or just for drinks. De Kelder offers a wide range of good food, reasonable prices, friendly staff, lekker vibes and modern/rustic decor. Have a seat in the bar area, inside the restaurant or outside overlooking the driving range and mountains. There's a fresh, sporty energy during the day and a more relaxed resto pub vibe during the evening. De Kelder has us coming back for more!

Nice place to stop by after hitting a few buckets of golf balls on the driving range. Good basic food, friendly staff and great value for money. We had the Eisbein and a sirloin steak...and I must admit that the Eisbein even met high German standards. If was crisp on the outside and tasty on the inside.

Went there to watch some sports and requested it before sitting down. Was pleasent until the manager requested that the only TV we were watching on be changed to the rugby although only us were watching. I ordered food for myself and few other persons. Manager came around and said they would change the channel and that if I am not happy he would cancel my order. The way he came across was unprofessional and the word will be spread. Use to be a regular, but no more!

Lovely atmosphere in the sun and at the driving Range, that and my glass of wine were the only saving grace. The place has a "Sushi Bar" But the mediocre Sushi took an hour to get to me and I am still waiting for the extra ginger. Kinda sorry I didn't rather choose Primi across the way.

I was initially encouraged by the friendly service but the overall quality of the food and the dining experience really dissapointed. My steak was not bad although it was not worth the long wait. The accompanying vegetables were really terrible; watery and bland. This trend was followed by the post - meal cappuccino which amounted to poor quality coffee with foam haphazardly thrown on top.
