Love this place, Really fresh breakfast and awesome scones. The best I have ever tasted. Together with High Tea in Wynberg, they definitely serve the best breakfasts.

Lots of pastries to choose from and it's difficult to make a choice of only 1.
The place is very unassuming from the road and if you don't know it's the place with the yellow umbrellas outside, you won't notice it when driving. On foot however, you can feast your eyes and not resist to go in.

The Sweetest Thing is a lovely little spot in Simon's Town, and feels like a real Cape Town institution. It looks tiny from the outside (just pretty narrow, I guess), but it's actually quite spacious inside, including an additional room through the back.

They have lots of delicious-looking treats to choose from (such as tarts, cakes, eclairs, cheesecakes, fruit tartlets, cupcakes, muffins, croissants, and scones), as well as a large range of coffee formats. I went for a palmier (pig's ear), and an affagato (espresso over vanilla ice-cream), both of which were very yummy!

I probably wouldn't return though - it's a nice spot, but more of a try-it-for-the-experience place than a regular favourite.

Would give it a 10 if possible. Their sweet treats are out of this world, I couldn't just pick one kept going back to try all the different ones!! They can get pretty packed and this service can be a little slow but take a book and relax. Definitely put this one on the list if you visit Simons town.

Excellent baking and great coffee. Deserves a higher rating than you see here. The quality of both sweet and savoury baked goods is world class.

Chef Doreen's Signature Passion Fruit Tartlet in this tiny patisserie is a WOW...mouthwateringly citrus-tangy/ganache-sweet balanced with perfect pastry! DELISH Lamb/Rosemary pie too & super-friendly service!

Amazing patisserie, mini quiches are fantastic. Coffee is really decent. One of the best places in Simons Town for breakfast or lunch. Best lamb and rosemary pie!

We have called in here many times. The place is a little shabby but the pastries sweet & savoury certainly are not. I always go for the blue cheese & leek quiche so delicate & so tasty. The fresh fruit tartlets are gorgeous. Coffee also excellent. Atmosphere lacking but who cares.

It was such a nice surprise to find this little cafe by chance. The cakes and pies are amazing, and so are the coffee and smoothies. Lovely little courtyard inside. Totally recommended.

I lived in Simonstown for 4 months & tried every croissant in town.. the winner is 'The Sweetest Thing'. Beautifully baked pastries, cakes, tortes & biscuits, words & photos can't do justice. Worth a detour through Simonstown to select a boxful for your lucky friends. If dining in, be sure to head for the courtyard at the back.. not a glamorous fit out, but it is charming, & I'd sit in a bus top with their cakes rather than compromise on what's in my mouth for the sake of a tizzy interior. Coffee not their forte, but a. Bracing cup of tea with an eclair or their famous Caramel Mousse Cake? Heaven

A great patisserie to stop into on the way to/from Cape Point. Everything was fresh and tasty and the service was great. The home made lemonade was great!

Had afternoon tea. Don't go there if you are hungry, as the confectionary will have you eat yourself into a coma. Seriously good stuff. The service was great, super friendly waitress. Nice setting in that you can look out on to the main road and watch life go by. Good coffee 😊 I have had tea there a good few times and never had a bad experience. If a diabetic, then go there charged up with insulin.

I'm a lover of great desserts and thought that I'd try it out since it said patisserie on the sign. The desserts aren't very cheap. I purchased an almond croissant that's rectangular instead of a normal crescent shape and a lemon tart. The almond croissant was tasty but crispier than others I've had. The lemon tart looks divine and at R42 hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

Fantastic French pastries. And I am French lol. Lovely place for a breakfast, a light lunch or an afternoon treat. Excellent quality, by far the best I have found in Cape Town so far. The Chef is from Zambia, been trained the French way. Husband is British. 👏👏👏📣📣📣👍👍👍😋😋😋

Delicious... everything! Not just sweet treats (but there are sweet treats to delight even the sweetest tooth), they also make delicious savoury pies, and have a small but yummy-sounding breakfast and lunch menu. The place is also much bigger than it looks from outside, with two small tables outside on the pavement, a few more inside in the front, and then even more on two levels beyond the counter, and then even more in an outside courtyard at the back (with bathrooms there as well). A must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth (but their pies are also really good).

Amazing pastries, both sweet and savoury. We came three times over a three day visit to Simon’s Town. Highly recommend the pecan tart and herbed mushroom quiche.

Absolutely delicious baked goods - sausage rolls, quiches, tartlets, cake and more. The coffee is pretty good too, and indoors seating very pleasant. If you've cycled over hill and dale to Simonstown, I strongly recommend you park your bike and sit yourself down outside this picturesque historic building and replace those calories as fast as you possibly can. You'll be spoiled for choice.
