Enjoyed the vegetarian ramen from here ! Portion was big filling. Also devoured some of the freshest sushi. It was busy when we went but the service was still great 👍🏼

Update: ok I think I may have been drunk on that gorgeous deep fried chicken bao - so much so that I rated the sushi rather high the last time I was here.
Came back for dinner and ordered the beef rump bao for starters and the 24 piece monkey platter to share. The chef was kind enough to allow us to have the platter as all salmon. The sushi was good, but not great - the sushi rice was a bit too salty. The beef rump bao tasted like a local steak and braised onion sarmie - good, but not quite what I was expecting.
The chicken bao really is the best thing on the menu here.
Review 1: Oh wow! This place was a very pleasant surprise. Joined my friend for an impromptu dinner at this place.
Ordered starters to share which included the sushi donut, buttermilk fried chicken bao and tempura prawn bao. The boas are next level! Definitely not traditional, but it’s one of the few instances where a fusion version of this dish was beyond amazing. Would highly recommend the buttermilk chicken one - but both were good. The sushi donut was also very yummy..albeit a bit awkward to eat with chopsticks.
For mains my friend had the fusion sushi platter and I opted for the duck ramen. Really really good! The soup is not as complex as a traditional ramen bowl, but I can’t expect to find many ramen bowls close to perfection outside Asia (there’s a place on lower Long street that comes very very close though).
The sushi here is amazing as well! I think I may have a new sushi contender for my top 3 favourite sushi places in Cape Town.
The mochi dessert was a bit of a let down though.
Ps. Every table was taken and there was a queue for tables. Come early or book ahead of time.
I’ve been craving Ramen noodles for a long time and this place didn’t disappoint. Big portions with a super tasty broth - perfect for a chilly day. Only wish there were more noodles. This was by far the best part - chewy and soaked up the broth well. We had the prawns tempura to start which were crunchy, not oily and a big portion. Two dipping sauces as well - sweet chilly and a tangy mayo. It’s a small restaurant, only about 10 tables maximum. They don’t take reservations but we were there at about 7pm on a Sat night and got a table. We will be back to try the sushi.
The food is amazing! Had the bao buns to start... delicious but they are very filling as a starter! Perfect to share one between two people. Had the chicken ramen bowl for main,huge portion, absolutely delicious. Moderately priced. No bookings and limited tables so get there early !
Truly the Ramen was the most delicious food I have ever tasted in my life. Quite pricey but it felt worth it. Will definitely come back. Decoration was awesome, the vibe was really chilled and service was fantastic.
Fantastic little sushi spot on Sea Point main road, although they do have a variety of meals to choose from, such as ramen, poke bowls, sushi donuts as well as your typical sushi, great atmosphere easy access!
Spontaneously popped in here today and was really impressed! Had their signature poké bowl and it was amazing. Generous portion, the fish was so fresh, and every bite was flavourful. Was however quite disappointed with the service - our waitress was not attentive and we waited ages for our bill. The food and quirky décor and artwork did make up for it, and I will definitely be back to try their ramen.
My 2nd time there in 2 years, this place is definitely doing something right, it was packed! Although the place is not that big, but compare to when it first opened! I have ordered the duck ramen, and a poke bowl. Food is good, service is a little slow, but still attentive, so I am not complaining. I would still recommend it.
May I suggest udon noodles as an option other than ramen, for those who are gluten intolerance? Btw, duck ramen was really really good!
Lovely little restaurant. Liked their Goku artwork on the walls, a nice touch. Food was absolutely delicious, I had the salmon sushi roll and some prawn Maki. The sushi was fresh and a decent size. Their ramon also looked so yummy which I will definitely come back for!

The Bao was absolutely amazing and even the Ramen. At one stge for me personally, it good a little too sweet but it was my first time eating it and I loved it. And everyone was very friendly which made it even better!

I had the most unique and interesting experiences here trying ramen for the very first time! I really enjoyed it! Half soup half noodles - go for chicken :)

Very good Poke and Sushi with a good vibe and friendly service. Will definitely go there again to try the Ramen one day and see if they have Misu soup. Poke just as good as the ones I had in California!

I've eaten from here twice now, the first time was a takeaway poke bowl, which was the perfect summer meal, super fresh and delicious. The second time was for dinner. I ordered the chicken ramen and it was amazing. As like all the other reviews, it was an enormous portion and great value for money. I can't wait to go there in winter, it's the perfect hearty meal for a cold night!

I went for lunch with a friend yesterday who was in the mood for ramen, so we decided to try out Three Wise Monkeys in Seapoint.
I have heard some good things hence decided to go through.
First thing I noticed was the very warm and friendly staff who greeted us as we entered. You could tell the place had a good atmosphere about it and the decor of the restaurant itself was simple and understated yet elegant with its shades of blacks. This is nicely offset by the selection of art pieces on display and of course the massive DBZ mural above the kitchen area (all of this seems somewhat out of place to be honest, but nonetheless added to the quirky charm of this little eatery)
The drinks menu seemed a bit limited thought they do now offer alcohol as well, but considering we came for the Ramen, we dove straight in. I ordered the Beef Filler Ramen, whilst my friend (who spent 5 years living in Japan herself) had the Beef Brisket Ramen. A nice sized helping of ramen was brought to us and we dug straight in.
The broth was absolutely perfect and had a nice balance of flavours as well as the fillet being cooked to perfection, the meat literally melted as it entered my mouth.
The noodles were also very nice and had a good consistency to them. Perhaps the only thing I would have liked to change was to remove the spinach. Whilst this DOES make the dish look very nice, the bitter flavours of spinach didn't compliment the rest of the dish very well. I would have personally added a green along the lines of kale or better yet fresh celery instead. Just a thought. My friend also noted that in traditional Japanese ramen, spinach isn't used.
Nonetheless, the meal was very delicious on the whole and sufficiently filling to leave me quite satisfied. And whilst it did seem to take slightly long to arrive, the food and especially the atmosphere made up for this and I would certainly be back to enjoy more of the menu again in the near future

I absolutely love Three Wise Monkeys! Haven't tried the ramen yet, however the Poke bowl and their various sushi dishes including the sushi donut are fresh and delicious! I would highly recommend this restaurant however the two times I went in the evening the service was not very good and the waitress even forgot about my salmon roses so I ended up just telling her to leave them.
We went to three wise monkeys for dinner, my partner had the duck ramen while I had the chicken. The ramen was really good, however the broth does get a bit rich after a while, portion sizes were very generous. Great that you are able to bring your own wine. Would definitely go back to try the poke bowls
Decided on the spur of the moment to try this eatery . It’s small and cozy with a really nice feel about it . I had the poke bowl (small) which was a healthy helping and the large must be quiet a belly full. The tuna was fresh and vegetables etc were really crispy and lovely . My wife had the Ramon and was not disappointed .
All in all a good experience and we will be back - not licensed so we brought our own which is another plus for some !!

First time at Three Wise Monkeys and I must say the service wasn't that great. A guy behind the counter just pointed us to a table that was open. 5 mins later we received a menu. Ramen and wings was really good and tasty. Waiter never came to check on us once. Will probably be back when service is a bit better and alcohol is served.
Wow! What an experience. A new-comer to the Ramen scene, and what an introduction. The place was recommended by a friend and this became a cheeky Saturday evening outing with the family. Absolutely brilliant meals, epic portions, great value for money and such a chilled atmosphere. We tried sushi and Ramen, naturally. Both were great, the Ramen was unbelievable - everyone ordered chicken and no one finished. One meal was shared and they were kind enough to deliver two separate portions, without any prompting. Pro tip on how to eat Ramen: tuck into the noodles right from the start and scoop up the delicious toppings as you slurp up the broth. This is your best chance of finishing. 100% will come back soon.
We have ordered take out from this establishment twice, but never eaten in. The ramen is really good, and they package it very well as a take out. The portions are massive, double serving in a standard bowl at home. We had the veg option both times, was delicious and we will definitely go back again for more. We also tried the tuna from the grill, that was a bit bland but the poke bowls look great. Down side is we waited over an hour for our take out the second time (2x ramen), so will phone well in advance next time. Service doesn’t entice us to eat in the restaurant, the staff are not very attentive (we had plenty of time to observe them!)
My girlfriend and I had such a great evening out last night at this new found favourite. We are both ramen junkies so the drive all the way from Noordhoek was maybe extreme but worth it. Had the Veg Ramen and it was delicious. So generous was the portions that my girlfriend and I shared which left space for exploring the rest of the menu. Not a lot of Vegetarian options but enough to have a great meal. Also there is no liquor license which i think is actually a blessing as they don't charge corkage which makes the meal a lot more affordable. So take your own wine and feast !

The ramen here is like a fantastic bath of good health and sodium that never seems to run out no matter how much of it you slurp down/spill on your chin (read: portion sizes are certainly generous). I had the chicken, a friend had the brisket -- while both were excellent, chicken was declared the winner. The ramen menu is not extensive, but there more options than on the zomato menu - which is out of date: one can also order sushi, some delicious-sounding staters, and beef fillet/duck ramen. I like the flexibility in the food, there seemed to be no problem in swapping out an ingredient you didn't like for one that you did at no extra cost. I'll definitely be coming back (after saving up for the duck). ❤️❤️
I've been wanting to eat at Three Wise Monkeys for so long and my expectations were exceeded.
My friend and I shared a large poké bowl (R115) and a beef brisket ramen bowl (R105). The portions were so generous, it was too much food for us! Next time I'd share a small sushi plate and a ramen bowl.
The broth was delicious, the briskest was good, but not amazing, I'd be keen to try a different ramen option next time. The salmon and tuna in the poké bowl were super fresh and the spicy mayo was delish, the avo wasn't ripe though.
They don't have a liquor licence- so BYOB- we wish we'd known this. Can't wait to go back - with a bottle of vino of course ;)

Phila Goduka and I have been doing this thing where we sample all of the ramen that we can find wherever we are(thanks to Ivan Orkin's episode on Chef's Table #Netflix) SO we found no better reason than to try out the ramen at 3 wise monkeys. We didn't expect it to be so packed when we went but we were fortunate enough to find ourselves seated as soon as we arrived just after a group had decided to give up waiting for a table. I'm not sure if it was due to the busyness or just overall laid-back demeanour of the staff but we found that the waiters weren't as attentive as we would have liked. We both ordered the beef brisket ramen and were overwhelmed by the many puzzle pieces that made up the ramen. The brother, however, was the best I've had so far and I really liked the taste, size and texture of the noodles. We also ordered edamame beans which were hit with both of us. Due to the generous ramen portion sizes we were unable to try out any of the sushi so we will have to return in the future in order to try it out - especially the sushi donut.
SUSHI DONUT = AMAZING, yeah it looks good but its also a better version of a handroll, truly yummy, highly recommended over a handroll.
CHICKEN RAMEN = DELICIOUS, super good and HUGE, really filling and you will struggle to finish but so worth the price.
BRISKET RAMEN = REALLY GOOD, just not as good as the chicken in my opinion.
Service was awesome, they dont have a liquor license but they'll make a plan to get you some alcohol for one of the restaurants next door.
Really enjoyed my Veggie Ramen tonight! The meal was perfectly seasoned and paired with the aromatic chilli on the side. Perfect spot to zone out and treat yourself with a group of friends after a long day of exhibitions! The service was friendly and well rounded, however the music was not as well suited for a Contemporary Japanese Themed Restaurant!
The Poké bowl is out of this world! I've been to this restaurant 7 times in the last 4 months and took someone else with each time, and they ALL have done the same (this is a sign) Three wise monkeys is definitely delivering on good fresh food, and super affordable for the size and compared to how much Sashimi generally costs! A small poké bowl is more than enough more me. Definitely my favorite restaurant at the moment.

Very cute place, good for a sinner with friends or in couple. The selection is vey limited but at least what they do is good. Food is asian style, with ramen noodles and yakitory. Very interesting the pickled eggs and vegetables, but who knows if they will have when you visit them. The menu is too small to include all recipes all time and not bore the customers.

I think we must have waited almost 2 hours to be seated. Somehow it was still worth it! Everyone at the table had ramen, which was excellent. I had the poke bowl and it was really really good. The portions are generous, service is surprisingly quick and the food is really fresh and tasty. I keep wanting to go back but have never been brave enough to face the queue.

I tried the large deconstructed sushi bowl (poke bowl) and it was delicious. The mixture of ingredients was fresh and perfectly complimented each other. It was filling and didn't leave me feeling unsatisfied. The service is quick and friendly, and I'll definitely be back to try out the ramen dishes soon.
Best ramen I've ever had!
I ordered their chicken ramen through Uber eats and it was phenomenal. The chicken broth was flavorful and had great depth and richness to it. The boiled egg was cooked to perfection, the shredded chicken was so juicy and flavourful, the pickled mushrooms were a burst of tanginess and the sweet corn added pops of sweetness. The nori and julienned spring onions added the umami flavour and crunch.
Apparently the restaurant is super funky! I look forward to visiting and trying their other food! I hear the sushi poke bowl is also delicious.

So after driving past here a few times, we finally managed to grab a spot here tonight.. (bearing in mind they don't take reservations). We arrived around 7pm and there were minimal seats left, so it's advised to get there early. Our waiter was friendly and gave great recommendations in terms of taste/ portions. I ordered the Ramen with chicken. Luckily, I had great company to keep me busy for 40minutes, because it took a while to arrive at the table. Also, they don't have their liquor license as yet, so it's a BYOB vibe. Anyway, the food was absolutely delicious. Some of the best broths I've had. The egg was cooked to perfection and it was packed with loads of flavour. Really memorable food, which will get me returning real soon!

I was over the moon when I found out there was a remember restaurant in Cape Town, it's one of my best dishes, so I couldn't wait to try this out.
It didn't disappoint, all the flavours you expect from quality Asian style cuisine, salty sweet spicy bitter and unami all rolled into 1 delicious bowl.
I had the beef short rib flavour which was completely moreish with every taste.
Then we sampled the sushi which actually surprised me enormously.
The sushi was a perfect bite size portion, packed with favour again and a more than generous helping of fish to top it off. Honestly the best sushi I've had for some time.
Then the deconstructed sushi bowl, all I can say is where have you been all my life??
Huge helpings of sashimi with fresh salad and what's that hiding underneath??? Oh it's a sneaky portion of perfectly cooked, sticky and sweet sushi rice!
Really great place and didn't care about the fact they don't have a liquor license as you forget about that glass of wine when you are tucking in!

So we popped in here to pick up some take away ramen on the way through to a friends place the other night. It's was around 7pm and clearly its a popular eatery. Friendly and courteous staff offered us a seat at the bar while we waited. Decor is great, contemporary and quirky.
Bar the fact that we waited 40 minutes which we thought was a little long, the veg ramen was a winner - a large portion of fresh ingredients with well prepped noodles and a super tasty stock. From the grill we tried their seared tuna which was served with pickled red cabbage - also really delish.
We'd head back sometime for sure, although perhaps to eat there or maybe use Uber Eats. Would recommend :)
The best Ramen in Cape Town. The decor is funky and a relaxed casual cafe vibe. Great service. We found the soft drinks a bit pricey @R24 for small bottle coke. I loved the veg Ramen the flavours were delicate and the noodles were fresh. The beef Ramen was also flavoursome but a bit on the salty side for me. The Poke Bowl was also delicious. Three Wise Monkeys was our first encounter with a restaurant that specialised in ramen and poke. We went on a busy Friday night and we were promptly ushered to two empty seats by the bar area. The decor is modern yet whimsical with the Dragonball Z paintings plastered around the outside of the kitchen. The kitchen opens out to the dining area and allows the customers to see the chefs at work.
We ordered two bowls of ramen; one vegetarian and the other with the beef short rib. Without much expectation, we were surprised with the amount of flavour which both bowls of ramen had. The broth was richer than expected and was packed full of savoury and umami flavour from the miso. The portions were fairly large and definitely enough. The ramen noodles seemed to be handmade and was well cooked, however it lacked the bounce that you'd expect from ramen noodles. The addition of the corn and pickled cabbage added a different dimension of sweetness and acidity which helped to balance the rich broth. The two bowls of ramen were extremely satisfying.
The service we received was excellent and the manager seemed to have things under control.
The price point of the ramen seems slightly high considering it is a bowl of mostly noodles, however it is definitely worth the try.
Overall the experience was very pleasant and we will definitely be visiting again in the near future.
Love this place. Don't forget to BYOB (they don't have a liquor license). The ramen was really delicious, I loved all the effort they put into adding lots of interesting ingredients. The broth was delicious and the noodles made it very filling. I especially liked the beautifully cooked egg. Do yourself a favour and don't eat it too quickly (even though it is delicious). You only get half, I learned that sad fact after digging around trying to find the rest for ages.
Date idea: I noticed My Sugar is next door. It would be a great idea to get to them just before they close, grab a filled donut for dessert and then enjoy your ramen dinner. After that you can sit by the promenade and eat fresh delicious donut.
There's not much to say about this restaurant apart from the fact it is the SINGLE best restaurant I have EVER been to in Cape Town. Went there for the first time last night and I will be going back this evening. Everything - every inch of my plate - was perfection. Calvin Duffus and I shared the veggie ramen, a small poke bowl and the Fusion sushi plate. Everything was quality, pure quality and I was sad to leave. Decent prices as well - our entire meal came to R280.
They don't have a liquor license which, for some reason, just added to the entire experience. Not sure if they don't have one because they are fairly new but here's to hoping they don't get one just so that they can focus on their delicious food... we took 4 craft beers with us.

Would you believe me if I told you I've never had ramen? With that in mind I headed over to the new ramen place in sea point - good news? I'll definitely be having ramen again!
We shared the chicken ramen between the 2 of us as the portion is massive, we really enjoyed it! We also tried their grill option of the day which was fish cakes - this was absolutely amazing!!! I would go there everyday for a portion.
They also carry sushi on their menu and surprisingly was really good and very fresh!!
The BYOB is nice as they don't have a liquor licence yet, unfortunately the service is shocking with the waiters having very little knowledge of the items on the menu and just not coping when they are busy.
One of my favorite types of food. When ramen is done well... you just can't beat it!
The way it's prepared in this store has a slightly different style to what I am accustomed to, in that the broth and the protein both are far richer. Not exactly the way I like it but certainly the best I have eaten in Cape Town. The sushi was really fantastic!
As for the shop, it's a well appointed space with comfortable seating. Service is their shortfall. Not that it's bad, just seems like they don't really know how to run a restaurant yet. Processes still need to be put in place. But that won't stop me going back!

Had an awesome evening at Three Wise Monkeys.
The restaurant is pretty small and packs up quickly so I would recommend going there early. They were full when we arrived but only had to wait about 10 minutes for some seats at the bar to pop up which were fine to eat at.
I had the chicken ramen bowl which was delicious but massive. Next time I will definitely share a ramen bowl and order something else off the menu. The kushiyaki for the day was seared tuna which looked delicious and was enjoyed by my friend.
It is BYOB and there is a bottle store right down the road.
The service is slow and not very attentive but the waiters and owner were both very friendly and made for a pleasant experience.

Service could use work though - waiter kept forgetting our order so maybe they should be allowed to write orders down in future. But I'll still definitely be back :)

Lively little spot - nicely kitted out with a good atmosphere. Small menu but for someone who likes Japanese food and Ramen, there were lots of options.
Was impressed with the service - the waiters took initiative and were knowledgeable about the food and gave good recommendations.
Had the chicken ramen and my sister had the poke bowl and both were great. Large portions with great flavours. The noodles would be better if using thick udon noodles and they could use a bit more pok choi and other vegetables in the ramen, but on the whole it really hit the spot and was very enjoyable.
Would definitely visit again and recommend to others.
Really good, proper ramen (unlike other CT "ramen bars") that was rich and full of flavour. Shared the chicken version plus a salmon & tuna poke, which was also great - fresh and delicious. Tuna yaki to start was excellent, not just seared tuna on a plate but instead came with a complex dressing and yummy seed crust. Will be coming back!
